COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – The No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team completed a record-setting performance to open the 2026-27 season on Tuesday.
One individual and one team record were broken and another team record was tied as the Blue Dragons won the Bent Tree Intercollegiate for the second time in three seasons at the Bent Tree Golf Club.
The Blue Dragons shot a 54-hole total of 36-under par 828 to win the tournament. That mark ties the Blue Dragon team scoring record for a 54-hole tournament on a Par-72 course, matching the mark which was scored at the 2020 NJCAA National Preview on The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.

The Blue Dragons won the Bent Tree Intercollegiate by a staggering 40 strokes over Park University, which shattered the largest winning margin by a Hutchinson golf team in program history. The old record was a 20-stroke win at the 2022 NJCAA National Championship at the Odessa Country Club in Odessa, Texas.
Freshman Charlie Rusbridge completed a wire-to-wire run to the Bent Tree individual title. Rusbridge won his first collegiate tournament with a Blue Dragon 54-hole record on a par-72 course of 16-under 200. That broke the old record of Ben Partridge of 13-under 203 set at the 2020 NJCAA National Preview in Lubbock.
The Blue Dragons closed out the tournament with a 9-under 279 on Tuesday. The Dragons posted the second- and fourth-lowest team records in program history on Monday of 276 and 273.
The Dragons counted scores on Tuesday from Hugo Duquaine (68), Rusbridge (69), Harry Richmond (71) and Matt Vearncombe (71).
Hutchinson had four golfers place in the Top 5 of the individual standings.
Richmond placed second with a 6-under 208.
Duquaine jumped up five spots to placed third at 3-under 211.
Grant Hatzenbuehler tied for fifth at 1-under 213. Hatzenbuehler had a 75 in his final round.
Vearncombe made a five-spot jump in the standings to tie for 12th at 218.
Individual player Grant Labuschagne shot a second-straight sub-70 round on Tuesday. After starting with an 80 Monday morning, Labuschagne wound up 11th overall at 3-over 217. He shot a 68 on Tuesday.
Freshman Tom Chapman rebounded well from two plus-80 opening rounds, finishing with an even-par 72 to tie for 44th at 235.
The Blue Dragons play their second fall tournament at the Waco River Classic on September 28-29 in Waco, Texas.
