Joseph Manuel Torrez, Jr., 38, died unexpectedly May 24, 2024, at his home. He was born February 7, 1986, in Hutchinson, to Joseph Gerard Torrez and Melissa Diane Crafton.
Joseph, or “Little Joe” as he was fondly called by his family and friends, graduated from Hutchinson High School, where he played football and wrestled. He enjoyed writing, painting, playing video games and his saxophone, and lifting weights. Joseph’s faith and family were what he treasured the most. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, reading his Bible and daily praying the Rosary. Joseph cherished the time spent with his family and he would do anything for them.
Joseph is survived by: his mother, Melissa Crafton; father, Joe Torrez, both of Hutchinson; siblings, Jessica Phillips, Mary Torrez (Chris Biswell), Marcus Torrez, Alec Torrez, Trinity Torrez, Abigail Torrez, Rebeka Torrez, Eva Torrez, Julian Torrez, and Nicholas Torrez; nieces, Eloise and Francesca Biswell and Lyla and Mya Phillips; nephew, Alejandro Torrez; grandfather, Frank Torrez; grandmother, Louise Wagner, all of Hutchinson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his brother, Matthew Torrez; grandfather, Melvin Crafton; grandmother, Mary Torrez; uncle, Ray Torrez; and aunt, Angela Young.
Parish Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at the church. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2024, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the rosary at the church.
