Velma Jean Davis, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS. She was born February 2, 1937, in Garden City, KS to Albert Logan and Izetta Ruth (Plemmons) Carter.

In 1955, Velma graduated from Topeka High School. On July 31, 1955, Velma married Charles I. Davis in Woodward, OK. Velma worked in the food service industry and worked for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and Good Samaritan. She also owned her own daycare for a short time. She was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church and later a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brothers, Charles Carter, Rev. Gerold Carter, Elmer Carter and Henry Carter; sisters, Pearl Metcalf, Edith Morrison, Betty Wilson, and Helen Sandoz.She is survived by her son Charles Leroy and wife Candace, Marinette, WI; three grandchildren, Heather Geer, David Davis and wife Anna, and Joel Davis, and two great grandchildren, Harper and Gemma Davis.

A funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Visitation will be 10 A.M to service time on November 27, 2023 at the funeral chapel.

Pamela "Pam" Jeanne Medlam passed away on November 6, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas.

Pam was born July 29, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas to Frances Marion Wirth. She was adopted at the age of 12 by Lorene Page and Clarence Howard Best. She was raised in the Wichita area where she attended school and was a 1952 graduate of North High School.

In 1953, Pam met Vernon Dallas Medlam and they were married in July of 1953. &nbsp;She shared the love for the outdoors with her spouse and children. &nbsp;She enjoyed family vacations that included camping and canoeing. &nbsp;Many family members fondly remember her talking about the Mini Bears, Pam’s name for chipmunks, and breathing in the smell of the camp fire. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Pamela spent her retirement years with her multiple grandchildren and close friends. &nbsp;She was well known to lovingly create quilts for all of her grandchildren. When she wasnt quilting or reading, she was outside tending to her yard.&nbsp;

Pamela was predeceased by her spouse Vernon Dallas Medlam and her granddaughter Nicole Duron. She is survived by her children Clinton Medlam, Paula Stewart, Jan (Sarah) Medlam, very dear friends Earl (Becky) Blanford, and Lisa Lomax (Ruby Menesini), 7 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. &nbsp; Pamela will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Per Pam’s request, there is no memorial service.

Lewis Oliver Twyford Jr. 77, died November 17, 2023, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born September 3, 1946, in Liberal, Kansas to Lewis Oliver Sr and Gene (Bryan) Twyford.&nbsp; On September 21, 1979, he married Paulette E. Hunter at Lyons, Kansas and she survives of the home.&nbsp;

Lew retired after 35 years from Eaton Corporation.&nbsp; He attended Wichita State University, Pittsburg State University and Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp; He served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of a search and rescue helicopter crew during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid guitarist and shared his love for music, creating lasting memories with family and friends. Lew was a compassionate man who had a deep love of animals. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of both two legged and four legged friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lew was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, and he leaves behind a legacy of caring and compassion to the next generation of family.

He is survived by his wife Paulette; daughters: Michelle (Shane) Guthrie; Wendy (Jim) Bockstoce; Kristy Twyford and Terri (Kevin) Davis; sister Judy Schremmer (Doug) and his cat Scruffy.&nbsp; He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Lew is preceded in death by his parents and sister Viola Twyford.&nbsp;

A graveside service with military honors will be announced at a later date and will be held in the Winfield Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the Caring Hands Humane Society and left with Petersen Funeral Home.

Garry P. Vogel, 81, passed away November 18, 2023, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion, Kansas. 

He was born January 4, 1942, in Hillsboro, Kansas, the son of Paul and Bertha (Bernhardt) Vogel. He was a 1959 graduate of Marion High School. He served his country with the United States Army Reserves. 

He was first married to Georgie Helmer, two daughters were born to this union. On September 15, 1979, he was united in marriage to Marcia Raleigh, they would blend their families. 

He was a farmer and cattleman, but was also a truck driver, water well man, butcher and manufacturer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter Darla Gore. 

He is survived by his wife Marcia Vogel of Marion; his daughter Jamie (James) McDonald of Wichita; his step-children: Ryan (Darci) Walker of McPherson, and Gail Boaldin of Marion; 12 grandchildren, and 25+ great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kansas. 

A private graveside service will be held at the Strassburg Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Quail Forever.

Sharon Parks was born October 18, 1933 to Earl and Frances (Gulick) Bigger in Hutchinson, Kansas. She passed away November 12, 2023 in Dallas, Texas, where she resided later in life to be with family.

Sherye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William (Bill) Parks, brothers, Keith Noll and Ernest Bigger, and her sons, Steven Whitehurst, Darren Blake Boling, and Lance Edward Parks.

Sharon is survived by her son, Roger (Sue) Parks, and 8 grandchildren.

Sharon spent most of her life in Hutchinson, and was always very active in the community. She was happily married to Bill for decades, and loved spending time with her family. She retired from Morton Salt after more than 40 years and served on the board for Hutch Fest. She was a member of the Beta Phi Sorority program, and was an active member of Temple Baptist Church and The Father's House, where she served as a greeter. 

Her kind spirit will always be remembered, as well as her love of cats.&nbsp;Sharon will be laid to rest in Hutchinson, Kansas, at Memorial Park Cemetery.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Bernice Catherine Petz, 96, passed away peacefully on Nov. 19 at Olathe Hospice House having spent the day with her children. 

Born Aug. 28, 1927, in Menlo, KS, she was the daughter of Frank &amp; Rose (Mannebach) Moos.

Bernice graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1945 and from Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, KS. She married Raymond Petz on Dec. 30, 1947,in Ellinwood and they were married nearly 63 years. He passed away Oct. 5, 2010.

A four-year resident of Olathe, KS, Bernice was a longtime Ellinwood resident.She enjoyed a successful career as a legal assistant with G.I. Robinson, Attorney at Law; and later retired as an Executive Assistant to the President of Barton County Community College.Bernice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as watching and attending sporting events including the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs,Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, and the Salina Liberty. She also followed her grand and great-grandchildren’s activities.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood; a member of the Altar Society; and the Daughters of Isabella, recognized for 75 years of service,including having served as Regent and State Regent.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth (Jean) Petz, Thomas (Susan) Petz, Merle Petz,and Carl (Melinda) Petz; daughters, Kay (Larry) Thompson, Carmen (Francis)Flax, and Melba (Dan) Detmer; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren; and sister Thelma (Moos) Cole; and several nieces and nephews. 

Bernice was preceded in death by husband Raymond Petz; her parents; brothers Gene, Richard and Larry; sisters Ermina Moos, Velma (Moos) Wornkey,and Delores (Moos) Bressler.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 27 at St. Joseph Church,Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood. Bernice Catherine Petz |1927-2023|

Patrick (Pat) Dean Streck, born April 27th, 1950 to Leonard and Joan (Powers) Streck, departed this life in true outdoorsman fashion and of natural causes, on a final pheasant hunt with friends, November 18th,2023.

He is preceded in death by the pheasant he had just harvested. Pat proudly served in both the Nebraska and Kansas National Guard, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, carrying on a family tradition of military service that extends back to the Spanish-American War. A Great Bend High School alumnus and former FHSU student, Pat pursued a successful career in sales. Starting as a traveling salesman for Brown &amp; Williamson Tobacco Co., he retired a very successful figure within the Kansas Agribusiness community. Even after retirement, Pat remained dedicated to the farming community, often working for some of the same people he once called on as customers, but now calls friends. 

Pat’s love of the outdoors is only surpassed by his love of family. On January 4, 1986, Pat married Cindie Moran and raised four (4) sons Stuart, Timothy, Kelly and Scott. Together Pat and Cindie dedicated their lives to seeing their boys grow and prosper into men with love of God, Family and Country. Pat served as an elder of St. John’s Lutheran Church, was a competitor in the local trap shooting league, he volunteered with 4-H youth shooting sports and taught many years as a Kansas Hunters Education instructor for the State of Kansas. 

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cindie; his sons Stuart (Jen) of Johns Creek, GA, Timothy (Tyra) of Newton, Kelly (Katie) of Lansing and Scott (Amy) of Spring Hill. Pat leaves behind seven (7) grandchildren, his pride and pure joy: Kristian (Johns Creek, GA), Alexandria and Vaughn (Newton), James and Ella (Lansing) and Claire and Natalie (Spring Hill); his brother Kevin Brown (Tucson, Arizona); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Grant and Rhonda Gaede. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Joan (Powers) Streck, and his special “adoptive” parents, Lyman and Esther Kruckenberg.

Funeral of Christian burial will be Saturday, November 25, 2023 @ 10:00AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ellinwood; Pastors Thierfelder and Abbott officiating. Interment will be in the Ellinwood cemetery immediately following the service.

David leaves behind his wife, Judy, son, David (Mary) Bartlett Jr, daughter, Angela (Jonathan) Wiest, step son, Shaun (Krystal) Fogg, brother, Bill (Bonnie) Bartlett, sisters, Diana (Bill) Barton, Pat (Marvin) Dunnigan, 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Janet Bartlett.

David was a proud veteran, serving in the Navy for many years. He served on the USS America, and was able to attend the Veterans Honor Flight to Washington D.C. last year.

In 1979, David moved back to Hutchinson where he stayed for the remainder of his life. He retired from Eaton after 27 years, giving him even more time to spend with his family. David loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved camping with the kids- including primitive camping trips with the black powder gun club. He was also a Scout Master. 

His family will cherish all of the grand memories with David-getting trinkets from his travels, like Kangaroos from Australia, or just being at home watching his Chiefs.&nbsp;

A funeral service will be held at Eastwood Church of Christ in Hutchinson, Kansas, Friday, November 24th at 11:00am.&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Moose Lodge 982 in care of Old Mission-Heritage Funeral Home.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Veo 'Louise' Sherbert born November 17, 1922 passed away peacefully Nov 4, 2023 at Sterling Village, Sterling, Kansas.

Louise was the first born to Arthur and Nita Hay of Aurora, in rural Cloud County Kansas. She graduated in 1941 from Miltonvale High School Miltonvale, Kansas.

Louise married George Fredrick Sherbert, also of rural Cloud County Kansas, on June 9, 1941. Afterward, they moved to Wichita for George to work for Cessna Aircraft.

George, Louise, and son Larry moved to Hutchinson, KS as George was one of the first 50 Cessna workers sent to Hutchinson to open the new Cessna Fluid Power plant.

George was drafted in 1944 into the US Army Airforce.&nbsp; After WWII, George, Louise, and 2 sons moved to Nickerson for George to work for Buel's Ford Garage. They bought some lots of land and built their home.

Louise was a member of Nickerson Homemakers club and PTA. Louise was a great cook at Slim's and Nell's restaurants and Nickerson Grade School.&nbsp; She was a Girl Scout leader, bookkeeper for the family's Sherbert Auto Repair in Nickerson, KS, and worked at Wells Department Store's fabric dept.

Louise was a member of the Christian Church in Nickerson and renewed her faith and was baptised again in 1971.&nbsp;

Louise retired in 1987 after 15 years of service at Cessna Fluid Power in Hutchinson, KS.

After retirement, Louise's mission in life was keeping in contact and caring for her family, loved ones, and friends.&nbsp; She was relentless in sending cards and letters of encouragement. She knew every birthday and anniversary by heart, as well as her life-long friends.

Louise was an excellent seamstress, hobbied all sorts of creative crafts and did extensive genealogy research to preserve her family's history.

Louise was preceded in death by husband George, mother and father, brother Clarence Hay of Kansas, sisters; Virginia Pearman of Nevada and Barbara Tucker of Kansas and 2 sons, Larry Gene of North Carolina and Gary Lee Sherbert of Kansas.

Remaining are Louise's daughter, Tomisha and son-in-law, Gerald Pittman of Lyons, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren and 1-great-great-great grandchild.

A&nbsp;memorial service will be held at a later date.

Eric E. Caldwell, age 52, of Manhattan, died November 14, 2023.

He was born March 30, 1971, in Leoti, Kansas, the son of Larry E. Caldwell and E. Louise Lomax.

Eric graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1989. He began his culinary career at Prairie Dunes Country Club and then moved to Manhattan, where he became an integral part of the food and beverage operations initially at Manhattan Country Club, and then for 12 years at Harry’s and Harry’s Catering. Most recently, he was co-owner and manager of Varsity Donuts, where he served as a mentor to his young team members, not only teaching them how to manage a well-run kitchen, but also imparting valuable life skills. He cared for his staff deeply, His job was his life.

Eric was a musician, artist, and incredible chef. He was humble but extremely accomplished. He will be missed greatly by the Manhattan restaurant community, his friends, and the many people whose lives he influenced.

Eric had a variety of interests and passions, including upholstery, History, his vintage watch collection and listening to Elvis and Johnny Cash.

Survivors include his mother Louise McIntire (Jim) of Buhler, KS; his father Larry Caldwell (AvNell Mayfield) of Shelton, WA; two brothers: Adrian Caldwell (Amanda) of Hutchinson, KS, and William Caldwell (Melissa Mallon) of Nashville, TN; three step siblings: Amy Danenberg (Brian) of Manhattan, Laura Goss (Jared Casanova) of Hutchinson, and Ian McIntire (Brittani) of Hutchinson; his half-brother Matthew Caldwell of Hutchinson; eight nieces and nephews: Coyote and Phoenix Caldwell, Melaina and Ryan Goss, Miles Danenberg, Brailey, Kinsley and Madilyn McIntire; and the many students that worked with him over the years that he considered his “kids.”

A Celebration of Eric’s Life will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 2nd, at the University Christian Church Auditorium, 2800 Claflin Road, Manhattan, with Andrew Jansen officiating.

Nathan “Nate” Schroeder, 67, died Nov. 15, 2023, at Harry Hines Hospice Memorial Hospice Center, Wichita. He was born Sept. 3, 1956, in Moundridge, the son of Herb and Linda Preib Schroeder. He received his bachelor of Ag and Business from Tabor College. He worked as a computer analyst. On May 3, 1986, he married Bonnie Janzen in Wichita. She survives.

Additional survivors include children, Natalie (Joshua) Chism, Spokane, WA, Cody (Jessica) Schroeder, Sedgwick, Emery (Jessica) Schroeder, Grandview, MO, and Valerie (Shandon) Classen, Liberal; a brother Herbert (Pauline) Schroeder, Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Miriam (Mark) Pauls, Inman; 5 grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Richard (Lorraine) Geist, Abilene.

Eugene Kay (Gene) Housholder, 81, of McPherson, KS, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his home.

Gene was born in rural Scandia, Kansas on January 12, 1942, the son of the late Paul Erwin and Helen Virgie (Johnson) Housholder.

Gene attended Union Valley District 39 country school and graduated from Belleville High School, Belleville, Kansas in 1959.

Through the years Gene worked for Riners RV, Rusty Eck RV, Augusta RV and Adventure RV, all of the Wichita area.&nbsp; Gene was the owner and operator of G.H. Electric of McPherson, Bypass Repair Shop, and did installation of siding.

During his high school years, Gene belonged to F.F.A.. Later in life, he was a member of, and a board member of the S.O.S.. He was also a member of the South Main A.A. group and Firehouse A.A.

Gene K. Housholder was united in marriage to Dru K. (Brantley) Romme on September 8, 1975 in Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; This union was blessed with a son, Dan and Dru's son and daughter, Michael and Dawn.

He is survived by his wife, Dru Housholder of McPherson, Kansas; sons, Ron Murdock of Houston, Texas, Darold (Christina) Housholder, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dan (Tonya) Housholder of Salina, Kansas, Mike (Danielle) Romme of Kingman, Kansas; daughter, Dawn Spainhour of McPherson, Kansas; sister, Linda Jamison, of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Elizabeth Spainhour, Caden Spainhour, Seth Spainhour, Sheridan Spainhour, Nicole Romme, Donald Romme, Cordell Housholder, Sydney Housholder, Brittnany Elliott, Billie Jean Coyle, Brantley Housholder and Audrina Lewis; great grandchildren, Jayce Gunn, Dylan Gunn and Grayce Gunn; and special friends, Peaches, Michael and Dawn Lewis; other relatives, many nieces and nephews and host of friends. &nbsp;

Bettye Joyce Stauts, 84, of Hutchinson, died November 14, 2023 at Hospice House. She was born October 3, 1939, in Marshall, TX, to Charleston Hargrove and Tennie Lee (Waldrop) Stauts.

Bettye graduated from Longview High School in 1957. She married James McMahan in 1958, and they raised their four children in Great Bend, Kansas. She was very involved in her children’s activities and various community events. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader, Camp Fire Girl Leader, Sunday School teacher, and PTA President for many years. She enjoyed cheering (loudly) at ball games and attending special school and church events. When the children were older, she worked for over 10 years as the office manager for a local orthodontist. &nbsp;

Bettye married James Phelps in 1980 and moved “back home” to Texas in 1981. &nbsp;While living in Texas, Bettye loved spending time with her friends, children, and grandchildren. She continued to work as a dental office manager until she finally retired at age 70. &nbsp;In 2012, she moved in with her eldest daughter and son-in-law in Hutchinson, where she immediately made new friends and discovered new activities. Bettye was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Hutchinson Public Library, attending 2 Bible study groups, and a monthly Book Club. &nbsp;She rarely missed “coffee” with her friends twice a week. She was always busy - except on Thursdays, which was her “Do -Nothin’ Day.” Bettye had a strong Christian faith and was a life-long Baptist. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

Bettye is survived by: children, Belinda Gayle (Gary) Bagby of Hutchinson, KS, James Bryan (Mary) McMahan of Sturgis, SD, Debra Lynn (Earl) VanRanken of Medicine Lodge, KS, Jerry Duane McMahan of Gilbert, TX; brother, Robert “Bobby” Lee (Mildred) Stauts of Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren, Jason (Tara) McMahan of Royse City, TX, Aubrey (Chris) Broach of Farmersville, TX, Michael (Jessie) Ashley of San Diego, CA, Ryan Keast of Winnemucca, NV, Katlyn West of Attica, KS, Kilie West of Wilmington, NC, Brianna Bagby of Topeka, KS; great-grandchildren, Keagen Broach, Levi Broach, Spencer McMahan, Tyler McMahan, Brooke McMahan, Holden Ashley, baby girl Ashley (due in February 2024), Elliot Solis, and Isabellah Solis. She continued to work as a dental office manager until she finally retired at age 70. &nbsp;In 2012, she moved in with her eldest daughter and son-in-law in Hutchinson, where she immediately made new friends and discovered new activities. Bettye was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Hutchinson Public Library, attending 2 Bible study groups, and a monthly Book Club. &nbsp;She rarely missed “coffee” with her friends twice a week. She was always busy - except on Thursdays, which was her “Do -Nothin’ Day.” Bettye had a strong Christian faith and was a life-long Baptist. Lila Harris, 96, of Goessel, Kansas passed away November 16, 2023 at Schowalter Villa. She was born January 16, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Voth.

She graduated from Goessel High School and received a Nursing Degree from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson, KS. Lila was a registered nurse at Kidron Bethel Nursing home, retiring in 1987.

Lila was united in marriage to Ernest Harris on September 13, 1948. He passed away June 20, 2001.

She was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church.

Lila is survived by three daughters, Andrea Baker of McPherson; Dallas Irene Schmidt and her husband Kenneth of Hutchinson; and Susan Elizabeth Harris of Council Grove; son, Olin Harris of Goessel; brother, Ernie Voth and his wife Rose of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son, Dr. James Harris, M.D.; two sisters, Marna Abrahams, and Norma Martinez; and a brother, Alfred Voth.

Gail Marie Stucky, 64, died surrounded by her family on Nov. 15, 2023, at Paramount Community Living in Newton, Kan. Gail was born on Mar. 9, 1959, in Newton, to Clarence and Gladys (Schmidt) Niles.

Gail grew up in Newton and attended Sunset Grade School. She graduated from Newton High School in 1977 and from Bethel College in 1981. She was a gifted student and won many honors in debate and forensics competitions. She completed her master’s degrees in librarianship and information management and arts and sciences at the University of Denver in 1983 and 1984, respectively.

She married Mark Stucky on July 24, 1982. They were married for 41 years and enjoyed many trips to national parks together with their children.

Gail began her career as a reference librarian at Wichita State University in 1984. She served as co-director of libraries at Bethel College from 1986 until her semi-retirement in 2019. She was an assistant coach of forensics at Bethel College and directed the program for one year. After her semi-retirement, Gail continued to support Bethel College forensics and other academic activities. She was also a long-time supporter of Moundridge High School’s debate and forensics team, coached by her husband Mark until his retirement.

Gail assisted with many wheat harvests on the family farm. She especially enjoyed caring for the farm’s pets - including beloved corgis, cats, and horses - and she and Mark even showed horses for a brief period early in their marriage.

Gail was a talented musician. She was a member of touring bell choirs in junior and senior high school and an accomplished pianist. She was especially gifted at the autoharp, which she played in Eden Mennonite Church’s worship band and a family band with her husband, performing at church services, weddings, funerals, and community fundraisers.

Gail was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. She enjoyed traveling, particularly hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colo., and touring England on a family trip. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Owen and Kira.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; son, Matt (Blaire Mayhue); daughter, Marike (Alex Igram); and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gladys Niles, and her sister, Jan.

A celebration of life is scheduled for both Gail and her mother, Gladys Niles, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at Shalom Mennonite Church in Newton. Willis Edwin Harder, 85, of rural Newton, Kansas died on November 15, 2023 at NMC Health

He was born on July 25, 1938 in Newton, Kansas, the oldest child of Edwin and Edna (Janzen) Harder.&nbsp; Willis attended a one room country schoolhouse and graduated from Newton High School in 1956.&nbsp; Willis spent the majority of his life on the family farm, but did spend two years working in Topeka, Kansas at a neurological hospital as a medical aide as well.&nbsp; After that time he was a welder and factory worker in addition to farming.

Willis was a life-time member of First Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas where he served as an usher.

On June 12, 1971 he married Anna Marie (Regier) Harder of First Mennonite Church in Halstead, Kansas.&nbsp; They were married 52 years.

Willis is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Harder; children, Jonn (Lisa) Harder and Carol (Tracy) Budde; grandchildren, Jacob Harder, Samuel Harder, Brylee Budde, and Brynn Budde; great grandchild Hadlee; sister Janice (Don) Regier; brother Richard Harder; and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Marlin Leroy.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, November 20,&nbsp;2023, at First Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas, with Pastor Luke Unruh officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 19th&nbsp;from 1-5 P.M., at Petersen Funeral Home, with family present from 3-5 P.M.&nbsp;&nbsp; A private burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.

 He was born November 29, 1965 in Marion to Gerald and Sharon (Youk) Kelsey.  He married Lori Vantuyl August 23, 1986 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. 

 Survivors include: wife, Lori Kelsey of Marion; sons, Jerry (Courteney) Kelsey of Hutchinson, Andy (Kathleen) Kelsey of Marion; daughter, Samantha Kelsey of Wichita; brother, Mike (Jennifer) Kelsey of Newton; sister, Kris Hardisty of Salina; mother, Sharon Kelsey of Marion; 4 grandchildren.

Lucretia Helene Nichols, 93 died November 14, 2023 at her home in Hutchinson, KS, surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 14, 1930 in Pawhuska, OK to Robert and Annie Alexander Boylan.

Lucretia graduated from Bookerteen High School in Pawhuska, OK. She attended Hutchinson Community College. She made Hutchinson, Kansas her home in 1952. She retired from the Law Enforcement Center in Environmental Services Department.

Lucretia was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she held the position of President of the Church Usher Board. She was a Lifetime member of the Hutchinson NAACP.

After retirement Lucretia enjoyed being a Community Historian and Arborist. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, walking, and attending the NJCAA men’s basketball tournament games.

Lucretia married Robert Eugene Nichols on May 17, 1959. Survivors include three sons, Bruce Sherod Nichols and Roger Ray Coffee, both of Hutchinson, KS, and Shawn Ray Coffee (grandson/son), Chicago, IL; brother Wayne Boylan, Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene Nichols in 1965; daughter, Laura Jean Ragsdale; son, Edward “Eddie” Tipton; two brothers, Napoleon Boylan and David Ough and three sisters, Augustus Ellison, Gwendolyn Carter, and Anna DeBaun.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 E 7th Ave Hutchinson, KS with the Reverend William J. Green, Sr. officiating. Ed was a 1975 graduate of Hutchinson High School. He was a department manager at Center Industries in Wichita. Ed was also the fire chief in Holcomb, Kanas for 10 years. He enjoyed auto racing and this was his main hobby. Ed also loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events.

On January 23, 1982, he married Shonna Martene Korte in Garden City. They shared 41 years of marriage together.

Ed is survived by: wife, Shonna Bartlett, Haven; daughters, Jenesis Bennett (Jon), Haven, Kristina Rohmeyer, Haven; honorary daughters, Sarah Coonce, Hutchinson, Amanda Girtman, Wichita; son-in-law, Adam Rohmeyer, Clearwater; grandchildren, Zoey, Eden, and Piper Bennett, Edith Rohmeyer, Morrigan and Alannah Burris; brothers, Wes Bartlett (Gwen), Les Bartlett (Judy), Topeka; many nieces and nephews; and his CIC Family.

Ferdinand “Fred” Werth, Jr., 85, died November 13, 2023, at The Arbors, Hutchinson. He was born October 3, 1938, in La Crosse, to Ferdinand and Lidwina Lydia (Hepp) Werth, Sr.

Fred graduated from Great Bend High School in 1958 and served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. During his service in the Navy, Fred designed and built bombing range targets. &nbsp;He retired as a welder with Krause Plow in South Hutchinson. Fred enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, his Harley Davidson, and working on his Chevy truck. He was a devout Catholic, attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Fred also participated yearly in the Hutchinson Christmas Parade Toys for Tots Motorcycle Drive.&nbsp;

Fred married Virginia “Ginger” Stutzman in November 2003. &nbsp;She passed away April 28, 2020.

Fred is survived by: his brother, Vernon (Diana) Werth of Colorado; his children, Katherine (Eugene) Wilbourn of Oklahoma and Michael J (Misty) Werth of Kansas; stepsons John (Amanda) and Chris (Gayle) Stutzman of Kansas; grandchildren, Tiffani (Robert) Glen, Kayla (Aaron) Butler, Megan (Lloyd) Welch, all of Oklahoma, Jesseca (John) Brady of Virginia, Ashley (John) Rios of Texas, Sydney Werth of Arizona, and Jordan Werth of Kansas; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by: his parents, Ferdinand and Lydia Werth; his brother, Robert; and his wife, Ginger.

Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 a.m., all at Elliott Mortuary, with both led by Father Eric M. Weldon. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Liebenthal, KS, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.&nbsp;

 </figure>Ferdinand “Fred” Werth, Jr., 85, died November 13, 2023, at The Arbors, Hutchinson. He was born October 3, 1938, in La Crosse, to Ferdinand and Lidwina Lydia (Hepp) Werth, Sr.Fred graduated from Great Bend High School in 1958 and served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. During his service in the Navy, Fred designed and built bombing range targets. &nbsp;He retired as a welder with Krause Plow in South Hutchinson. Fred enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, his Harley Davidson, and working on his Chevy truck. He was a devout Catholic, attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Miriam Grace Bailey, 96, died November 13, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born October 21, 1927, to Theodore Brown and Dolly (Widup) Brown.

Miriam was a graduate of Kingman High School, Kingman, KS, and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was a bookkeeper at Kingsley-Wagner Motor Supply Company, Hutchinson, KS, retiring with 25 years of service. &nbsp;Miriam was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, South Hutchinson, KS.

On October 18, 1947, she married Nathan William Bailey in Kingman, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 58 years of marriage, prior to his death on February 3, 2006.

Miriam is survived by: &nbsp;her daughters, Barbara Wroe, Jan Bailey, and Tammy (Randy) Augustine; brother, Duane Brown; grandchildren, Kyle (Emily) Green, Casey Green, Cheryl (Nord) Huseby, Holly Sticka, Brice (Chris) Wroe, Jeremy (Lori) Augustine, and Corey Augustine; and great-grandchildren, Angel (Carlo Earl) Sticka, Paris Sticka, Grace Huseby, Madyson Green, Kellen Green, Makynzie Green, Julia Wroe, Alex Wroe, Brysen Augustine, Camden Augustine, and Landen Augustine.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; husband; brother, Bob Brown; and sister, Shirley Green.
