LITTLE RIVER, Kan. — Little River High School has named longtime educator and athletic administrator Trevor Rolfs as its new boys basketball coach.
Rolfs brings decades of coaching and administrative experience to the program, including seven seasons as the men’s basketball coach at Pratt Community College and the past 16 years as athletic director at Barton Community College.
At Pratt, Rolfs guided the Beavers to the 2005 NJCAA National Tournament and was named the NJCAA Region VI Coach of the Year.
His coaching career began in 1996 at his alma mater, Quivira Heights High School. After eight seasons at Pratt, Rolfs moved into full-time athletic administration at Barton, where he has overseen 23 collegiate athletic programs.
Rolfs also founded the Kansas Kings AAU basketball program and served as its head coach for nine years. The program included several central Kansas players, including Little River’s Jayden Garrison, Trey Rolfs and Graham Stephens.
As a player, Rolfs competed at Barton Community College before continuing his career at Bethany College, where he played basketball and football. He earned KCAC All-Conference honors in both sports and was inducted into the Bethany College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
Rolfs already has ties to USD 444. His wife, Kim, teaches physical education and culinary arts at Little River and is the school’s volleyball coach. Their son, Trey, graduated from Little River in 2021.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of the Redskin Nation and work with these young men continuing the tradition of excellence here at Little River,” Rolfs said. “I am obviously very familiar with the immense amount of community support within USD 444 and the outstanding culture surrounding all athletic programs here.”
Rolfs said he has also supported Little River programs while serving on the district’s Board of Education during the past year.
“Excited to get to work guiding the boys basketball program,” Rolfs said.
