Wichita State guard Kenyon Giles and Kansas forward Tre White have temporarily been granted another season of college eligibility following an Indiana court ruling Wednesday.
A Monroe County judge issued a preliminary injunction that prevents the NCAA from enforcing eligibility rules that would keep certain athletes from competing for a fifth season.
Giles and White were among the athletes named in the lawsuit challenging the NCAA’s eligibility restrictions. The injunction allows both players to compete for now while the case continues through the courts.
The NCAA is expected to appeal the ruling.
Giles led Wichita State in scoring last season, averaging 19.1 points per game and finishing third in the American Conference. It was his first season with the Shockers after playing one season at UNC Greensboro and two seasons at Radford.
White averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for Kansas last season, ranking second on the team in both categories. Before joining the Jayhawks, White played one season each at USC, Louisville and Illinois.
