Raymond G. “Ray” Sergeant, died July 25, 2024, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. He was born February 2, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA, to Robert and Mary (Bentley) Sergeant.
Ray graduated from Stafford High School in 1954 and served four years in the United States Navy. On December 25, 1955, he married Patty K. Curtis, in Clayton, N.M. Ray retired from Consolidated Manufacturing after 22 years as a machinist. He was the founder of Chicken Etc. and also owned and operated Sergeants Sip and Snack. Ray and Patty were big supporters of HCC Blue Dragon Basketball. They enjoyed being host parents to many HCC basketball players during the summer for many years. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed boating, camping, and traveling.
Ray is survived by: his wife, Patty Sergeant, Hutchinson; son, James R. “Jim” (Liz) Sergeant, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Sandi (Gary) Bishop, Hutchinson, Chris (Michelle) Sergeant, Grove, OK, and Shawn (Tisha) Mears, Hutchinson; 10 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rebecca Elam; granddaughter, Sabrina Martin; and brother, Robert Sergeant.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
