WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State Athletics has announced additional details for its annual Shocker Madness event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, at Charles Koch Arena.
The free event begins at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. No tickets are required and parking will be available free on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year’s Shocker Madness will feature introductions of the Wichita State men’s and women’s basketball teams, team scrimmages, a three-point contest and a new knockout competition.
Fans will also have opportunities to take part in several on-court activities. Randomly selected attendees will be able to compete in the three-point and knockout contests, participate in the Dynamo Capital “Show Me the Money Shootout” or serve as honorary coaches during the scrimmages.
Fans interested in participating can scan QR codes located throughout the arena and complete an online signup form.
The Wichita State men’s and women’s basketball teams will hold an autograph session from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on the concourse outside Section 125 near the Champions Club.
The event will also include performances by the Shocker Sound Machine and Wichita State Spirit Squads, recognition of the Wichita State cheer team’s national championship and the announcement of Shocktoberfest spirit awards and Shocker Royalty winners.
Shocktoberfest awards and royalty winners are scheduled to be announced at 6:20 p.m., with Shocker Madness beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is expected to conclude around 8 p.m.
All fans must enter through the main entrance on the southwest side of Charles Koch Arena. General admission seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis as capacity allows.
Sections 117 and 118 will be reserved for Wichita State students, while additional seating will be reserved for Shocker student-athletes and university personnel.
The arena’s clear-bag policy and other standard venue policies will be in effect, and walk-through metal detectors will be used at the entrance.
