
Linda L. (Niedens) Banz, 78, died September 9, 2023, at Legend of Hutchinson. She was born August 8, 1945, in Dodge City, to Leo Alexander and Elsie Louise (Maier) Niedens.
Linda grew up on a farm between Dodge City and Jetmore. After graduating Dodge City High School in 1963, she attended Adela Hale School of Business in Hutchinson. Upon graduation from business college, Linda worked as a secretary at Far-Mar-Co, then located in the downtown Hutchinson Wiley building. She was a lightning-fast typist with mad shorthand skills. Far-Mar-Co merged with Farmland and Linda was promoted to various accounting positions. She retired from Doskocil/Tyson, where she managed accounts payable.
Linda enjoyed following many sports, including car racing, football, basketball, and her number one team, the Kansas State Wildcats. Art fairs, shopping, traveling, and maintaining a meticulous home were also some of her other enjoyments. Linda was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson.
On February 4, 1973, Linda married Gary Joseph Banz, in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage before he died March 11, 2023.
Linda is survived by: stepson, Brad Banz (Angie); siblings, Lonnie Niedens (Kathy) and Loetta Walker (Sonny); step grandchildren, Kyle Banz (Savanna) and Melissa Myer (Vernon); five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; nephew, Darin Walker, and niece, Christina Walker.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, in the little Chapel. (Parking for the little Chapel is on the east side of the church). Inurnment will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross, First Presbyterian Church, or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
