Billy Lee Spaniol, 91, passed away Jan. 10, 2021, at his daughter’s home. He was born May 30, 1929, in Plevna, to William L. and Matilda (Rapp) Spaniol.

Billy was a 1948 graduate of Plevna High School.  He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Billy was a farmer, and worked at Consolidated Manufacturing for 22 years. He was a member of IOOF #248, V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. Billy was also a member of New Life Christian Church, Hutchinson. 

On Sept. 12, 1975, he married Rosalie Ann Uphoff, in Newton. They shared over 36 years of marriage, prior to her death on July 4, 2012.

Billy is survived by his children, Melody Vest of Arlington, Terry Spaniol of Hutchinson, Cindy Renollet of Arlington, Gary (Theresa) Landes of Hutchinson, Jeff (Kendra) Landes of Iowa City, IA, Sherri Landes, Heidi (Chris) Evans, and Holly (Steve) Pitts all of Hutchinson; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dale and Gale Spaniol; daughter, Rochelle Landes; sons-in-law, Charles Vest and Mike Renollet; step-grandson, Dunstan Wagoner; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with The Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. 

Masonic rites will be conducted by Hutchinson Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M.

Burial with military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honors Team in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
