Burtis "Burt" Lee Oblander, Newton, ventured off to a new hunting ground July 25, 2024. Burt was born June 18, 1950 to Virgil and Jean (Peters) Oblander who both precede him.

Burt graduated from Durham High School in 1968, then attended electrical classes in Newton. He started work at Guerdon's Manufacturing, McPherson, in the 60's, then to Patridges', Newton in the 70's. In the 80's he stared work at Kenworth, Wichita, specializing in diesel mechanics, retiring in 2013. Burt was also very proud to have taught various Hunter Safety classes over the years. After retirement, he kept busy with mower/small engine repair. due to is COPD, he was admitted to Paramount community Living, Newton, where he died after a month long stay.

Burtis married Judy Arellano in 1971, they were later divorced.

He is survived by his son Chris (Melissa) Oblander of Wichita; granddaughters Dalis Jarman (Kyle) of Springdale, AR, Haley Nevin, Elizabeth, CO, Harlee Oblander and grandson Isaac Oblander, Wichita. Also missing him are his siblings, Wendy Daniel (Peter), Beckenham, England, Gene Oblander (Janine), Greeley, CO, Kim Frantz (Jonas) Tampa, KS along with nieces, Julie Oblander, April Thompson, rachel Daniel, Sarah Daniel, 2 great-nephews and 1 great-niece and his Aunt Judi Dunn. As well as his special friends, Jimmie and Janie Knight and his best friend, Cinnamon.

Burt has chosen cremation and his celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas.
