Robert Lester “Bob” Burns, 78, died July 21, 2023, surrounded by family, at his home in  Wichita. He was born July 12, 1945, in Wichita, to John Raymond Horney and Bertha Naomi (Cavanee) Burns.  

Bob graduated from Wichita East High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University.  He worked in law enforcement most of his life, retiring from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department after 27 years.  Bob was a charter member of Wichita, Kansas FOP Lodge #5 and the “Blue Knights”.  He enjoyed basketball, riding his motorcycle, and woodworking.  Bob was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. He never missed a game dressed with his cheese head, cheese tie, and Nelson jersey. Above all though, he was his family’s greatest fan; Bob loved his family unconditionally.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren always knew Papa would be there for them, in both the peaks and valleys of life. 

On July 23, 1977, he married Sharon Reese, in Wichita.  

Bob is survived by:  his wife of 46 years, Sharon; children, Kristina Reed (Matthew), Kimberly Jill  Diehm, and Robert Michael Burns (Sarah); grandchildren, Amanda Bolain (Greg), Emily Herrera (Fernando), Victoria Arenas (Jason), Cody Burns, Payton Burns (Kyli), Hayley Burns, Sydney Burns, Maxx Diehn, Adrianna Mains, Alex Mains (Jordan), and Michael Mains; great-grandchildren, Collin Bolain, Liberty Bolain, Everly Bolain, Talyn Jamieson, Joseph Herrera, Jazlynn Herrera, Jenavieve Herrera, Aspen Herrera, Hudson Arenas, Brooklyn Achilles, Jameson Mains, Jacy Mains, and Beckett Burns; bonus sons and daughters, Mark Mains, Dennis Sanders, David Spencer, and Erica Scofield; siblings, John Horney (Eva), Connie Crow (Fred), and Susan Burdick (Jerry); nieces and nephews, Rachel Swartz (John), Josh Burdick (Celestina), Tammy Cook (Ryan), Robin Dodson (Alan), Lori Wheatley (Gary), M’tika Heibel, John Williams, and Scott Williams. 

He was preceded in death by:  his mother, Naomi Kelsey; his father, Raymond Horney; stepfather, Dennis Kelsey; sister, Margaret Kelsey; bonus grandson, Karson Becker; stepbrothers, David Kelsey, John Kelsey; and stepsisters, Norma Baumgardner, Corrine Young, and Arline Duke.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. There will be a come and go gathering of friends and family from 5pm-7pm Thursday at the home of Bob and Sharon in Wichita. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.

Roberta B. Shogren, 93, passed away on July 22, 2023 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, KS. 

She was born November 29, 1929 in Ralston, OK, the daughter of Bob and Harriett Bell. Roberta married Dennis E. Shogren on August 26, 1948 in Emporia, KS. They were married 64 years before he passed away in 2012. 

Roberta graduated from Emporia High School and attended Emporia State University. She enjoyed spending her free time golfing, playing tennis and playing bridge. She was a world class bridge player, attending and playing bridge all over the world. Roberta was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. 

Survivors include her nephews, Stephen (Stormy) Shogren, Richard (Marilyn) Shogren and Evan (Sharon) Lindquist; niece, Katherine Shogren; and special friends, Gene and Pat Buxton and Wayne McMurray. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dennis. 

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating.

Kevin Craig “Chewey” Kay, passed away on July 11, 2023 in Marion, Kansas after a valiant battle with cancer. &nbsp;He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on August 5, 1958 to Richard Kay and Jacqueline (Ouellette) Kay. &nbsp;He was a lifelong resident of the road. &nbsp;He had limited formal education but obtained his education from a life spent mostly on two wheels. &nbsp;He lived in Rhode Island, Maine, North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri and spent nearly 20 years in Kansas.

Chewey enjoyed motorcycles and all events and people that it entails. &nbsp;He was truly a free individual and a free spirit. &nbsp;He was a giving soul: he organized food drives for the elderly and homeless, cleaned up graffiti on underpasses and such that children had to pass through, he opened an arcade, during one of his periods of settling down albeit temporary, for kids so that they wouldn’t be out running the streets. &nbsp;He moved to Kansas, where he met his love, the woman who finally got him to settle down (well sort of), Julie Scheideman and they shared nearly 17 years of love together. &nbsp;Chewey loved and accepted her children (Levi Anderson, Joey Anderson and Robyn Anderson) as a part of him as well. &nbsp;He loved spending time with his family: watching movies, going antiquing, thrift store shopping, doing yard work or taking them for rides on his motorcycle. &nbsp;

Chewey was employed as a maintenance man for Homestead Affordable Housing. Through his employment, he met and acquired many new friends who he absolutely adored. &nbsp;He had a great work ethic and always believed that if you were going to do something, do it well or don’t do it at all. &nbsp;He also believed that a person should always be learning, if he didn’t know how to do something, he would research it until he did. &nbsp;

He had such a magnetic personality and people were just drawn to him. &nbsp;He never met a stranger. Once he met you, you were his friend, often for life. &nbsp;He was a shooting star and the night sky will be much darker without him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, father Richard, sister Kimberly, step-father Ray, uncle Bob and aunt Judy and numerous biker brothers and sisters. &nbsp;

He is survived by Julie of Marion, Levi of Marion, Joey of Phoenix, Robyn of Wichita, his sister Karen of Rhode Island, his brother Billy of Rhode Island, his mother Jackie of Rhode Island, his brother biker Sean “Diggs” of Missouri, and numerous friends, biker brothers and sisters from everywhere.

Chewey never wanted a funeral or memorial service (just not his style) but he wanted everyone he loved to come together for a party. &nbsp;His 65th birthday would have been August 5. &nbsp;There will be an Unbirthday/Celebration of Life for him on that day at Julie’s home at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be designated in his memory to the American Cancer Society.

Juan Manuel Burciaga-Rodriguez, 69 passed away at home July 18, 2023. He was born March 8, 1954 in Morieleno,&nbsp;Chihuahua&nbsp;Mexico to Cruz Burciaga&nbsp;and Exiquia Arrieta Rodriguez.

He had a large loving family that consisted of his wife, Cheri (Lewis) who preceded him in death; his twin sister Juana Burciaga-Rodriguez; other siblings, Rafael Burciaga-Rodriguez, Celestino Burciaga-Rodriguez, Alejandra Burciaga-Rodriguez, Aureliza Burciaga-Rodriguez, Clara Maria Burciaga-Rodriguez&nbsp;and Rosa Burciaga-Rodriguez; 35 nieces and nephews and numerous other family members.

Juan was a talented minor league baseball player and had a lifelong passion for baseball. He enjoyed spending time with his great friends. He profoundly missed being able to spend more time with his family.

He retired&nbsp;from the City of Hutchinson where&nbsp;he worked 31 years.&nbsp;

Juan was a very hard working, generous, amazing man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gavin D. Phillips of Wichita, Kansas passed away on&nbsp; July 6th, 2023 &nbsp;in Wesley Medical Center surrounded by his family.&nbsp; On March 26th, 2004, he was born to April Phillips and Tony Erskine.&nbsp; Gavin attended middle and high school in Valley Center, Kansas before completing his GED on his own. He lived in Park City, Kansas and parts of Wichita, and Nebraska until adulthood.&nbsp;

Gavin was a man full of life, he lived his life to the fullest everyday. When he walked into a room the mood seemed to brighten. He had a way with words and could befriend anyone after a few minutes in conversation. He worked to be the best brother, husband, and son he could everyday. Gavin enjoyed the little things in life like fishing and was extremely good at it. He also valued time with his family and always listened to good music. He was called a gentle giant by many and had a heart of gold.

He is preceded in death by his mother April Phillips.

Gavin is survived by his wife Dena Phillips, siblings T.J, Adian, and Macy (Jay), and father Tony Erskine.

Ryan Gene Simpson, 58, was taken too soon on June 10, 2023, in Fort Scott, KS, as the result of a motorcycle accident. &nbsp;He was born October 29, 1964, in Kingman, KS to Terry and Norma (Warfield) Simpson.

Ryan graduated from Haven High School in 1983, and received his associate’s degree from Hutchinson Community College. He was employed for over 30 years at the Kroger/Dillons Distribution Center, working most recently as a perishable warehouse associate and trainer for new employees. Ryan was a long-standing member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 795. Ryan enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, taking trips on it with his wife, and making new friends wherever they traveled. He never knew a stranger. Above all, Ryan cherished time spent with his family and was an adoring “Papa” for his two grandchildren, Memphis and Addison. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

On February 14, 1987, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Newquist, in Hutchinson, KS at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ryan is survived by: his wife of 36 years, Cindy Simpson of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Makenzie and son-in law Nick Messer and grandchildren Memphis and Addison of Manhattan, KS; son, Zach Simpson of Denver, CO; parents, Terry and Norma Simpson of Hutchinson, KS; sisters, Robin and brother in-law Mike Murphy of Dallas, TX and Kathi and brother in-law James Craig of Wichita, KS; in-laws, Harry and Maxine Newquist; brother-in-law, Mike and sister-in-law Annetta Newquist, all of Hutchinson, KS; and many cherished nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorial service for Ryan will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Avenue, Hutchinson.

Bonnie M. Johnson, 93, died July 19, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 19, 1929, on Patterson Ranch, near Maitland, MO, to Rollie and Colene Margaret (Butzer) Landess.

On December 22, 1950, she married Daryl H. Johnson Sr., in Maitland. They had four children together, Daryl H. Johnson Jr., infant daughter (died at birth), Lorna B. Foster, and Jocelyn Elaine Johnson, who died in January, 1968. Later, Bonnie and Daryl got a divorce, but remained friends.

She attended North West Missouri State College after graduating from Maitland High School in 1947. Bonnie taught in Andrew and Holt County, MO schools for 9 years. She graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 1969.

Bonnie’s teaching career started in a single room school house. Nearby farmers would take turns driving Bonnie to the school house to teach their children ranging in age from 1st grade to 8th grade. She told her family of one particular instance where a farmer had to take Bonnie across the river. Later, Bonnie taught English and reading across the United States of America, including: Interlaken, NY; Gallup, NM; Blytheville, AR; and Neosho, MO. She retired from Neosho School District in 1994, teaching a total of 33 years. Bonnie’s love for teaching didn’t stop there - she was a substitute teacher for several years, tutored, and led the Volunteen program at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Bonnie found great joy leading the Volunteen program. She would throw pizza parties, give Christmas cards, write letters of recommendation so they could get scholarships, and no one went without a birthday gift.

Bonnie was a bookworm and a wordsmith. She was an avid reader. Scrabble was a hobby of Bonnie’s. It was always interesting to play with her. Bonnie’s grandchildren remember her bringing a 1950’s thesaurus to the game. If the word wasn’t in her thesaurus, it wasn’t a word. Bonnie enjoyed playing Word Search, Yahtzee (which she would often cheat during), and doing crossword puzzles. She liked to watch her old westerns on TV. Bonnie loved to have milk and cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was always something sweet to eat at Grandma’s house. Bonnie will be remembered as a loving, loyal, and devoted mom, grandma, and great-grandma, with a forgiving spirit.

In 1973, she was named to Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America. Bonnie was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (Alpha Epsilon Chapter) Teacher’s International Society, Neosho. Bonnie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

Bonnie is survived by: daughter, Lorna B. (Frank) Foster, Hutchinson; son, Daryl H. Johnson Jr., Carthage, MO; grandchildren, Sean Johnson, Jocelyn M. Shank, Aaron Johnson, Amy Buford, Tony Johnson, Jocelyn C. Holmes, Sarah Crowe, and George Foster; 11 great-grandchildren; cousins, Freddie Butzer, Maitland, Jeannie Reed, St. Joseph, MO, and Janis Kay “Sis” Waggoner, California; nephew, Eric Landess, Kansas City, KS; nieces, Jannelle Landess, Washington, and Britte Landess, St. Joseph, MO.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughters, Jocelyn Elaine, and infant daughter, Baby Girl Johnson, who is buried on Chincoteague Island, VA; and brother, Billy Wayne Landess.

Cremation has taken place. Private graveside service will be at a later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mound City, MO. Friends may sign the book from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary.

Elizabeth Louise Camp, 64, of Hutchinson,&nbsp;Kansas, died at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center July 12, 2023. She was born January 6, 1959 in Hutchinson, Kansas to James Gilbert and Joyce (Stoughton) Bass.&nbsp; Elizabeth graduated from Hutchinson High School. She then began to work in the medical field as a CMA for her career life. She always loved helping and taking care of others.&nbsp;

On October 13, 1981 she married Samuel Camp, Las Vegas, Nevada. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Nicole Gilbert, Jacqueline Garcia; son-in-law, Gilberto Garcia; 9 grandchildren; siblings, James Gilbert, Steven Gilbert, Sandy Lynn Barale, Linda Gilbert; and an extended family who loves her.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her daughter, Tiffany Ratzlaff.&nbsp;

Carl G. Wenger, 84, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Mercy Hospital. He was born May 26, 1939 in Goessel, Kansas, the son of Harry D. and Gladys (Koehn) Wenger.

He was united in marriage to Deola Becker on January 31, 1960 in Galva, KS. She survives of their home.

Carl lived in Walnut Hill, Florida from 1970 through 2001 then spent his retirement years in Hesston. He was a member of Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Hesston. Carl was a farmer and was also known for his mechanical skills.

He is also survived by his son, Bryan Wenger and his wife, Andra of Hiawatha, KS.; two daughters, Debbie Mininger and her husband, Kevin, and Sharla Koehn and her husband, Mike, all of Walnut Hill, Florida; brothers, Franklin (Karen) Wenger of Moundridge, Lee (Vivian) Wenger of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister, Grace (Wayne) Wenger of Dalhart, Texas; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Waldon Wenger and Galen Wenger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Hesston. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Kyle was a life-long resident of Hutchinson. He had a heart of gold and a strong work ethic. &nbsp;Kyle worked in the office for various businesses, include his grandfather’s company, M.W. Hartmann Manufacturing, and his sister’s Drum School. &nbsp; In addition, he enjoyed listening to country music and watching Lawrence Welk. &nbsp;Known for his flirtatious and friendly personality, Kyle was always ready for a party, especially if it involved dancing. &nbsp;He was an avid fan of WWE SmackDown, and enjoyed watching both the men and women wrestle. &nbsp;Kyle was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson, where he robustly sang hymns, including solos.&nbsp;

Kyle is survived by: &nbsp;his loving and devoted sister, Ginger Zyskowski; nephews, Michael Zyskowski (Gina Jamison), Andrew Zyskowski (Serena), and Jamie Zyskowski, all of Seattle, WA; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-niece.

David James Clinger, 66, of Hutchinson, Kansas died peacefully in his home on Thursday, July 13, 2023. David was born the son of James B. and Margaret (Peggy) Clinger on October 6, 1956 in Colby, Kansas.

David was a true lover of aviation. He worked for several airline/aviation companies including Cessna, Raytheon, Bizjet, and Avcon Industries. His “life’s work” was spent on jets as an A&amp;P Mechanic, and eventually he worked his way up to Pre-Flight Jet Aviation Inspector. He was truly proud of knowing that no jet he ever inspected ended up as a “lawn dart.” He also loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and putting together his model airplanes, jet’s, ships, and submarines.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and his only sibling, brother, Philip J. Clinger. David is survived by daughters Jenny Gilmore of Omaha, Nebraska, Alex Wonka and Jordan Crager, and his beloved cat, Lili Ann.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Mark Alan Loehr, 69, died July 16, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. &nbsp;He was born September 9, 1953, in Wichita, KS, to John Lester and Martha Marie (Hilger) Loehr.

Mark was a 1971 graduate of Haven High School, Haven, KS. &nbsp;He was employed by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline as an Operator A, retiring in 2013 with over 35 years of service.

On November 27, 1974, Mark married his high school sweetheart, Bobbie Gayle Venters, in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 34 years of marriage, prior to her death on July 16, 2009.

Ralph Harvey Geist, 84, died July 20, 2023, at Reflection Living Senior Living Home, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;He was born July 25, 1938, in Hutchinson, KS, to Everett Harvey and Emma Alveretta (Thompson) Geist.&nbsp;

Ralph was a 1956 graduate of Plevna High School, Plevna, KS. &nbsp;Early in his life, he worked at Cessna, operated a gas station in Sterling, KS, farmed on the side, and sold new cars for Chevrolet. &nbsp;In 1970, he opened his own car dealership, where he sold a variety of vehicles and equipment. &nbsp;Ralph began selling recreational vehicles in the 1990s and continued until his retirement. &nbsp;He attended Salt City Cowboy Church, South Hutchinson, KS.

Ralph enjoyed flying, racing cars, fishing, hunting, and buying and selling just about any type of vehicle or piece of equipment that had wheels and tires. &nbsp;He had a servant’s heart and liked to help people. &nbsp;Ralph’s greatest love was when he was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On May 1, 1961, he married Doloris Emily Nitengale, in Arlington, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 62 years of marriage.

Ralph is survived by: his wife, Doloris Geist of South Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Cindy (Kelly) Schmucker of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Rachelle (Shannon) McKay, Jordan (Julie) Geist, Matt (Victoria) Brock, Susan (Taylor) Morris, Shanae Schmucker, and Clay Schmucker; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Karen (Harold) Davidson of McPherson, KS, and Sherrill (Dick) Slifer of Plevna, KS; and daughter-in-law, Stephany (Elliot) Laib of Fort Worth, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Rick Geist.

Carol was born on June 25, 1944, in Haddam, KS, the daughter of Kenneth Elvin and Louisa Jane (Nieman) Rhine.&nbsp; She graduated from Haddam High School and attended Emporia State University.&nbsp; On June 20, 1964, Carol was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Henry Norris in Haddam, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with a daughter, Kendra.&nbsp; Bob preceded Carol in death on March 1, 2018.

Carol owned and operated McPherson Answering Service and McPherson Cab Company.&nbsp; She attended Countryside Covenant Church.

Survivors include: her daughter, Kendra Kuchta (Donald) of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Preston Diederich (Allie), Misti Unruh (Landon), Kali Graber (Zach), D.J. Hilzer (Lucy), Skyler Hilzer (Amanda), and Nikki Smith (Trevor); 15 great-grandchildren; half-siblings, Susan “Sue” Peltier (David) of Concordia, KS, Linda Friess (J.D.) of Neodesha, KS, Robert “Bobby” Mahurin of Sparks, NV, Janet “DeeDee” Blair of Modesto, CA, and Jean Mahurin of Millbrae, CA; and many extended family members and friends.

He was born on July 25, 1952 in Kingman, KS, the son of Ralph and Beatrice (Dodge) Young. At age 5, he moved to Syracuse, KS. On November 23, 1974 he married Judy Dreier and they lived east of Hesston, KS for their 48 years of marriage.

Bob is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Staci (Matthew) Richardson, Hesston; and son, Derek (Claudia) Young, Lawrence. He is also survived by three grandsons, Kaleb Hansen, Blake Hansen, and Braden Hansen, and four step grandchildren, Caylee Richardson, Cami Richardson, Celbi Richardson, and Cason Richardson; brothers, Bill (Carol) Young, Centennial, CO, and Brad (Janice) Young, Broken Arrow, OK; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant daughters, Tina Young and Crystal Young.

He worked as a custom harvester and trucker for 50 years. Bob knew no stranger - he had a gift of gab. He loved visiting over a cup of coffee at the "Round Table (Table of Knowledge)" at Charlie's Restaurant, Newton, KS. He enjoyed attending activities of the grandkids and collecting antique tractors.

Albert ‘Al’ Wayne Oller, 86, of Holyrood, died July 18, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born October 2, 1936, in rural Pratt County, to Andy Sam and Eunice (Ford) Oller. &nbsp;

Al graduated from McCracken High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in the 10th Mountain Division. After serving his country, Al began working as a clerk for Rock Island Railroad. Over his career he worked for several other railroads for forty years, retiring in 1997. Following his retirement, Albert was elected as an Ellsworth County Commissioner in 2007, in which he served for 12 years.

Albert loved hunting, fishing, and bird watching. He also enjoyed playing cards and watching sports. In addition, he served his community as Commander of the American Legion for ten years and was currently serving as vice-commander. Al was a member of the Wilson United Methodist Church

On April 19, 1959, he married Doris Evonne Ruff in Wilson, KS.

Albert is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Doris Oller of Holyrood, KS; children, Monty (Penny) Oller of Pawhuska, OK, and Lori (Gary) VanHouten of Abilene, TX; sister, Lola Rixon of Abilene, TX; brother, Gary (Jennifer) Oller of Holyrood, KS; sister-in-law, Delma Oyler of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Mason, Wade (Bailey), Kendall Oller, and Libby VanHouten; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Oller.

Marshall Heath Fiebich, 19, of Valley Center, KS, passed away on July 18, 2023.  He was born on May 23, 2004 to John and Kristi Fiebich in Wichita, KS.  Marshall graduated from Valley Center High School in 2022 with Magna Cum Laude Honors. He went on to study Fine Arts at Wichita State University.

Marshall was very passionate about Drawing!  Norman Rockwell was one of his favorite artists.  He enjoyed going to sketch club and the Wichita Fine Art Atelier.  He loved to do new adventures and travel alone and with family.  He also enjoyed running and completed 3 marathons a half marathon and a Ragnar relay race.  Throughout the years he participated in Soccer, Boy Scouts, Tennis and Cross Country.  

He is survived by his parents John and Kristi, sister Mallory, brother Mason, grandparents, Larry and Jeannine Nordstedt, Paul and Vi Fiebich, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 24 at Petersen Family Funeral Home in Newton.&nbsp;

The service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Family request to please dress in a casual attire, and to please avoid black clothing.

Robert Wayne “Bob” Williams, 71, of Hutchinson, died July 18, 2023, at Hospice House. He was born February 11, 1952, in St. Joseph, MO, to Howard and Charlyne (Kerns) Williams.

Bob attended schools in St. Joseph, Buhler High School, and Hutchinson Community College. He was a lumber broker for many years for Sitco Lumber, specializing in exotic hardwoods, and he also sold real estate with his wife, Debbi. Bob was most recently employed as a para-professional at McCandless and Morgan elementary schools, where he always had a “joke-of-the-day” to share and was affectionately known as “Mr. Bob.” Bob enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, golf, and tinkering in his garage - he was never not busy. Bob was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.

On February 8, 1969, he married Debbi Sue Flanders, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Wiley Stewart.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Crossroads Christian Church, 4310 N. Monroe. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s website, ccchutch.com.

Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

He was born February 11, 1952, in St. Joseph, MO, to Howard and Charlyne (Kerns) Williams.Bob attended schools in St. Joseph, Buhler High School, and Hutchinson Community College. He was a lumber broker for many years for Sitco Lumber, specializing in exotic hardwoods, and he also sold real estate with his wife, Debbi. Bob was most recently employed as a para-professional at McCandless and Morgan elementary schools, where he always had a “joke-of-the-day” to share and was affectionately known as “Mr. Bob.” Bob enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, golf, and tinkering in his garage - he was never not busy. Bob was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.On February 8, 1969, he married Debbi Sue Flanders, in Hutchinson. Robert Wayne “Bob” Williams |1952-2023|

Bill Dean Collins, 94, died July 18, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. &nbsp;He was born April 3, 1929, on a farm near Chetopa, KS, in Cherokee County, to Charles Cameron and Ora Crystal (Mordica) Collins.

Bill graduated from Columbus High School, Columbus, KS in 1947, and Kansas State University in 1951. He earned his master’s degree, in 1962, from the University of Wisconsin. &nbsp;Following graduation from KSU, Bill entered the United States Marine Corps in 1951. &nbsp;He served in Korea with the 1st Marine Division, 1st Signal Battalion, ANGLICO, from 1952 to 1953.&nbsp;

Following his military service, Bill accepted the position of Nemaha County 4-H Club Agent in Seneca, KS. &nbsp;His KSU Extension career included being the 4-H Agent from 1954-1958 in Seneca, and from 1958-1959 in Harvey County, Newton. &nbsp;From 1959 to 1965, Bill was the County Agricultural Agent for Harvey County and from 1965-1988, he was a Farm Management Association Fieldman, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Bill retired from the extension office in 1988. &nbsp;He then worked for Central Bank and Trust Company, in Hutchinson, for 10 years, retiring in 1998.&nbsp;

Bill was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and the Doers Sunday School Class. In addition, he was a member and past-president of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees), American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. &nbsp;Bill also was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and Alpha Zeta (an honorary fraternity), at Kansas State University.&nbsp;

On June 26, 1954, he married Mary Janet Smith, at the First Baptist Church, Hutchinson. &nbsp;

Bill is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of over 69 years, Mary Janet; son, James Dean “Jim” Collins (Mary Lee Stansifer), Denver, CO; daughter, Jana Kay Collins, Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Zoe Stansifer Collins and Zachary Dean Collins.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; a brother, Charles Jack Collins, and a sister, Marjorie Mary Collins.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. &nbsp;Military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps. &nbsp;Private family burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The family will greet friends at the church following his service.

Ramona Mary Gates, 84, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away July 18, 2023 at McPherson Hospital, McPherson Kansas.

Ramona was born in Silver City, New Mexico on January 13, 1939, the daughter of Miguel and Juana (Quintana) Esquivel.

Ramona attended St. Mary’s Academy in Silver City, New Mexico, first grade through high school. She received her Nursing degree at Mary Mount College in Salina, Kansas and a Bachelor’s degree at McPherson College.

Through the years Ramona worked as a RN at McPherson Hospital and then became Director of McPherson Area Council until she retired in 1993.

Ramona enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, cooking, going to her children's sporting events and spending time with her friends and family.

Ramona Mary Esquivel was united in marriage to Larry Lee Gates on June 10, 1961 in Concordia, Kansas. The young couple established their first home in Concordia. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Valerie, Ray and James.

Ramona is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Larry Gates, of McPherson, Kansas; her son, Ray Gates and his wife Debra, of Topeka, Kansas; three grandchildren, Deborah, Michael and Matthew Wilson and many great grandchildren.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Valerie Gates; her son, James Gates; her sister, Mary Helen; and her brother, David.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 5-7 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rosary at 9:30 am, with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating.

Burial will be held at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.

Margaret F. Page, 77, passed away in Hutchinson, KS, July 6, 2023. 

She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, July 9, 1945  to Vestal Reece and Laurafa (Singleton) Reece. Margaret is survived by her husband, Virgil Page; brother, Ed Reece; 3 nieces and 1 nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents. 

Margaret will be laid to rest in Fairlawn Burial Park.
