Kimberly Dawn (Stockham) Smith, 55, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, KS.&nbsp;

Kim was born on August 21, 1967, in El Dorado, KS, the daughter of Ronald Lee and Cynthia Ann (Kail) Stockham.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School in 1986.&nbsp;

During her working years, Kim did in-home care for the elderly.&nbsp;

Survivors include: two brothers, Kevin Stockham and wife, Tammie, of McPherson, KS and Kelly Stockham and wife, Carrie, of McPherson, KS; uncles &amp; aunts, Steve &amp; Jeanne Kail of McPherson, KS, Quentin &amp; Cathy Stockham of Ash Grove, MO and Darrel &amp; Cheryl Stockham of Bennington, KS; longtime and dear friend, Freeda Gilroy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Cynthia Stockham, and grandparents, Dahl, Jr. &amp; Belvia Stockham and Billy &amp; Shirley Kail.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the McPherson Cemetery with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.&nbsp;

D. Eugene West was born on March 12, 1935 to Mattie Reed. He was raised by his Grandma and Grandpa Reed and 9 aunts and uncles. He died on March 22, 2023.

He is predeceased by his mother, grandparents and grandson, Brett Cushenbery, who had a very special place in his heart and son-in-law, Larry Cushenbery. He is survived by his wife, Wanda West; children: Debra Allison (Greg), Gene Jr (Lori), Yvonne Cushenbery, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Eugene was a Wichita Fire Fighter for 21 years and he worked several other jobs on his days off from the fire department. He was the manager for Wilbert Burial Vault Company after he retired and then went to work at Doric Vault in Newton, Kansas.

Eugene enjoyed most outdoor sports, fishing and hunting were a passion. He lived a good long life and especially enjoyed his family.

Kevin Lee Bruner, Sr., 60, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his home in McPherson. Kevin was a warehouse material handler for Pfizer in McPherson.

Kevin was born on December 13, 1962, in Columbia, MO, the son of Ralph Eugene and Donna Sue (Byrd) Bruner.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1981.&nbsp; Kevin was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Wright on March 31, 2002.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two sons, Aubrey and Kevin, Jr.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Patricia “Trish” of the home; two sons, Aubrey Bruner of Atlanta, GA and Kevin Bruner, Jr. (Sally Tran) of Manhattan, KS; a brother, Clinton Bruner (Dara) of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law, Kimberly Bruner of McPherson, KS; aunt, Mae Bruner of Fulton, MO; uncle, James “Peanut” Byrd of McPherson, KS; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Kevin Lee Bruner, Sr. |1962-2023|

David Dean Nuese passed 2/23/23 at Pleasant View Home, in the care of Traditions Hospice. He was 77 years 11 months and 27 days old. He was born on March 1, 1945, in Lawton, OK to Lourdes and Florence (Cooper) Nuese. He grew up in Marshall, MN, with his three younger siblings. He loved working on his grandparents’ farm in Walnut Grove, MN. He attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School and graduated in 1963. When the Vietnam Conflict began, and the draft too, he decided he would rather choose where he was going to serve than be told. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1965. He had basic training at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma before being deployed to Okinawa, Japan, where he did maintenance on airplanes. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Upon returning to the states, he went to OK, and when he returned back to MN, he returned with two appaloosas. He and his two brothers started Triple D Appaloosa. They raised and showed horses, his favorite was RB (Running Beat) which won many awards and trophies. He also started working for the Schwans Food Company in the ice cream plant, until there was a massive fire that destroyed it. He then went to Fort Dodge, IA to assist Schwans and continue making their ice cream. He also filled in for the route drivers. After the ice cream plant was rebuilt, he went back to Marshall, and was promoted to be the supervisor in the distribution freezer. He was united in marriage to Patsy Jean Plett of Inman, KS on November 11, 1977, at Inman Mennonite Church in Inman, KS. They were married for 45 happy years. After they were married, he both farmed, and worked for the Schwan’s Food Company. Alas, two full-time jobs were too much for the young family, and he had to give up farming, his true passion. He would continue to use vacation time to help his uncles with harvest by Walnut Grove, MN for many years. He continued to work at Schwans for 38 years before retiring in 2007. He was well respected by everyone he worked with and supervised. He was also a part of the founding group of people who started Marshall Area Christian School, now True Light Christian School in Marshall, MN. He was the person who made the bucket chairs for the school. He was an active member at Agape Fellowship in Marshall, MN as a deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0024. He enjoyed working, farming, woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting, guns, playing cards, trains, antiquing, especially collecting Tonka toys, driving his Harley Davidson, and spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and would talk to anyone who would take the time to listen. He is survived by his wife Patsy Nuese of Inman, his children Nichole and Keith Rasmussen of Inman, and Lance Nuese of Marshall, MN; four grandchildren Dominic Nuese-Rasmussen, Alexina Rasmussen, and Xavier Rasmussen, of Inman, KS, and Willow Russ of Marshall, MN; his sister Kathy (Hank) Moore, Doylestown, PA, his brother Dennis (Peggy) Nuese, of Marshall, MN, and Duane (MaryAnn) Nuese, of Montevideo, MN, and many nieces and nephew, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his beloved Aunt Ruby, many aunts, and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Inman Funeral Home. Military Honors will be provided by McConnell Air Force Base. Nancy Sue Bell, 65, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 3:35 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2023 at her home, surrounded by family and friends. Nancy was born in McPherson, KS on December 12, 1957, a daughter of Dean Dutton and Florence I. (McCaffree) Krell. Nancy attended Washington grade school, McPherson, Ks., Northridge grade school, Newton, Ks., Park School, McPherson, Ks., Sante Fe Jr. High School, Newton, Kansas and graduated from Newton High School, Newton, KS in 1975. She then attended Central Christian College, McPherson, KS and received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing at Tri County Nursing College, Salina, KS. Nancy was a member of the First Christian Church in McPherson. Through the years Nancy worked as a nurse for the Cedars, Dr. Larzlere Office, McPherson Hospital, was owner of Curves For Women and worked at Walmart Pharmacy, McPherson, KS until she retired in 2022. Nancy enjoyed laughing, dancing, and having fun, garage selling, loved helping people, had the heart of a nurse and loved spending time with her friends and family. Nancy Sue Krell was united in marriage to Martin Bell on July 23, 1998 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple established their first home together in McPherson. She is survived by her husband Martin Bell, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Tracy Morgan and her husband Danny, of Canton, Kansas, Daniel Perkins, of McPherson, Kansas, Lyndon Bell, of McPherson, Kansas, Lucas Bell, of Yonkers, New York and LeShell Carter and her husband Ben, of Queensland, Australia; her siblings, David Krell and his wife Sherry, of Denver, Colorado, Linda Haythorne, of Brenham, Texas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Alexa, Emilee, Skyler, Aaliyah, Jenna, Natalee and Cora; 4 great grandchildren, Brynlee, Ava, Lyla, Xavier with a baby girl on the way. Kenneth "Short" Goebel passed away on March 27, 2023. He was born on September 18, 1927, to Jake and Dorothy (Berry) Goebel.

At the age of 15, Short was a ranch hand for over 25 years on the Merrill Ranch in Comanche County.He later entered the U.S. Army and was an expert rifleman honorably discharged after his service.Short and Neomia were avid gardeners and canned most of the vegetables they grew.&nbsp; He also loved hunting, fishing and coyote hunting with his many greyhounds. 

He worked for years later at the Isabel Coop and retired in Isabel where they bought a home with land and still did gardening.&nbsp; Short and Neomia are members of the First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nettie Lee; son, Terry; and brother, Billy. Survivors include his wife, Neomia; son, Ken; and two daughters, Dottie and Betty (William); sister, Betty Mae; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and an overwhelming number of friends and acquaintances.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the First Christian Church, 300 S. Main, Medicine Lodge, Kansas.

Gary "Charlie" Dale Brown, 70, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on September 11, 1952 in Herington to Clarence Dale and Betty (Ruppel) Brown. Charlie graduated from Herington High School in 1970 and was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge, Brotherhood of Maintenance and Way Employees Division (BMWED) and American Railway and Airway Supervisor Association (ARASA). He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and retired as a track inspector after 42 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, mowing the yard, washing cars, and spending time with friends and family. Don D. Tatro, 93, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at The Cedars, McPherson.&nbsp;

Don was born on April 10, 1929, in Cherokee, OK, the son of LeRoy “Lee” Ottowa Tatro and Dora Edith (Hale) Tatro.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;He attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Alva High School in Alva, OK.&nbsp; On June 6, 1948, Don was united in marriage to Cleta E. Richardson in Alva, OK.&nbsp;

Don was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1949 to 1952.&nbsp; He served in the 45th&nbsp;Infantry Division and was honorably discharged at the rank of corporal.

While living in Oklahoma, Don worked for Shalloup Packing Company for five years and Carmen Locker &amp; Ice Plant for three years.&nbsp; While living in Pratt, KS, Don worked for Cudahy Packing Company in sales and management for 20 years. In 1980, he and Cleta purchased the Zip Trip Convenience Store until 1987 and sold to the Bridgman Oil Company.&nbsp; In 1988, they purchased a liquor store, known as Tatro Liquor, in Pratt.&nbsp; They sold the store in 1994, retired, and moved back to Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;

Don enjoyed bowling, golf, old cars, hunting with his four sons and brother, Robert “Bob”, who passed away in 2003.

Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years, Cleta; four sons, Thomas Tatro and wife, Marla, of Broken Arrow, OK, Terry Tatro and wife, Pat, of Issaquah, WA, Bob Tatro and wife, Becky, of McPherson, KS, and Gary Tatro and wife, Jo, of Cheney, KS; ten grandchildren, Ethan Tatro, Anna Tatro, Tammi Kirkpatrick, Kyle Tatro, Meghann Sterling, Chelsea Thul, Audrey Reese, Jessica Gillette, Zac Tatro, and Breanna Tatro; two step-granddaughters, Monica and Morgan; 22 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

Robert L. Joy, 79, of Ellinwood, Kansas, passed away March 28, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. 

He was born April 13, 1943, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Eldo Oliver and Lucille Marie Garver Joy. 

Robert has resided in Ellinwood since 2005, formerly of Great Bend and Garden City, Kansas. He graduated from Garden City High School, with the class of 1961. Robert attended Garden City Community College and received his master’s degree in art from Ft Hays State University. 

He was an artist, art teacher at Roosevelt Jr. High School, and Graphic Artist at Golden Belt Printing in Great Bend. Robert served in the United States Army in Vietnam in the late 1960s. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood, Botanica, Wichita, and the Wichita Art Museum. 

Robert was an artist in residence at the Shafer Art Gallery in Great Bend, and displayed his art work at numerous art galleries in the area. He also was a dancer. Robert married Loretta Monteleone. They later divorced. 

On May 7, 2005, Robert was united in marriage with Marcella Birzer in Ellinwood. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lisa Joy and (Chad Perrin) of Loveland, CO, and Allison Joy of Lincoln, NE; and nieces and nephews. 

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Allen Joy; and sister, Lois Bush. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood, with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Ellinwood with military honors by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.

Sarah Jane Prebble, 73, of Hutchinson, Kansas passed away with her family by her side on March 27, 2023 at home in Hutchinson, Kansas. 

The daughter of Elwyn and Elvira Alexander, she was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin on February 6, 1950.

She loved all animals, never knew a stranger and worked for nearly 30 years at the former Yoder Cafe and the Carriage Crossing Restaurant in Yoder, Kansas, retiring in 2023. 

She was also a member of the Salt City Cowboy Church in South Hutchinson, Kansas.

She spent more than 29 years with her partner, Lawrence (Larry) E. Prebble. They were married on June 22, 2007. He passed away on June 7, 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Crawford of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; brother, Jimmy Alexander (Theresa) of Malin, Oregon; sisters, Connie Steele of Hutchinson, Kansas, Marie Partington (Howard) of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Goldie Goodwin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Ronald Alexander; sisters, Carolyn Young and Geraldine Joyce Alexander; a sister-in-law, Alice Alexander; and a niece, Nacole Bell.

Cremation has taken place and she will be inurned alongside her husband at Sterling Cemetery in Sterling, Kansas. The Inurnment and Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Montie McFerrin of Salt City Cowboy Church, will be held on Saturday, May 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the cemetery.

There will be a luncheon immediately following at the Salt City Cowboy Church, 810 North Main Street in South Hutchinson, Kansas. There will also be a Celebration of Life and meal held on Sunday, May 7th at 1:00 p.m. at the Carriage Crossing Restaurant, 10002 South Yoder Road in Yoder, Kansas.

Sidney Stephen Landwehr, (77) passed away Sunday, March 26th, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Hardtner, Kansas to Martin Joseph Landwehr and Florence Mae (Carriker) Landwehr. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita and Goddard, Kansas. He graduated from West High School in Wichita. He was a partner at Hartley’s Iron for a decade and was self-employed at S.L. MFG until his retirement.

His hobbies were race cars, motorcycles, hunting and fishing. In his later years, he was president of the Salt Plains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Martin A. Landwehr, Edmond Lee Landwehr and sister Rose Z. Moran.

Sidney is survived by his wife Rita Landwehr and sons Sidney B. Landwehr, Stephen B. Landwehr and Joseph L. (Gayla) Landwehr; grandchildren Ashley, Amanda, Fiona, Aleiah, Sophia, Daxton, Kaelyn and Linnea; two great grandchildren Kye and Riley; brother Michael Landwehr and sisters Katherine Fikes and Margaret Landwehr; several nephews, nieces, other family and friends.

Kathy June Zahn was born April 4, 1957 in Hutchinson, KS to Pete and Velma (Schwartz) Smith. She passed away on March 27, 2023 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was 65.

On August 30, 1975, she married Steven Zahn in Hutchinson, KS. To this union, they had a daughter, Tami L. Zahn. Kathy worked as a secretary for Cheney Door Co. for 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed sweet Adelines, singing in her quartette, camping and cooking with her family. She took courses and was a master at knitting and crocheting in Reno County. She gave lessons to others from an early age. Kathy enjoyed entering her master pieces in the Kansas State Fair. She also enjoyed playing cards once a month for 42 years with her ladies. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.

Kathy is preceded by her parents and a sister, Verda Simon.

She is survived by her husband, Steven; her daughter, Tami; a sister, Carol (Martin) Pfister; and her three grandchildren, Dylan (Kimee), Dalton, and Danae.

Darrell Keith Ediger, 79, of Sterling, died March 28, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born October 23, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Henry and Minnie (Peters) Ediger.

Darrell graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He started working as a carpet apprentice for Wiley’s in 1961, then became a partner in Earl Smith &amp; Co., and then in 1993 started his own business, Ediger Enterprises.

Darrell was a master nationally certified flooring installer who took care of customers ranging from residential to commercial and even the U.S. government. He installed the flooring in Air Force One, the unique custom-made flooring in the Cosmosphere, the hand-sewn carpeting in the Fox Theater, and the flooring in the Crystal Ballroom at the Burt. Darrell also enjoyed teaching people about his craft and taught many others how to install flooring. He also enjoyed woodworking and tinkering on his farm near Sterling.

On October 23, 1978, Darrell married Nadine M. Fitzpatrick, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. She survives.

Also surviving are: his daughters, Terri Ediger (Steve), Jodi Danler (Mike), Leigh Chunn, Amy Sill (Mike); 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Cliff, Gale, and Wes Ediger; and many extended family members.

Darrell requested that his body be cremated and no services be held. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.

Melvin ‘Mel’ Eugene Gough, 95, passed away March 25, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born November 7, 1927, in Erie, KS, to Arthur Festus Gough and Opal Jane (Killian) Gough.

Mel served in the United States Air Force from December 1945 to December 1948.&nbsp; He was a lifelong truck driver.&nbsp; Mel drove for Eaton Metal Products, currently J&amp;J Drainage, and then retired from Dillon Stores Inc.&nbsp; He was a member of the Teamsters Union, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

On April 5, 1952, Mel married Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Faye Breidenstein, in Arlington, KS.&nbsp; They shared almost 71 years of marriage.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Geraldine Gough of Hutchinson, KS; sons, Rodney (Patty) Gough of Wichita, KS, and Randy Gough of Winfield, KS; grandchildren, Billy Douglas, Rachel (Loren) Keeton, Ashley Barton, and Corey Gough; eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Buford (Patsy) Gough of Cisco, TX, Neva (Dale) Martin of Ulysses, KS, and Gary (Linda) Gough of Abbyville, KS.

Mel was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; daughter, Rene Faye Short; and brothers, Harold Gough and Kenneth Gough.

Ida Juanita Pritchard, 89, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Hospice House, in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born July 12, 1933 in Turon, KS, the daughter of John and Ida Edda (Fry) Pennel.

Ida graduated from Buhler High School in 1951 and on September 18, 1953, she married Claudie C. Pritchard in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Ida enjoyed crocheting, painting with oil and water colors and drawing.&nbsp; She attended Elmdale Senior Center and Delos V. Smith Senior Center in Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Ida is survived by her husband, Claudie; six children, Claudie L. Pritchard, Karen (Valentino) Rodriguez, Leslie D. (Marcine) Pritchard, Charlie E. (Edie) Pritchard, Lola M. (Norman) Elliott and Wayne (Cris) Pritchard; a sister, Ramona Rescoe; 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra K. Pritchard; a son, Michael C. Pritchard; two brothers; and four sisters.

Angela F. Linton, 75, passed away on March 25, 2023 at Prairie Sunset Nursing Home, Pretty Prairie, KS.&nbsp; Angela was born, July 1, 1947, in St. John, KS, the daughter of James Howard Miller of Macksville and Helen (Bowker) Miller of St. John.&nbsp;

Angela was a loving daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Angela is survived by her daughter Darcy Basye, husband Aaron; grandchildren, Hunter Basye and wife Kylie, Trace Basye, and Bailey Basye; several great grandchildren; a sister; and many nephews.

Mary Lois Fletchall, 98, died peacefully March 27, 2023, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born May 2, 1924, in Jackson County, Kansas, to Arthur and Effie (Kroth) Venneberg.

Mary graduated from Havensville High School, Havensville, KS, and attended Strickler Business College in Topeka.&nbsp; She worked three years at Southwestern Bell Telephone, and after moving to Hutchinson, Mary taught at Hook Playschool for 13 years.&nbsp; She enjoyed quilting, winning many ribbons at the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp; Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, taught Sunday school, was a Stephen Minister, and helped make church banners.&nbsp; She was a devoted mother and grandmother and looked forward to phone calls and visits from her family.

On May 31, 1946, Mary married Glenn Lloyd Fletchall.&nbsp; They lived in Sabetha, Kansas for 10 years, before moving to Hutchinson in 1957.&nbsp; Glenn died June 19, 2005, after they shared 59 years of marriage.

Mary is survived by:&nbsp; daughter, Janie Peterson of Hutchinson; sons, Mark Fletchall (Lynné) of Wichita, Randy Fletchall (Vickie) of Scottsdale, AZ, Mike Fletchall (Brenda) of Roseville, MN, and Craig Fletchall (Patty) of Great Bend; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren;

Mary was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Tammy Michelle Williams, 40, of Sylvia, died March 22, 2023, at Hospice House. She was born July 17, 1982, in Lyons, to Joseph and Faye (Adams) Williams.

Tammy graduated from Cove High School in Arkansas. She was very social and loved to talk and laugh with friends and family. Tammy enjoyed watching TV, listening to music, and riding her bike. Her favorite past time was caring for her dolls. Tammy was a member of the church where she was baptized, Turon Community Church.

She is survived by: parents, Joseph and Faye Williams, Sylvia; sister, Tonya Smith (Chris), Viola; brother, Chad Williams, Sylvia; brother, Joey Williams, Hutchinson; sister, Joyce Belote, McPherson; her uncles; and many cousins.

Tammy was preceded in death by: her paternal and maternal grandparents; aunt, Marilyn Brown; and uncle, Alfred Reed.

Alice Marie (McAnulty) Johnson, 87, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Canton, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2023, with family by her side at McPherson Hospital.

Alice was born on April 21, 1935, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Marquis) McAnulty.&nbsp; After her junior year at McPherson High School, her dad moved the family to Newcastle, Wyoming, where Alice’s mother grew up.&nbsp; She graduated from Newcastle High School.&nbsp;

On October 9, 1953, Alice was united in marriage to William “Bill” L. Johnson at the Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children, Steven, Gary, and Janet.&nbsp; Bill preceded her in death on September 25, 2005.

She was a dedicated member at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, and sang in the church choir.&nbsp; She participated in the Messiah Oratorio in Lindsborg which included a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City.&nbsp; She also served on the board at Bethany Home.&nbsp;

Along with being a housewife, Alice worked at Alliance Life Insurance Company and retired from Sterling Drug where she was a line supervisor and group leader.&nbsp; She was a devoted mother and grandmother.&nbsp; She was a seamstress, often tailoring her own clothing and making shirts for her husband and boys and clothing for Janet. She always had a big vegetable garden and did lots of canning.&nbsp; She even made and canned her own mincemeat for pies.&nbsp; She also enjoyed working in her flower beds and going fishing. She refinished all of her antique furniture.&nbsp; In 1999, she and Bill built their dream&nbsp; home in the country on some property they purchased after retirement.&nbsp; After Bill’s passing, Alice remained in her country home for over 15 years and continued helping on the farm.

Survivors include: three children, Steve Johnson and wife, Pat, of McPherson, KS, Gary Johnson of McPherson, KS, and Janet Ortman and husband, Dale, of Moundridge, KS; five grandchildren, Shaun Ortman (Kaitlen), Sara Ortman Smoker (Jason), Parker Johnson (Andrea), Brennan Johnson, and Kolbie Johnson Jacoby (John); ten great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary McAnulty; husband, Bill Johnson; sister, Phyllis Russell; and brother-in-law, Charles Russell.

Alice Marie (McAnulty) Johnson |1935-2023|

Rosa Ellen Thomas, 83, of Wichita, died Saturday, March 25, 2023, at LakePoint El Dorado. Born on December 20, 1939, in Brimson, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harl Kenneth and Dorothy Mae (Little) Wiles.

On November 28, 1959, Rosa married Larry Leroy Thomas in New London, Iowa. They moved to Hutchinson in 1965, and lived there until moving to Wichita in 1988. They shared almost 56 years of marriage prior to his death on October 26, 2015.

After gettng married, Rosa taught Sunday School at the Church of Christ in Hutchinson, took care of her four children, and ran a day care from her home in Hutchinson. One of her favorite jobs after her children were all grown was working at K-Mart. Rosa loved helping people find what they were looking for at the store.&nbsp;

In addition, she enjoyed gardening, watching birds and squirrels in the backyard, going to church, and was an avid reader.&nbsp;Rosa was a member of East Point Church of Christ, Wichita.

Born on December 20, 1939, in Brimson, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harl Kenneth and Dorothy Mae (Little) Wiles.On November 28, 1959, Rosa married Larry Leroy Thomas in New London, Iowa. They moved to Hutchinson in 1965, and lived there until moving to Wichita in 1988. They shared almost 56 years of marriage prior to his death on October 26, 2015.After gettng married, Rosa taught Sunday School at the Church of Christ in Hutchinson, took care of her four children, and ran a day care from her home in Hutchinson. One of her favorite jobs after her children were all grown was working at K-Mart. James “Jim” Lewis Dunn was born in McPherson on Dec. 3, 1941, to Jasper and Linda (Ewy) Dunn. The family moved to a farm near Arlington. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, James and Kenneth. After his mother’s tragic death to cancer in 1946, Jasper married Hazel Edwards in 1948. They had three children together, Donald, Kathy, and Linda (who also died of cancer at age 8).

Throughout his adult life, Jim had two callings. He was both a pastor and a farmer. He graduated from Arlington (KS) High School in 1959. He attended Bethel College in North Newton for two years, studying Industrial Arts, and Bible and Religion. As Jim tells the story, one day the local African Methodist Episcopal Church called a student church leadership club. They said they wanted a preacher for that Sunday. The rest of the students begged off. When the church leader that morning introduced Jim, he said: “This is our new preacher.” Jim didn’t say no, so his single Sunday preaching gig became a two-year unintentional intercultural ministry internship. He had always loved farming and ranching, too, and thought that’s what he would do with his life, so he transferred to Kansas State University, intending to get an agriculture degree. After one year, he returned to Bethel and graduated in 1963.

While at Bethel College, he met a lovely young musician, Ann Suderman. He told her if they would marry, she’d be a farmer’s wife. But he also continued to love preaching and the church. He wondered if God was calling him to ministry, so he enrolled in Mennonite Biblical Seminary (today called Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary), Elkhart, Indiana. Whether he would be a farmer or a minister, they didn’t know, but they married on Aug. 4, 1964, after Ann graduated college. Their marriage was blessed with two beloved sons, the oldest, Michael James, biological and the youngest, Jeffrey Lewis, adopted.

For several years after he graduated from seminary, he focused on ministry. His first full-time pastorate was in Carlock, Illinois, from 1967 to 1970. The family moved to Champaign, Illinois, where he pastored First Mennonite Church on the campus of the University of Illinois 1970-1980. Michael noted, “He was always a farmer at heart, though. Our home in Champaign was a corner lot. He dug up all the grass and planted corn and other vegetables in the front and side yards.” In 1980, Jim and his family moved to Newton. He worked at the denominational office for six years, then became campus pastor at Bethel College for three years. Even as he loved the church, he never lost his love of farming.

In 1987, Jim and Ann bought a small farm on the outskirts of Hesston. On the small property he raised cattle, as well as wheat. His next ministry call was as lead pastor at First Mennonite Church, Newton 1989-92.

While there he increased his cattle herd. Ultimately, he ran cattle in four counties, all while pastoring a large congregation. When asked what he did for fun, he’d say, “Work the land. Raise cattle.”

Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel called him to be pastor from 1998-2004. Burrton Mennonite Church was his final call in 2004-2015. He retired from ministry when the congregation closed.

He continued farming and ranching until 2019 when Jim and Ann sold their beloved farm to move to Schowalter Villa.

Jim got a rare cancer diagnosis in late July 2022. The God who loved him called Jim to become part of the “great cloud of witnesses” on Feb. 13, 2023.

He is preceded in death by Jasper and Linda Dunn, sister Linda Dunn, Hazel Dunn, and son Jeff.

He is lovingly remembered by Ann, Michael and Kathy Neufeld Dunn. His siblings, Kenneth Dunn and family: Eva Gordon (Doug) — children Ben, Jade, Jeffrey; Elsbeth Noga (Tom) — children Christina and Stephen; Adam Dunn, Soren Dunn, and Clement Dunn. Dr. Donald Dunn (Janice) and family: David Dunn (Jen) and Ellie; Jared Dunn. Kathy Dunn and family: Michael Dunn (Patricia) — Kristen, Harley, Janelle; Daren Dunn; Calen Dunn (Jaysalyn) — children Vincent and Alaina. Grandchildren Jordan and Tanner Dunn, and great grandson Taybor, as well as many friends and colleagues.

James L. 'Jim' Dunn |1941-2023|

Gary “Kentruck” Kendrick graced the world with his spirit on May 13, 1953, the fourth son of Perry and Christine (Coleman) Kendrick. Big brothers, Perry Jr, Harold Dean and Eddie Ray and later “Sissy” Shelbia Diane completed the Kendrick family.

Dad grew up in Pikeville, Kentucky and around the age of ten, began shining shoes in the local parks, often times telling patrons that he was orphaned or adopted to get larger tips until word got back to his Mama and she publicly whipped him in the park. He was ornery, as anyone who knew him could attest, and his best friend Bony McCoy and him were constantly getting into skirmishes throughout the community.

Dad met our Mom, Debbie Sue, who precedes him in death, while working at Pikeville Hospital and courted her through a series of Car Wash dates, eventually asking for her hand in marriage. They moved back to Kansas to raise their family, a son, Joshua Douglas, and daughters Ashley Paige and Molly Rashel.

Dad intended to become a nurse, but always said his hillbilly got in the way of Medical Terminology so he settled into a job at Consolidated in Hutchinson, Kansas, where he built life-long friendships. He obtained his CDL in the mid-nineties, working locally until he bought his first truck, establishing Kendrick Trucking. For many years, he trekked cross-country, but family was always his highest priority and he rarely missed a sporting event or musical program. He was a huge supporter of his kids and was a vocal advocate for them. We were stronger with him in our corner.

Dad and Mom split up in 2005 and they went their separate ways, but Dad was always adamant that Mom was the love of his life, and he sat at her bedside throughout her illness, reminiscing about happier times. Dad was an avid traveler, globetrotting across many different countries, making friends everywhere he went. He was a genuine lover of people and appreciated the openness of other cultures and their verve for life. His final trip was to the Philippines in September of 2022.

Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in December of 2022. He spent his final months surrounded by his loved ones and doling out advice to his grandchildren. He passed on March 25, 2023, peacefully in his sleep. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Perry Jr and Eddie Ray. He is survived by his children, Joshua (Allie), Ashley, Molly (Tyler); a brother, Harold (Emmonetta) Kendrick; a sister, Shelbia Diane (Tim) Williamson, all of Dayton, Tennessee; ten grandchildren: Clayton, Colton, Kaleb, Harper, Hudson, Harlow, Halston, Perry, Sutton and Garrytt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary “Kentruck” Kendrick |1953-2023|

Danae Lanette Osborn, 41, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 23, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends at Pleasant View Home in Inman. She courageously and graciously fought cancer since 2015.

Danae was born July 17, 1981, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Loren and Cheryl (Suderman) Wiens. She grew up with one older brother, Brett Wiens, and one younger sister, Tara (Wiens) Oswald. Danae loved children which led to babysitting jobs. By second grade, without wavering, she decided to become an elementary teacher. Danae graduated from Buhler High School in 2000 and received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bethel College in Newton in 2004. Danae taught four years as a first-grade teacher at Hesston Elementary.

On June 17, 2006, Danae was united in marriage to Justin Osborn at Bethel Mennonite Church in Inman, KS, They met at a mutual friend’s wedding. They were married for 16 years. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Cade, Cole, Corynn, and Cambry. Danae enjoyed the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom. When their oldest reached school age, she continued her passion of teaching by homeschooling. She said, ‘I gave up a great job for the best job - a teacher AND a mom all in one.’ As the kids grew older, it was important to Danae that they learned not only academics but faith and character as well. She really enjoyed attending her kids’ activities. Even when her health was compromised, she was determined to attend every event even when it meant going in a wheelchair.

Danae’s faith and involvement in their church was important to her. She accepted Christ when she was six years old with Sarah Thiessen’s guidance at Wednesday night church. Danae, along with her husband Justin, served as youth sponsors for many years at Bethel Mennonite Church. They currently attend Journey Mennonite in South Hutchinson.

Danae will be remembered and cherished for so many wonderful attributes. Danae loved others well and put others’ needs before her own. She lived her life with so much gratitude. Her heart and home were always open to those around her, and she always looked for the best in others. Danae is known for her faithfulness, gentle spirit, genuine personality, compassionate heart, dependability, and perseverance.

Survivors include: her husband Justin; four children Cade, Cole, Corynn, and Cambry, of the home; mother, Cheryl Friesen, and spouse Raymond Friesen, Inman; brother, Brett (Jill) Wiens, McPherson; sister, Tara (Nate) Oswald, Buhler; mother and father-in-law, Pam and Steve Osborn, Harrisonville, MO; brother-in-law, Joel Osborn, Lee’s Summit, MO; grandmother, Mildred Leeper, Buhler; nephews Josiah Osborn, Levi Osborn; nieces McKenzie Osborn, Presley Osborn, Tryn Oswald, Bree Oswald; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Danae is known for her faithfulness, gentle spirit, genuine personality, compassionate heart, dependability, and perseverance.Survivors include: her husband Justin; four children Cade, Cole, Corynn, and Cambry, of the home; mother, Cheryl Friesen, and spouse Raymond Friesen, Inman; brother, Brett (Jill) Wiens, McPherson; sister, Tara (Nate) Oswald, Buhler; mother and father-in-law, Pam and Steve Osborn, Harrisonville, MO; brother-in-law, Joel Osborn, Lee’s Summit, MO; grandmother, Mildred Leeper, Buhler; nephews Josiah Osborn, Levi Osborn; nieces McKenzie Osborn, Presley Osborn, Tryn Oswald, Bree Oswald; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her father, Loren Wiens; grandparents Milton and Erma Jane (Regehr) Wiens, and Richard Suderman.The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Inman Funeral Home, 312 E Center St, Inman. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson.
