CANYON, Texas — No. 1 Hutchinson (11-1) jumped out to a 10-0 lead before No. 2 Iowa Western (12-1) scored the final 28 points in Wednesday night's championship rematch.

Christian Johnson hit Derrick Salley Jr. on a 15-yard touchdown pass to score the game's first points on Hutchinson's first drive.

The Dragons held the Reivers to back-to-back three-and-outs to open the contest.

On Hutchinson's second possession, kicker Alejandro de la Poza hit a school-record 52-yard field goal. His 15th connection of the year also set a school record for made field goals in a season.

The Dragons outgained the Reivers 108-40 in the first frame and took the double-digit lead.

Iowa Western then scored the final 28 points of the game unanswered.

Quarterback Malachi Marshall started the game 1-for-7, but threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter.

Marshall finished 18-of-35 with three touchdowns and one interception for 212 yards.

Daniel Swinney became just the second running back to gash the Dragon defense for more than 100 yards this season.

Swinney's best day on the ground against the Dragons in his previous three matchups only went for 43 yards.

In the title game, Swinney racked up 153 yards. His six-yard touchdown with 3:30 to play sealed the Reiver victory.

Council scored a career-high 36 points while making nine 3-pointers, the most for a Big 12 player in a single-game since the 2022-23 season. The senior transfer from St. Bonaventure scored the Jayhawks’ final 13 points in regulation, and 18 of the team’s final 25 points, in the 77-76 overtime win at North Carolina State. 

The guard from Rochester, New Jersey added seven rebounds, four assists and a steal in the game, while not committing a turnover in the contest. These are his first career Big 12 weekly awards and the first time this season for a Jayhawk to be named Big 12 Player or Newcomer of the Week.

Burries maintained Arizona’s No. 1 national ranking with 28 points and seven rebounds in the 96-75 rout of No. 12 Alabama in Birmingham. Dybantsa’s week was highlighted by a 28-point showing at Madison Square Garden in a thrilling 67-64 win over Clemson. Toppin had 30 points and 11 rebounds against No. 17 Arkansas in the American Airlines Center, while Huff scored 24 points in each of the Mountaineers’ games this week.

EL DORADO, Kan. – Butler Community College athletic director Mike Helmer announced the hiring of Kyle Woodall as the next Grizzly head football coach on Tuesday afternoon.&nbsp;

Woodall just completed his 11th&nbsp;season on the Grizzly coaching staff, and in March of 2025, Woodall was announced as the interim head coach. Now, Woodall is officially the next head man for the Butler Grizzlies, the 25th&nbsp;in program history.&nbsp;

&nbsp;The 2025 football season for the Butler Grizzlies was a successful one. The Grizzlies finished the year 7-3 overall, 4-2 in conference play, with all three losses coming to ranked opponents. The Grizzlies saw 22 student-athletes earn All-Conference honors, headlined by Butler running back&nbsp;<a href="https://www.butlergrizzlies.com/sports/fball/2025-26/bios/bass_markellus_7sts">Markellus Bass</a>&nbsp;finishing the season as the nation's leading rusher with 1,237 yards on the ground, 123.7 yards per game. Bass rushed for at least 100 yards in eight of the ten games this season. Bass now ranks 11th&nbsp;all-time in career rushing yards in program history. Linebacker&nbsp;<a href="https://www.butlergrizzlies.com/sports/fball/2025-26/bios/betts_justyce_rpcy">Justyce Betts</a>&nbsp;finished as the Jayhawk Conference leader in total tackles with 96. That number also ranked him third in the country. The Grizzlies finished the season as the number nine ranked team in the final NJCAA poll.&nbsp;

Woodall's defense in 2024 allowed just 14.7 points per game in conference play, second best in the league while the 16.9 points per game allowed in all games ranked seventh best across all of NJCAA Division 1. The Grizzly defense led the league in conference play with nine interceptions while racking up a conference-high 20 sacks. Butler held six opponents under 20 points and three under 10 points. He mentored two defensive All-Americans in linebacker Landon Boss and defensive tackle&nbsp;<a href="https://www.butlergrizzlies.com/sports/fball/2025-26/bios/cloud_seven_imjc">Seven Cloud</a>&nbsp;in 2024.

The 2023 Grizzly defense held six opponents to 20 or fewer points under Woodall's watch. The Grizzlies recovered 12 fumbles, the most in the conference. The Butler defense shined in a 45-10 win on the road at No. 3 ranked Iowa Central, shutting the Tritons out in the second half and tallying six sacks in the game. Butler shut out eventual NJCAA national champion Iowa Western in the second half of a 28-21 loss. Six of the seven Reiver second half drives ended in punts. Woodall had seven All-KJCCC selections on his defense including an NJCAA All-American in Marlin Dean. Of Woodall's linebacker core, three signed with NCAA Division 1 teams with Udoka Ezeani (Boise State), Eunique Valentine (Missouri State) and Demarcious Robinson (Georgia Southern) all moving on to the next level.

Butler had a strong defensive unit in Woodall's first season as defensive coordinator in 2022. The Grizzlies finished with a conference leading 20 interceptions and held six opponents under 20 points and three to under 10 as they finished 8-4 and claimed the program's 17th all-time bowl victory in a 28-24 win over Kilgore in the Heart of Texas Bowl.

Prior to being named defensive coordinator, Woodall served in various roles within the program since 2015 such as linebackers coach and running backs coach.

Woodall played at Butler from 2006-2007 as a linebacker/defensive back. He helped the Grizzlies to a 23-1 overall record as well as winning the Region 6 and Jayhawk Conference championships both seasons.

In 2007, Woodall was a team captain on Butler's NJCAA National Championship squad that finished with a perfect 12-0 record. During that season, Woodall earned honorable mention All-Jayhawk Conference honors at safety.

Following Butler, Woodall continued his playing career at Sam Houston State University and later Washburn University.

A Salina, Kan., native, Woodall played at Salina Central High School, where he was a two-time All-State safety and was a team captain on the Mustangs' 2005 Class 5A undefeated state championship team.

🏈 Grizzlies remove interim tag, officially name Kyle Woodall as head football coach

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes underwent surgery in Dallas on Monday night to repair the ACL he tore in his left knee in a loss to the Chargers, and the team said in statement that he would begin the long rehabilitation process immediately.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Dan Cooper, a highly regarded orthopedist and the team physician of the Dallas Cowboys.

Mahomes tore the ligament when he was spun to the ground while trying to keep Kansas City’s postseason hopes alive late in the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/los-angeles-chargers-kansas-city-chiefs-score-9a72cf0a6cfc548809fb72d678af054c">16-13 loss</a>&nbsp;on Sunday. The team announced the severity of the injury in a statement later that night.

“I’ve had a good visit with him, a couple of different times. He’s in a good place,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said earlier Monday. “You know, he always feels like he let people down, but he comes back and he’s ready for the challenge ahead.”

There are a number of factors that go into how long the recovery time will be, including the severity of the tear. Most players are able to return to the field in six to 12 months, which means Mahomes should be back at some point next season.

Gardner Minshew will quarterback the Chiefs through the final three games of this season.

The Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention for the first time in a decade Sunday with the loss to the Chargers, coupled with three other results that didn’t go their way. They had reached the past seven AFC championship games with Mahomes as the starter, winning three Super Bowls and losing two others along the way, including one to Philadelphia this past February.

“He'll attack it, just like he does everything else,” Reid said of the rehab. “There have been some pretty good quarterbacks that have had the same injury and done pretty well after they came back. He'll get after it, and he's got good people here to rehab him.”

That includes two of his current AFC rivals.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow tore both the ACL and MCL in his left knee in November 2020, and he recovered in time to play the next season, when he was voted the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year. Colts quarterback Daniel Jones tore his right ACL in November 2023 when he was with the Giants, and he came back to start Week 1 the following season.

Tom Brady tore his ACL and MCL in the Patriots' 2008 opener. He started all 16 games the next year and was voted NFL MVP.

The 30-year-old Mahomes has dodged such severe injuries for most of his career.

The worst may have come in 2019, when Mahomes dislocated his kneecap on a sneak against the Broncos. His most famous may have occurred during the 2022 playoffs, when he sustained a severe high ankle sprain; questions swirled around whether Mahomes would even be able to play the next week, and he not only did but eventually led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl title.

The Chiefs do not have another quarterback besides Mahomes signed for next season, so the last three weeks of this season could be an audition for Minshew, the veteran backup who finished out the loss to the Chargers on Sunday.

He completed three straight passes before an interception on a throw intended for Travis Kelce effectively ended the game.

“I've got a ton of confidence in Gardner,” Reid said. “I've watched him play with these other teams. He's started in the league. Our guys have confidence in him, and Chris Oladokun behind him will work, and he's been with us a while. Those are two guys we trust.”

(AP) — Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes underwent surgery in Dallas on Monday night to repair the ACL he tore in his left knee in a loss to the Chargers, and the team said in statement that he would begin the long rehabilitation process immediately.The procedure was performed by Dr. Dan Cooper, a highly regarded orthopedist and the team physician of the Dallas Cowboys.Mahomes tore the ligament when he was spun to the ground while trying to keep Kansas City’s postseason hopes alive late in the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/los-angeles-chargers-kansas-city-chiefs-score-9a72cf0a6cfc548809fb72d678af054c">16-13 loss</a>&nbsp;on Sunday. The team announced the severity of the injury in a statement later that night.“I’ve had a good visit with him, a couple of different times. He’s in a good place,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said earlier Monday. “You know, he always feels like he let people down, but he comes back and he’s ready for the challenge ahead.”There are a number of factors that go into how long the recovery time will be, including the severity of the tear. Most players are able to return to the field in six to 12 months, which means Mahomes should be back at some point next season.Gardner Minshew will quarterback the Chiefs through the final three games of this season.The Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention for the first time in a decade Sunday with the loss to the Chargers, coupled with three other results that didn’t go their way. Tre White had 16 points and a career-high six assists for the Jayhawks (9-3). Melvin Council, coming off&nbsp;a career-best 36-point performance&nbsp;in Saturday's&nbsp;overtime win&nbsp;over N.C. State, added 15 points.

Kansas improved to 273-9 at home against unranked opponents under coach Bill Self.

Sophomore guard Jamari McDowell started for preseason All-American Darryn Peterson, who missed an eighth game due to injury. Self said Peterson had quadriceps cramps.

Bidunga, who entered the night as the Big 12’s leading shot blocker, had two blocks in the first seven minutes and finished with three. He also scored KU’s first six points en route to his seventh career double-double.

A 6-foot-10 sophomore forward from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Bidunga was 7 of 8 from the field and 4 of 7 from the line.

Dylan Williamson scored 19 points for Towson (6-5), which never led. The Tigers drew within nine early in the second half before KU went on a 10-2 run. Kansas led by 25 in the second half and held an opponent below 50 points for the second time this year.

Bryson Tiller added 11 points for the Jayhawks.

The Tigers managed just four assists, although they did finish with a 22-12 advantage in offensive rebounds.

Still, Towson shot only 27.5% from the field and finished 3 of 12 from 3-point range against the stingy Jayhawks.

KU didn’t commit a foul until 9:11 remained in the first half. The Jayhawks hit 10 of their first 13 field-goal attempts.

The Lady Salthawks jumped out to an 18-3 lead in the opening quarter and broke the game open with a 22-point second period to take firm control by halftime.

Tenley Keaton provided a spark off the bench, knocking down five 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 17 points. Lynnea Alvarez followed with 14 points, including three shots from beyond the arc, as Hutchinson spread the scoring and overwhelmed Campus at both ends of the floor.

The 60-point outburst marked Hutchinson’s most productive offensive night of the season. The Lady Salthawks have now won three straight games and will close out the 2025 portion of their schedule on the road Friday night at Arkansas City.

The nightcap had a much different feel, but the result still favored the Salthawks.

What briefly felt like another missed opportunity turned into a late rally as Hutchinson pulled away in the final minutes for a 45-41 win over Campus.

Draydon Hippen scored six of his eight&nbsp; points in the fourth quarter to help fuel the comeback, while Lamar Govain led all players with 22 points as the Salthawks closed strong down the stretch.

Campus was kept within striking distance by Jalen Clark, who poured in 19 points, including four 3-pointers, to keep the Colts close throughout the contest.

The victory marked the Salthawks’ first win of the season. Hutchinson improved to 1-4 and will travel to Arkansas City on Friday night to wrap up the 2025 portion of the schedule before the Christmas break.

CANYON, Texas — Derrick Salley Jr. still remembers the nerves.

Last year’s national championship game brought excitement, pressure and the unknown stepping onto college football’s biggest junior college stage.

 One year later, the Hutchinson Community College sophomore returns older, calmer and far more confident as he prepares to play his final game in a Blue Dragon uniform Wednesday night against Iowa Western in the national championship game.

“This year is different,” Salley said. “Last year was more nerve wracking. This year everybody is just ready. We’re ready for the challenge and ready to execute.”

Salley, a 6-foot-4, 216-pound wide receiver from Green Pond, South Carolina, has emerged as one of the nation’s most dangerous big-play threats. He enters the NJCAA national championship game with 49 receptions for 809 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Over two years at Hutchinson, Salley has totaled 68 catches for 1,126 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Hutchinson is chasing a second straight national championship and a fourth straight win over Iowa Western, including two victories in the postseason.

“It means a lot,” Salley said. “Since I’ve been here, we’ve played them three times. This will be the fourth. To beat them four times in a row, twice in the regular season and twice in the playoffs, just shows we’re really the best team in the nation.”

Salley’s memories of last year’s championship run still stand out, especially the momentum-shifting plays that sealed the come-from-behind win for the title.

“Kordell (Gouldsby) sealed it for us,” Salley said, referencing Gouldsby’s punt return in the title game. “After that, the momentum was high and we just kept executing.”

Salley’s growth from freshman to sophomore has been evident not just statistically, but mentally.

“I’ve grown a lot,” he said. “The biggest thing for me was mental growth. Learning how to handle adversity. Not getting too high, not getting too low.”

At 6-foot-4, Salley’s size and catch radius have made him a matchup problem. He thrives in contested situations and high-point throws.

“Winning my 50-50 balls,” Salley said. “High-pointing catches. Just letting the quarterback throw it up.”

That ability was on display from the very beginning. In his first collegiate game against New Mexico Military Institute, Salley hauled in a one-handed touchdown grab.

“I remember that one,” he said with a smile. “First touchdown, first college game. That was pretty great.”

Salley credits the wide receiver room for pushing him to another level. Hutchinson’s group features depth, competition and chemistry built long before the season began.

“I feel like we have the best receiver room in the country,” Salley said. “It’s because of the bond we have on and off the field. In the offseason, we were always getting extra work. Extra catches, extra lifts. What you’re seeing now is what we earned.”

That offseason work extended to building chemistry with quarterback Christian Johnson.

“At first last year, we didn’t have a ton of chemistry,” Salley said. “But we put the work in during the offseason. Now our bond is the best it’s ever been, and that’s scary going into the national championship.”

Salley’s path to Hutchinson began far from Kansas, in Green Pond, population 2,000, a small rural town in South Carolina with one gas station and a tight-knit community.

“It’s real small and country,” Salley said. “Not many people make it out of where I’m from. Being able to do this shows the kids back home that it’s really possible.”

Football became part of Salley’s life early, playing in open fields with family members before being signed up at age six. His support system has remained central throughout his journey.

“My parents, my grandmother, my aunties and my cousins,” Salley said. “They made sacrifices for me. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I’m at.”

After starring at Ashley Ridge High School, Salley made the leap to junior college football, leaving home for Hutchinson as an 18-year-old. The transition was challenging, but transformative.

“At first it was rough,” he said. “I missed my family. But I knew once I finished here, I could give them the life I always wanted to give them.”

Salley says Hutchinson saved his football career.

“Without Hutch, I wouldn’t be going to Kansas State right now,” he said. “This place helped me through a rough patch in my life. I built permanent friendships here. This is a place I’ll never forget.”

Earlier this month, Salley signed with Kansas State, fulfilling a longtime dream of playing in the Big 12. He credits Hutchinson’s structure and preparation for making the jump to the Power Four level possible.

“Our program is run like a Power Four program,” Salley said. “The offense, the structure, everything. It gives us a jump start so we’re not behind when we get there.”

As he prepares to close his Hutchinson career on the national stage, Salley hopes his legacy is defined by more than numbers.

“I want people to remember my hard work and how good of a teammate I am,” he said. “No matter what’s going on, you’re going to get my best.”

One more game remains. One more opportunity to finish what he started.

“This is my last ride with my boys,” Salley said. “I’ve got to go out with a bang.”

According to the personnel report approved during Monday night’s Hutchinson USD 308 Board of Education meeting, head football coach Mike Vernon was terminated effective December 11.

Hutchinson High School Activity Director Steve Kappenman, in a statement, tells Hutch Post, "We are taking Salthawk football in a new direction. We have posted the position and will open it up to potential candidates."

Vernon was 46-33 in eight seasons as the Salthawk's head coach including a 7-3 campaign in 2025.&nbsp;

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs know they will be playing out the final three games of the season without Patrick Mahomes, who had surgery Monday night to repair the torn left ACL that he sustained in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that eliminated them from playoff contention.

The rest of the future is far more hazy for an organization that for the past decade has been playing well into January, and often into February, and then spent the offseason simply reinforcing a brilliant but suddenly aging core of star players.

Will Mahomes sufficiently recover by the start of next season? Will tight end Travis Kelce retire? And coach Andy Reid, for that matter? Will general manager Brett Veach finally hit on some skill position talent, especially in the early rounds of the draft? And can the Chiefs find someone — anyone — who is capable of pressuring the quarterback on an every-down basis?

“You know, I'm always optimistic about going forward,” Reid said Monday. “Brett Veach does a heck of a job with bringing in players. You can see now with the guys playing. And then it's our responsibility on the coaching side of it, and the players taking responsibility on their end, and playing these three games, and whoever is here after to retool it.”

The finishing kick begins with a trip to lowly Tennessee on Sunday.

Kelce recently said he would inform the Chiefs on whether he plans to retire by early March, before the start of free agency, so they have a chance to plan accordingly. Role players such as wide receiver Marquise Brown, running back Isiah Pacheco, cornerback Jaylen Watson and safety Bryan Cook are pending free agents, and there are holes throughout the roster.

The most pressing needs are at wide receiver, where Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy have failed to take the next step into becoming a No. 1 target; running back, where Pacheco and Kareem Hunt have failed to provide any pop; and defensive end, where the Chiefs have struggled to generate a pass rush throughout the season.

Oh, and quarterback. They have nobody under contract for next season besides Mahomes. The two-time MVP's surgery was performed in Dallas by Dr. Dan Cooper, the Chiefs announced, adding that Mahomes would start rehabbing right away.

“When you lose close games, you search for things,” Reid said, “because you want to fix it. And sometimes it's a penalty here, it's a turnover here. You get a variety of things. It's always one little thing that determines close games, normally. And we've had our share of those, and you can't have those. It could be the wrong play — calling the wrong play at the wrong time. We've all got a piece in this thing, and you've got to keep striving to fix it, and do what you have to do in the offseason.”

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College entered the 2025 football season with the confidence of a defending national champion and the weight of a preseason No. 1 ranking. Twelve games later, the Blue Dragons have met every challenge, earning a return trip to Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium for Wednesday’s NJCAA Division I Football Championship game against a familiar opponent in Iowa Western.

For head coach Drew Dallas, who is leading the program into its fourth title-game appearance in six seasons, the moment still carries the same electricity as his first.

“It’s always an exciting day, and just the opportunity to come out and compete for our ultimate goal that we set out to do at the beginning of the year is really fun,” Dallas said.

Hutchinson began the year with a symbolic detour, stopping in Canyon during a Week 1 trip to New Mexico for a brief practice inside the venue that would ultimately determine its fate.

“It was a pretty cool deal to start the season off where you want to end the season,” Dallas said. “The timing of that trip was perfect to set the tone for what we wanted to accomplish. Being back here is special, but we know that is not the ultimate goal. We want to take care of business and win it.”

The Blue Dragons arrive with momentum after a 27-0 semifinal victory over Northwest Mississippi, their third shutout of the season. The defense allowed few explosive plays, dominated third down, and controlled field position, which Dallas described as the natural result of consistent execution.

“When you are good at extending drives, getting off the field on third down and playing great special teams, time of possession comes naturally,” Dallas said. “It is a great stat to look back on and say we are doing a lot of things really well.”

Offensive coordinator Tony Koehling has witnessed every layer of the Hutchinson-Iowa Western rivalry, having coached for both programs before joining the Blue Dragons in 2023. He said the continued success of each school stems from stability and culture.

“Both programs are run at an elite level,” Koehling said. “They recruit some of the best players in the country because of the continued success. I think it is a testament to the coaching staffs and how both places are able to rebuild and recreate the culture every year.”

The centerpiece of Hutchinson’s offense is sophomore quarterback Christian Johnson, who returned after taking snaps in last year’s national championship. Koehling called Johnson one of the best competitors to come through the program.

“Christian is an elite player,” Koehling said. “He learns from mistakes and just continues to get better week in and week out. One of his best games was this past week, and I think he has really done a good job understanding when to lean on Derrick Salley Jr. and when to spread the ball to guys like LT Robinson Jr., Bobby Shaw III and Eddie McLaughlin.”

Hutchinson’s rushing attack has evolved through a committee system that features different skill sets at running back. Koehling said the group has made steady progress despite the challenge of replacing last year’s All-American Waymond Jordan Jr.

“The rushing attack has done what we needed it to do,” Koehling said. “Iowa Western is always so good against the run, and last year they made some adjustments that affected us. It will be interesting to see how we attack them Wednesday because controlling the game on the ground also helps our defense.”

Koehling said Hutchinson’s offensive line, a unit he personally coaches, has improved significantly since the teams met in Week 2.

“I think our group is a lot better now,” he said. “We have a deep group with guys like Dylan Nolan-Cook, Rashad Smith and Mason Thrush. They just need to play really hard. Iowa Western has one of the top defensive lines in the country, and they always make it tough.”

Defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt is back in the title game for the second consecutive year and said the character of this roster has driven the unit’s performance from spring ball through December.

“We have really good players, a great staff and a strong culture,” Wallerstedt said. “This group is full of football guys with no issues off the field. They hold each other accountable and love playing together.”

That cohesion showed in the semifinal shutout, when Hutchinson’s speed overwhelmed Northwest Mississippi.

“We are playing so fast that if we make mistakes, we overlap them,” Wallerstedt said. “We are not getting caught in those mistakes because guys are playing with effort and overlapping mistakes.”

The Blue Dragons’ defensive depth has been a defining factor. The line rotates freely, linebackers stay fresh, and the secondary rarely breaks down.

“When you have depth, especially on the defensive line, you can keep guys fresh,” Wallerstedt said. “We have been nicked up, but we have not lost many key guys, which has been crucial.”

Wallerstedt highlighted the emergence of linebacker Teegan Haynes, whom he calls “T-Blade,” along with Jack Sells and a fully healthy Chris Robinson. All three have helped maintain a fast, physical identity at the second level.

Iowa Western’s offense presents one of Hutchinson’s steepest tests. Quarterback Malachi Marshall’s dual-threat ability, combined with a wide range of formations and pre-snap motion, forces defenders to play disciplined, detailed football.

“They are always a lot of smoke and mirrors,” Wallerstedt said. “They challenge your rules and force you to keep your eyes where they are supposed to be. We are going to have to run to the football, get 11 hats in the frame and tackle whoever has the ball.”

To win, Wallerstedt said Hutchinson must eliminate explosive plays and maintain composure.

“We have to play assignment sound, limit explosive plays, be good in the red zone and win the turnover battle,” he said. “Just play through adversity, keep talking, keep listening and play electric and together.”

Wednesday’s matchup marks the fourth time in 15 months that Hutchinson and Iowa Western have met, and Koehling said the familiarity creates a chess match that continues from year to year.

“When you know each other so well, you have to make adjustments and show things they have not seen,” Koehling said. “But the biggest thing is getting our best players the ball and sticking to our identity.”

Dallas echoed that theme, saying both coaching staffs excel in preparation and in-game adjustments.

“These games are always evenly matched and usually come down to a few plays,” Dallas said. “We want to prepare our guys for a four-quarter battle and be ready to adjust to whatever they show.”

For the Blue Dragons, the roadmap is clear. Play their brand of football. Stay steady. Execute. And finish.

“At the end of the day, if you cannot get up to compete for a national championship, you probably should not be on the field,” Dallas said.
