Edith Enns, 94, of Inman, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. She was born on November 20, 1925 to Jacob and Marie (Harder) Loeffler on a farm near Meade, Kansas.

It was love at first sight for Menno when he met a new girl in town, Edith Loeffler, at choir practice in 1940. They were married on November 28, 1943 at Bethel Mennonite Church in Inman. Menno and Edith were ranchers, members of the American Quarter Horse Association and American Hereford Association. They were charter members of the Sandhill Saddle Club and helped organize the Thomadora 4-H club, where all three of their children were members. She was a 4-H leader and she and Menno hosted horse judging schools for the 4-H members at their 4-E Ranch for 25 years. She traveled many miles with Menno when he judged horse shows throughout the United States.

Edith was a talented seamstress, sewing for others for many years. She was well known for her hospitality. The coffee was always on and the cookies were homemade. Lots of good times were had around her table. Menno and Edith were married for over 76 years. He always brought her wildflowers he would pick when checking pastures. They never stopped holding hands.

Edith is survived by her devoted husband, Menno; daughters, Judy Bryant, and Jan (Steve) Spiller; daughter-in-law, Judy Enns; grandchildren, Ray (Rachel) Enns, and Meghann Myers; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Violet Enns; sister, Lillian Woelk; brothers, Ervin Loeffler and Arley Loeffler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved son, Roger; and sister, Pauline Loeffler.

Anna J. Cole, 93, of Hutchinson, died July 15, 2020, at her residence. She was born January 1, 1927, in Arthur, IL, to Joseph and Katie (Beachy) Helmuth.

Anna had many jobs over the years, including a daycare, dry cleaners, school aide, and caring for the elderly. She loved bowling, Bingo, and especially traveling. Anna was a member of Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson.

She married James Cole, in Hutchinson. He passed away April 14, 2007.

Anna is survived by: daughter, Cynthia Cole, Wichita; grandchildren, Elly Mills (Christopher), Hutchinson, Phyllis Drake, Serenity Shelby, Desirea Shelby, Junior Shelby, Amare Shelby, Jace Shelby, all of Wichita, Scott Cole, Missouri; brother, Johnny Helmuth, Indiana; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, James Cole; sons, Randy and Roger Cole; three sisters; and two brothers.

Opal Leona Krehbiel, 95, of Hutchinson, passed peacefully and left the loving care of her family to be reunited with her heavenly family on July 15, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. Opal was born January 7, 1925, in Pretty Prairie, to Ben P.O. and Adina (Graber) Graber.

She attended Savage Elementary School and was a 1943 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School. Opal helped her parents on the farm. She worked in retail at Kresses Department Store, Frank’s Fashion Center, and Long’s of Hutchinson. Opal retired in 1990 with seventeen years of service in processing and inter-library loans from the Hutchinson Public Library. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, and served on various committees. Opal enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking for her family, especially making peppernuts, homemade cinnamon rolls, peach jam, and ethnic dishes. She was a resident of Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler.

On January 7, 1945, she married Leroy D. Krehbiel, at the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church. They shared over fifty-seven years of marriage, prior to his death on April 6, 2002.

Opal is survived by her children, Karen (Ed) Wagner, Jack (Faith) Krehbiel, and Tamara Gwaltney; grandchildren, Krista (Jason) Votruba, Lisa (Dave) Wright, Ryan (Julie) Wagner, Malinda (John) O’Hara, Jennifer (Alex) Sullivan, and Kyle Gwaltney; and great-grandchildren, Vaughn and Katelyn Votruba, Molly, Maggie, and Megan Wright, Jack and Abby Wagner, and Ethan, Isaac, and Elizabeth O’Hara.

Marcia Ann Allen, 86, of Buhler, died July 10, 2020, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born on October 15, 1933, in Oneonta, New York, to Charles and Thelma (Guild) Keller.

Marcia graduated from St. Petersburg High School and attended Bixby Business College, both in St. Petersburg, Florida. She worked for a law firm as a secretary and later as a CNA doing home health visits.

Marcia is survived by daughters, Patricia Yapp (Mark), Hutchinson, and Virginia Hurst, Sterling; grandchildren, Jonathon Yapp (Erica), Hutchinson, Jennifer Brillhart (Brian), Hutchinson, Daniel Yapp (Federica), Wichita, and Christopher Weeks, Sterling; great-grandchildren, Nathan, David, Luke, Bethel, Abram, Ruthie, Seth, and Worth; sister, Gingie Cummins, Lorida, Florida; and brother, John Keller, Erie, Pennsylvania.

Tony R. Dole, 64, of Goddard, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at his home.&nbsp; He was born February 25, 1956 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of James R. and Lola J. (Castleman) Dole.

He worked at Martin Machine for the last 10 years in Halstead.

Tony grew up in Hutchinson and the surrounding areas.&nbsp; He graduated from Sterling High School with the class of 1974.&nbsp; He later moved to Haven, where he resided for many years until moving to Goddard where he made his home until his death.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs football.&nbsp; Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially watching and cheering on his grandsons in all sports.

Tony was united in marriage to Cindy L. (Schoonover) Thompson on March 19, 1993 in Miami, Oklahoma.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

He is also survived by his children, Crystal (Kevin) Archer, and their sons, Quinton and Colton Archer of Omaha, NE, Zachary (Stefani) Dole and their sons, Zander and Skyler Dole of Colwich, and Melanie Dole of Goddard; brother, Bradley Dole of Hutchinson; step-mother, Pamela K. Dole; half-brother, James Dole both of Burrton; step-brother, Cliff (Jill) Dole of Virginia; and step-sister, Heidi Dole of Hutchinson.

On January 19, 1958, she married Frank J. Gulotta Jr. in Hutchinson. They shared 61 years of marriage before his death on October 26, 2019.

Barbara is survived by: daughter, Janet Gulotta-Carlile (Cy), of Hutchinson; son, Steve Gulotta of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Alex Gulotta, Chelsea James (Nate), Joanna Ramsey, Mike Ramsey, Kylie Hartman, Derek Talbott; great-grandchildren, Veronica and A.J. Dr. Varden J. Loganbill, 94, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Pine Village. He was born April 17, 1926 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Jesse and Evangeline (Becker) Loganbill.

Varden married Luella Zerger on May 31, 1950. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School, Bethel College, and Kansas University School of Medicine in Kansas City. Upon graduating, Varden completed his internship at Wesley Hospital in Wichita and then began his private practice in McPherson. After one year, the family moved to Moundridge where Varden, with his partner, Dr. Willard Kaufman, began their medical practice. He served the Moundridge and Inman communities for over 40 years.

In addition to his medical practice, Varden was an integral part of the church and community. He served First Mennonite Church of Christian in many capacities. He was a member of Lion’s Club, served on the school board and was instrumental in bringing the swimming pool, tennis courts, and park shelters to Moundridge. Varden was an avid supporter of Bethel College, as well as numerous other Mennonite and philanthropic organizations. Varden’s love for family, caring demeanor, commitment to others and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Marcus (Cynthia) Loganbill, Valerie (John) Klaassen, and Blair (Lisa) Loganbill; brother, Denard Loganbill; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joyce Zerger, Kathleen (Kerm) Wedel, Ted (Vera) Zerger, Carol Jenner, and Ed Altman; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Megan (Brad), Daniel (Megan), Christian (Jaimie), Patrick, Genet, Alec (Stephanie) and Mia; and four great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Lawrence, Eliza, and Kasen.

Danellda ‘Dee’ A. Parrish, 70, died July 8, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born December 17, 1949, in Ellsworth, to Karl G. and Danellda L. (Lange) Pflughoeft.&nbsp;

Dee was a 1967 graduate of Ellsworth High School and 1971 graduate of Kansas State University. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, antiquing, fishing, and farming. Dee loved her pets, but her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, were the roles that she most treasured.

On January 8, 1971, she married Robert ‘Red’ Eugene Parrish, in Kansas City, MO. They shared over forty-nine years of marriage.

Dee is survived by her husband, Robert ‘Red’ Parrish of Little River; children, Tammy Parrish, Leah LaGreca, John Parrish, and Becky (Ryan) Erickson; grandchildren, Mitch Kempke, Shannon Duskie, Erin Lewis, Katie Thacker, Nick LaGreca, Cody LaGreca, Peyton Erickson, and Reece Erickson; and seven great-grandchildren.

Larry Dean Hicks, 68, of Hutchinson, died July 6, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1951, in Great Bend, to James and Sylvia (Clayton) Hicks.

Larry graduated from Buhler High School in 1970 and earned his associate’s degree from Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a material handler for Eaton. Larry had his pilot’s license and loved hunting, fishing, and wildlife. He enjoyed going on missions trips with Union Valley Bible Church, where he was a member.

On May 26, 1990, Larry married Joyce Harder, in Hutchinson. They shared 30 years of marriage together.

He is survived by: wife, Joyce Hicks, Hutchinson; son, Shaun Hicks, Hutchinson; stepsons, Travis Smiley (Patricia), North Carolina, Cannon Smiley (Stacy), South Dakota; stepdaughter, Heather Smiley, Minnesota; adopted sons, Danny Blevins, Wichita, Scott Anderson (Shannon), Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Hicks.

Delbert M. Ediger, 91, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Pleasant View Home, Inman. He was born June 21, 1929 on the farm in McPherson County, the son of Peter H. and Katie Martens Ediger. He was a graduate of Inman High School and had been a dairy farmer most of his life. He was a member of Hoffnungsau Church, where he was a deacon, a trustee, and taught adult Sunday School. He was baptized on March 20, 1945. 

Delbert was a member of the Inman School board, enjoyed woodworking, and loved taking bus tours with his wife Lillian.

He married Lillian Neufeld on September 29, 1950 at Hoffnungsau Church. She survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Stan (Jenise) Ediger, Inman; a daughter, Beverly (Wayne) Harder, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a sister in law, LaVerna Ediger, Inman. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020 at Inman Funeral Home, with the family present. eidaVonne Zeek, 88, of Hutchinson, quietly and triumphantly entered into eternal rest on July 4, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village. She was born October 2, 1931, in Beloit, to Carl and Julia (Finney) Broadbent.

NeidaVonne attended Laban District 82 and Georgia District 90 elementary schools and graduated from Beloit High School in 1949. She began working as a nurse’s aide at Mitchell County Hospital, in Beloit. NeidaVonne’s life’s work was caring for elderly women in her home, which she continued when her family moved to Hutchinson in 1980.

In September 1949, NeidaVonne married Kenneth Zeek, in Beloit. They had two children, Juanita Diane and Paul Galen. In 1956, they moved to McPherson and later, Kenneth began commuting to Hutchinson to work at CESSNA. In 1993, Kenneth had his first heart attack, so they retired and began traveling in their fifth-wheel camper for 15 years, spending their winters in Kerrville, Texas and summers in Gunnison, Colorado. Health issues brought them back to Hutchinson and Kenneth passed away in 2012.

In McPherson, Kenneth and NeidaVonne were members of the Church of Christ and easily became a part of the Eastwood Church of Christ when they moved to Hutchinson. NeidaVonne will always be remembered as a loyal friend, fun, and spirited participant in church activities. She taught Sunday school classes, did uncountable good deeds, and was a dedicated Christian woman. NeidaVonne will be greatly missed and very fondly remembered.

She is survived by daughter, Juanita Pendlay (Bill Jr.), McPherson; brother, Carldon Broadbent, Beloit; sister, Beverly Hobbs, Beloit; and grandson, Heath Pendlay, Montana.

George Dewey Lawrence, 92, of Hutchinson, died July 6, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1928, in Hutchinson, the son of Lester and Blanche (Miller) Lawrence.

George did carpentry work, building many houses in the Farmington addition, before starting Lawrence Vending Company, which he owned and operated for 30 years. He was a member of Kansas Candy and Tobacco Venders Association and received their Citizen of the Year award. George also enjoyed bowling with the Men’s Bowling Association. He attended First Southern Baptist Church and was a member of the Optimist Club and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, receiving their Volunteer of the Year award. George enjoyed Coffee Club at the Legion, fishing, and being an ornery grandpa.

On May 6, 1960, he married Alta F. Christian in Hutchinson. They shared 60 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: sons, Chris Neil (Suzanne), Hutchinson, Steve Lawrence (Kathie), California, Gary Lawrence (Susan), Oklahoma, Dennis Lawrence, Texas; daughter, Jackie Lawrence, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Aaron Lawrence (Julie), California, Danna Douglas (Matt), Hutchinson, Crystal Frank (Justin), Inman, Amanda Trammel (fiancé Nathan Martin), Hutchinson; sister, Pat Smith (Richard E.), Hutchinson; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Kansas Candy and Tobacco Venders Association and received their Citizen of the Year award. George also enjoyed bowling with the Men’s Bowling Association. He attended First Southern Baptist Church and was a member of the Optimist Club and American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, receiving their Volunteer of the Year award. George enjoyed Coffee Club at the Legion, fishing, and being an ornery grandpa.On May 6, 1960, he married Alta F. Christian in Hutchinson. They shared 60 years of marriage. Roy Allen Goss, 77, died July 3, 2020, at his home. He was born July 19, 1942, in Hutchinson, to Talbert E. ‘Tobe’ and Ora F. (Price) Goss.

Roy attended Lincoln Grade School, Sherman Junior High, and Wichita North High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968. Roy received four medals: National Defense and Vietnam Service Medals, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, with three Stars. He was a semi-truck parts salesman from 1969- 2006. Roy most recently enjoyed driving the bus for residents at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, and playing pool daily. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and a member of Westside Baptist Church.&nbsp;

On November 15, 1968, he married Mary Ann Ashley in Lyons. She died February 15, 2008. On November 3, 2019, he married Barbara (Ahrens) Hodges. Barbara and Roy knew each other over 20 years through Westside Baptist Church.

&nbsp;Roy is survived by wife, Barbara of South Hutchinson; son, Joshua Goss and wife Martina; grandchildren, Dominik and Natalie, all of Shelton, Connecticut; bonus daughter, Sheila Friesen and husband Travis of Hutchinson and her children, Savannah, Ethan, and Nathan Pace; great-grandson, Ryker Oldenettel; and sisters, Glenda Forbes of South Hutchinson, and Cleo Gualdoni of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Robyn (who died in 1976); and a brother, Morris Goss.

Hiram M. Love, 81, died on July 2, 2020 at his home. He was born June 10, 1939, in Lafette, AL, to Sam and Annie (Hubbard) Love.

Hiram graduated from Lafette High School and attended Brunswick Community College. On December 13, 1997 he married Doris Presley in Kingsland, GA. Hiram was an Antique and Collectibles dealer. He spent most of his adult life on stage. Hiram played guitar and sang southern gospel, was a member of a gospel quartet for many years singing base. He was also president and general manager of Christian television in Brunsiwck for over 25 years and wrote and preached many gospel sermons in Alabama and Georgia. He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.

Hiram was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Mike Larson and a sister, Sara Harper.

Survivors include his wife Doris Love; a son, Jarod Love of Reidsville, GA; two step-daughters, Nancy Nichols, of Brunswick, GA, and Pat Paige of St. Simons, GA; seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Thomas L. Regier, 53, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in Hutchinson. He was born February 14, 1967 to Leland and Luella Jane (Holmes) Regier.

He graduated from Buhler High School with the class of 1985.

Tom was a longtime employee of Dillons Food Store in Hutchinson, working as a department manager.

Tom liked watching and rooting for his favorite teams the Kansas Jayhawks and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved communicating on Facebook with his family and friends and was always finding humorous stories or pictures to share. He lived life loving his family and his Lord.

He was a member of Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church.

Tom was survived by his brothers, Steven Regier of Fresno, CA; and James (Tracy) Regier of Overland Park; one niece and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Jane Regier; and brother, Paul.

On November 30, 1991, he married Julie Crew at the Church of Christ, in Nickerson. They shared over 28 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Ernie graduated from Fairfield High School. He was a ‘true-grit’ cowboy who always put his family first. Ernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a ‘Man of God’, always willing to help, and to give of his time and attention for family, friends, and even strangers. If help was needed, you could count on Ernie to be there.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Combs of Arlington; son, Justin (Chelcee) Combs of Arlington; daughters, Kylie Combs of Abbyville, and Kaylie Combs of Arlington; granddaughter, Kendall Grace Combs (affectionately known as ‘Papa’s Pistol Princess’); sisters, Sue (W.D.) Redd and Nancy Branscom, both of Hutchinson; brother, Marion Combs of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beth Pierson.

Loa Ann Gibson, 74, of Hutchinson, died June 30, 2020, at Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family, after a short battle with gall bladder cancer. She was born August 18, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Rowland and Nadine (Norris) Redinger.

Loa Ann graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1963. She worked at Western Foods, then later at Consolidated Manufacturing, before retiring. Loa Ann attended Crosspoint Church, Hutchinson.

In 1963, she married Fred McCaskey. They were blessed with two daughters. They later divorced and Fred married Marion, who became a beloved friend to Loa Ann and stepmother to the girls.

Loa Ann loved KU basketball, going shopping with her daughter, Lora, and spending time with family, especially her ‘Journey Girl’. Her number one love was NASCAR racing. She was #10 Aric Almirola’s biggest fan and her dream came true last year when daughter, Shelly, took her to her first NASCAR race. Loa Ann always worried about others and would help them before herself.

She is survived by daughters, Shelly (Terry) Palmatier, Haven, and Lora Ryan, Hutchinson; sister, Renee Retterer, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ryan (Elizabeth) Allan, Hutchinson, Joshua (Lindsey) Allan, Colwich, Cody (Kelsey) Beaton, Wichita, Kirsten (Beau) Peterson, McPherson, and Kenneth ‘KJ’ Ryan, Hutchinson; step grandchildren, Chase and Brooke Palmatier, Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Journey Allan, Hutchinson, Alyssa, Kaylee, and Greer Allan, Colwich, Ella and Natasha Peterson, McPherson; aunt, Faye Dunn, Wichita; and numerous cousins and special friends.

Melvin was a retired farmer and carpenter. Many family and friends enjoyed and benefited from his talent in furniture making. Melvin was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church.

On August 15, 1948, he married Gertie Yoder. They shared almost 72 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Morris (Gloria) Yoder, Hutchinson, Marlene (Ben) Miller, Wichita, Marilyn (Bob) Swartzbeck, Fort Worth, TX, Lorena Perodin, Westminster, CO, and Doris (Randy) Yoder, Yuma, AZ; 11 grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Yoder of Hutchinson; and brother, Harry Yoder of Middlebury, IN.

Dale enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on motors, and spending time with his family and friends. He never knew a stranger.

Delsie Clara Krenke, 85, of Haven, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at her home. She was born September 9, 1934, in Pratt, Kansas, the daughter of Julius W. and Anna (Thonhoff) Hoeme.

After she graduated high school, Delsie attended nursing school in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She worked in various health settings before retiring in October of 1996, after 44 years of caring and dedication to others.

Delsie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haven.

She was united in marriage to Arnold “Arnie” E. Krenke on August 3, 1958 in Natrona, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2009.

Delsie is survived by her son, Greg (Laurie) Krenke of Olathe; daughters, Lisa Rinehart and Nancy Krenke, both of Haven; sister, Audrey Jenisch; six grandchildren, Stacy Krenke Wurtz (Toby), Katie Krenke Thompson (Jesse), Megan Rinehart Nech (Corey), Forrest Krenke (Caitlyn), Gabrielle Rinehart, and Rachael Rinehart Campbell (Greg); and six great-grandchildren, Wesley, Kolby, Averie, Brody, Hadley and Paislee.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and eight siblings, Dorothy Letholt, Lola Daniels, Shirley Ann Hoeme, Julius Hoeme, Ewald Hoeme, Dwayne Hoeme, Forrest Dean Hoeme and Gordon Hoeme.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Haven, Kansas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Ott Funeral Home. Clarence D. Ledbetter, 83, passed away at his home in Buhler on June 29, 2020. He was born April 20, 1937 in Stone County, Missouri, the son of Amos Riley and Emma Francis Spitler Ledbetter. He was a truck driver most of his life and had worked as a parts runner for Louie’s Service Center after retirement. He loved to restore old tractors.

He married Phyllis Solida on May 28, 1983 in Hutchinson. She died January 6, 2016. 

Survivors include a daughter Pam (Barry) Babcock, Hutchinson; a son, Charles (Cindy) Ledbetter, Oklahoma City, OK; a brother, Royce Hubert (June) Ledbetter, Clever, MO; six grandchildren, Chris, Matthew, Heather, Beth, Christina, and Terry; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Delmer, Jack, and Henry Lee; a sister, Lillie Fern; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn “Little Booger”; and a grandson, Charles Ledbetter, Jr.
