The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team opens the second semester of competition for the 2025-26 season on Saturday in Northwest Kansas.

The No. 19-ranked Blue Dragons (11-3, 6-2 KJCCC) travel to play the Colby Trojans (6-7, 3-4 KJCCC) at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Colby Event Center in Colby, Kansas.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 12:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Daren Dunn (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 12:45 p.m.

The Blue Dragons last took the court 21 days ago on December 13, a 77-67 victory over Cloud County at the Sports Arena. That victory has Hutchinson in sole possession of third place in the Jayhawk Conference as the second half of the season begins. The Blue Dragons trail first-place and top-ranked Dodge City by 1.5 games in the standings. They are 0.5 games behind second-place Butler.

Colby is in 7th place in the KJCCC at the holiday break at 3-4. The Trojans dropped a 72-55 decision at Coffeyville on December 13 and had dropped 3 of its last 4 games entering the break.

With a 3-0 season-series sweep of the Trojans last season - Hutchinson defeated Colby 69-59 in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Region 6 Tournament at the Sports Arena - the Blue Dragons have won 22 consecutive games over Colby.

Entering play on Saturday, sophomore guard&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wbkb/2025-26/bios/duncan_katie_ltx7">Katie Duncan</a>&nbsp;is the Blue Dragons' leading scorer and the eighth-leading scorer in the KJCCC at 13.6 points per game and is eighth in the KJCCC at 2.8 steals per game.

Freshman&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wbkb/2025-26/bios/barber_kamyra_spfy">KaMyra Barber</a>&nbsp;is 11th in the league at 13.4 points per game. Barber is also 10th in the league in rebounding at 6.9 boards per game.

Blue Dragon freshman point guard&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/wbkb/2025-26/bios/brown_whitney_uv6o">Whitney Brown</a>&nbsp;leads the Jayhawk in assists at 4.9 assists per game.

Sophomore forward Dessirae Ulmer is Colby's leading scorer at 12.7 points per game. Missing the first three games of the season, Ulmer is sixth in the KJCCC in field-goal percentage at 52.1 percent and is ninth in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game.

🏀 No. 19 HutchCC women return to action Saturday at Colby

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas football head coach Lance Leipold announced Friday that Andy Kotelnicki, the leader of some of the most prolific offenses in school history, will return to the Jayhawks' coaching staff for the 2026 season. With 21 years of coaching experience, including three seasons at Kansas, Kotelnicki will serve as the Jayhawks' Associate Head Coach.

Kotelnicki rejoins the Jayhawks, where he served as offensive coordinator in 2021-22 and associate head coach/offensive coordinator in 2023. Kotelnicki and Kansas head coach Lance Leipold worked together for 11 seasons at Kansas, Buffalo and UW-Whitewater.

The veteran coach spent the past two seasons at Penn State, helping lead the Nittany Lions to a win in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and a semifinal appearance in the 2024 College Football Playoff. Under his direction, the Nittany Lions consistently ranked among the nation's top offenses, leading the country in first downs (367) and explosive plays of more than 10 yards (253) in 2024. This past season, Kotelnicki helped Penn State to four straight wins to close out the season and a victory in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl.

"We are excited to welcome Andy and his family back to Lawrence," head coach Lance Leipold said. "Andy is familiar with our staff and culture, has run successful offenses for nearly two decades, and his experience over the past two seasons at Penn State will add to our program in a variety of ways. In his three seasons with the Jayhawks, Kotelnicki helped Kansas to back-to-back bowl appearances for just the second time in school history, including appearances in the 2022 AutoZone Liberty Bowl and the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl, while the offensive production at KU reached new heights. The 2022 and 2023 teams are two of the three highest scoring offenses in program history with the 2022 squad averaging 35.6 points per game and the 2023 team averaging 34.8. In 2022, the Jayhawks averaged 7.0 yards per play, which established a new school record that still stands.

The 2023 247Sports Offensive Coordinator of the Year while at Kansas, Kotelnicki led a KU offense ranking seventh in the nation in yards per completion (14.8), eighth in yards per play (7.0), rushing (211.3), yards per rush (5.51) and explosive play percentage (17.2), and ninth in first down efficiency percentage (56.4) and rushing touchdowns per game (2.5).

In 2022, Kotelnicki oversaw one of the prolific offensive attacks in KU school history. Kansas averaged 7.0 yards per play that season, ranking second nationally behind Ohio State (7.60). Kansas' 7.0 yards per play also broke the program record of 6.40 set in 1950. Kansas had 41 plays of 31-plus yards throughout the 2022 season, which ranked seventh nationally.

In his first season with the Jayhawks, Kansas saw marked improvements in several key offensive categories. The Jayhawks averaged 324.2 yards per game, after averaging 259.2 yards in 2020. The offensive line allowed just 16 sacks in 12 games after surrendering 47 in nine games the season before Kotelnicki arrived.

Prior to his arrival at Kansas, Kotelnicki directed some of the best offenses in school history at the University of Buffalo, alongside Leipold.

In 2020, Kotelnicki was named one of four finalists for the FootballScoop Offensive Coordinator of the Year Award. The Bulls went 6-1 and averaged school records of 478.4 yards of total offense and 287.4 rushing yards per contest. UB ranked second in the nation in rushing (287.4) and fifth in scoring at 43.5 points per game. Bulls All-American running back Jaret Patterson led the nation in rushing, averaging 178.7 yards per game in 2020.

In 2019, under Kotelnicki, the Buffalo offense ranked 10th in the nation in rushing, tallying 3,256 yards, shattering the single-season school record. Patterson rushed for a school-record 1,799 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2019 and ranked fifth in the nation in rushing, while Kevin Marks rushed for 1,035 yards – marking the first time in school history UB had two 1,000-yard rushers in the same season.

Buffalo featured a record-breaking offense in 2018, setting single-season school records for total offense (5,803 yards) and offensive touchdowns (64) with quarterback Tyree Jackson being named the 2018 MAC Offensive Player of the Year – the first time in school history a Buffalo player won the award.

Buffalo's offense made significant progress under Kotelnicki in 2017, ranking sixth in the nation in most improved scoring offense, sixth in most improved passing offense and eighth in fewest turnovers.

Prior to Buffalo, Kotelnicki spent two seasons at Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he won two national championships under Leipold and went 30-0 overall as offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator.

The Warhawks led the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in scoring (40.1), rushing (218.2) and passing (269.5) in 2014 and paced the WIAC and ranked among the top five in the nation in first downs (311), interceptions allowed (1) and turnover margin (+2.3) in 2013.

Prior to Whitewater, Kotelnicki served as offensive coordinator at the University of Mary, an NCAA Division II school in Bismarck, North Dakota, for two seasons.

Kotelnicki spent six seasons as an assistant coach at UW-River Falls, including four as offensive coordinator, in 2003 and from 2006-10. The Falcons set 24 offensive school records during his second stint, and he was promoted to assistant head coach for the 2010 campaign.

Kotelnicki also worked at Western Illinois, where he coached tight ends, special teams and the offensive line, from 2004-06. He was also an assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2004-05 and the interim strength and conditioning coach in 2006.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday that he plans to return next season, batting away any thought of an impending retirement by making a tongue-in-cheek joke about his status with a franchise he has led to three Super Bowl titles.

“I mean, I think I’m coming back, right?” Reid told local Kansas City reporters on a Zoom call. “If they’ll have me back, I’ll come back. You never know in this business. That’s a tough one. But I plan on it, yeah.”

The 67-year-old Reid is accustomed to answering questions about his future in February, after the Chiefs have played in the Super Bowl, which they had done each of the past three years. But he’s less familiar with facing those questions in the final days of December, when the Chiefs have long since been eliminated from postseason contention.

Kansas City is 6-10 as it prepares for its season finale this weekend in Las Vegas.

Reid, who signed a five-year, $100 million extension with the Chiefs in April 2024, spent his first 14 seasons as an NFL head coach in Philadelphia, where he led the Eagles to 130 regular-season wins and 10 more in the playoffs. That included four seasons that ended in the NFC title game and another that ended with a loss in the Super Bowl.

Reid’s past 13 years have come in Kansas City, where he has won at an even greater clip.

With Alex Smith at quarterback the first five years and Patrick Mahomes under center since, the Chiefs have piled up 149 regular-season wins and gone 18-8 in the playoffs. This season will end streaks of 10 consecutive playoff trips, nine straight AFC West titles, seven consecutive AFC title game appearances and the past three years in the Super Bowl.

In five trips to the big game, Reid and Co. have brought three Lombardi Trophies back to Kansas City. Bill Belichick is the only coach with more Super Bowl rings, capturing six of them with Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Reid has 307 wins overall. He needs 18 to pass George Halas for third on the NFL’s career list behind Belichick and Don Shula.&nbsp;&nbsp;

🏀 Haggerty's big second-half leads K-State past Louisiana-Monroe

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Broncos coach Sean Payton sent his offense back onto the field on fourth down Thursday night, the ball inside the Kansas City Chiefs' 10-yard line and less than 2 minutes left on the clock — and no intention of ever snapping it.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones didn't know that. And when he jumped, and the offsides penalty gave Denver a fresh set of down, Bo Nix needed a mere three more plays to hit R.J. Harvey with the go-ahead touchdown pass in a 20-13 victory Thursday night.

One secured when the Broncos made one last stop in the closing second at their end of the field.

“We were going to take the delay-of-game,” Payton said afterward. “Obviously that changed the complexion of the clock, and that was a big play. We were going to take the penalty and kick the field goal. That was the plan.”

Now, the Broncos (13-3) are one step closer to locking up the AFC West, which they can do while watching at home if Houston beats the Chargers on Saturday. They also have a chance to still land the No. 1 seed and first-round playoff bye.

“It would be relaxing,” Payton said of clinching this weekend. “It would be nice.”

Nix also ran for a touchdown while throwing for 182 yards as the Broncos beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium for the first time since September 17, 2015. They also have won four of the last five in the series following a string of 16 consecutive losses.

“It's great to get that win," Payton said. “You always have to remember this: You're playing the heart of a champion, Andy Reid and this team. I don't care who comes out of that locker room. This is a team that basically has been at the top of our league for the better part of this century, and there's a ton of respect we have for what they've been able to accomplish.”

Oladokun wound up with 66 yards passing. Kelce had five catches for 36 of those yards in what might have been the last game played by the Pro Bowl tight end at Arrowhead Stadium — he plans to announce soon after the season whether he is retiring.

“I’ll let that be a decision I’ll make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization when the time comes," Kelce said.

The Broncos were nearly two-touchdown favorites, according to BetMGM, yet the Chiefs may have been inspired by hearing about the Vikings, who earlier in the day&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/lions-vikings-score-3d9f572ff2afb9031d1a1b5b63140887">knocked off the favored Lions</a>&nbsp;behind their defense and their own third-string quarterback.

After giving up a grinding, 14-play drive that soaked up more than half the first quarter and net the Broncos a field goal, Kansas City allowed little else through the first 30 minutes. And along the way, a defense put its top two cornerbacks on injured reserve this week managed to pick off Nix, setting up a short field that Oladokun converted into his first career touchdown throw.

It also happened to be Brashard Smith's first career touchdown catch.

The Broncos tried to answer with another 8-plus minute drive late in the half, but Courtland Sutton dropped a would-be touchdown toss in the closing seconds, and Wil Lutz had to kick his second chip-shot field goal to make it 7-6 at the break.

Denver finally got one of its long, time-consuming drives into the end zone in the third quarter, though. The Chiefs had pushed the lead to 10-6 when the Broncos churned through 72 yards in nearly 10 minutes, and Nix finished by scrambling nine yards for the score.

And the inability of the Kansas City offense to do much of anything was its undoing.

The Chiefs managed just 16 yards on their first three possessions of the second half, and that gave the Broncos a chance. They drove 65 yards late in the fourth quarter, twice converting on third down and then getting a fourth-down gift when Jones went early inside the 10-yard line, allowing Nix to find Harvey in the back of the end zone for the eventual winning score.

“We just did what we had to do,” Nix said.

Broncos: C Luke Wattenberg (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve earlier in the day.

Chiefs: WR Nikko Remigio (knee) was placed on IR. OL Jaylon Moore (knee) and DT Derrick Nnadi (illness) were inactive.

🏈 Defense lifts Broncos to win over the Chiefs on Christmas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Travis Kelce has played 96 regular-season home games for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 36-year-old Kelce, who was chosen for the Pro Bowl for the 11th time on Tuesday, will be inside Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night for a Christmas showdown with the Denver Broncos.

And with the Chiefs eliminated from playoff contention for the first time in a decade, and a trip to Las Vegas for their finale, it could be the last time that Kelce walks off his beloved field.

“What Travis has done to this organization, to his teammates, his coaches, this city — it’s special,” Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said. “I hope like hell that’s not true. I just have so much respect for him.”

Kelce has not yet announced whether he will retire after a superlative 13-year career in which he won three Super Bowl rings and was an All-Pro on four occasions. But he has said that his decision will be made quickly after the season ends, giving the Chiefs ample time to not only prepare for free agency and the draft but their future without him.

“I’d rather just keep the focus on this team right now,” Kelce said last week, “and all the conversations I have with the team and everything moving forward will be with them. And I think it’s a unique time in my life, and unfortunately I know when the season ends this year. Typically we go into it and we don’t know when it will end.”

He’s had a heck of a final season, if that turns out to be the case.

After doubling down on fitness after the Chiefs were waylaid by the Eagles in the Super Bowl last February, Kelce has proceeded to play in every game during a difficult season for the team. He has 68 catches for 803 yards, allowing him to join Jerry Rice as the only players in NFL history to eclipse the 800-yards receiving mark in 12 consecutive seasons.

Kelce also has five touchdown receptions, matching the most he’s had in the past three seasons.

And while Kelce could have shut it down after the Chiefs were eliminated from postseason contention for the first time since his first full season in the NFL, he has continued to take the field every day. He had a single catch for 6 yards in last week’s 26-9 loss to the Titans, but it pushed his streak — the longest active one in the league — to 189 games with at least one reception.

It didn’t help that backup quarterback Gardner Minshew joined Kelce’s good friend, Patrick Mahomes, by tearing ligaments in his knee one week after the two-time MVP. Chris Oladokun finished the game at QB and will start on Thursday night against Denver.

“I will say this: What (Kelce) is going through even these last couple games — we’re out of the playoffs, we’re out, and he’s out there every day, practicing, leading, helping people out,” Nagy said. “That should show a lot of these younger guys why he’s playing this game, and why he is so special.”

🏈 Travis Kelce’s possible final home game for the Chiefs: A bittersweet Christmas showdown

The National Football League on Tuesday released the full AFC and NFC rosters for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games, with the Kansas City Chiefs again at the center of the spotlight after tight end Travis Kelce led all players in fan voting for the second consecutive season.

Kelce anchors a strong Chiefs presence on the AFC roster, joined by guard Trey Smith, center Creed Humphrey and defensive tackle Chris Jones. Humphrey and Jones were named starters, continuing a trend of Kansas City regulars earning Pro Bowl recognition during the franchise’s sustained run of success.

Across the league, the Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks tied for a league-high six selections each. The Los Angeles Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles followed with five apiece.

The NFC roster is led by quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams, who was named the starter, along with standout skill players such as Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs, San Francisco’s Christian McCaffrey and wide receivers Puka Nacua of the Rams and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Lions. Tight ends Trey McBride of Arizona and George Kittle of San Francisco headline the position group.

Detroit and Philadelphia were particularly well represented defensively on the NFC side. Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and linebacker Jack Campbell were named starters, while the Eagles placed multiple players on the roster, including defensive tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Zack Baun. San Francisco also featured prominently, with veterans Kyle Juszczyk, Trent Williams and several special teams selections.

For the first time, the Pro Bowl Games will be held during Super Bowl week. The 2026 edition, powered by Verizon, moves to Super Bowl LX week in the San Francisco Bay Area, replacing its traditional standalone weekend.

The event will air live Tuesday, Feb. 3, with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The AFC-NFC flag football game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and will also air on Disney XD and ESPN Deportes.

The Pro Bowl Games continue the NFL’s modernized all-star format, emphasizing skills competitions and flag football. For Kansas City, the selections further reinforce the Chiefs’ league-wide profile, with Kelce once again finishing atop the fan vote and multiple teammates earning spots among the NFL’s elite.

 </figure>The National Football League on Tuesday released the full AFC and NFC rosters for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games, with the Kansas City Chiefs again at the center of the spotlight after tight end Travis Kelce led all players in fan voting for the second consecutive season.Kelce anchors a strong Chiefs presence on the AFC roster, joined by guard Trey Smith, center Creed Humphrey and defensive tackle Chris Jones. Humphrey and Jones were named starters, continuing a trend of Kansas City regulars earning Pro Bowl recognition during the franchise’s sustained run of success.Across the league, the Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks tied for a league-high six selections each. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Tre White and Flory Bidunga each had 18 points and eight rebounds as No. 17 Kansas used balanced scoring to beat Davidson 90-61 on Monday night.

Six players finished in double figures for the Jayhawks (10-3), including all five starters. Bryson Tiller added 11 points and Jamari McDowell scored 10. Melvin Council Jr. had 10 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Kohl Rosario provided 13 points off the bench as Kansas shot 58% from the field, including 11 for 21 (52%) on 3-pointers. The Jayhawks had 27 assists on 37 baskets and outrebounded Davidson 42-31. White nabbed four of the team's 13 steals.

Roberts Blums was the only player in double figures for the Wildcats (8-4) with 13 points off the bench. Davidson was limited to 36% shooting from the floor and went 2 for 6 at the free-throw line.

Kansas played its second consecutive game without Darryn Peterson. The freshman star, who missed seven straight games earlier this season due to injury, is averaging 25 points in four games.

Kansas led by 19 before Davidson went on a 10-2 run to trim it to 36-25. The Wildcats hit six straight shots during one stretch, though they never cut the deficit to single digits. When White hit his fourth 3 of the first half, the lead was back up to 46-26.

Kansas went to the locker room with a 51-30 cushion. The Jayhawks were led by White’s 16 points. Bidunga and Council each had 10.

The second half didn't start much better for Davidson, as the Wildcats were outscored 7-2 in the first 2:51, leading coach Matt McKillup to exhaust his timeouts with 17:09 left.

Kansas wasted no time distancing itself from the overmatched Wildcats. When Bidunga threw down an alley-oop dunk with 13:03 left in the opening half, the Jayhawks already had stretched the lead to 17-6. Davidson didn't reach double figures until 10:36 remained in the first half.

Kansas is off until starting Big 12 play Jan. 3 at UCF.

🏀Kansas uses balanced scoring to defeat Davidson 

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Marcus Woodson, an accomplished secondary coach with 21 years of experience, has been hired as Kansas State's co-defensive coordinator working with the defensive backs, head coach Collin Klein announced Monday.

Woodson arrives in Manhattan after spending the last three seasons on staff at Arkansas, serving as the Razorbacks' co-defensive coordinator.

"My family and I are incredibly excited to join the Kansas State family," said Woodson, who crossed paths with K-State defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson when the duo worked together at Fresno State in 2014 and 2015. "I am grateful for the opportunity to pour into our players and help build something special here in Manhattan."

This will be Woodson's first stint in the Big 12 having previously spent five seasons in the SEC and three in the ACC.

"Marcus is a great addition to our defensive staff," said Klein. "He is of high character, hard working and a winner. I am excited for him to help lead our defense and develop our secondary."

In his first season in Fayetteville, Woodson helped the Arkansas secondary to its best pass defense in 12 seasons, allowing 202.8 yards per game. It ranked 31st nationally that season, a 99-spot improvement from the previous year. As a whole, Arkansas allowed its fewest yards per game in a decade (357.2), while Woodson's secondary also contributed to the Razorbacks' national-leading five defensive touchdowns.

Year two at Arkansas saw Woodson help the Hogs open the season with their first shutout in six seasons in addition to road victories at Auburn and Mississippi State. Against the Tigers, Woodson saw the secondary pick off a season-high four passes and break up six others, while they picked off a pair of passes against the Bulldogs.

Woodson joined the Arkansas staff after spending three seasons at Florida State as the Seminoles' defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator. In 2022, he tutored a unit that helped the Seminoles rank fourth in the nation by allowing only 165.4 passing yards per game. Woodson coached safety Jammie Robinson to his second-straight All-ACC First Team honor in 2022 as he led Florida State with 99 tackles. It was the second-straight year Robinson paced the defense in stops as he had 84 tackles and an ACC-best four interceptions in 2021.

Robinson was the latest in a line of Woodson pupils to be selected in the NFL Draft when he was taken in the fifth round by Carolina in 2023. It was the seventh time in a four-year span a Woodson product was selected, including 2020 first-round selection Noah Igbinoghene, who was the 30th overall pick by the Miami Dolphins after Woodson coached him through move from wide receiver to defensive back upon his arrival at Auburn in 2018.

Florida State had eight different defenders grab at least one interception and force 20 total takeaways in 2021. FSU picked off at least one pass in eight-straight games to end the year, the longest streak in the nation to finish out the 2021 season and tied for the longest streak in the country at any point during that year.

During the 2020 season, Woodson's defensive backfield at Florida State was responsible for 10 takeaways and added four forced fumbles. He helped continue the development of All-ACC First Team selection Asante Samuel Jr. into one of the nation's premiere defensive backs. Samuel finished the season by leading all active ACC defenders with 29 career pass breakups before being selected in the second-round of the NFL Draft pick by the Los Angeles Chargers.

Woodson went to Florida State from Auburn where the Tigers won 17 games over the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In 2019 as the co-defensive coordinator, Woodson helped the Tigers rank eighth nationally in third down defense (29.9%) and red zone defense (71.8%), while he coached safety Jeremiah Dinson to All-SEC Second Team honors. The year prior, the Tigers returned three interceptions for touchdowns – the ninth-highest total in the nation – while they ranked 14th in the country in scoring defense (19.2 points allowed per game).

Woodson headed to The Plains after two seasons at Memphis coaching the Tigers' defensive backs. Memphis won 18 games over the two seasons, forcing a combined 60 takeaways, the second-highest total in the nation during that span. The Tigers picked off 32 passes in Woodson's two seasons and were one of only six teams in the country to record at least 16 interceptions in both 2016 and 2017.

Prior to joining the Memphis staff, Woodson coached defensive backs at Fresno State in 2014 and 2015. Woodson helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2014 Mountain West Conference Championship Game and a berth in the Hawai'i Bowl and along the way coached safety Derron Smith to All-Mountain West Conference First Team accolades before being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

From 2009 through 2013, Woodson coached defensive backs and was the recruiting coordinator at Charleston Southern – tutoring five all-conference defensive backs – while he added defensive passing game coordinator duties for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He began his coaching career at Millsaps College where he was the defensive backs coach from 2005 through 2008. The Majors won three consecutive conference championships, including an 11-1 record and No. 12 final ranking in 2008.

Woodson was a two-year starting safety at Ole Miss prior to his playing career being cut short by an injury just before his senior season of 2003. During his time as a player, the Rebels advanced to four bowl games, including the Cotton Bowl, the Music City Bowl and two trips to the Independence Bowl. He went to Ole Miss after helping lead Moss Point High School to two state titles.

A native of Moss Point, Mississippi, Woodson obtained his bachelor's degree in political science with an emphasis in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi in 2003, and he was selected for the Senior Leadership Unity Council.

Woodson and his wife, Chastity, have two sons, Carter and Bryce.

Toth (pronounced TOETH) comes to Manhattan from Air Force where he served the last four seasons as the Falcons' safeties coach.

Toth brings seven years of defensive coordinator experience to K-State, serving in the role at Mercyhurst (2006), Ashland (2007-08) and Fresno State (2012-15), while he called the Air Force defense during the second half of the 2025 season. He has also been part of 13 teams that have advanced to postseason play. Toth worked on the same staffs as K-State defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson at Texas A&amp;M (2010-11) and Fresno State (2012-16).

"Nick brings a wealth of experience from a schematic and recruiting standpoint," Klein said. "He is of extremely high character and hard working. We are excited to have him help us take K-State to the next level."

In 2024, Toth was part of a Falcon defense unit that led the Mountain West Conference in total defense (341.9 yards per game), while Air Force ranked third nationally first down defense (204) and 27th in passing defense (188.5 yards per game). His work in 2024 came on the heels of helping safety Trey Taylor win the 2023 Jim Thrope Award as the nation's top defensive back, while Taylor was also a First Team All-American. Toth helped the Falcons to the No. 1 total defense in the Mountain West Conference for five-straight seasons.

Toth was part of an Air Force defensive staff in 2022 that led the nation in total defense by allowing 254.4 yards per game, while the Falcons ranked second in pass defense (159.1 yards per game), third in scoring defense (13.4 yards per game) and fifth in rushing defense (95.3 yards per game). The 13.4 points allowed per game ranked sixth in program history.

Toth went to Air Force after working with the outside linebackers at Oregon in 2021. He coached All-American defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, who was a finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy before he was the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. That season, the Ducks finished with a 10-4 record, won the Pac-12 North and played in the Alamo Bowl.

Prior to his year at Oregon, Toth spent three seasons at UCF as the Knights' special teams coordinator. UCF won the 2018 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship and earned a berth into the Fiesta Bowl during his first season, while the Knights produced a 10-3 record in 2019 that was capped by a win over Marshall in the Gasparilla Bowl. In 2019, UCF rose to as high as No. 7 in the Associated Press Top-25, while it went 6-4 in the COVID season of 2020.

The Knights' special teams units played an integral role in the team's success in 2018, blocking a pair of field goals and inducing four other misses. Placekicker Matthew Wright earned All-AAC honors after connecting on 85.7% of his field goal attempts to rank 15th in the nation. Wright also collected 110 total points, the third most in a single season in UCF history.

His defense earned 17 All-Mountain West selections and one unanimous All-American in safety Phillip Thomas in 2012. Thomas was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, won the CFPA Defensive Back Trophy and was the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year after leading the nation with eight interceptions.After having only nine turnovers gained the year before Toth's hiring, Fresno State came back in 2012 and recorded the greatest turnover turnaround in the FBS since the turn of the century. Finishing with 35 takeaways in 2012 (ranking fifth in the FBS), the Bulldogs' differential in turnovers gained in one season under Toth was plus-26.His 2013 defense ranked sixth in the nation with more than three sacks per game and 40 total for the season, while the Bulldogs ranked fourth with 8.2 tackles for loss per game. Over the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Fresno State and Stanford were the only schools in the country to rank in the top 10 in sacks both years.Toth's lone experience in the Big 12 came at Texas A&amp;M in 2010 and 2011 – the Aggies' final two years in the conference – as he coached the outside linebackers and special teams. In College Station, Toth oversaw the development of linebacker Von Miller, who captured the prestigious Butkus Award during an All-America campaign in 2010. Miller went on to be the No. 2 overall pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2011 NFL Draft. He was also responsible for coaching the No. 1 kicker in the nation, Lou Groza Award winner Randy Bullock.Prior to his two seasons at Texas A&amp;M, Toth was the defensive backs coach and oversaw the special teams at The Citadel in 2009. He went there after three years as a defensive coordinator, working at Mercyhurst (Pennsylvania) in 2006 and Ashland (Ohio) in 2007 and 2008.Toth coached defensive backs at Elon (2005), defensive linemen at Ohio (2004) and defensive backs at Dakota State (2002). He was also the special teams coordinator at Elon, spent the 2003 season as the tight ends coach at Ohio and was a defensive graduate assistant with the Bobcats from 2000-01.A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Toth played both running back and defensive back for Ohio University from 1994 to 1999.
