Gene Allen Schrock, 82, died Jan. 12, 2021, at Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa, Wichita. He was born May 9, 1938, in Plevna, to William E. and Bertha (Stuckey) Schrock.

Gene graduated from Plevna High School and worked in the Dillons Warehouse for over 42 years. He enjoyed woodworking, was a lifetime member of Church of the Holy Cross, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #612. Gene, along with his wife, Mary Ellen, attended almost every sporting and school event that their four grandchildren took part in throughout the years. His four grandchildren were the light of his life.

On Jan. 6, 1962, he married Mary Ellen Egbert at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. They shared 59 years of marriage.

Gene is survived by wife, Mary Ellen Schrock; children, Ann Schrock, Matthew Schrock (Angella); grandchildren, Joseph, Madison, Elizabeth, and Hannah Schrock; sister, Elnor Gear; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Schrock and Darlene Schrock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Schrock; sisters, Mildred Schrock and Kathryn Koons; and brothers, Richard Schrock and Billy Schrock.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
