Zelpha Jeanine Franzmann, age 66, entered her heavenly home on August 31, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, Zha Zha, sister, and friend.

Zelpha was born June 29, 1957, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Harold Q. Johnson and Geraldine Victoria Elizabeth (Smith) Johnson. Zelpha married Chris L. Franzmann June 10, 1989 in Carrollton, Texas. The couple had five children: Katie Quinn Franzmann, William Caleb Franzmann (Jess Ackerman), Hallie Elizabeth Deschamps (Joseph Deschamps), John Merritt Franzmann (Rachel Franzmann), and Caroline Grace Franzmann.

Zelpha graduated from Haven High School. From there, Zelpha completed a two-year program at St. John’s College of Winfield Kansas and finished at Kansas State University majoring in Accounting. She began her accounting career as a field auditor and later became a staff accountant while earning her CPA. In 1986, Zelpha moved to Dallas to become a Controller for a hotel management company. She began to attend Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton where she met Chris at an adult singles Bible study.

Zelpha was a piano and organ player as well as a choir member. She became chief logistics officer and advocate while carting our five kids to baseball, soccer, swimming, basketball, plays, mock trial, and many other events. After first sending her kids to private school, Zelpha switched gears and dove into becoming a homeschool mom, pouring her heart and skills into her kids and various homeschool groups in both the Dallas and Houston areas. Zelpha led the high school section of Faith COOP of Northwest Houston as a board member; later she led as the board President and self-imposed dress code enforcer. After homeschool life was over, she became an Accountant for Northwest Anesthesia where she enjoyed a reprise on her accounting career. Zelpha was many things: a beloved wife, wonderful mother, great chef, stellar hostess, creative quilter, deep friend to those in all of her orbits, always found by her infectious laugh and zest for life. Zelpha poured her love into everyone she came to know. Underlying all of the above, Zelpha was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and the power of His love, as well as a tremendous prayer warrior.

Zelpha is survived by her husband, Chris; children, Katie Franzmann, Caleb Franzmann (Jess Ackerman), Hallie Deschamps (Joseph Deschamps), Merritt Franzmann (Rachel Franzmann), Caroline Franzmann; granddaughter, Charlotte Noelle Deschamps; mother, Irma Alpers; siblings, Sherry Waggoner, Iver Johnson, William Newton (Jann Newton), Mark Johnson (Colleen Johnson), Jeanne Miles (Kent Miles), Thomas Newton (Jeannie Newton), Starla Stoppel (Mark Stoppel), Garth Johnson (Sherri Johnson), Adola Stocker (Kirk Stocker), Theresa Higbie (Heath Higbie); brother-in-law, Andrew Stephen Franzmann (Ilene Franzmann), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Zelpha was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by her parents, Harold and Geraldine Johnson; niece Geraldine Johnson; and sister-in-law, Nancy Johnson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, Tomball, Texas on Thursday, September 7, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be Saturday, September 9, 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Haven, Kansas.

Zelpha Jeanine Franzmann |1957-2023|

Delbert Orlie Kidwell, 83, died September 2, 2023, at his home. &nbsp;He was born November 11, 1939, in Howell, KS, to Orlie Kidwell and Louetta (Brocher) Kidwell.

Delbert was a graduate of Cimarron High School, Cimarron, KS. &nbsp;He received a Master’s Degree in Education from Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS. &nbsp;Delbert was an instructor in the Vocational Technical Department at Hutchinson High School from 1967 to 1995, retiring with over 28 years of service. &nbsp;In 2002, he became a volunteer for the Kairos Prison Ministry Program.

After his retirement from teaching, he went to work at Howard’s, Inc., Mount Hope, KS, from 1995 to 2005.&nbsp; Working at Howard’s Inc., and coming from a farm background, gave Delbert the opportunity to pursue his passion and love for farming. &nbsp;He enjoyed being able to help a farmer make the most of his resources, especially in the viability and sustainability of keeping equipment and implements in good running order. Delbert had no problems in making friends in the farming community and he even managed to befriend the farmers’ dogs. &nbsp;He did not know a stranger, he had a servant’s heart, and an open spirit. &nbsp;Delbert’s greatest joy in life was being ‘Papa’ to his grandchildren.

On August 7, 1966, Delbert married Sharon Kleweno at the Bison Methodist Church, Bison, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 57 years of marriage.

Delbert will be greatly missed by: &nbsp;his wife, Sharon Kidwell of Hutchinson, KS; daughters, Sandra Condon of Leawood, KS, and Julie (Jeff) Walstrom of Overland Park, KS; four granddaughters; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; and sisters, Dorothy and Margaret Rose.

Private graveside service will be at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2023, with the family present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The casket will remain closed.

She began her journey through this life on March 3, 1951, in Maquoketa, Iowa. 

She was the daughter of Willard “Bill” Marburger and Barbara (Barstow) Marburger, of Green Island, IA. Debbie went home to Jesus on Sept. 2, 2023, near her home in Inman, at the age of 71. Debbie married Jackie Lee Daniels in Green Island, IA in July 1967 and from this union two sons were born, Fabian Lynn and Todd Allen Daniels. On Dec. 10, 1970, due to a tragic automobile accident, Jack, Fabian, Todd, her brother Steven Marburger, Betty Randall, and Debbie were all involved. All were killed, except Debbie, who spent four months in the hospital. Debbie loved to go fishing. She also loved to do crafting and make jewelry. Debbie had a small hobby farm, where she had chickens, ducks, and a pig. Debbie also loved gardening and planting flowers. Debbie loved spending time with her family and being with her sisters, children, grandchildren, and her first great granddaughter. 

Debbie married Paul Gerlach in 1978 in Marquette, KS. Two children were born; Steven and Krystal Lee. Debbie is survived by a son, Steven (Melissa) Gerlach, Lindsborg, KS; a daughter, Krystal Gerlock, Inman, KS; four sisters, Vickie Marburger, Hermitage, MO, Kathie Arnold, Kansas City, MO, Steffenie Quinaln, Bolivar, MO, and Faye (Michael) Roe, Bellevue, IA; two brothers, Mick (Ellie) Barstow, Moreno Valley, CA and Doug Mangler, Bellevue, IA; 6 grandchildren, Makayla, Lindsey, Cassidy, and Laney, Kereece, and Gaige; one great granddaughter, Mariana; two close friends, Robert Terpe and Robert Glauser. 

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and two sons; three brothers, Steven, Jackie, and Roger Marburger, of Green Island IA; 3 sisters, Sherri Christ, Sabula, IA; and Rosemary and Becky of Green Island, IA; one future sister-in-law, Betty Randall; and two brothers in law, Robert Chrest and John Quinlar.

Pagon Danielle Buchanan, 28, died August 26, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born May 13, 1995, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Harold Hathcock and Delinda (Harrell) Fortune.

Pagon graduated from Nettleton High School in Arkansas in 2013. She became a stay-at-home mom and loved her children and family more than anything. Pagon was a loving mother and devoted wife. She had a strong faith and her belief in God was important to her.

On June 30, 2019, she married Corey Allen Buchanan, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Pagon is survived by: husband, Corey Buchanan, Buhler; daughters, Laken McKinley Hathcock, Isabelle Jade Buchanan, and Paxton Leigh Buchanan; mother, Delinda Fortune, Jonesboro, Arkansas; brother, Steve Stroud, Jonesboro, Arkansas; grandparents, Ray Harrell, Brenda Hathcock, and Harold Hathcock, all of Wynn, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Hathcock Jr., and father-in-law, Gene Buchanan.

Patricia M. Redenbaugh, 80, died September 1, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. &nbsp;She was born June 15, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Isadore Frank and Mary Marie (Weiss) Rohr.&nbsp;

Patricia attended St. Teresa Catholic School, and retired from sales at Pic-Quik in Hutchinson. &nbsp;She loved cats, making crafts, and was a master collector of about everything. In addition, Patricia had been a member of TOPS, before graduating to become a proud member of KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). &nbsp;She was a member of The Father’s House, Hutchinson, and enjoyed her lady’s group “Times of Refreshing”.

On May 17, 2008, she married Duane Redenbaugh, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;

Patricia is survived by: her husband, Duane of Hutchinson; children, Michelle Devault (Wes) of Skiatook, OK, Joseph Gard (Mary) of League City, TX, Beth Landry (Rudy) of Des Moines, IA, and Stephanie Maldonado (Jon) of Lubbock; stepchildren, Dawn James (Corey) of Buhler, Holly Redenbaugh, Aaron Redenbaugh, both of Hutchinson, and Amy Fallis (Gary) of Broken Arrow, OK; brother, Edward Rohr of Parsons; brother-in-law, James David Wheeler of Hutchinson; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; a sister, Dorothy Ann Wheeler; and a nephew, David Scott Wheeler.

Jodi was a 1978 graduate of Buhler High School, Buhler, KS. &nbsp;She enjoyed listening to music at all hours of the day. &nbsp;Jodi’s greatest joy in life was being around her children and grandchildren. &nbsp;

In May 2004, she married Coyne W. Cooprider in Hutchinson, KS.

Billie married Billy Jack Ford in 1951. &nbsp;He passed away in 1965. &nbsp;Billie later married Steven H. Steele in August 1968 in Miami, OK. &nbsp; He passed away in 2010. &nbsp;Billie worked in retail most of her life. &nbsp;She loved being with her kids and grandchildren. &nbsp;She loved the Lord and loved to sing.

Billie is preceded by her parents; husbands, Billy Jack Ford and Steven H. Steele, and two brothers, Kenneth Symonds and Jimmy Symonds.

Andrew John Munds, 29, of Wichita, died September 2, 2023, as a result of an accident following his passion, rock climbing, near Frisco, CO. He was born February 8, 1994, in Hutchinson, to Mark and Brenda (Engel) Munds.&nbsp;

Andrew graduated from high school in Wichita, received his Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Physics from Wichita State University in 2017, and was working on his PhD in math and business at WSU. Andrew worked with his family at Munds Energy in Hutchinson. He loved rock climbing, golf, snowboarding, playing the guitar, hot yoga, and game night with family and friends. Andew volunteered at the Wichita Humane Society, Hutchinson Meals on Wheels, and was active in Saint Paul Catholic Student Center at WSU.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, John and Janice Munds and Darrell and Anita Engel.&nbsp;

Bradly Lynn Gibson, 63, of South Hutchinson, died September 1, 2023, at his home. He was born May 23, 1960, in Kiowa, to Gary B. and Sondra K. (Jones) Gibson.

Brad attended Nickerson schools. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved riding motorcycles. Brad also enjoyed constructing model cars and, in his younger years, going to his Grandpa and Grandma Jones farm near Hazelton.

In 1985, Brad married Carla Holeman and they had two daughters.

He is survived by: his daughters, Lawren Hinson (Brian) of South Hutchinson, Morgan Gibson of Moline; granddaughter, Makinzie Hinson; and mother, Sondra Gibson of South Hutchinson.

Brad was preceded in death by his father.

Gloria A. (Koehn) Wiggers, 102, of Moundridge, Kansas, died Monday, September 4, 2023 at the Moundridge Manor. She was born January 20, 1921 in McPherson County, Kansas to David J. and Susie (Boese) Koehn.

On May 4, 1941 she married Arverd Robert Wiggers at Galva, Kansas.

Gloria lived in Clarksdale, Mississippi area for many years. She became a resident of the Moundridge Manor in June of 2006.

Her survivors include her two daughters, Marilyn Smith of Leland, MS, and Judith (Stan) Esau of Vanceboro, NC; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson; and three great-great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; six brothers; four sisters; one son-in-law; and one great-granddaughter.

 She was born June 19, 1930 in Newton to Nickolai and Susan (Unruh) Schmidt.  She married Walden Duerksen October 24, 1950 at Tabor Mennonite Church rural Newton. 

 Survivors include: sons, Londell (LeNora) Duerksen of Rural Goessel, Russell (Sandra) Duerksen of Rural Goessel; daughters, Tamara (Cal) Jost Rural Hillsboro, Kimberly (Darwin) Funk Rural Goessel; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; sister, DeLome (Jerol) Schmidt of Rural Newton. Wiley Lee VanHoose, 83, died September 1, 2023, at his home in Abbyville, with his wife and son by his side. &nbsp;He was born June 19, 1940, in Fairland, OK, to Joe Dennis and Luchendia (Hunter) VanHoose.

Wiley graduated from Abbyville High School in 1958. He retired from Cessna/Eaton after over 40 years of service. Wiley enjoyed camping and was a member of Abbyville Community Church.

On July 15, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Beulah Rush, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;

Wiley is survived by: his bride of 64 years, Beulah VanHoose of Abbyville; son, Clay VanHoose (Cammie Elliott) of Hutchinson; grandsons, Jake Norquist and David VanHoose; and great-granddaughters, Lillian VanHoose and Truvy VanHoose.

Gordon Hobbs, 80, originally from Turon, died September 1, 2023, at Paramount Community Living and Rehab, Newton. He was born September 24, 1942, in Turon, to Francis L. and Mildred P. (Martin) Hobbs.

Gordon graduated from Turon High School in 1960, and attended Hutchinson Community College. On November 19, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Marsha Hobbs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Gordon moved back to Turon in 1973 to take over the family farm. He retired and moved to Hutchinson after farming for 40 years. He enjoyed raising livestock and being outdoors, but driving the combine for wheat harvest was his favorite. Gordon loved dogs and always had at least one by his side or on his lap. Gordon was an athlete as a young man and known to be ornery, pestering his grandchildren even up until his last days. He had a passion for old cars and in later years he enjoyed entering his own antique cars in local car shows and parades. In retirement, Gordon and Marsha could be found dining out, visiting a casino, or playing games with cherished friends. Gordon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Gordon is survived by: his daughters, Sheli (Jim) DeVolder, Spring, TX, Kim (Mike) Hall, Sioux Falls, SD, and Melissa (Stephen) Dick, Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Matthew DeVolder, Spring, TX, Jacob DeVolder, Nashville, TN, Nathaniel (Stephanie) Edwards, Albany, NY, Alex Dick, Omaha, NE, and Allyson Dick, Omaha, NE; sister, Donna (Bob) Keller, High Point, NC.

Deanna was born on July 29, 1940, in Beloit, KS, the daughter of Dean Harrison and Ida Ann (Leonhart) Williams.&nbsp; She graduated from Beloit High School (Beloit, KS) in 1958.&nbsp; On September 18, 1960, Deanna was united in marriage to Marion Eugene White in Downs, KS.&nbsp; They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing on January 5, 2021.

Survivors include: children, Tammy Davison (Tim), Jeffery White (Tonya), and Alan White (Tami), all of McPherson, KS; brother-in-law, Gary White (Delores) of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Mike Davison (Heather Lewis), Ashley McAllister (Bill Allen), Cody Davison (Sarah), Grant Fletcher, Natoshia Adams (Bryce), and Brittanee’ White; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jayce, Kenzley, Roman, Jesse, BrynnLeigh, Gable, Ava, Everly, Wilder, Wyatt, Logan, Jaidon, and Izzy; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.&nbsp;

Janet Lyn Keef-Torkelson, 52, passed away on August 13, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born in Wichita, Kansas to James and Jeannie Keef. She was a lifelong resident of Wichita. She was in the class of 1990 and graduated Wichita Southeast High School. After her graduation she trained at Mothers Grooming, then left to work at Indian Hills Animal Clinic, Cut-N-Strut Dog Grooming. Later, she owned her own dog grooming shop called All Breeds Pet Grooming. After that she worked for Bonjour's Puppy Parade.

She was an active member of Kairos Outreach, where she went on and supported families of people of incarceration.

Janet is preceded in death by James and Jeanie Keef, Barbara Byrd.

She is survived by Eric Torkelson, children: Jason Torkelson (step-son), Dalton Torkelson, Stratton Torkelson, Viviann Do (daughter in law), Chloe Torkelson, grandchildren: Trace Torkelson, Cannon Torkelson, Kinsley Torkelson, Xakaia Rai Pattinson, brother William Romine and sister Leanna Benson, numerous nephews, nieces, other family and friends.&nbsp;

Carol Jo (Horttor) Cowel, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. She was surrounded by her four children and husband of 64 years.

Carol was born on December 7, 1937, in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was the first born of 5 children to Ardith and Eva (Klopp) Horttor. She was a long time resident on a farm in Blue Mound, Kansas.

She was a registered nurse and retired from Northeast Nursing Home caring for those who could not care for themselves anymore. Not to set at home, she went to be a helper to the children on the school bus at Valley Center School District.

Carol is survived by her husband Delbert Cowel, daughters Pam Cowel and Debra Cowel, sons Jeff Cowel and Steve (Chris) Cowel, grandchildren Jake Cowel, Michael Lary and Mackenzie Lary, brother Deloss (Kathleen) Horttor, many other family and friends.

Services to be held at Calvary Baptist Church located at 320 N Sheridan Ave. Valley Center, Kansas on Tuesday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m.

She was born to Orville &amp; Hattie (Kilgore) Ochs on July 30, 1925 in Sublette, Kansas and became a Christian at a youth event at Plymell Church in 1940. After living in several states, she moved to Valley Center and worked 25 years at Leekers for boss and good friend, Chris Steindler.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband O. L. Speer, son Tommy Wilson Schreiber, grandson Jason Sisler, and her siblings, Archie, Eugene, Eileen and Kenneth.

John Martinez, 94, died August 28, 2023, at his home in Goddard. &nbsp;He was born June 12, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Luis and Pevia (Magana) Martinez.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School and served in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army. &nbsp; He continued serving his country by joining the Army National Guard, retiring as a Captain. &nbsp;John also worked as an associate office coordinator for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 40 years of service. He enjoyed collecting tools, working in his yard, and keeping busy. &nbsp;John’s faith was very important to him. &nbsp;He grew up in St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, and was currently a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte. &nbsp;John was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp;

On June 20, 1981, he married Shirley Bishop, in Norwich.

John is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of 42 years, Shirley Martinez; children, John David Martinez, Ruth Annette Meek (Mark), Sandra Lynn Bell (Bill), Gary Drake Martinez, Donita Bunke (Jim), Rick Dolley (Gina), Mike Dolley, Robert Dolley (Kelly), and Brent Dolley (Christina); sister, Lucille Vieyra; special nephew, Christopher Vieyra; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Juanita Faye “Bobbi” Shultz, 84, passed away suddenly in Great Bend, KS on August 29, 2023. 

Born in Raymond, KS on December 29,1938, she was the daughter of Clarence &amp; Dora (Hughbanks) Messick. As a longtime Raymond resident, she graduated High School in Raymond and worked at the Jr. High School for 25+ years as a cook. She married Darrell Lee Shultz on March 17, 1957 at Raymond Baptist Church. They moved into her dream home in Ellinwood, in 2012. 

Bobbi was a member of the Raymond Baptist Church and Auxiliary. She always enjoyed a good card game. She loved watching her favorite sports teams; Chiefs, Jayhawks, Shockers and Royals while drinking a cold Coors Light with her four legged companion Pumper in her lap.

Survivors include son, James (Valerie) Shultz Chase, KS, daughters, Christi (Bruce) Thomson, Raymond, KS and Sheri (Ronnie) Hoover, El Dorado, KS, sister, Kay (John) Fore; grandchildren, Tiffany (Bobby) Webb, Tenelle (Brent) Nuest, Shawnda Wood, Jeremy Wood (Sierra), Dane Wood (Brinna), Jacob (Lyndsey) Hoover, Jaci (Ryan) Wolfe and 21 beloved great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrell; and brothers Jack &amp; Bud Messick.

Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m., Sat., Sept. 2, 2023 at Raymond Hilltop Cemetery with Pastor Thomas Reazin officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow at the American Legion Post 320-Ellinwood. Born in Raymond, KS on December 29,1938, she was the daughter of Clarence &amp; Dora (Hughbanks) Messick. As a longtime Raymond resident, she graduated High School in Raymond and worked at the Jr. High School for 25+ years as a cook. She married Darrell Lee Shultz on March 17, 1957 at Raymond Baptist Church. They moved into her dream home in Ellinwood, in 2012. Bobbi was a member of the Raymond Baptist Church and Auxiliary. Dixie Lee Easdon, 86, met her Savior face to face on August 29, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends. &nbsp;She was born April 20, 1937, in Waterloo, IA, to Robert William and Laura Marguerite (Nichols) McCarthy.

Dixie graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, Fremont, NE, in 1956. She obtained her Associates Degree in 1987 from Hutchinson Community College and worked as a librarian for the college while attending.

Dixie enjoyed many hobbies including scrapbooking, stamping, crocheting, cooking, and reading. Her favorite was sewing and had a room full of sewing and other craft supplies. Volunteering was another passion. Dixie volunteered at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Hospice and Home Care of Reno County, Open Door Health Services, formerly known as Open Door Pregnancy Care Center for 20 plus years, and for Bethany Church of the Nazarene for 25 plus years, where she was a devoted member.

On November 3, 1956, she married Charles Franklin Easdon in Council Bluffs, IA. He survives.

Also surviving are: &nbsp;children, Jerry (Judi) Easdon of Hollister, MO, Paula Sue (Terry) Endicott of Broken Arrow, OK, Jess (Kim) Easdon of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Steve (Vickie) Douglas of Broken Arrow, OK; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren plus scores of bonus children.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Pamela Douglas; siblings, Barbara Grasseschi and Bill McCarthy; and granddaughter, Hannah Easdon.

Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Bethany Church of the Nazarene, 408 N Kent Rd. Hutchinson, KS 67501, with Pastor Jason Avery officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson. Bobby (Bob) Niblett 89, went peacefully home to his Lord and Savior, whom he served faithfully, on August 29, 2023.<a></a>

He served many years as a Deacon in the Baptist church but faithfully attended the Legacy Worship Center (Westside Freewill Baptist) in Wichita, KS for the last 17 years. Bob was dearly loved by his family, and he loved them.

Bob is survived by his wife Geraldine of the home; sons Bobby G and Allyson Niblett Jr., Jerry, and Rebecca Niblett; daughter Lisa and Steve Hagg; brothers Jim and Bill Slaughter and sister Linda Trice. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Cole and Emma (Essary) Niblett; sister Betty Bonge and brothers Coy and Jack Niblett

A graveside committal service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday September 5, 2023, at Petersen Family Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas.

Betty J. Misegadis, 90, Rush Center, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas.

Betty was born May 3, 1933, in rural Rush Center, Kansas, the daughter of Fredrick Samuel “Fred” and Frances Josephine “Fanny” (Schreiber) Keener. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1951 graduate of La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, Betty was a homemaker and farm wife. Along with her husband, Dean, they owned and operated Dean’s TV &amp; Appliance, Rush Center and La Crosse, Kansas. They also owned and operated the cable tv system in McCracken, Kansas.

Betty loved being involved in her community. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, WELCA, Hope Lutheran Church Council, Hope Lutheran Church Quilt Club, and the Walnut Valley Saddle Club, all of Rush Center, Kansas. She was the last charter member of the Walnut Valley Senior Center, Rush Center, Kansas. She was a member of the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce, and the La Crosse Booster Club, both of La Crosse, Kansas. She was a 4-H leader. Her Unit could be found for many years manning the horticulture booth at the Rush County Fair. She loved holidays and was very proud of the Pride Park tree she was instrumental in planting, which is decorated every year with lights for Christmas.
