Archie D. Sutphin Jr, 62, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. 

He was born September 3, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Archie and Barbara (Ricker) Sutphin.Archie was a certified machinist for Mega Manufacturing for 6 yrs. and worked in lawncare for 15 yrs. 

He was an advocate of the humane society and was known as the Kingman Cat Man.

Archie is preceded by his parents; and a sister, Angela Systad.He is survived by his daughter, Heather Williams; two nieces, one nephew and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Hutchinson Funeral Chapel &amp; Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys Pearl Niles, 94, died on Nov. 5, 2023, at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North Newton, Kan. Gladys was born on Jan. 15, 1929, in Newton, to Menno E. and Esther (Unruh) Schmidt.

Gladys grew up in a home in Newton and attended McKinley Grade School. She graduated from Newton High School in 1947, and from Bethel College in 1951, with additional schooling at Wichita State University, Emporia State University, and Utah University.

She married Clarence Niles on Aug. 12, 1951. They were married for 67 years. Gladys met Clarence at Bethel College, where they worked together on the college yearbook,&nbsp;Graymaroon,&nbsp;as assistant editor and editor, respectively.

She and Clarence began their teaching careers in western Kansas and taught there for five years, where Gladys taught English, speech, served as a librarian, and directed plays, before moving to Newton. There, she processed books at Newton Senior High School, and was a substitute teacher at Newton Junior and Senior High Schools and a media specialist at Newton High School until 1989.

Gladys was incredibly generous with her time and talents, both during her career and retirement, volunteering at the Bethel Hospital Gift Shop, Newton Medical Center Gift Shop, and Newton Et Cetera Shop, and serving on the boards of the Bethel College Women’s Association, Bethel College Alumni Association, Western District Conference Book Selection Committee, and Warkentin House, where she was also a docent. She volunteered as a docent at Kauffman Museum as well.

She was a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church and served on its Literature Committee and Women’s Fellowship Executive Committee, as well as being active in her Sunday School class.

Gladys and Clarence loved reading and traveling; they particularly enjoyed international travel. They also enjoyed lively conversations with friends and their family, and especially cherished time with their grandchildren, and for Gladys, time with her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister, Iva Reber; daughter, Gail Stucky (Mark); grandchildren, Matt (Blaire Mayhue) and Marike (Alex Igram); and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Jan Niles; and parents, Menno and Esther Schmidt.

Lila M. Arnold passed away on November 2, 2023 in Wichita KS. She was born near Newkirk OK on May 3, 1931, to Leslie R. and Pearl (Howard) McWhorter who both predeceased her. Lila was also predeceased by two younger siblings: Walter McWhorter and Lillian Crease.

&nbsp;Lila is survived by daughter Laurie Showell (Judy Johnston), son Gregg Arnold (Ginny), and son Jay Arnold (Stacy) as well as seven grandchildren: Weston, Harper, Aynsley, Cameron, Connor, Jordan and Evan, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her life companion of over twenty years, Sigrid Trombley.

Lila married her high school sweetheart, Robert R. Arnold in 1952 and they later divorced. Over the course of their 30+ year marriage, they raised their 3 children and Lila went back to school to complete her education. Lila graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Master of Fine Arts. Lila was a gifted writer having published poetry as well as written and edited speeches and other commercial publications. She shared her talent for composing music and lyrics with the Unitarian Church in Wichita where she was active for many years. Additionally, she worked as a realtor for 24 years before retiring at age 78.

Lila was a devoted lover of music and literature as well as her family, friends and church community. She enjoyed playing bridge and other games, doing puzzles, reading, listening to music, fine dining, entertaining and socializing. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and a multitude of friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, Lila requested that donations be made in her name to the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 7202 E 21st St N, Wichita, KS 67206.

Lila M. Arnold |1931-2023|

Delmer James Reimer, beloved husband, father, and community leader passed away, on October 31, 2023, in the comfort of his residence at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas.

Delmer was born at home on the farm in Diller, Nebraska, on June 1, 1929, to parents Pete and Agatha Reimer. He was the fourth of five children and the last surviving child. In 1940, his family relocated to Buhler, Kansas where he helped his father with their family hatchery and mill. When he wasn’t working on the family farm, Delmer was striving to be the best at any sport he could try. His early passion for competitive sports would go on to shape his life and legacy.

On October 6, 1951, Delmer married the love of his life, Geraldine Louise Toews, originally from Kremlin, Oklahoma. Together, they raised a loving family of four sons: Timothy (Anita) Reimer of Wichita, Kansas; Mark (Hue) Reimer of Tequesta, Florida; Steven (Stephanie) Reimer of Crosby, Minnesota; and Paul (Karla) Reimer of Seabeck, Washington. Delmer and Geraldine were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished their time with their grandfather.

In 1952, Delmer earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. His lifelong career as a coach and educator was put on hold by the Korean War. Delmer served as an X-ray technician for the Topeka State Hospital for two years of alternative national service.

In 1957, Delmer embarked on his 30-year tenure at Tabor College. Over the years he held multiple roles on campus, including Professor of Physical Education, Athletic Director, and the Head Coach of basketball, tennis, soccer, and track and field. Delmer’s love of higher education and sports was unwavering. During two brief stints away from Tabor he obtained a master’s degree from Emporia State University in 1962 and a Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado in 1969. When not impacting lives at Tabor, Delmer was serving communities and institutions in the broader Heartland Region. His steadfast leadership to build a flourishing competitive sporting environment in the region earned him national recognition and numerous awards.

Delmer was also committed to his faith and his community. After leaving Tabor, Del worked for two years at World Impact in Wichita assisting with the operations of an inner-city health center and six years at Mennonite Mutual Aid serving five midwestern states. Delmer and Gerry were lifelong and active members of the Mennonite Brethren Conference, attending churches in Hillsboro, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas, and Hesston, Kansas, where they found their final home.

Delmer is survived by Gerry who continues to reside at Showalter Villa. A memorial service will be held at the Hesston Mennonite Church on November 11, 2023, at 10:30 AM. The event will be livestreamed on the www.hesstonmc.org/memorial. A lunch will be served following the service. James "Jim" Gilbert Smith, 77, of Iola, KS, died October 25, 2023, at his home.&nbsp; He was born April 21, 1946, in Iola, to Eugene B. and Jessie Heldebrandt Smith.

Jim was employed at T.G. &amp; Y. in Iola and then Pegues Department Store and Peel's Beauty Supply in Hutchinson before retiring back to Iola.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by: brother- Larry Lee Smith; cousins- Kay Southards and Jay Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by: his parents; brother Leonard Smith; step-brothers- William (Bill) and Robert (Bob) Smith and Richard (Ben and Jess (Roe) Spencer.

Jim had a small group of close friends he considered family: Christopher Britton, Lt. Governor David and Elizabeth Toland, Donna Houser, Levi Flory, Eddie Johnson and Trey O'Hara.

He had a true love for all animals.&nbsp; In his estate, Jim left his home to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF).

A Celebration of Life will be at 1 pm on Sunday November 12, 2023, at Derryberry Breadery, 20 W. Jackson Ave., Iola.&nbsp; After the celebration a Golden Rain Tree graciously donated by Levi Flory of TLC Garden Center will be planted at ACARF- 305 E. Highway 54, LaHarpe, KS, in Jim's honor.

Norman Funk |1936-2023|

Karen Sue Stickley, 88, left this earth November 3, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Hutchinson, KS. Born on August 7, 1935, in Pratt, KS she was the 2nd of 5 children born to Brewster and Mildred (Shepard) Dodson.

On January 3, 1954, she married Marvin L. Chronister in Pratt, KS. Born to this union were Ron, Doug, Lisa, and Eric Chronister. On September 4, 1964, she married Carl S. Stickley in Pratt, KS. This marriage added two step-children, M. Wade Gillen, and Carla Morris. Karen and Carl shared 58 years of marriage before Carl’s passing in December 13, 2022.

Karen was passionate about her home and family and her love of music included hymns, choirs, 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s sounds along with Drum Corps which engaged her love of travel. She continued to volunteer as a “Corps Mom” for the Sky Ryders Drum &amp; Bugle Corps even after her children had aged out. In later years she volunteered at The Fox Theatre and Strataca: KS Underground Salt Museum and enjoyed being a part of The Red Hat Society. She was a member of Countryside Baptist Church.

Karen is survived by: son, Ron (Bonnie), Halstead; KS; daughter-in-law Glenda, Little Rock, AR; daughter Lisa (Randy), Hutchinson, KS; son, Eric (Geralyn), South Hutchinson KS; step-daughter, Carla, Great Bend, KS; brother, Bob Dodson, CA; sister, Jan Hertl, WY; sister, Gayle Johnston, MT; sister-in-law, Sharon Dodson, Ellis, KS; sister-in-law, Jane Goodwin, Canada; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Carl; son, Doug; step-son, Wade and spouse Marty; sister and brother-in-law Dona and Jack Eastes; and great-granddaughter, Kennadie Gorrell.

Born June 28, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Shirley Lay, passed from this world on October 30, 2023.

In 1965, because of serious health issues, and her great love for her daughters, Shirley allowed Cathy, along with her sister, Sandy, to be adopted by Shirley’s brother, Jim and sister-in-law, Jean Bridges.

Cathy and Sandy (Thor) joined the Bridges Tribe in Pueblo, Colorado: Jim N. Bridges (Karen) Newark, California; Carolyn Hensley,&nbsp;Olathe, Kansas;&nbsp;Rebecca Wingfield,&nbsp;Marion, Kansas; Wayne Bridges (Barb) Shawnee, Kansas; and Troy Bridges, Milan, Kansas.

In the summer of 1980, Cathy married Charlie Unruh of Hillsboro, KS. During their 6-year union they had two daughters,&nbsp;Christine Lanham (Steven) of Walton, KS and Chelsea Schafers.&nbsp;Cathy was also blessed with three grandchildren: Sarah Schafers, Santiago Schafers, and Saurora Schafers.

One of Cathy’s proudest accomplishments growing up was holding top spot on the Mullinville 500 Club, whose members’ goal was to run 500 miles. Cathy held top spot on the Leader Board for a long time, even after moving to Marion where she completed grades 6 – 12.

Whether she was cooking at the hospital or nursing home, or stocking shelves at Walmart, Cathy was a hard and faithful worker who placed very little value on money or on accumulating things. She was always ready to help someone and more than willing to drop everything to spend time with her grandkids.

Cathy hated unkindness in any form.&nbsp; One of her favorite sayings was “Why can’t people just treat others like they want to be treated?" Cathy lived up to that saying daily. Her kindness will be sorely missed.

Cathy was predeceased by her dad, Jim Bridges, and her brothers Jim N. Bridges, Ronnie Lay, and Bobby Lay.&nbsp; In addition to her mother, Jean Bridges, siblings, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by Shirley Lay, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

William Terry “Bill” Dukelow, 79, of Metairie, LA, died October 29, 2023, at University Medical Center New Orleans. &nbsp;He was born November 28, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Samuel G. and Evelyn Clara (Ellsworth) Dukelow. &nbsp;

Bill graduated from Hillsdale High School, Hillsdale, LA, in 1961 and Louisiana State University in 1965, with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. &nbsp;He was an accountant, and after retirement, worked part-time in the security industry.

Bill is survived by his close friends, who were more like family: &nbsp;Nathan “Nat” Krasnoff (Leslie Hoffman) of Metairie, LA and Mary and Ed Vigueira and their children, Gabrielle and Bill’s Godchild, Adam, of Mandeville, LA; and numerous extended family members.&nbsp;

Allison Lee Bruch, 59, died October 31, 2023, at her residence. &nbsp;She was born October 6, 1964, in Great Bend, KS, to Alvin Befort and Vickie (Pryor) Befort.

Allison was a graduate of Mulvane High School, Mulvane, KS. &nbsp;She worked as an accountant for various businesses in the area. &nbsp;Allison loved her dogs. &nbsp;She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to give of herself and her time to help others and animals. &nbsp;Allison especially loved taking care of and giving gifts to her family. &nbsp;The family tried to rein her in when it came to providing her loved ones with gifts, but their instructions usually were not followed. &nbsp;&nbsp;

On May 20, 2005, she married Brett Alan Bruch in Wichita, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 18 years of marriage.

Allison is survived by: &nbsp;her husband, Brett Bruch of Mount Hope, KS; children, Jacob Bruch of Texas and Jacqualine Bruch of Andale, KS; grandson, Connor Bruch; sister, Lisa (Scott) Stoss of Hutchinson, KS; nephew, Dalton Stoss; niece, Samantha (Dylan) Schmitt; faithful canine companions, Nikki and Roxie; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

DeAnne Karen Thomas, 80, died October 21, 2023, at Legend Senior Living, Hutchinson. She was born February 18, 1943, in Wichita, to Lyndle Everett and Margaret Irene (Eppler) DeHart.

DeAnne graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961 and graduated Hutchinson Community College in 1963. She worked in the advertising department for Dillons Food Stores for many years.

DeAnne was an artist who enjoyed painting, sewing, and crafting. In her younger years, Deanne also loved to play golf.

On September 8, 1973, she married George Walker Thomas, in Hutchinson. They shared 29 years of marriage, prior to his death on November 6, 2002.

DeAnne is survived by: her sisters, Lynda Oneal of Wichita and Donna Brigman of Hutchinson; nieces, Marlena (Galen) Redenbaugh and Loralea Brigman both of Hutchinson; nephews, Mark (Diana) VanHorn of Wichita, Alan (Beverly) VanHorn of Overland Park, and Jeff (Cindy) VanHorn of Jonesboro, AR.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George and parents, Lyndle and Margaret. &nbsp;

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Dillon Nature Center Community Room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wilma Jean Hybsha, 90, passed away November 1, 2023 in her home in Spring, Texas.

She was born June 5, 1933 in Peabody, Kansas to Lloyd and Mildred (Ubben) Suffield.

Wilma enjoyed being outside and working on her garden full of flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed collecting coke memorabilia and dolls.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Jennings, sons Kyle (Deanna) Schirer and Brian (Janis) Schirer, step daughter, Lois (Randy) Ross.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Sisters, Juanita Birkle and Linda (Harold) Olsen, brother Edwin (Butch) Suffield and sister in laws Bonnie Suffield and Tammy Suffield.&nbsp; She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Hybsha, son Kent Schirer, sister, Sharolyn Hett, brothers David Suffield and Gerald Suffield, and grandsons Joshua Brittain and Derek Schirer.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Petersen Funeral Home with a graveside service at Claney Cemetery, Marion, Kansas immediately following. &nbsp;Visitation will be the evening prior on Friday, November 10th from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty married Elmer Smith on June 27, 1947. They worked side-by-side owning Smith Construction, building new homes. &nbsp;After Elmer’s death, Betty became the owner of her own rental business. &nbsp; She enjoyed dancing, bowling, and being involved in the community. &nbsp;Betty was a member of the Red Hat Society, Sweet Adelines, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and Women of the Moose Hutchinson Chapter #1371.

Elizabeth June “Betty” Smith |1932-2023|

Cody Ray Allen Curl, 26, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 5:41 pm, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Burrton, KS. 

Cody was born in Salina, Kansas on June 24, 1997, a son of Kelsey Ray Curl and Antoinette Marie (Curl) Caldwell. Cody attended Roosevelt grade school, McPherson, KS, and graduated from Nickerson High School, Nickerson, Ks. He then attended Donnelly College, Lansing, Ks. where he received his Associates Degree in Business Management and later received a Welding Certificate for industrial welding. 

Through the years Cody worked for Apac Road Construction, Hutchinson, Ks., he then worked as a pipeline welder for many years and was currently working for TL Steel, Burrton, Ks as a welder. Cody was a great football player, he enjoyed boating, wrestling, camping and spending time with his friends and family.

Cody attended Roosevelt grade school, McPherson, KS, and graduated from Nickerson High School, Nickerson, Ks. He then attended Donnelly College, Lansing, Ks. where he received his Associates Degree in Business Management and later received a Welding Certificate for industrial welding. Through the years Cody worked for Apac Road Construction, Hutchinson, Ks., he then worked as a pipeline welder for many years and was currently working for TL Steel, Burrton, Ks as a welder. Cody was a great football player, he enjoyed boating, wrestling, camping and spending time with his friends and family. Glenda June Lindenberger passed away November 1, 2023, at Hospice House of Hutchinson. She was born June 6, 1933, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Lewis P. and Dorothy D. Vetter. Glenda graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951. On September 2, 1952, she married Glen G. Lindenberger in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2001.

Glenda worked for 30 years for Schmitt Interiors as a drapery seamstress. She was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. Glenda greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and their many activities. She was the queen of the Red Hat Ramblin’ Roses in Hutchinson. Glenda also enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by: three sons; Kris(Joyce) Lindenberger of Inman, Ks, Greg (Carla)Lindenberger and Mark (Sonya)Lindenberger, of Hutchinson; two daughters, Gina (James) Rayburn, Springdale, AR, and Peri (Harlen) Depew of Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren, Kyle Lindenberger, Kreg Linden, Laura Lindenberger, Jennifer Beck, Jacob Lindenberger, Julie Leonard, Diana Marshall, Jessica Stucky, Cody Lindenberger, Casey Lindenberger, Erik Beach, Casey Vittetoe, Stacy Pulk, John Depew, and Jason Depew; and 19 great grandchildren.

Glenda was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; brother, Vernon Vetter; two sisters, Barbara Powell and Marlyn Kerschner.

John Edward Selzer, 78 of rural Canton died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living, McPherson. He was born February 22, 1945 in Canton, the son of Wilbur Edward and Lizzie Mae (Yoder) Selzer. He was a self employed welder and a lifelong Canton resident.

Survivors include brothers, Harold (Penny) Selzer, McPherson, Steven (Debra) Selzer, Canton, Ben (Beth) Selzer, Hesston, Myron Selzer, Canton and Eldon (Teresa) Selzer, Landisville, PA; a sister, Marilyn Mohler, Kirkwood, PA; four nieces; five nephews; one great niece and one great nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Allen Mohler.

Ricky Allen “Rick” Turner, 59, died peacefully on earth and was ushered into Heaven on October 30, 2023, at Westview of Derby, with his family by his side. &nbsp;He was born December 6, 1963, in Hutchinson, to Kenneth William and Annie Mae (Potter) Turner.

Rick graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1982, and attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri and Wichita State University. &nbsp;He was very gifted with anything related to the Arts, especially singing, acting, and drawing. &nbsp;Rick played in many High School plays and would command the stage. Rick had a hilarious sense of humor and was well liked by many. Rick had a generous, sweet and kind heart. Rick accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on January 1, 1984 and was baptized. His favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13; "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." Rick was loved unconditionally by his family, and he shared a special bond with his sister, brother-in-law, two nieces, nephew and two great-nephews. &nbsp;

Rick is survived by: his father, Kenneth Turner (Barbara) of Hutchinson; brother, Terry Turner (Janet) of Hutchinson; sister, Annette Souza (Steven) of Shell Knob, MO; nieces and nephews, Brandon Colvard, Ashley Schmidt, Traca Colvard, Anthony "Tony" Turner (Brea), Cameron VanDegrift (Laura), Trevor Turner (Alyssa) and Colby Turner; eight great-nieces and nephews; and uncles, Jim Turner (Pam) and Allen Cole and many cousins.

O’Dell Reed, 81, born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away in Wichita, KS on October 29th, 2023.

O’Dell Reed, was born on October 1, 1942 known as Big O, and lived in Muskogee Oklahoma the son of parents who were sharecroppers, until around 5 years old. Later, moving with all his family including the Reed’s, Crawford’s, and Irving’s to Hutchinson Kansas.&nbsp;

In Hutchinson He lived a life of humble beginnings attending McCandless Elementary School followed by Sherman Junior High where he finished 8th grade.

O’Dell’s first job that he loved dearly was shoe shining. Mr. Fuller took him under his wing and taught him everything he needed to know about shoe shining. Here O’Dell found a new passion and gained tips to help support his family. Next O’Dell became a dishwasher at Hutchinson Community College, there he adopted the name “The singing pot and pan man”.&nbsp;

O’Dell loved to sing so much that he made a career in entertainment singing with many groups including The Jades, O’Dell Reed and the Fabulous Cadillac’s, The Imperials, and King Midas and the Mufflers, with whom he entered The Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Liberty Hall of Fame in 2007. His talent, voice, and smile touched the lives of countless fans who have admired him for years. O'Dell's love for singing gospel and soul music inspired him to become one of the most iconic and beloved soul singers in the Hutchinson area.

Later on, O’Dell would retire from Jacksons Meat Market and move to Wichita, KS to be closer to his family. O’Dell Reed was a simple passionate man, he will always be remembered for his bright smile, energetic personality, mild nature, and caring ways. He touched so many lives and always remained positive until the very end. O’Dell will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for Friday, November 17, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., at the Dillon Hall/Encampment Building in Hutchinson, KS.

O'Dell will be buried in the East Side cemetery with his mom per his request.

Rev. Eldon John Epp, 72, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at his home. He was born on September 1, 1951 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of John Regier and Katharina (Ediger) Epp.

Eldon grew up on a cattle farm south of Buhler. He graduated from Buhler High School with the class of 1969. Eldon later attended Hutchinson Community College and Bethel College, where he received his undergraduate.

Following his schooling, Eldon worked on a year-round team managing Swan Lake Christian Camp near Freeman, South Dakota for 2 ½ years. He then headed off to the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana and graduated with his Master’s degree of Divinity. The summer following his seminary, Eldon student pastored at First Mennonite Church of Christian in Moundridge. In 1981, he started pastoring at the new Mennonite Church in Salina and in 1988 went to Ames, Iowa for a ½ time post with the campus-related Mennonite Fellowship there.

In 1993, Eldon began two years of chaplaincy training at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, followed by three years at the Manhattan, KS Mennonite Church. Eldon moved to Wichita in 2007, and in 2009, he began pastoring at First Mennonite Church in Ransom, Kansas until 2021. His most recent positions were Chaplain for Bethesda Home in Goessel and Associate Pastor at Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church in Wichita.

Eldon served on the stewardship team for the Western District Conference and was a member of the Christian Peacemaker Team.

He is survived by his sister, Dee Graber (Gary Clingenpeel), her daughter, Tammy (Brian) Coatney and their daughter, McKenna (Cannon) Kern; brother, Don (Annette) Epp, and their sons, Henry Epp (Sara Lewis), and Andrew (Taisha) Epp and their children, Isaiah, Izabella, and Lincoln.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Raymond Epp; and great-nephew, Clay Coatney.

Mackensi Layne Belden, 30, of Valley Center, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 4, 1993 in Wichita, the daughter of David Campos and Nancy Belden.

Mackensi graduated from Maize High School with the class of 2011. She was currently working on her Bachelor’s degree in Geology at Wichita State University.

While in school, Mackensi worked for Kansas Geological Survey (KGS).

She loved spending her free time outdoors hiking and camping, especially in Colorado.

She is survived by her parents, David (Cherie) Campos of Wichita, and Nancy Belden (Steve Wine) of Lago Vista, TX; brother, David (Alyssa) Campos of Wichita and their daughter, Alahna; sister, Alexis (Hayden) Morrison of Lago Vista, TX and their son, Drew; maternal grandmother, Linda Schrock of Haven; her boyfriend of three years, Cory Brown of Valley Center; and her beloved dog, Ollie.

Mackensi was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Tony and Gina Campos; and maternal grandfather, Dan Belden.

She was currently working on her Bachelor’s degree in Geology at Wichita State University.While in school, Mackensi worked for Kansas Geological Survey (KGS).She loved spending her free time outdoors hiking and camping, especially in Colorado.She is survived by her parents, David (Cherie) Campos of Wichita, and Nancy Belden (Steve Wine) of Lago Vista, TX; brother, David (Alyssa) Campos of Wichita and their daughter, Alahna; sister, Alexis (Hayden) Morrison of Lago Vista, TX and their son, Drew; maternal grandmother, Linda Schrock of Haven; her boyfriend of three years, Cory Brown of Valley Center; and her beloved dog, Ollie.Mackensi was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Tony and Gina Campos; and maternal grandfather, Dan Belden.Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Haven United Methodist Church.  She was born March 22, 1943 in Hillsboro to Leo and Margaret (Mastek) Jirak.  She married Robert Rahn November 8, 1985 in Winfield. 

 Survivors include: husband, Robert Rahn of Hillsboro; sons, Curt (Mary Ella) Vajnar of Hays, KS, Jason (Kerri) Vajnar of Plains, KS; daughter, Amy Vajnar (Lise Hill) of Lake Tapawingo, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Diana Vajnar of Cheney; step son, Glen (Sybil) Rahn Perry, Oklahoma; step daughter, Deana Pogue of Seiling, Oklahoma; brothers, Francis, Leonard, Mike, Ron, Steve, Mark, Greg; sisters, Marie, Irene, Ann, Rita; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; Predeceased by: son, Matthew Vajnar in 2021; step-daughter, Kimberly Rahn in 1989.

Alta Hickok, 93, went home to be with Jesus on October 27, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Medford, Oklahoma to Willard and Leona (Robertson) Somers on May 1, 1930.&nbsp;

She attended a one room schoolhouse North of Medford, and later graduated high school from Gore Consolidated. After graduation, she worked at a restaurant in Pond Creek, Oklahoma where she met her future husband, Emmett.&nbsp;

She spent many years as a homemaker and caring for young children at her church (FUMC VC) and other churches and families. She loved the little ones.&nbsp;

Alta enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church, family vacations, traveling with her church bus trips and reading. She was very loved by her family and friends for her warmth, love, kindness and wit. She was married to her beloved husband, Emmett, for 65 years. They had three children: Emmett (Gene), Janice (Jan) and Sharon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Leona; her siblings, William, Thelma, Marie, Homer and Glover; her husband, Emmett; her son, Gene, and daughter, Jan.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Joe) Bishop of Wichita, KS; her grandchildren, Kim Hugle of New Orleans, LA, Melissa (Ronnie) Williams of New Orleans, LA, Jason Hickok of Aurora, CO, and Jamie (Andrew) Leopold of Shawnee, KS; her great grandchildren, Sienna Leopold, Jonathan Hugle and Emmett Leopold; her brother, Frank (Jean) Somers of Waynesville, MO and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 4th at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick, Kansas. Lunch will follow at Calvary Chapel West Wichita at&nbsp;1:30 pm.

Glenda Elaine Murray, 95, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Clay Center, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023, surrounded by family at her home.&nbsp;

Glenda was born on September 11, 1928, in Beatrice, NE, the daughter of Fred Louis and Pauline R. (Schroeder) Cornelius.&nbsp; On April 19, 1953, Glenda was united in marriage to Richard Allan Murray in Wymore, NE.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children, Judith, Sharon, David, and James.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and volunteered at Save ‘N Share and for Meals On Wheels.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 70 years, Richard of the home; four children, Judith Martinez (Pedro) of Copperas Cove, TX, Sharon Peterson (John) of Albuquerque, NM, David Murray (Sondra) of Albuquerque, NM, and James Murray (Elisabeth) of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Sondra Germer (Larry) of Diller, NE; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.
