Roxana Rollings went home to be with Jesus and all her family who went before her on Sunday, October 8, 2023.&nbsp; She was born in Wichita, Kansas to Elmer Levi Friedman and Eileen Gladys (Thomas) Friedman.&nbsp; She was raised in the Wichita area where she attended school, graduated and attended college. She retired after many years of working for Creason Corrugating and machinery.

Roxana met the love of her life Herbert Rollings in 1964. They were married on August 31, 1967 and have treasured their 56 years together.&nbsp; They were blessed with two daughters, Tina and Misty. Roxana and Herbert raised their family in the Wichita area where they have remained all these years. Their deep love and devotion was to their family.

She is survived by her husband Herbert, daughters Tina Lubber (Robert) and Misty Kegley (Bob Scott), brother Ronald Friedman, 8 beautiful grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, many other family and friends.

Barbara Kay Keene, 67, passed away October 8, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, with her family by her side. She was born March 20, 1956, in Farmington, NM, the daughter of Melvin and Rosemary Brown Gabehart. A resident of Hutchinson most of her life, she had been a dietary manager for Good Samaritan Society for 22 years and for Golden Plains Nursing Home for 5 years. In 1973 she married Benjamin Vincent. They later divorced and he passed away in 2022. She later married Tony Keene in 1989. He passed away in 2001. Barbara enjoyed playing pool, fishing, loved clowns, and had worked at the Kansas State Fair for over 20 years. She was a liver transplant survivor.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacy (Jason) Sisler, Hutchinson; a brother, Dennis Gabehart, Hutchinson; and 2 grandchildren, Briana Vincent and Davonte Neely.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; and a brother, Alan Gabehart.

A private family burial will take place. A celebration of life come and go will be held from 10-4 on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Ave A building, 13 W. Ave A, Hutchinson. Gerald R. Sweeden, 73, died October 7, 2023, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born January 23, 1950, in Yale, OK. He was a graduate of Russell High School. He had served as a cook in the United States Army for over 20 years. He then worked at Tyson, Deluxe Tank, and Cessna. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and enjoyed reading. On September 23, 1973, he married Karen Hathaway. She died December 27, 2022.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Shawna Williams and DawnEtta (John) Ummel, both of Hutchinson; 3 grandchildren; Jaycee Sweeden, Brandon Ummel, and Katie Ummel, all of Hutchinson; a brother, Alvin Sweeden, Waldon, KS; and 4 sisters, Faye Lamb, Ruth Ann Staley, and Carol Fox, all of Great Bend, and Helen, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and 2 sisters, Kathy Coyle and Sandy Brenson.

Norman F. Tennyson 82 died October 9, 2023, at Newton Medical Center. He was born August 3, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas to David and Vivian (Hanes) Tennyson. On April 6, 1963, he married Sharon Ratzloff at Valley Center, Kansas and she survives of the home.

Norman served his country in the U.S. Army. He was retired as a assembler from Beech Aircraft in Wichita working nearly 38 years.&nbsp; He enjoyed motorcycle riding in his younger years and spending time with his wife driving around the area and exploring. One of his favorite things to do was to drive to breakfast places, he especially enjoyed the Carriage Crossing in Yoder. He was known for leaving $2 bills as tips. Family was important to Norman, and he looked forward to spending time with his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; 2 daughters Monica Spreier and Melissa Tennyson; 1 sister Karen Browning; 2 grandchildren Cameron and Courtney.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Grace Community Church in Newton. Ellen Stucky, 95, of Moundridge, Kansas, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on October 29, 1927 in rural Moundridge, the daughter of Jonas H. and Anna (Kaufman) Vogt.

Between her 8th grade and freshman year, she recognized her need to confess her sins, repent, and ask God for forgiveness. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized and became a member of the Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge.

She graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1946.

Ellen was united in marriage to Alfred Stucky on August 22, 1946 in Moundridge. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2015.

Ellen was a devoted homemaker, assisting Alfred on their farm and at the Central Kansas Hatchery for many years. Ellen taught Bible school and volunteered with the Mary Martha group. Every Friday for several years, Ellen and Alfred would be found folding church bulletins in the Eden Church office.

She is survived by her three sons, Darrell (Jennifer) Stucky of Katy, TX, Harlan (Joyce) Stucky of Richmond, MO, and Timothy (Beverly) Stucky of Hutchinson, KS; sister, Velma (James) Neufeld of Bloomington, MN; five granddaughters, Kimberly (T.J.) Jung, Michelle (Jed) Wolkins, Christine (Chuck) Chapman, Megan Stucky and Kara Stucky; and five great-grandchildren.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and six siblings, Weldon Vogt, Letha Ediger, Marlin Vogt, Kenneth Vogt, Evelyn Goering, and Margie Kaufman.

Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery. Suzanne Brown, 85, died peacefully October 7, 2023, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born January 16, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Kenneth E. and Mercedes E. (Ellis) Sentney.&nbsp;

Suzanne graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1956, and received her bachelor’s degree from Kansas University. &nbsp;She was an active member of the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary, serving as a past president and volunteer coordinator. In addition, Suzanne served on the board for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and was active in Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson.

On December 30, 1961, she married Charles N. Brown, Jr., in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He died October 23, 2011, just a few months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.&nbsp;

Suzanne is survived by: &nbsp;son, Todd Brown (Heather) of Hutchinson; daughter, Heather Holland of Wichita; grandchildren, Bretley Brown (MacKenzi), Easton Brown, Averie Brown, Eric Holland (Leah), Hollyann Schon (Andrew), and Haley Holland; and four great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents and a brother, Kenneth E. Sentney, Jr.

Gary F. Chaffee, age 84, passed away on October 9, 2023.&nbsp; He was born on June 8, 1939 in Newton. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Claudia Rose Justice Chaffee, son Paul and daughter-in-law Shellie Lynn Foulk Chaffee, grand children: Kyle Allan Chaffee and wife Diana, Sgt Caleb Chaffee, and Reagan Chaffee. Great Grandchildren Jasmyne Shelby Chaffee, Ariana Norris Chaffee, Kyle Allan Chaffee Jr., Avery Lynn Brandt and Payton Bailey Kilbourn.&nbsp; He is also survived by brother Myron G. Chaffee and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James F. Chaffee and Lora Norrine Keady Chaffee, son Michael D. Chaffee, brothers James F. Chaffee III and Daniel Kent Chaffee and also by numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

He attended HS in Redondo Beach, CA, and took advantage of the inexpensive college tuition in CA public colleges. He was subsequently hired by the City of Los Angeles to work as a lab technician, performing bacteriological, chemical and radiological testing.

In 1962 he received an invitation to join a Peace Corps project in the San Francisco Valley of Brazil. He was located in the town of Juazeiro in the state of Bahia. Returning from Brazil in late

1963. He enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard not long after returning from Brazil.

He was employed by Kinder Mfg. Co (a Division of Congoleum Corp.) in 1965 in the sales dept. He took a leave of absence when his unit was activated and sent to Ft. Carson, CO.

In 1968 he was deployed to Viet Nam where he was attached to the 173rd&nbsp;Airborne at LZ English and&nbsp; LZ Uplift, which were located along the coast North of Qui Nhon.&nbsp; Later he was attached to the 4th&nbsp;Division near Kon Tum in the central highlands.

When he returned from Viet Nam he resumed his career at Kinder Mfg. in Newton as Sales Manager.&nbsp; In 1970 he was asked to relocate to the Kings Mountain, North Carolina plant as General Manager.&nbsp; He served in that capacity until 1975 when he was asked to return to Newton as the General Manager.&nbsp; In 1986 the Newton plant was closed and he declined an offer to relocate to a plant in Pennsylvania, opting instead to open his own plant in Newton, Lifestyle Interiors.&nbsp; That company reorganized in the mid 90’s and became Heartland Bedding.&nbsp; In 2003 the plant was closed and Gary chose to retire.&nbsp; He worked several part time jobs from his retirement until 2020.

Interests throughout his life were varied.&nbsp; During his time in California he learned to sail and enjoyed it very much.&nbsp; Sailing on the ocean was much different than sailing on windy Kansas lakes though.&nbsp; Genealogy became a passion and he was always researching his family tree.&nbsp; Business trips and vacations gave him the means to take long walks through old cemeteries looking for the grave site of an ancestor that he never met or an opportunity to meet with a long lost cousin or other family member.&nbsp; He was the driving force behind many dinners and get-togethers with distant relatives.&nbsp; He didn’t know a stranger and even into his 70’s would pick up the occasional hitch hiker only because he remembered thumbing his way around Los Angeles in his youth.&nbsp; Gary was a 4th&nbsp;degree member of the Knights of Columbus and truly enjoyed the fellowship that he shared with his brother Knights.&nbsp; He will be missed by many.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton with The Reverend Andrew Bergkamp, Celebrant and The Reverend James Mainzer Con-Celebrant. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Casket will be open at the Church for one hour prior to the Rosary and the family will receive friends following the Rosary in the Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in The Greenwood Cemetery Newton with Military Honors.

Carson, CO.In 1968 he was deployed to Viet Nam where he was attached to the 173rd&nbsp;Airborne at LZ English and&nbsp; LZ Uplift, which were located along the coast North of Qui Nhon.&nbsp; Later he was attached to the 4th&nbsp;Division near Kon Tum in the central highlands.When he returned from Viet Nam he resumed his career at Kinder Mfg. in Newton as Sales Manager.&nbsp; In 1970 he was asked to relocate to the Kings Mountain, North Carolina plant as General Manager.&nbsp; He served in that capacity until 1975 when he was asked to return to Newton as the General Manager.&nbsp; In 1986 the Newton plant was closed and he declined an offer to relocate to a plant in Pennsylvania, opting instead to open his own plant in Newton, Lifestyle Interiors.&nbsp; That company reorganized in the mid 90’s and became Heartland Bedding.&nbsp; In 2003 the plant was closed and Gary chose to retire.&nbsp; He worked several part time jobs from his retirement until 2020.Interests throughout his life were varied.&nbsp; During his time in California he learned to sail and enjoyed it very much.&nbsp; Sailing on the ocean was much different than sailing on windy Kansas lakes though.&nbsp; Genealogy became a passion and he was always researching his family tree.&nbsp; Business trips and vacations gave him the means to take long walks through old cemeteries looking for the grave site of an ancestor that he never met or an opportunity to meet with a long lost cousin or other family member.&nbsp; He was the driving force behind many dinners and get-togethers with distant relatives.&nbsp; He didn’t know a stranger and even into his 70’s would pick up the occasional hitch hiker only because he remembered thumbing his way around Los Angeles in his youth.&nbsp; Gary was a 4th&nbsp;degree member of the Knights of Columbus and truly enjoyed the fellowship that he shared with his brother Knights.&nbsp; He will be missed by many.Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton with The Reverend Andrew Bergkamp, Celebrant and The Reverend James Mainzer Con-Celebrant. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Casket will be open at the Church for one hour prior to the Rosary and the family will receive friends following the Rosary in the Church Parish Hall. Wayne Edward Venso, 78, of Newton, Kansas, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

He was born in Newton, Kansas on April 11, 1945, to Neil &amp; Myrtle (Theander) Venso, and spent his entire life serving his community of friends. Wayne attended Newton Public Schools before graduating from barber college followed by a career of 59 years cutting hair, giving away donuts, and telling the worst jokes.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father Neil, mother Myrtle, sister Virginia Soyez, and brother-in-law Donald Keasling, and is survived by his loving wife, Brenda and their fur baby Cheyenne, his son, Mikall (Tami Goldman), daughter Melisha Corbus (Michael Corbus), sister Marjorie Keasling, and brother-in-law, Joe Soyez, as well as eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Celebration will be held Monday, October 9, 2023, from 3 to 6 pm at Salem United Methodist Church, 115 Old Main St, Newton, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the National Park Foundation.

Our hearts are heavy at the peaceful passing of our father “Gene” (Papa) Orville Eugene Titus on September 29, 2023 at the age of 92. He was a loyal, caring father. He had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Newton Kansas where he was born and still lived.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann (Dorey) Titus of 55 yrs, his grandson Uriah Job Titus, his great granddaughter Kilar Rain Gillispie, his father Orville F. Titus and mother Opal (McFarlane) Titus.&nbsp;

He leaves behind his wife of 16 years Trudy (Anderson) Titus.&nbsp;He also leaves behind his 3 sons, Bill Titus of Newton, John (Margie) Titus of Newton, Robb (Mary Beth) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, 9 grandchildren, Thain Titus, Cree (Josh) Gillispie, Maisha (Lance) Dible, Season (James) Lentz, Starla (Jared Schmitz) Titus, Jasmine (Ian Schmidt) Titus, Lena (Carl) Edwards, Taylor Titus, Spencer Titus, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, brother Michael Fry, sister Michelle Cloud and several nephews and nieces.

Gene owned and worked at Gene’s Shoes on Main St. in Newton for over 40 years, helping people by letting them do layaways and payment plans. He sold many steel toed boots to the railroad workers and he gave shoe boxes for the Christmas goodies that went to the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.&nbsp;

He welcomed neighborhood kids and foster children into their home on Pine St. for many years.

He designed and built his own home in the country, which was a beautiful place where he loved having his family and friends come and gather.&nbsp;He loved to fish, boat and ski. He was a very active sports enthusiast and coached his sons many baseball and basketball teams. He also played, managed and sponsored Gene’s Shoes slow pitch softball teams for many years. He participated in bowling, basketball and softball well into his 50's and 60's. His love of sports started in school where his Newton High basketball team won the state championship in 1949.&nbsp;

The family will have a gathering/celebration of life for anyone that would like to pay their respects, at The Chapel at Paramount Community Living Center, (corner of S. Poplar and SW 14th) 1:00-3:00, November 12th.

Nadine M. Unruh, 89, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at Newton Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1934 in rural Galva, the daughter of Ervin and Adeline (Nightingale) Becker.

Nadine was united in marriage to Robert D. Unruh on November 30, 1952 at Lone Tree Mennonite Church. He passed away February 4, 2010.

Nadine was a homemaker. She was a member of Gospel Mennonite Church.

Nadine is survived by two sons, Jim (Sherril) Unruh and Russell (Janet) Unruh all of Moundridge; three daughters, Nevelyn (Ronnie) Mastre of Del Norte, Colorado, Nancy (Doug) Unruh of Halstead, and Jennifer (Verlynn) Koehn of Galva; brother, John Becker of Hesston; sisters, Wilma Nightingale and Deola Wenger, both of Moundridge, and Judy (Harold) Koehn of Montezuma; 20 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one brother; and three sisters.

&nbsp; Leonard Eugene Wallsten, born November 24, 1937, in Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully October 5, 2023 in Buhler, Kansas.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Minnie Wallsten, daughter, Judith Ann Lazenby, and sister, Marilyn Avery.

He is survived by his son, Mike (Jean Ann) Wallsten, daughter, Deanna Cook, brother, Jim (Mary) Wallsten, grandchildren, Billy (Jackie) Lazenby, Ashley (Ray) Lazenby, Valerie (Kyle) Osborn, Caleb (Maddie) Cook, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Leonard was a lifelong resident of Hutchinson, Kansas. He served in the army for many years, becoming a welder foreman at Farmland after discharging. He started his own trucking company in 1972, where he stayed until retirement.

Leonard was an avid gardener and loved being outside. He was quiet, but always hard working. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his family, including his pets, and spoiling grandkids.&nbsp;

Carole Reinhart, 84, died September 24, 2023, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born December 31, 1938, in Enid, OK, the daughter of Joe Cariker and Hazel Foster. She was a 1956 graduate of Enid High School. A Hutchinson resident since 1969, she worked at Dillon Credit Union for 31 years in many different roles, including their first female loan officer, retiring in 1998. She ran her own daycare from 2010 – 2019, caring for and loving many more children.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jim Reinhart of Hutchinson in 2010.

She is survived by her son Gerry Reinhart of Puyallup, Washington; as well as three grandsons, James, Tom, and Matt Reinhart; and 5 great grandchildren Jessi, Jax, Kolyn, Rowen, and Ava Reinhart.

Burl ‘Butch’ Brown, Jr., died September 23, 2023, at Medicalodges, Goddard, KS. He was born September 2, 1946, in Hawthorne, CA, to Burl William Brown, Sr., and Marie Irene Edna (Poirier) Brown. &nbsp;Butch married Patricia Lynn (Stutesman) Hunt in Nickerson, KS. &nbsp;She died June 23, 2014. &nbsp;He enjoyed being outside working on the lawn, doing mechanic work, and fixing things.&nbsp;

Butch joined the United States Navy in 1964 and was honorably discharged after serving five years. &nbsp;He was a Special Ops, Fireman Marine and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. &nbsp;After leaving the military, Butch worked for General Electric as a mechanic and welder. &nbsp;He also worked for Reno County repairing roads and bridges. &nbsp;Butch then became a foster parent at the end of his career. &nbsp;He had a passion for being a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd Degree and Kansas York Rite for more than fourteen years.

Butch is survived by: &nbsp;his daughter, Katie Ladewig; granddaughter, Rachel Stacy; sons, Howard, James, and Larry Rakestraw; and daughter, Stephanie Brown.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; sister, Anna Marie Brown; and daughter, Arlena Rakestraw.

Private services are planned. &nbsp;Cremation has taken place.

Mary Jeannette Farley, 92, died October 3, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born December 22, 1930, in Plains, KS, to Paul A. Myers and Carrie Inez (Malone) Myers.

Mary was a 1948 graduate of Plains High School, Plains, KS. &nbsp;She received an Associates Degree from Fort Hays State University in 1950. &nbsp;Mary worked as a dental assistant for several dental offices in the Hutchinson area.

She was an artist and enjoyed painting and reading. &nbsp;Mary was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, KS.

On August 17, 1950, she married James ‘Jim’ Doyle Farley in Plains, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 50 years of marriage prior to his death on October 27, 2000.

Mary is survived by: &nbsp;her children, Michael (Pauline) Farley of Tampa, FL, Shelley Wood of Ardmore, OK, Terry (Maria) Farley of Terrebonne, OR, John (Camille) Farley of Hutchinson, KS, and David Farley of Overland Park, KS; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; sons, Kevin Farley and Curt Farley; three sisters; and four brothers.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Boulevard, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Gene Sundquist, 85, of Inman, KS, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2023, after battling dementia in recent years. He was born on March 20, 1938, in Lindsborg, Kansas, the son of Malcom and Doris (Nelson) Sundquist and was deeply proud of his Swedish heritage.

He graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1956 and spent many years farming with his father after attending North Park University in Chicago, IL. Gene was a “jack of many trades” — talented at carpentry, welding, and mechanics. He raced stock cars, was an exceptional billiards player, had a beautiful singing voice, gave the best hugs, and loved country music and John Wayne movies. His best friends were his many Yellow Labrador Retrievers.

Gene was united in marriage to LaVona Hutchins in Miami, OK on February 22, 1979. During their marriage they spent many years cattle ranching prior to becoming business owners of Blue Bluff Harbor Resort on Grand Lake in Grove, OK for 25 years. In retirement they moved to Hutchinson, KS until spending their last years together in Inman, KS.

Gene was blessed to have a large and loving family. He is survived by his wife LaVona of 44 years, his daughters Terri Rodriguez, Lori Peryer, Julie Gray and Carie Alvi and his stepchildren Don &amp; Laurie Hutchins, Kim &amp; Gene Wilkens, and Lisa &amp; Gary Howard. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with one more on the way. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Jan Sundquist.

We will miss him so dearly, find comfort in our cherished memories and be glad for another guardian angel in heaven.

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Lindsborg, KS in 2024 and will be announced at a later date. James "Jimmy" Corfman, age 64, passed away on October 2, 2023 in Wichita, Ks.

Jimmy began his life in Salina KS and was born August 22, 1959 to Roy Dean &amp; Roberta (Dunn) Corfman.&nbsp; He moved with the family to the farm near Whitewater KS and graduated from Remington High School in 1977.&nbsp; Most recently, Jimmy was employed as &nbsp;a truck driver which allowed him to travel to many states.&nbsp; &nbsp;He enjoyed seeing the country and stopping to shop at thrift stores etc. looking for unexpected treasures.&nbsp; Jimmy had a great interest in depression era glassware and could remember patterns, makers and the years produced from memory only.&nbsp; He attended The First United Methodist Church in Wichita and made several close friends there.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Jimmy is survived by his brother Gene, sister Jolene (Miles) Erpelding, Stepmother Arlene Corfman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Linda Deen Weesner.

Gaylon Lee Plenert, 69, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at his home.&nbsp;

Gaylon was born on September 29, 1954, in Goessel, KS, the son of Charles Lee and Jenny Lee (Unruh) Plenert.&nbsp; He attended school in Hillsboro, KS.

He was a member of Wheatland Baptist Church, McPherson and was an artist for The Clayworks at Disability Supports.

Survivors include: his mother, Jenny Plenert of McPherson, KS; a brother, Greg (Robin) Plenert of Hillsboro, KS; nephew, Dusten (Danielle) Plenert of Hillsboro, KS; niece, Callie Plenert of Hillsboro, KS; numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles; and dear friend, Nancy (Gene) Shockley of Wichita, KS.

Gaylon will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Wheatland Baptist Church, McPherson, with Pastor Brian Ernsberger officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Jeremy David “J.J.” Johnson, 35, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023. He was born on September 24, 1988 in Brighton, Colorado to David R. and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Johnson.

J.J. graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 2007. He later attended the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Arizona.

J.J. had worked at Pfizer in McPherson for 10 years.

He enjoyed spending his time riding motorcycles, working on computers and gaming. Above all, J.J. loved spending time with his son, Jackson.

J.J. is survived by his son, Jackson Ray Johnson, of Wichita; mother, Liz Johnson of Moundridge; brother, Brent (Stephanie) Johnson of Aurora, CO and their children, Treyton, Zane, and Warner; sisters, Deanna Johnson (Mike Halbert) of Aurora, CO and their son, Dylan, and Megan Hill of Moundridge and her children, Brylie and Braylan. He is also survived by his very close friends, Jordin Smith, Steven Blaylock, Nate Martens, and Zach Vytlacil; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, David R. Johnson; maternal grandparents, Walter and Amy Mitchell; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Marlene Johnson; and uncles, Ed Mitchell, Joseph Mitchell, and Ted Bethell.

Guinn “Dale” Cochran, passed on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023, peacefully in his home in Bel Aire, Kansas.&nbsp; He&nbsp;was born December 5th, 1938, in Union City, Tennessee to Leland Guinn Cochran and Emma Lou Cook.&nbsp;

Dale served in the Navy from 1955 until retirement in 1976. In 1977, Dale married Lois Carnell Wilson. After retiring from the Navy, Dale worked in the nuclear industry as an Industrial Radiographer until retiring from Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation in Burlington, KS.&nbsp;

He enjoyed many hobbies but took special interest in gardening, woodworking, collecting tools, and fishing. Dale loved music and accumulated an impressive collection of records. &nbsp;Dale was also known to be pretty savvy with a pool stick.&nbsp;

Dale is preceded in death by his wife Lois Cochran, parents Leland Guinn Cochran and Emma Lou Cook, siblings Peggy Dasher, son Roger Stayton and grandchildren Bryan and Jesse Donovan.

Survived by children Mitchell, Lonnie, Jesse, Yvonne and Scott, sister Betty Lou Tucker, brother Robert Lee Cochran,&nbsp; 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, many other family and friends.

David Lyle Barb, 71, died September 25, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita, KS. &nbsp;He was born December 20, 1951, in Hutchinson, KS, to David Pat Barb and Roberta Arlene (Goertzen) Barb.

David was a graduate of the Kansas School for the Deaf, Olathe, KS. &nbsp;He was employed as a hydraulic tester at Eaton Corporation, formerly Cessna Power Fluid Division, Hutchinson, KS, retiring with 37 years of service.

David was a big deal to a lot of people. He had many inside jokes with coworkers and made everyone smile. He looked forward to the pranks, teasing, and making his siblings and cousins laugh with his orneriness. In early years he got a kick out of seeing family and friends laugh and scream from chasing them with bugs and pranking them with other shenanigans. &nbsp;

David was a proud member of Hutchinson Association of the Deaf. &nbsp;He was known for many years as ‘Deaf Santa’, bringing joy to the Deaf children. &nbsp;He brought awareness of the Deaf community and was a huge advocate for teaching others sign language.&nbsp;

As years went by, David became involved with the Family Children's Theater being in over 15 plays. His favorite being Harpo Marx where he played Harpo Marx himself. It became a family event doing plays with his mother, nieces, and daughter. &nbsp;Babes in Toyland and Charlotte's Web were two of the favorites that the whole Barb Family were involved with. &nbsp;

When David retired, he became active in the South-Central Association of the Deaf, traveling to Newton monthly and attending Deaf Expos all over the states. &nbsp;In his retirement, he got to spend a lot of time with both his grandchildren who were special to him in different ways. Grandson Parker and David would get a kick out of joking and pranking each other and to prank Kristin, David's daughter. Granddaughter Aly always had tea parties making potions out of marbles that were always there for her to play with in the living room. David would often "listen" to the music that they played on instruments and would pipe in on a song or two with his own flute or drums. &nbsp;

David was a best friend, mentor, coworker, brother, uncle, grandpa and dad. &nbsp;The best Daddy one could ask for. &nbsp;Anybody who met him has many stories and I believe were truly blessed to get to know him. &nbsp;

David is survived by: &nbsp;his daughter, Kristin (John Bryan) Martinez of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, John Parker and Alysandra Kiyomi; sister, Dianne (John) Bogle of Hutchinson, KS; brother, Tim (Bobbi) Barb of Wichita, KS; nieces, Angela Cochran, Lisa Bogle, Kendra Bogle, and Brittany (Cory) Bynum; nephews, Trevor (Brittany) Barb and Corbin Barb; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; sister, Leslynn Cochran; numerous aunt and uncles; and the mother of Kristin, Rita Riyoko.

In early years he got a kick out of seeing family and friends laugh and scream from chasing them with bugs and pranking them with other shenanigans. &nbsp;David was a proud member of Hutchinson Association of the Deaf. &nbsp;He was known for many years as ‘Deaf Santa’, bringing joy to the Deaf children. &nbsp;He brought awareness of the Deaf community and was a huge advocate for teaching others sign language.&nbsp;As years went by, David became involved with the Family Children's Theater being in over 15 plays. His favorite being Harpo Marx where he played Harpo Marx himself. It became a family event doing plays with his mother, nieces, and daughter. &nbsp;Babes in Toyland and Charlotte's Web were two of the favorites that the whole Barb Family were involved with. &nbsp;When David retired, he became active in the South-Central Association of the Deaf, traveling to Newton monthly and attending Deaf Expos all over the states. &nbsp;In his retirement, he got to spend a lot of time with both his grandchildren who were special to him in different ways. Grandson Parker and David would get a kick out of joking and pranking each other and to prank Kristin, David's daughter. Granddaughter Aly always had tea parties making potions out of marbles that were always there for her to play with in the living room. Ronald Kay Guinn, 80, of &nbsp;Valley Center Kansas went to be with our Lord on Saturday September 30, 2023 at Newton Medical Center, Newton Kansas. &nbsp;He was born August 11, 1943 in Dodge City Kansas to proud parents Ray and Audrey (Madaus) Guinn. &nbsp;Ron was a 1961 graduate from Bucklin High School, Bucklin Kansas. &nbsp;He attended Fort Hays State, St Mary's of the Plain College, Texas A&amp;M, and achieved a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University.&nbsp;

After graduation Ron began his engineering career at Field Queen Corporation, and happily retired from his career at Hesston Corp/Agco in Hesston, Kansas. &nbsp;Ron's work as an engineer was instrumental in designing and testing various farm equipment such as combines that could adjust to various types of wheat in various countries. His work blessed him with the ability to travel to Canada, South America and France displaying his craftsmanship.&nbsp;

Nov 20,1970, Ron's twin sister Carol Raye Fields passed away leaving behind 2 little girls. Ron raised Tammi and Lori like his own, stepping in as a father and giving them anything they would ever need to prosper in this world. Even as they grew to adults, Ron's care for his two girls and their children never faltered. He raised two wonderful ladies who stood by him at his final moments to say goodbye.&nbsp;

On October 24, 1986 he married Kathryn Cudo Yeahquo. He spent 36 yrs with the only woman he ever loved, displaying a beautiful, loving, time tested marriage to all until she passed on January 31 2023.

Ron loved people and never met a stranger. In most any setting Ron was in, he would manage to find a baby to get his hands on and sit quietly holding them.. Ron loved children as Jesus did. But his most enjoyment was teaching them about Jesus. He also had a great knack for entertaining them with his jokes and fun games. Up until his last day he would be running around with his great great nieces all over the property.&nbsp;

Ron loved to live life to the absolute fullest. He had a passion for scuba diving and skydiving with over a thousand jumps under his belt. He was a wonderful philanthropist. Even with all that he had going on through life, he still made time to take at least 75 mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala and Jamaica, to spread the word and love of our God while building homes for the less fortunate. His passion for community service was so powerful it attracted many to go and serve with him. Many of them still make these trips to this day.&nbsp;

However, Ron’s greatest love was that of His Lord. &nbsp;He led his life as a faithful and loving servant to God throughout his life, never waving on his faith and now he is receiving his gift of eternal life in the Almighty's kingdom. He was a member of the Valley Center Christian Church, Valley Center KS where he served as an Elder. &nbsp;

Ron is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Audrey Guinn, sisters Evelyn Brown, Dorothy Guinn and Carol Raye Fields and brother Kenneth Ray Guinn.

He is survived by his two daughters Tammi Birney of Sedgwick KS and Lori Gariss and husband Kevin of Catoosa OK along with a host of great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who looked to Ron like a grandfather.&nbsp;

Memorials may be designated in his memory to Valley Center Christian Church for Casa Por Cristo mission trips.

Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Valley Center Christian Church, 1801 E. 5th St. N., Valley Center, Kansas. Graveside burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville, Kansas. &nbsp;

Linda Louise (Hawkins) Miller, 75, of McPherson, KS, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated teacher, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, surrounded by family at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO.&nbsp; She touched the lives of many with her kindness and love.

Born on February 24, 1948, in Carrollton, MO, to Lawrence Lee and Louise (Sanger) Hawkins, Linda dedicated her life to nurturing the minds of countless students during her career as a teacher.&nbsp; Her commitment to education not only left a lasting impact on her students but also served as an inspiration to her four children, whom she lovingly raised.&nbsp;

Linda graduated from Stet County High School in Missouri and McPherson College.&nbsp; She was a Home Economics teacher, daycare provider, staff trainer at MCDS, and CMA and CNA at The Cedars.

Outside the classroom, Linda found solace in her garden and the art of sewing.&nbsp; Her green thumb brought color and joy to any yard she could, reflecting her love for nature’s beauty.&nbsp; Her skillful hands created countless cherished garments, quilts, and crafts, leaving a legacy of her creative spirit.&nbsp; Music filled Linda’s home, as she graced the piano with her talent.&nbsp; She had a deep appreciation for classical music, and enjoyed singing at her local Church of the Brethren.&nbsp; Her love for music has been passed down through the generations, leaving an indelible mark on her family.&nbsp; Linda was not only a devoted mother but also a loving grandmother to five adoring grandchildren.&nbsp; Her warmth and wisdom will live on in their hearts as they carry her legacy forward.&nbsp; She leaves behind cherished memories and a profound impact on her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched throughout her life.

Linda Miller will be remembered for her unwavering love, her dedication to education, her green thumb, her musical talents, and her enduring presence in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include: four children, Monica Miller of McPherson, KS, Preston Miller (Becky Manda) of Durham, NC, Heather Curle (Lee) of Goddard, KS, and Ryan Miller of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren, Audrey Miller, Abigail “Avik” Miller, Allison Blandin, Hailee Curle, and Alex Miller; siblings, Larry Hawkins (Kathy) of Carrollton, MO and LaRue Hawkins (Mary) of Carrollton, MO; and the community she lived and served in.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held in her birth month of February in 2024 at the McPherson Church of the Brethren with Rev. Kathryn Whitacre and Rev. Jerry Bowen officiating.&nbsp;
