Michael Jerome Howard, 81, died August 17, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born June 25, 1942, in Shreveport, LA, to Thomas Eugene “Gene” and Lillian Margaret (Lockhart) Howard.

Michael graduated from Garden City High School in 1960. &nbsp;He served in the United States Army Reserves, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. &nbsp;Michael also retired as a service technician from Pitney Bowes. &nbsp;He enjoyed antique cars, hot rods, motorcycles, racing, coffee at Spangles, and spending time with his family and friends. &nbsp;Michael was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Church of the Holy Cross, and Knights of Columbus, all of Hutchinson.

On October 6, 1966, he marred Phyllis Ann Ary, in Garden City.

Michael is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 57 years, Phyllis; sons, Steven Howard (Stephanie) and Shane Howard; daughter, Sonya Howard; grandchildren, Bryant Howard, Alissa Johnson, Austin Howard, Joshua Gandham, and Ava Gandham; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Howard Lewis, Margaret Howard Payne Hall, and Mary Howard LaFitte (Don); brothers, Thomas Howard (Kathy) and Patrick Howard (Brenda); sisters-in-law, Cora Howard and Theresa Howard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; brothers, James Andrew Howard, Eugene Mark Howard, Leslie Howard, and Timothy Howard.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023. &nbsp;Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson, with Father William P. Stuever officiating. Karen K. Vermillion 76, died Thursday August 17, 2023 at Wesley on Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. &nbsp;She was born June 12, 1947 in Anthony, Kansas to William and Elizabeth (Seifert) Hesser. On February 20, 1965 she married Kenneth Martin and he preceded her in death in 2014. She later married Jack Vermillion on June 12, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Newton and he survives of the home. &nbsp;

Karen was a payroll secretary for a school system and also worked part time at Heartland Credit Union in her retirement,

She is survived by her husband Jack of the home; daughters Shelly R. (Mike) Tritt and Sheila R. (Cuba) Martinez; sister Barbra (Robert) Roberts and 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband Kenneth; she is also preceded in death by a son in law

Ruth Marie (Leiker) Howard, 81, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023.

She was born on May 15, 1942, in Hays, Kansas, to Edmund F. and Pearl (Kippes) Leiker. Ruth grew up with three sisters; Hazel Roberts, of Wheatland, Wyoming, Clarissa Ann Augustine, of Hays, and Carol Zedaker, of Wheatland, Wyoming.

Ruth was known for her generous and strong spirit. She was an independent and intelligent woman who dedicated her life to her family. On November 3, 1962, Ruth married Theodore Dinges, Jr. and together they had three children, Suzanne Shackelford (Pete) of Hutchinson, Michael Dinges (Tana) of Hays, and Deborah Jones (Keith) of Palos Verdes Estates, California. Ruth had four beloved grandchildren, Celeste Conklin (Sam), Michael “Rawley” Dinges, Austin Jones, Kenny Jones, and a great grandson, Samuel Jacob “SJ” Conklin, Jr.

Later, Ruth married Galen Howard of Arlington, Kansas on July 31, 1989 and was welcomed by his three children Teresa Mattheis (Dennis) of Omaha, Nebraska, David Howard (Kami) of Basehor, and Mike Howard (Melissa) of Lawrence. Ruth loved her entire extended family, including her grandchildren Scott Hornbaker (Megan), Maresa Sierra (Matt). Kendra Hornbaker, Madison Howard, Zachary Howard, Lauren Howard, and Emily Howard, and great-grandchildren, Henley Hornbaker and Lincoln Sierra.

Ruth had a long career as a manager for Fuller Brush. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed playing violin in the Hutchinson Symphony, where she also served as the librarian for many years. Her passion for music brought joy to her life and those around her. She was an active member of Holy Cross Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. She found solace and strength in her faith and served the church for many years as the church librarian.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Galen, her son Michael, and her sister Clarissa Ann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:00 am until service time with a rosary at 9:30 am, all on Saturday at the church. A rosary with family present will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 18, 2023 at The Church of the Holy Cross in Hutchinson, followed by light refreshments. Darrell worked in food service at Newton Medical Center for many years and attended First Missionary Church in Newton.

He is survived by his mother Arlene; brothers James and Rodney Mosiman and step brothers Gene and Jim Corfman; sister Pamela (Curtis) Schmidt and step sister Jolene (Mike) Erpelidine.

James William “Jim” Rhaesa, 91, died July 28, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born July 14, 1932, in Detroit, MI, to James Robert and Eleanor Elise (Ironside) Rhaesa.

Jim graduated from Wayne Memorial High School, Wayne, MI, in 1951, Sterling College in 1955, and received his Master’s Degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1958. &nbsp;He served in the ministry for over 60 years. &nbsp;As a Presbyterian Pastor, Jim served churches in Denison, Lincoln, Jetmore, Salina, and Overland Park. &nbsp;In addition, he served as the camp director for Heartland Presbyterian Center. After retirement, Jim joined the team at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson where he served as Pastor of Congregational Care and sang in the Chancel Choir.

He truly loved the ministry, and his congregations loved him with his gifted listening skills and ability to truly care about people. &nbsp;After he fully retired, Jim thrived on staying busy running errands, working in the yard, and enjoying his morning coffee.

On November 1, 1980, he married Barbara Darlene (Seward) Anshutz, in Leavenworth.&nbsp;

Jim is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 43 years, Barbara Rhaesa of Hutchinson; children, Jim Rhaesa (Tina) of Evans, GA, Beth Stevens (Sam) of Aurora, CO, David Rhaesa (Rebecca) of Salina, Lesa Brown (Andy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Katie Wadsworth (Nathan) of Wichita, and Megan Rhaesa of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Eleanor Thompson.

He was preceded in death by five siblings and his former wife, Carol.

James William “Jim” Rhaesa |1932-2023|

Donna Joan Bether, 91, just 11 days before her 92nd birthday, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd L. and Emma (Schrader) Dean. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. On February 26, 1950, she married John Riley Bether. John and Donna had three children, John Wayne, Terry Allen, and Beth Ellen.

In her younger years, Donna worked at the 14th and Main Street Dillons store and later at Meschke’s Menswear and Long’s Clothing in downtown Hutchinson. She enjoyed providing good service and a smiling face to every customer.

Donna and John lived in the country just outside of Nickerson for many years, and after that, for the last 17 years, Donna lived in Independent Living at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler where she made many dear friends and kept her candy dish filled for visitors. Donna enjoyed life. Friday mornings weren’t complete unless she visited with her friends and had breakfast at the Mustard Seed in Buhler. She loved watching old westerns on television, and never missed a K.C. Royals or Chiefs game. Family celebrations were not complete until Grandma arrived to join the fun. She adored all children and doted on her own children, their families, her grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.

Survivors include sons John and wife Nancy, Terry and wife Terri, and daughter, Beth Bether; grandchildren, Heather Starks (Jeremy), Joshua Bether, Jennifer Nugent (Michael), Michael Bether (Rebecca); great-grandchildren, Kaeci (Tyler), Zak, Baelie, Madison, James, Micah, Ryanne, and Nathan; great-great grandchildren, Mason, Ayden, and Josie. Donna is also survived by many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Flo Crump.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband John Riley of 57 years, her parents, her brother, Floyd A. (Bub) Dean, and grandson, Jason Riley Bether.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  </figure>Donna Joan Bether, 91, just 11 days before her 92nd birthday, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd L. and Emma (Schrader) Dean. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. On February 26, 1950, she married John Riley Bether. John and Donna had three children, John Wayne, Terry Allen, and Beth Ellen.In her younger years, Donna worked at the 14th and Main Street Dillons store and later at Meschke’s Menswear and Long’s Clothing in downtown Hutchinson. She enjoyed providing good service and a smiling face to every customer.Donna and John lived in the country just outside of Nickerson for many years, and after that, for the last 17 years, Donna lived in Independent Living at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler where she made many dear friends and kept her candy dish filled for visitors. Donna enjoyed life. Friday mornings weren’t complete unless she visited with her friends and had breakfast at the Mustard Seed in Buhler. She loved watching old westerns on television, and never missed a K.C. Royals or Chiefs game. Family celebrations were not complete until Grandma arrived to join the fun. She adored all children and doted on her own children, their families, her grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.Survivors include sons John and wife Nancy, Terry and wife Terri, and daughter, Beth Bether; grandchildren, Heather Starks (Jeremy), Joshua Bether, Jennifer Nugent (Michael), Michael Bether (Rebecca); great-grandchildren, Kaeci (Tyler), Zak, Baelie, Madison, James, Micah, Ryanne, and Nathan; great-great grandchildren, Mason, Ayden, and Josie. Jo Ann Reed Cole, 95, of Hutchinson, died August 15, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born April 17, 1928, in Larned, to H. Leon “Hopper” and Mae (Couchman) Reed.

Jo Ann graduated from Larned High School in 1946 and Stephens College in Columbia, MO, in 1948. She was owner and president of Jo Ann’s Fans and McVay Wrecker Service. Jo Ann was a member of DAR, Fort Larned Chapter; Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary for over 55 years, serving as a board member and volunteer; Hutchinson Symphony, where she played the violin and served on the board; and First Presbyterian Church, where she previously served as Elder. Jo Ann loved to golf and play bridge. She especially loved whale-watching vacations with her family in Maui.

On December 4, 1954, Jo Ann married Bill Rayl Cole, in Larned. He died November 18, 1993. She had been previously married to Vincent Ralph Stephens Sr.

Jo Ann is survived by: her children, Vince Stephens Jr. (Pattie) of Hutchnson, Janet Cole of Salem, SC, Martha Blood (Gilman) of Overland Park; grandchildren, Hunter Cole (Heidi) of Colorado Springs, CO, Chandler Blood of Overland Park, Bailey Blood of Lawrence; step-grandson, Justin Crane (Jennifer) of Hutchinson; step-granddaughters, Amy Burgett of Hays, Jenny Burgett of Rogers, AR; step-great-granddaughter, Jaden Burgett of Rogers, AR; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Norma Crawford.

Steven Lee Morris, age 72, died August 13, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center following a short illness. He was born August 23, 1950, in Bethesda Maryland to Ray and Violet Boehm Morris. He married Linda M. Shultz on July 8, 1978, in Hutchinson.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Morris, brothers-in-law Don Meier and Ed Shultz, brother- and sister-in-law Bruce and Janice Shultz, and infant son Samuel Andrew Morris.

Steve is survived by his wife Linda and former foster daughter, Briana Gamblain-Weber, of the home. He is also survived by his brothers James (Jimmy) of Washington, D.C., and David (Dave). Other survivors include sister-in-law Wanda Morris Blevins of Culpeper, VA, sisters-in-law Theda Shultz and Marilyn Meier of Arlington, brother- and sister-in-law Ray and Evelyn Shultz of Randolph, KS, numerous nephews and nieces, cats Frankie and Pepper and his special companion, “nurse cat” Snowflake.

After graduation from Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge, VA, Steve began working for Dart Drug (81 stores in the metro D.C. area). A co-worker invited him to attend Marumsco Baptist Church, and Steve heard the Gospel for the first time: that Jesus Christ took our sin debt to the cross and paid the penalty of death, that He was buried, and that He arose after three days! Steve heard that he must be born again (John 3:7) by personally asking the Lord to forgive and save him. Steve had completed Confirmation classes, but realized that the waters of baptism can never cleanse the heart; only the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ can wash away sin. Steve gladly received Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved,” Romans 10:13. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost” Titus 3:5.

Steve had a natural talent for drawing and Pastor Alec Bledsoe encouraged him to study art at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Steve attended for two years. It was there that he met and fell in love with his wife Linda. After their marriage, the Morrises lived in Woodbridge for a year and Steve continued to work for Dart Drug.

Steve and Linda moved to Kansas in 1979, and Steve worked for Collins Bus as wheelchair lift assembler, Walmart as layaway associate, and Durham School Services as bus driver. Steve was an enthusiastic league bowler with a 220 average. Steve enjoyed watching football on TV. It didn’t matter to him who was playing, as long as the game was competitive. After retirement, Steve wrote and self-published (Amazon) two novels: Memories and Bad Men United – Déjà vu.

In the spring of 2002, Steve and Linda attended a revival service at Riverside Baptist Church, and Steve rededicated his life to the Lord. On May 12, 2002, Steve and Linda transferred their church membership to Riverside Baptist. Steve was later elected as Deacon. He also began representing the church in nursing home chapels. At one time, Steve preached in five different facilities. Steve encouraged the church to buy a bus with a wheelchair lift so he could pick up residents for the Sunday evening service. Because the residents had to miss supper to go to church, Steve would always stop at a fast-food restaurant and treat them to a meal before taking them back to the facility.

Steve’s health began to decline following a bout with sepsis in 2021. Then in January 2022 he fell in the home and after spending almost a month in a hospital in Wichita, remained bedfast. Steve’s hospital bed in the dining nook became control central of the home. Using his laptop computer, he continued to create bulletins and word search puzzles for the nursing home ministry. He managed the family finances and ordered hard-to-find supplies online. Steve was Linda’s go-to tech when she encountered problems with the desk computer, printer, or Wi-Fi router, and he was the one who reminded her to install computer updates. Needless to say, he also retained control of the TV remote.

Every evening at 9:30 Steve would ask Linda and Bri to come to family altar time. They took turns choosing a song to sing, then they read a chapter in the Bible and prayed together.

Steve loved his pastor Richard Haley dearly, along with church family. He very much appreciated their prayers, love, and support. We rejoice with Steve in his new home, complete with healthy body and sin-free mind.

The family thanks Enhabit Home Health and Enhabit Hospice for their wonderful care of Steve during the last year. What a blessing the Enhabit therapists, nurses, and other staff brought to our home! The family also thanks the staff of Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care that Steve and they received during the last week of his earthly life.

Sarah Frances Burris, 89, passed away August 15, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born February 3, 1934, in Heard County, GA, to Joe W. and Fannie Lou (Folds) Thaxton.

Sarah married John J. Meadows on May 27, 1955, in Arizona. &nbsp;He passed away on May 20, 1963. &nbsp;On July 27, 1971, Sarah married Earl V. Burris, Sr. in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;He passed away on August 24, 2014.

Sarah and husband Earl were co-owners of Standard Press, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was a registered nurse at Grace Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital, currently Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, retiring in June 1997 with 35 years of service. &nbsp;After retirement, Sarah volunteered at the American Red Cross.

She is survived by: her children, Mark (June) Meadows of Douglas, KS, John (Diane) Meadows of Yoder, KS, Debbie (David) Trotter of Hutchinson, KS, and Larry (Marcia) Meadows of South Hutchinson, KS; stepchildren, Earl V. Burris, Jr. of Texas, Tom Burris of Nickerson, KS, and Pam Holderness of Springfield, MO; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ronald Guy “Ron” Salyer, 88, died August 14, 2023, at his home. &nbsp;He was born August 27, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Dr. Guy and Vera (Hickman) Salyer.

Ron graduated from Menomonie High School, Menomonie, WI, and received his Bachelor of Political Science from the University of Kansas. &nbsp;On October 9, 1959, he married Marilyn Peer, in San Diego, CA. &nbsp;

Ron retired after 20 years of service as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He then worked as an independent investment broker at Salyer Financial Services in Great Bend, Kansas, where he proudly served on the city council. In 2006, Ron and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Hutchinson where he volunteered with the Reno County Sheriff Senior Patrol Program and the Kansas Cosmosphere. &nbsp;In addition, he was a member of the Hutchinson Civitan Club, Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Doers Sunday School Class. &nbsp;

Ron is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 64 years, Marilyn; children, Matt Salyer (Teri) and Jennifer Showers (Mickey); grandchildren, Gage and Garrett Salyer, Serin Blowers (Aaron), Lauren Showers, and Madilyn Showers; brothers-in-law, Dr. Gary Peer (Beverly) and Carl Peer (Patricia); and sister-in-law, Karen Kennedy.

He then worked as an independent investment broker at Salyer Financial Services in Great Bend, Kansas, where he proudly served on the city council. Clara Helmuth Miller, 92, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born on April 20, 1931, near Hutchinson, KS, the fourth of ten children, to John and Fannie (Bontrager) Helmuth.

On April 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ira Miller in rural Hutchinson, KS. They shared 60 years of marriage until Ira‘s death on October 14, 2010. Soon after beginning their family, they moved to Mountain View, AR, to assist in a church plant. In February 1958, they moved their family to Iowa City, IA to help Grandpa Miller with his dairy farm. After the dairy farm was sold in 1964, they moved their family back to the Hutchinson area.&nbsp;

Clara realized the need to teach children the way of salvation, so in the 1970’s she began a Busy Bee Bible Club in her home for elementary age children. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for a number of years. Clara was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, KS.

Her favorite hobby was making quilts. Clara made a quilt for each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild. &nbsp;She made a variety of quilts, whole cloth, appliqué, pieced or embroidered. Clara enjoyed her sewing circle as long as her eyesight allowed.&nbsp;

Zuba Ellen Palmer, 84, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson, KS. She was born October 7, 1938 in Moore, Oklahoma to Glen Sr. and Velma (Neally) Moler.

On October 3, 1956, Zuba married Arthur E. Palmer. They shared 45 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing on April 30, 2001. Zuba was a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed reading books in her spare time. She later went on to enjoy watching television series’ like Blue Bloods, and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

She is preceded by her parents, Glen Sr. and Velma; two daughters, Laura Palmer-Crouse and Terry Witt; two sons, George “Mike” Palmer and Charles Palmer; two grandsons, Christopher Spivey and Andrew Witt; and 4 siblings.

Zuba is survived by her sons, Glen Palmer and Martin Palmer; grandchildren, Meeka Palmer-Lummus and husband Robert, Miranda Palmer and husband John Rex, Matthew Crouse and wife Tanya, Krystal Duerksen and husband Derrek, Rachel Palmer, plus 6 more; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Mary Katherine (Wickstrom) Nolan, 102, of Marquette, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, &nbsp;in Marquette.

Mary was born on August 26, 1920, in Conway, KS, the daughter of E. Birdette and Grace B. (Hollingsworth) Wickstrom.&nbsp; She graduated from Marquette High School and Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, MO.&nbsp;

Mary was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1968.&nbsp; She joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1945.&nbsp; She served as a nurse at several Air Force hospitals and was Director of Nursing at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.&nbsp;

On March 9, 1969, Mary was united in marriage to Alson V. Nolan, Jr.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on December 8, 2000.

Survivors include: a niece, Cynthia (Mike) Hulse of Marquette, KS; nephews, Todd Parkhill of Los Angeles, CA and Clif Parkhill, Jr. of Oxnard, CA; great-nephews, Brandon Hulse of Marquette, KS, Lance Hulse of Tipton, KS, and Matthew (Diane) Wickstrom of Marquette, KS; great-great-niece, Kimber Grace Wickstrom; great-great-nephew, John David Wickstrom; step-son, Alson Nolan, III of Mesquite, TX; step-grandsons, Jeffery (Lea) Nolan of Fairview, TX and Michael Patrick Nolan of Allen, TX; step-great-grandson, Parker Scott (Olivia) Nolan of Anna, TX; and many extended family and friends.

Debbie was born to Windell Fallis Sr and Eunice Fallis (Baxter) June 10, 1963.

She is survived by her son, Cody Martin of Hutchinson, brother, Windell Fallis Jr. of Salina, Sisters, Tammy (Kevin) Rowse &nbsp;of Wichita, and Lynn (Tim) Dewbre of Pampa, Texas.&nbsp;

Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Windell Fallis Sr, and grandparents, Berwyn and Grace (Phillips) Baxter.&nbsp;

Debbie spent her days painting, or spending time with family and friends, lounging at home. She was a member of the Union Valley Bible Church.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 17th, at Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N Main St, Hutchinson, KS, starting at 10:00. Graveside services will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park.&nbsp;

Jeannine Ann Rayl, 92, died August 12, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born October 31, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Hal C. and Anna (Magyar) Nelson.

Jeannine graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947, and received her nursing degree from Hutchinson Community Junior College. &nbsp;She was one of the first two married women who were admitted to nursing school. For over 45 years, Jeannine worked as a registered nurse, retiring on her 85th birthday. &nbsp;From taking care of patients to teaching nursing students and nursing classes, Jeannine made an impact on everyone with her knowledge, compassion and extraordinary beauty, both on the inside and outside. &nbsp;In 2014, she was inducted into the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System Nursing Hall of Fame. &nbsp;

Jeannine always made time for fun whether it was cooking, fishing, playing bridge, traveling, or taking vacations. &nbsp;She was an avid golfer and played in numerous golf tournaments. Jeannine was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter D and Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, where she served on numerous committees. &nbsp;She was an amazing nurse, but she always put her family first. &nbsp;Jeannine excelled as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. &nbsp;

Jeannine is survived by: &nbsp;her children, Curtis Sanders (Diane) of Hutchinson, Susan Haines (Fred), and Julie Ross (Robb), all of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Reichert, Jillian Miller (Kevin), Luke Haines (Julisa), Jake Haines (Ashlee), Alex Haines (Amber), Riley Ross (Mindy), Katie Schoenhoff (Mason), and Kari Wilkie (Dennis); 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Jeannette Wyatt of Sun City, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stuart Sanders; and her first husband, Stan Sanders; and her second husband, Willie Rayl.&nbsp;

 </figure>Jeannine Ann Rayl, 92, died August 12, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born October 31, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Hal C. and Anna (Magyar) Nelson.Jeannine graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947, and received her nursing degree from Hutchinson Community Junior College. &nbsp;She was one of the first two married women who were admitted to nursing school. For over 45 years, Jeannine worked as a registered nurse, retiring on her 85th birthday. &nbsp;From taking care of patients to teaching nursing students and nursing classes, Jeannine made an impact on everyone with her knowledge, compassion and extraordinary beauty, both on the inside and outside. &nbsp;In 2014, she was inducted into the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System Nursing Hall of Fame. &nbsp;Jeannine always made time for fun whether it was cooking, fishing, playing bridge, traveling, or taking vacations. &nbsp;She was an avid golfer and played in numerous golf tournaments. Jeannine was also a member of P.E.O. Marjorie Ann Loewen (Marge) born December 11, 1930, passed from this life August 11, 2023. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend, and a sweet, gentle caring soul.&nbsp;

Marge was born December 11, 1930, in Moundridge, KS, the daughter of Lewis and Emma Bender.&nbsp;

She was a faithful longtime member of Eastwood Church of Christ.&nbsp;

On December 31, 1955, Marge married John K Loewen in Moundridge. They had 66 years together prior to John sadly passing away on October 25, 2022.

Marge is survived by: her three daughters, Debbie Wilson of Hutchinson, Diane Farney (Rudy) of Hutchinson, Donna McCoy (Kent) of Granby, CO; grandchildren, Brian Wilson, Jeni Perko (Jack), Ami Ratzlaff (Tanner), Julie McNeil (Brett) and Megan DeCorte (Chris); 15 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Darrel Bender.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her husband, John Loewen; parents, Lewis and Emma Bender; grandson, Kyle McCoy, sister, Irene Banman; and brother, Robert Bender.

Lewellyn “Lew” L. Koehn, 78, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Sandstone Heights Nursing home, Little River.

Lew was born on March 2, 1945, in McPherson, KS, the son of Henry Russell and Lenora Geneva (Unruh) Koehn.&nbsp; He graduated from Canton-Galva High School.&nbsp; On September 12, 1966, Lew was united in marriage to Linda Sue Brack in Canton, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children, Laura and Larry.

He worked at Hay &amp; Forage (AGCO) in Hesston as an assembler.&nbsp; He also was a truck driver for Graves Truck Line.

Survivors include: his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Linda; a daughter, Laura (Marty) Peterson of McPherson, KS; a son, Larry (Misty) Koehn of Moundridge, KS; a brother, Lynn (Vickie) Koehn of Grafton, ND; a sister, Avenell Hines of Galva, KS; five grandchildren, Tony (Stephanie) Peterson, Heather (Nick) Dubois, Zach (Amanda) Peterson, Cody Armstrong, and Andrew Armstrong; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces &amp; nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry &amp; Lenora Koehn; step-father, Jessie Koehn; brother &amp; sister-in-law, Wayne &amp; Cindy Koehn; brother-in-law, Denny Hines; and nephew, Darrin Koehn.

Jim D. Schroeder, 72, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Pine Village. He was born September 9, 1950 at Goessel, Kansas, to Richard D. and Olga (Dalke) Schroeder.

He grew up in the Newton and Moundridge areas, graduating from Moundridge High School with the class of 1968.

Jim was a member of the Moundridge United Methodist Church. He was baptized at the Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.

On October 15, 1977, he married Helen Gehring of Moundridge. They made their home of over 45 years east of Moundridge. After 5 years of marriage, they learned they were going to add to their family, but it wasn’t to be, as they lost their son, Jordan, after 7 months of pregnancy. A year later, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kali, who quickly became a Daddy’s Girl. Three years later, they were blessed again by the birth of their son, Cole, who shared a love of hunting and fishing with his daddy.

Jim worked for Action Equipment, and then MJ’s Truck Repair, until retirement in September of 2020. He served as Treasurer on the fire board, Rural Fire District 7 for over 20 years.

Jim enjoyed a lifetime of his favorite hobbies including working on the farm, hunting, fishing, target shooting, and clay rock shooting with his friends and family. Making his grandkids chocolate milkshakes was always his favorite Grandpa duty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jordan; a granddaughter, Abigail Jantz; and his mother-in-law, Beulah Gehring.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; daughter, Kali (Brad) Jantz of Moundridge; son, Cole (Annie) Schroeder of Farmington, MN; and three grandchildren, Haylee and Trey Jantz, and Madison Schroeder; sister, Peggy (Bob) Fugit of Andover; brother, Russell (Yvonne) Schroeder of Newton; and numerous relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Moundridge United Methodist Church. Delbert W. Mellott, age 86, went to his heavenly home on August 11, 2023. He was born to parents Jewell (Hague) and Willis Mellott.

Delbert loved farming and spent his life doing it. He drove semi’s, and tour buses across the country until he retired in 2011.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Pat, his brother Alan (Judy) Mellott, sister Carolee (Jerry) Foth, children Michelle Mellott, Ginette Huelsman, William (Lanette) Mellott, Jacqueline (Travis) Schuler, 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Roy Lee Williams, 87, of Valley Center, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the Kansas Veterans Home.&nbsp; He was born in Cooper County, Missouri to John W. Williams and Mary (Felton) Williams.&nbsp; After 8th grade graduation, you would find him working jobs for business owners in town. Being a very hard worker, he went into construction and driving Semis to owning his own Fleet of Trucks. He and his late wife Eleanor worked together running the company for many years.&nbsp; In 1953, Roy at St. Louis, Missouri entered the United States Navy, where he served until 1957.&nbsp; He had a great heart, mind and honor in his service to his Nation.&nbsp;

He met and married the love of his life, Eleanor Mae Williams, on July 15, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him on December 5, 2020. They enjoyed 43 yrs together which involved their business, traveling together, going to church, and the greatest love was spending time with family.
