Donna Louise Anderson, 87, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 10, 2023, surrounded by family and a very special friend. &nbsp;She was born May 31, 1936, in Parsons, KS, to James and Elsie (Neagle) Standley.

In 1954, Donna graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont, KS. &nbsp;She was the owner and operator of the ‘B Beautiful Salon,’ retiring with many years of service. &nbsp;Donna was loved by everyone.

She married George King in 1954 in Dennis, KS, and together they had two sons. &nbsp;In 1998, Donna married Randolph ‘Ranny’ Anderson.

Donna is survived by: &nbsp;her husband, Ranny Anderson of Hutchinson; sons, Richard King and Ronald (Brenda) King, both of Hutchinson, KS; grandson Ryan (Grace) King of Hutchinson, KS; granddaughter, Amanda (Mathieu) Graber of Wichita; stepsons, Roy (Dawnell) Anderson of Hutchinson, KS, and Kyle Anderson of Wichita, KS; nephew Steve (Donna) Standley of Wichita, KS; a great-nephew; a great-niece; and numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; a brother; a sister-in-law; a nephew; and two infant granddaughters.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Calvary Chapel Church, 1400 N. Adams, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Luke Helmuth officiating. &nbsp;A private burial will be at the New Gottland Cemetery in McPherson, KS. &nbsp;

Douglas Duane “Doug” Cook, of Hutchinson, Kansas, died peacefully on June 27, 2023. Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend who will be missed by many. &nbsp;He was born in a stone house in Carneiro, Kansas in 1932, and moved to Hutchinson when he was 10 years old. In the interim, his family moved to Oatman, Arizona where his father worked in a gold mine for four years during the Depression.&nbsp;

Doug met his best friend and the love of his life, Carol Lee Herr, from Great Bend, at a bar in Hutchinson in 1952. They married soon after and had two daughters, Melinda and Kim. Their lives in Hutchinson were extremely full, thanks to the many friendships they had over the more than 70 years they called it home together. From Friday night dinners at The Anchor Inn, quarter games of pool, working every September at the Kansas State Fair, and to countless moments with friends in between, Doug and Carol thoroughly enjoyed each other and others loved to be in their presence.&nbsp;

Doug loved cars, trucks, motorcycles, go-karts, tractors and anything else with an engine. He bought his first car at age 16, and then had to learn to drive it. &nbsp;Doug was a member of the Prairie Pups Motorcycle Club for many years, participating in Motocross and some wonderful road trips with his friends. Carol accompanied him on some of those trips, including a 2-week motorcycle trip through Mexico in 1974. Neither Doug nor Carol spoke a word of Spanish, but they somehow managed to get their motorcycle repaired when it broke down and were able to make their way back to Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Work was important to Doug, and he inspired many others with his work ethic. He was proud to report that he had held 24 jobs in his life, starting with delivering prescriptions on his bicycle for the Peter Rabbit Delivery Service in Hutchinson at age 10. Doug eventually joined Lowen Corporation where he worked for 53 years, including several years as Senior VP. &nbsp; He felt blessed by the many relationships he developed while working at Lowen’s. During Doug’s time at Lowen’s, he hired and mentored many young people who became lifelong friends. He loved to give young people a chance, and they, in turn, worked hard to follow the example he set for them. Doug always worked hard to do his best at any job he undertook, and prided himself on doing a job correctly, and to the best of his ability.&nbsp;

After retirement, Doug took care of Carol during her long illness and concentrated on the many projects waiting for him in one of his several garages. &nbsp;He also enjoyed visiting estate sales where he bought many ‘good bargains’, eventually accumulating 130 shovels and 98 hammers that were “just too good to pass up”.&nbsp;

Doug also excelled as a grandfather. He loved to do projects with each of his grandchildren, and was always interested in their many activities, whether in Topeka, Austin, Fort Collins, or Boise. Doug was known to show up in Topeka, ready to build a pergola for Cook, Caleb, and Grace, or to build a clubhouse for Grant and Hale in Austin over a Thanksgiving weekend. His grandchildren treasure their many memories of time with their grandfather.&nbsp;

Doug is survived by: his two daughters and their husbands, Melinda McMichael (James) and Kim Jones (Clif); grandchildren, Amy McMichael Paddock (Richard), Grant McMichael, Hale McMichael (Rebecca Thrower), Cook Jones (Jaci Kettler), Caleb Jones (Marie), Grace Jones (Aaron Mohr); and great-grandchildren, Luke Paddock, Hayes Paddock, Liam McMichael, Lawrence McMichael, Maggie Jones, Robbie Jones, August Mohr, Vivienne Mohr, and one on the way. He was also close to and treasured his relationships with his many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;Doug was preceded in death by: his wife, Carol Lee Herr Cook; brother, Loren Cook; and sister, Norma Hayes.&nbsp;

A family graveside service at Memorial Park is planned, followed by a memorial service to honor Doug at the First Congregational Church, 3401 N. Plum Street, Hutchinson on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Sharon Lea Fowler, 78, died August 9, 2023, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born June 13, 1945, in Dodge City, to Carl and Eleanor Maree (Hink) Hickey.

Sharon worked for various companies. &nbsp;Later in life, she received her Commercial Driver’s License. &nbsp;Sharon was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On May 4, 1967, she married James William Fowler, in Dodge City. &nbsp;He died May 22, 2013, after they shared 46 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Sharon is survived by: &nbsp;daughter, Jodi Fowler of Hutchinson; son, Dr. Jim Fowler (Edwana) of North Dakota; grandchildren, Jessica Weiss (Brian Jr.) of Colorado and Anthony Wilkinson “J.R.” (Megan) of Hutchinson; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her brothers, Donald Hickey and Ronald Hickey; son, Monty Fowler; and grandson, Terry Fowler.

Private graveside service will take place at Fort Dodge Veterans’ Cemetery, Dodge City. Cremation has taken place.

In memory of Steven Dennis Moore, also known as Steve, Dad, and Grandpa, who passed away in Hutchinson, KS on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 6:03 A.M., 2 months after his 75th birthday.

Steve was born on June 6, 1948 in Hutchinson, KS. His parents were Otto David Moore and Marian Altabell Patten-Moore, the youngest of 8 siblings: Wesley, Beverly, Eugene, Connie, Allan, Kermit, and Patricia (all deceased).

He was married to Roxyanne Starner in Hutchinson and had two amazing children, Penny and Dustin. Steve graduated from Haven High School and enjoyed spending his time fishing and racing. Achievements include being a standout dad and grandpa.

Steve is survived by his wife, Roxy; daughter, Penny and husband Robbie; son, Dustin and wife Angel; as well as 6 grandkids: Steven and wife Tiara, Robbie S. and wife Allie, Derek and Penny, Nikki, Gavin, Baby Jake; and 4.5 great grandkids. And of course, his beloved pets, Duke and Munchkin Moore.

Marianne Redinger, 95, of Red Rock, Texas, died August 6, 2023, at Buda Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care, Buda, Texas. She was born on April 22, 1928, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Daniel and Hazel Edna (Brooks) Cavanaugh.

Marianne was an assembler for EATON Corporation in Hutchinson for 27 years. She was a parish member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bastrop, Texas and Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Marianne married Cecil Redinger on June 11, 1948, in Hutchinson. He died December 28, 2007. Survivors include her children, Marsha Ireland and husband Edwin of Red Rock, TX, and Sharon Anderson and husband Sheldon of Little River; grandchildren, Scott Anderson, Shaun Hicks, Michelle May, Megan Villagomez, Michael Ireland, Meredith Gonzales, and Cody Ireland; several great-grandchildren; step sister, Rae Anne Del Pozzo, California; step brother, David Anthony Riccardo, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Effie Cavanaugh; sister, Colleen Armbruster; and step-sisters, Carma Lee Karstens and Trudy Warren. Margaret Dee Ann England, 80, died August 8, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born February 9, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Robert and Maxine (Bramley) England.

Margaret graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961 and then from University of Nebraska in Omaha with a degree in construction engineering. She retired from Reno County Public Works. Margaret loved her family and spending time with them. She loved all animals, especially cats.

Margaret is survived by: sisters, Beverly Stauffer, Jane Yunker, Debbie Beougher, all of Hutchinson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside service will be 2 pm Monday, August 14, 2023, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Huntsville. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 5pm Friday and Saturday or from 1 to 8 Sunday with family present from 5 to 7 pm at Elliott Mortuary.

Margaret Dee Ann England |1943-2023|

Gary was born to Darwin and Lois Buck on September 28th, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved to Wichita when he was 9, graduating from East High in 1968. 

He attended Wichita State University, where he earned a master’s degree in anthropology and bachelor’s degree in psychology. He was also a founding father of the Beta Iota chapter of the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. He later moved to northern Idaho for 7 years where he was employed as an archaeologist until he sought a career change as a teacher. He attended the University of Idaho, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in science and education, majoring in history.

Gary started his teaching career in 1990 at Buhler High School before coming to Wichita Public Schools in 1992, where he taught at Hadley, Mayberry, East and Northeast Magnet before retiring in 2011. He taught social studies and was a special education facilitator.

As a substitute, he taught at Jardine, Mayberry Middle School, Northeast Magnet, and Southeast High.

Gary enjoyed archaeology, cars, rock concerts, college sports, gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his friends and family. He encouraged people to be who they are, and inspired countless students.

Survived by his wife Annette Buck, daughter Heidi Buck, sons Alex Buck and Cody Buck (Christine), grandson Dylan Buck, granddaughter Isabella Smickenbecker and nephew Kevin Stowe, many other family and friends.

 </figure>Gary was born to Darwin and Lois Buck on September 28th, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved to Wichita when he was 9, graduating from East High in 1968. He attended Wichita State University, where he earned a master’s degree in anthropology and bachelor’s degree in psychology. He was also a founding father of the Beta Iota chapter of the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. He later moved to northern Idaho for 7 years where he was employed as an archaeologist until he sought a career change as a teacher. He attended the University of Idaho, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in science and education, majoring in history.Gary started his teaching career in 1990 at Buhler High School before coming to Wichita Public Schools in 1992, where he taught at Hadley, Mayberry, East and Northeast Magnet before retiring in 2011. He taught social studies and was a special education facilitator.As a substitute, he taught at Jardine, Mayberry Middle School, Northeast Magnet, and Southeast High.Gary enjoyed archaeology, cars, rock concerts, college sports, gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents, two siblings and son Michael.&nbsp; Lena is survived by her children James Hollaway Jr (Donna) of Wichita, Debra Jarvis and Nancy Jackson (Rayland) both of Sedgwick, Sherri Hess (Doug) of Valley Center, Kansas; sister Josie Busch of Fall River, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, many other family and friends.

Wayne Archie Nobbs, Jr., 86, of Hutchinson, died August 7, 2023, at Hospice House. He was born August 27, 1936, in Wichita, to Wayne Archie and Audrey Ann (Lauchland) Nobbs, Sr.

Wayne graduated from Wichita East High School in 1955 and attended Wichita State University. He started working in the aircraft industry and then worked as a mechanical engineer for various companies, designing the Titan missile, cattle feeders, irrigation systems, motor homes, foundry equipment, amusement rides and handicap accessibility ramps for Motorized Trolley Cars, until he retired from Chance Coach. Wayne loved working to restore his antique truck, working in his garage, and being outside in the yard. But his passion was service to others, singing in church choirs, and he felt his real purpose was to share his faith and God's word with everyone he met.

Wayne was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

On September 4, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Huffmaster, in Wichita. They shared nearly 64 years of marriage before her death on February 5, 2019.

Wayne is survived by: his children, Debra Snyder (Mike) of Fort Worth, TX, Kevin Nobbs (Brenda) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Brandon Nobbs (Jessica), Lacey Herren (Jason), Heather Snyder, Patrick Snyder (Jess), Tarin Farmer (Anthony), Morgan Braundmeier (Aaron), Trevor Nobbs, Brett Nobbs, Rachel Ratliff, Peggy Israel; 14 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Allison Branson; son, David; and two great-granddaughters.

Martha Barnhardt, beloved wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, died Friday, August 4, 2023 at Hill Top House, Bucklin.

She was born June 27, 1935 in Syracuse, Kansas, the daughter of Alfred and Edna (Lesh) Collingwood. She grew up in Johnson, Kansas and graduated from Johnson High School. She attended Baker University for three years and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Physical Therapy. On July 20, 1958 she married Robert Gordon Barnhardt, Jr. in Johnson, Kansas. Upon the birth of their first child, she made the decision to quit her much-loved job at the physical therapy department on the KU campus to become a full-time wife and mother.

Martha was a gentle, loving, wise and patient person and also an avid believer in serving and supporting the Bucklin community upon moving there in 1971. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, 4-H Community and Project Leader, Director of the Farmers State Bank of Bucklin, founding member and Treasurer of the Bucklin Community Better Life Foundation, past President of the USD 459 School Board, past Board Chair of the Bucklin Hospital District, Director of the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas, and Director of Collingwood Grain. She loved playing duplicate bridge with her friends at the Dodge City Senior Center and party bridge at the Bucklin Senior Center, cheering for the Chiefs and Jayhawks, gardening, cooking and, in her younger years, bowling and sewing.

Survivors include: Her husband of 65 years, Robert Gordon Barnhardt, Jr., five children, Brenda Pace (Dan) of Pretty Prairie, Kansas; Rebecca Barnhardt of Bucklin, Kansas; Roger Barnhardt (Stacey) of Lakin, Kansas; Bob Barnhardt (Beth) of Durango, Colorado; and John Barnhardt (Janese) of Nixa, Missouri; a sister, Cynthia Saunders of Gillette, Wyoming; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edna Collingwood; a sister, Mary Clawson; a brother, John Collingwood; and two great-grandsons, Carson and James Barnhardt.

Luella I. Ratzlaff, 93, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Moundridge Manor. She was born June 27, 1930 in Montezuma, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse H. and Minnie (Ratzlaff) Jantz.

Luella was a member of the Lone Tree Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Galva.

She was united in marriage to Gilmer E. Ratzlaff on May 2, 1954 in Fredonia.

She is survived by her two sons, Dalen (Debra) Ratzlaff of Guntersville, AL, and Lyndon Ratzlaff of McPherson; daughter, Kim (Stan) Ratzlaff of Canton; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (June) Jantz of Neodesha; sisters, LaVerda (Milton) Boehs of Lakin, and Marilyn (Gaylord) Schmidt of Galva; brother-in-law, Marvin (Karen) Ratzlaff of Newton; and sisters-in-law, Doris (Bob) Wilson of Gentry, AR, and Alverta Ratzlaff of Moundridge.

Betty Lou Preston passed peacefully at the age of 93 on August 4, 2023 at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 29, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Roy Edward and Lillian Jane (Evans) Lyen.

Betty attended Hutchinson High School. She went on to College of Cosmetology in Dodge City. She was a beautician and owned her own shop in Hutchinson.

In her spare time, she loved to attend her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s ball games, barbecue’s, family gatherings and holidays. Betty also enjoyed ceramics, flowers, and playing cards, especially 5 Point Pitch. She was a fan of Royals baseball. Betty was very knowledgeable about the game and even had her favorite players. In addition, she was an avid bird watcher; she knew the different species of birds, what to feed them, and how to keep them coming. Upon her retirement, she and her husband became “winter Texans” traveling and staying in Crooked Tree and Harlingen, TX with her sister-in-law, brother-in-law and several friends.

Betty was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She was a member of several circles working mainly on projects for the blind.

On February 1, 1951, she married William Franklin Preston in Hutchinson. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage.

Betty is survived by: her husband, William ‘Bill’ Preston of Hutchinson; children, Janice Preston of Haven, Jim (Beth) Preston of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jeff (Callie) Brawner of Burrton, Matt (Amber) Brawner of Burrton, Amy (Jack) Conkling of Hutchinson, and Andy (Emily) Preston of Bel Aire; great-grandchildren, Bailey (Kendell) Born of Hutchinson, Brooke Brawner of Hutchinson, Brie, Avery, Cole, and Lyndi Brawner all of Burrton, Mackie and Brax Conkling of Hutchinson, and Paisley, Reese, and Blair Preston, all of Bel Aire; great-great-grandson, Stetson Born of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law, David (Shirley) Preston of Lake Jackson, TX and Rick (Betty) Preston of Virginia Beach, VA; and many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Susana Barron, 61, died August 7, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born March 27, 1962, in Lubbock, TX, to Cresencio Escobedo and Sulema (Leal) Barron.

For over eight years, Susana was an office administrator for Angels Care Home Health. &nbsp;She enjoyed watching True Crime Shows, Lifetime movies, cooking, praying, relaxing and her Dallas Cowboys. &nbsp;Above all, Susana was a devoted family member, always looking forward to spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. &nbsp;

Mary Margaret Werth, 73, died August 3, 2023, at Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Hospital, Bartlesville, OK. She was born September 5, 1949, in Okeene, OK, to Henry and Marie (Kirchner) Huhman.

Mary attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Okeene, OK, and was a 1968 graduate of Okeene High School. She was employed as the Head Cashier at St. Mary’s Hospital, Enid, OK, until 1985. &nbsp;Mary was a bookkeeper and worked for various businesses from 1985 to 2015. &nbsp;She was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, KS.

Mary enjoyed sewing, needle crafting, and making blankets for the church Altar Society. &nbsp;She was known for making the ‘best bierocks in the state of Kansas’. &nbsp;Mary had a love for her pets, but her greatest love and source of joy was her family and friends. &nbsp;She thoroughly loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

On May 11, 1985, Mary married Ronald Werth, and they moved to Kansas. &nbsp;They shared over 38 years of marriage.

She is survived by: &nbsp;her husband, Ronald Werth of Hutchinson, KS; children, Annie (Brian Orth) Werth of Sedgwick, KS, and Phillip Werth of Hutchinson, KS; grandson, Trexton Murphy; siblings, Rose (Jim) Monahan of Murrysville, PA, and Anthony (Judy) Huhman of Enid, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Elizabeth Fischer Girsch of Henderson NV, was born Jan. 26th, 1923 and passed July 29th, 2023.  Beloved mother and grandmother. 

 Survived by Jeff and Gloria Fischer, Ann Fischer, John and Michele Wiens, Audrey Fischer, and two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

 She was predeceased by a son, Michael Fischer.

Mary Michelle “Shellie” McNaul Morgan-Wilson died August 6, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 2, 1948, in Hutchinson, the daughter of James and Mary Ann (Revel) McNaul.

She graduated from Trinity High School in Hutchinson in 1966. She got her nursing degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Scott, Kansas. She worked in various hospitals and clinics all over the world and she worked as a case manager later in her career.

On March 29, 1969, she married Leon W. Morgan in Hutchinson. To this union was born her daughter Beth Ann and son Marc Leon. They later divorced. On May 17, 1986, she married Robert V. Wilson in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1999.

She is survived by her family; daughter Beth (Craig) Wolf, and son Marc (Amy) Morgan, all of Hutchinson; bonus children; Todd (Cindy) Wilson, Tonya Wilson, and Teresa Wilson; grandchildren, MariBeth (Dustin) Jackson, Windom, Olivia Morgan and Trevor Morgan, both of Hutchinson; bonus grandchildren, Jordan Wilson, Katelyn Wilson, and Audrey Wilson; great grandchildren, Maddilynn Wolf, Colton Wolf, and Cayson Jackson; brothers Michael (Tracy) McNaul, Hutchinson and Phillip (Connie) McNaul, Shell Knob, MO; and numerous nieces nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Shellie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert.

Shellie lit up the room and had a knack for making things better. She was our sunshine and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff for their care of her.

Jimmy Dwight Christianson, age 77, passed away on August 3, 2023 at Schowalter Villa. He was born on August 12, 1945 to Glen and Betty Christianson in Hamburg, Iowa. Jim grew up in Shenandoah, Iowa. He worshiped at the First Christian Church and attended Shenandoah schools, Jim worked as a cook in high school.

After high school, Jim worked at a car dealership in Shenandoah. He and his brother, David, moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1967 to work as mechanics for Oser Leasing Company. In 1969, Jim moved to Newton, Kansas to open a new shop for the Company. The shop was located on Old 81 Highway and he worked at that location for 48 years. During that time, the shop changed names several times: Feld, Gelco, Penske and finally J.C. Diesel. Jim was a talented mechanic and was known to fabricate his own parts when needed to repair a semi-truck or car.

In 1963, Jim married Pamela Billingsley. They would have three children and divorce. Jim moved to Hesston, Kansas and in 1977, he married Judy Koontz. They were married until her death in 2000. In 2006, Jim married Pat Goering.

Jim enjoyed watching NASCAR, football and baseball. He attended car racing and drag racing events and spent time working on race cars. Over the years, Jim participated in bowling leagues, built and flew remote control airplanes, and participated in motorcycle poker runs.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Merle Sheridan; his second wife, Judy; and his brother David Christianson.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Tammy (Sean) Nibert of Trenton, Florida; son, Tracy (Debbie) Christianson of Newton; and son, Steve Christianson of Newton; step-son, Toby Koontz of Gillett, Wyoming; step-daughter, Angela Ratzlaff of Great Bend, Kansas; step-daughter, Megan (Kieth) Frymire of Newton; step-daughter, Leslie (Daniel) Knapp of Maize, Kansas; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Danny (Debbie) Christianson of Shenandoah, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mary Christianson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and other extended family and friends.

Ranea Henderson, 69, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp; She was born April 15, 1954 in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Buren and Edith (Davidson) Risley.

Ranea graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1972 and worked Underground Vaults and Storage as an accounts manager for over 20 years.&nbsp; Ranea loved caring for animals. &nbsp;She recently was learning how to knit and crochet from some of her friends. &nbsp;She attended and was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.

On January 2, 1998, Ranea married Michael Henderson at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He passed away on February 13, 2023.

Ranea is survived by her sons, Ryan Corkins of Lawrence, KS, and Brett (Celia) Corkins of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Natalia Corkins; brothers, Terry (Sandy) Risley of Viera, FL, and Jeff (Monica) Risley of Springhill, FL; sister, Cheryl (John) Laughary of Wichita, KS; &nbsp;and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; and a son, Jeremy Bankey.

 </figure>Ranea Henderson, 69, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp; She was born April 15, 1954 in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Buren and Edith (Davidson) Risley.Ranea graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1972 and worked Underground Vaults and Storage as an accounts manager for over 20 years.&nbsp; Ranea loved caring for animals. &nbsp;She recently was learning how to knit and crochet from some of her friends. &nbsp;She attended and was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.On January 2, 1998, Ranea married Michael Henderson at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He passed away on February 13, 2023.Ranea is survived by her sons, Ryan Corkins of Lawrence, KS, and Brett (Celia) Corkins of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Natalia Corkins; brothers, Terry (Sandy) Risley of Viera, FL, and Jeff (Monica) Risley of Springhill, FL; sister, Cheryl (John) Laughary of Wichita, KS; &nbsp;and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; and a son, Jeremy Bankey.Per Ranea’s wishes, cremation has taken place. &nbsp;Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice House or Eastwood Church of Christ for India and Africa Missions and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS 67502.

George “Butch” E. Blosch, 77, of McPherson, KS, passed away on August 3, 2023, at home.

George was born on November 4, 1945, in Independence, IA, the son of Harry R. and Wilma E. (Brown) Blosch.&nbsp; He graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in Iowa.&nbsp;

On September 21, 1965, George was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Daleske in Eldora, IA.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Lori and Dyan. George and Ruth shared nearly 58 years of marriage together.&nbsp;

He was employed at Femco Inc. and Kansas Jack in McPherson. He then retired from Future Foam in 2011 after 13 years of admired employment.

George belonged to the First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, camping, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending much valued time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; two daughters, Lori Byington (Richard) of McPherson, KS and Dyan Chapin (Kyle) of Lyons, KS; three grandchildren, Emily Wills (Phillip) of Kansas City, KS, Eli Byington (Nicole) of McPherson, KS, and Tucker Chapin of Lyons, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harry Blosch, and sisters, Nancy Mitchell and Cathy Sease.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor David Kincaid officiating.&nbsp;

Samuel Leighton “Sam” Roots, 49, formerly of Hutchinson, died August 3, 2023, in Grand Junction, CO, with his brother, Matthew, and his best friend, Jules, by his side. He was born November 23, 1973, in Seoul, Korea, and adopted by Roger Leighton and Mary Arnelda (Glass) Roots.

Sam graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1992. &nbsp;He owned and operated several businesses in Denver, CO. &nbsp;Sam’s pride and joy was his daughter, Sterling.&nbsp;

Sam is survived by: &nbsp;his little brother, Matthew Roots (Tricia) and his nephew and niece, Riley and Jayden Roots, all of Inman; little sister, Katie Roots of New York, NY; best friend and co-parent, Jules Pitchford; his beautiful daughter, Sterling, both of Grand Junction, CO; aunt, Patricia Peoples; and numerous cousins. &nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents, Roger and Mary Roots; paternal grandparents, Bill and Mildred Roots; maternal grandparents, Arnold and Alzenith Glass; aunt, Bonnie Fee (Frank) uncle, Frank Peoples; and cousin, Carolyn Fee.

Cremation has taken place. &nbsp;A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. &nbsp;

Kermit Gene Wedel, M.D., a family physician and community leader in Minneapolis, KS., for six decades, died peacefully on July 27, 2023, at the age of 90. He is survived by four children and his wife of 69 years, Kathleen.&nbsp;

Kerm, the son of Arthur A. and Elizabeth K. Wedel, was born at the family farmhouse in McPherson County on July 28, 1932, shortly after his identical twin brother, Ken. He told great stories of his life growing up on the farm. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in McPherson County and Moundridge High School. He then attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. On Oct. 16, 1953, he married Kathleen Zerger at Eden Mennonite Church in rural Moundridge. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine where his studies earned him selection into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.&nbsp;

Kerm spent an extra year as a surgical resident in Wichita after medical school and then joined Ken in practice in Minneapolis in 1962. Ken and Kerm worked mostly at the Minneapolis Clinic (Wedel, Wedel and Barker), two blocks from Kerm’s home on Fifth Street, where he and Kathleen would raise their growing family. Besides raising their children, the two opened their home to medical school preceptors, foreign exchange students and friends and neighbors for numerous themed events.&nbsp;

In addition to being a skilled physician, Dr. Wedel was a recognized leader in the medical profession. &nbsp;He served his profession in many capacities, including serving as President of the Kansas Medical Society in 1982-83. &nbsp;He also served as KMS’ principal delegate to the American Medical Association for two decades. &nbsp;Dr. Wedel served as an associate professor in family medicine for the University of Kansas School of Medicine. &nbsp;Other roles included Governor’s Commission on Healthcare and the Board of Blue Shield of Kansas. &nbsp;In his 18 years as a board member at the Kansas Health Foundation they approved $336 million in grants improving healthcare and healthcare access.

Jerry Slaughter of the Kansas Medical Society recently wrote: “It’s hard to condense down into one paragraph the contributions he made over many years, but without question, he was one of the most impactful physician leaders we have had. &nbsp;He was generous of his time, humble, pragmatic, cheerful, always positive, and never sought attention or recognition for his efforts on behalf of the profession he so ably represented.”

The same sentiment can be said for his many roles in the local community. &nbsp;He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church and held many leadership positions. &nbsp;He served as member and chair of the USD 239 Board of Education, a founder of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, president of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce as well as the city council, including as mayor from 2016 to 2021. &nbsp;He was one of four community members to travel to Colorado to secure the purchase of the land that would become Rock City Park.

He enjoyed all sports and occasionally said that if he hadn’t been a doctor, he might have been a baseball umpire.&nbsp;He loved spending time at the family’s cabin on Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas. &nbsp;This provided years of enjoyment for friends and for annual gatherings of all children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that was held each year and included teaching children, grandchildren and children of friends how to ski.Kerm was preceded in death by his brother Delbert; his twin brother, Ken; and his sister, Leola.
