
Phyllis Elizabeth Webber, 101, of Kingman, died September 13, 2023, at Kingman Healthcare Center. Born Phyllis Elizabeth Bourbina on February 28, 1922, in Abilene, she was the 4th child born to George Earl and Mary Irene (Weir) Bourbina. Along with her brother, Earl Edwin Bourbina, Phyllis was adopted by James A. and Catherine M. Hollister on October 28, 1924, in Dickinson County. She became known as Phylis Elizabeth Hollister. The children were physically abused and were returned to the Child Rescue and Orphan Society of the Church of the Brethren in Darlow. Phylis and Earl were adopted from the orphanage on May 6, 1925, by Earl and Bobbie Anna (Starks) Ewing, and she became Phyllis Elizabeth Ewing and her brother became Earl Albert Ewing.
Phyllis was raised in Arlington, where she attended grade school and high school. After graduating from high school, Phyllis married Roy E. Webber on June 2, 1940, and they lived on a farm south of Arlington and eventually moved to Arlington. He died March 3, 2017.
Phyllis was a homemaker and a great cook who kept a clean and organized home – no clutter there! Wherever Phyllis lived was very neat and tidy. Throughout her life, Phyllis belonged to various clubs and organizations. She kept the books for Roy’s construction business. Phyllis was an avid reader and watched current news and weather reports. She loved to study the scriptures and Biblical prophecy.
Phyllis is survived by: her two daughters, Kay Fountain (Jack) of Arlington and Jean Richert (Willi) of Valley Center; grandchildren, Jeff Fountain (Debbie) of Arlington, Angela Androes (Nelson) of Durham, NC, Tiffani Sorrells (James MacKay) of Wichita, Kristofer Richert of Park City; great-grandchildren, Michelle Stewart (Trevor), Sean Stejskal, Tyler Stejskal (Krista), Brennan O'Callaghan, and Ariana Sorrells.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it below will be active at 9:45 a.m. the day of the service
