NelLouise “Nel” Smith 79, entered the presence of the Lord on September 6, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born December 28, 1943, in Kansas City, MO, to Harold K. and Aldene (Wall) Voth, DDS.
Nel graduated from Haven High School in 1961, and received her nursing degree in 1980 from the Hutchinson Hospital School of Nursing. She worked over 30 years as a registered nurse at area hospitals and nursing homes. Nel enjoyed gardening, cooking, and making crafts. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On February 16, 1991, she married Floyd Michael Smith, in Hutchinson. He died November 23, 2014.
Nel is survived by: sons, Danny Hager and Chuck Hager; stepsons, Jake Smith (Joy) and Jeremy Smith (Nicci); brothers, Robert Voth, Paul Voth, and Charles Voth (Carey); grandchildren, Tyler Smith and Anni Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; Danny and Chuck’s father, Roger Hager; husband, Floyd Smith; and grandson, Asher Smith.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Graveside service will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Avenue, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends at the church following her funeral service on Friday.
