
Velma May Harts, 91, died September 4, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson, KS. She was born April 3, 1932, on the family farm in Marquette, to George and Georgia (Hoffman) Campbell.
On July 30, 1949, Velma married Richard Harts in Ellsworth county. Together they managed several gas stations in McPherson before moving to Hutchinson in 1962 and continued managing gas stations. After Richard’s passing in 1979, Velma worked as a nurse’s aide at local nursing homes. She was a hard worker and helped manage the 4th & Whiteside Laundry with her daughter, retiring at age 85 when the laundromat was sold. She loved her grandchildren and her dog Boo.
Velma is survived by: daughters, Patty (Rick) Harts-Dunsworth and Ellen Lane, both of Hutchinson; son, Gary Harts of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Brian Dunsworth, Ryan Dunsworth, and Sara Bass Hutchinson and Chris Harts of Kansas City, MO; and sister, Margaret Morgart.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, Lanny Harts; and siblings, Phyllis, Betty, George, Jack, Charles, Kenneth, Wayne, Joyce, and Marvin.
Cremation has taken place. No service will be held at this time.
