Merwin Frye passed away from this life on February 26, 2024, at the age of 88, and he wants you to know that his work here is done. &nbsp;He received a call at his home in Schowalter Villa, Hesston, Kansas; an offer one can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. &nbsp;This assignment came with security and a faithful promise: &nbsp;a reunion with family and friends Merwin had not seen in a long time. &nbsp;

Born and raised in Little River, Kansas, he was of German-Austria-Scottish decent; Merwin was hardened on the outside, but warm and caring in the middle. &nbsp;The first of two children born to Ross Birchard and Martha Elizabeth (Willinger) Frye in Little River, Kansas on October 15, 1935, he grew up living on a small farm near Little River. &nbsp;After his school years as a Little River Redskin, Merwin chose to continue his education and graduated from Adela Hale Business College in Hutchinson. &nbsp;

In December 1958, a young, registered nurse, named Lenna Reynolds, whisked him off his feet to the altar in the First Baptist Church, Hutchinson, Kansas where he was a church member. &nbsp;Merwin was an office employee of Morton Salt Company, South Hutchinson, Kansas, for over 40 years, working as a traffic clerk. &nbsp;After Merwin retired from Morton Salt Company, he and Lenna moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where they lived for almost twenty years before moving to Hesston, Kansas.&nbsp;

Merwin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Eldon Dee and Sue (Sponamore) Frye. &nbsp;

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lenna Frye of Hesston, two sons: &nbsp;Robin Ross Frye (Karen) of Lewisville, Texas, and Rick Erwin Frye (Alma) of Grand Prairie, Texas, one granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane Frye, four step-grandchildren, Rachel Diaz, Michael Diaz, David Diaz, and Elizabeth Diaz, and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Merwin was one with many varied interests in life. &nbsp;He served in various capacities in his church which included almost 40 years as a door greeter, various committees, youth sponsor, Sunday School teacher, deacon, and usher. &nbsp;Merwin played basketball in high school and fast pitch softball for the Morton Salt Team. He served as an assistant baseball coach, was a hunter-safety instructor for over 25 years, a supporter of the Shriners hospital in St. Louis, and belonged to the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Consistory. &nbsp;He loved to golf and was an avid golfer in his retirement years. &nbsp;Merwin also served on the Bella Vista Golf committee, Village Pride Committee to beautify Bella Vista, and the cemetery board. He belonged to Forest Hills Church in Bella Vista and upon moving to Hesston, he joined the Little River Congregational Christian Church.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Bean Cemetery, Little River, with Pastor Ted Weis of the Little River Congregational Church officiating. &nbsp;Masonic honors will also be conducted.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little River Congregational Church in Little River or the Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchison, KS &nbsp;67501.&nbsp;

Donald Leslie Bahr, 77, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Marquette, KS (Kanopolis Lake), peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp;

Donnie was born on August 27, 1946, in McPherson, KS, the son of Virgil Laverne and Mildred Pauline (Theleman) Bahr.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School.&nbsp;

He served in the Kansas Army National Guard and worked as an electrician.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Mardell &amp; Jeff White of Lake Havasu City, AZ.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wade Arlin Gaeddert, MD, who passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the age of 58. His final moments were spent in the serene embrace of Princeville, Hawaii, on the picturesque island of Kauai, where he and his beloved wife, Angie, were enjoying a peaceful vacation.

Born on March 27, 1965, in the town of Moundridge, KS, Wade was the son of Arlin Dean and Beverly Anne (Wiegand) Gaeddert. After graduating from Inman High School in 1983 and Bethany College (Lindsborg) in 1987, he pursued the noble path of healing, earning his doctorate degree from the University of Kansas Medical School. He would later further his medical expertise during his residency in Columbia, MO. &nbsp;

During his transformative years at Bethany College, fate intertwined his journey with that of Angela Karen Poss, his soulmate. Their union in marriage took place in 1990 in Angie’s hometown of Hugo, CO.

Dr. Gaeddert served the McPherson community for many years as an ear, nose, &amp; throat specialist, working in the McPherson branch of the Hutchinson Clinic. &nbsp;His reputation as a caring and skilled health care provider was widely known, bringing patients from near and far to seek his medical expertise. &nbsp;Along with being a devoted doctor, he wholeheartedly loved his family. &nbsp;He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, and most recently, a grandfather who relished every moment spent with his grandchildren. &nbsp;Wade was humble and inclusive, genuinely caring for those around him. &nbsp;

Wade possessed an abiding affection for the great outdoors, whether it be snow or water skiing, traversing landscapes through hiking, or finding solace by the lakeside. Many cherished moments were often with the company of family and friends, singing karaoke and creating everlasting memories.

Wade leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion and is survived by his cherished wife of 34 years, Angie, and their three children: Nichelle (Nate) Chastain and their children, Otto and Hugo, of Kansas City, MO; Brooke (Ethan) Fowler and their daughter, Maren, of Jackson, MS; and William (Louie) Gaeddert of Lenexa, KS. &nbsp;Other family members include his siblings: Wylene (Doug) Lengel of McPherson, KS; Dawn (Gary) Belknap of Elkhorn, NE; and Keena (Michael) Leochner of Lee’s Summit, MO; his step-father, Loren Regier of Inman, KS; and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, colleagues, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arlin Gaeddert; mother, Beverly Gaeddert-Regier; and an infant brother, Lyle Dean.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2024, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church. &nbsp;A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, March 9, at 10:00 AM, also at the First United Methodist Church, with a burial following at the North Inman Cemetery.

Eva Mary Gordon, of Inman, Kansas, passed away on February 8, 2024, Prairie View Homes, at 80 years old.

Eva was born in Gardner, Massachusetts, to Warren Royal Gordon and Eleanor Edith Paige, on February 14, 1943. She went to Belfast Area High School and got her GED in 1982. Then she went on to school to be a home health aide.&nbsp; 

In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts such as knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. She really enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.Eva is survived by her 4 daughters, Rose Logue and Amy Peters of Kansas, Kathy Dehne of Wisconsin, and Tina Geisler of Colorado, her brother, Terry Wayne Gordon of Florida, and her sister, Linda Gerald of Massachusetts.&nbsp;She is preceded in death by her mother and father, two sisters, Cheryl Teel and Patricia Donnely, brother, Ronald Wayne Gordon, and her daughter, Candice L Tozier.Remembrance will be held at 1816 E Ave G, Hutchinson, KS, the home of Rose M Logue, Saturday, February 24th.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Virginia (Drapal) Bishop was born August 7, 1937 on a farm outside of Cuba, Kansas to Peter and Helen (Havel) Drapal. She had one brother Lavern and sister Ilene.&nbsp; &nbsp;

She shared memories of her childhood, like facing off with a mean barnyard rooster which was soon made for Sunday dinner. &nbsp;She also encountered with their bull on one day that she was playing outside in her pretty ‘red’ dress and found being chased around the pasture by him, boy he could run! &nbsp;They worked hard on their farm from putting up hay to cleaning pens. Yet, there was always time for mischief like mudslinging, cow pie contests and seeing who could swing the highest in the tire swing hanging from the bit oak tree. All the kids loved riding down the stairs on the feather tic while hanging on for dear life. Also for in home entertainment was popping popcorn in the fireplace and playing ‘hide the thimble’. She loved and cherished those times.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Hard work and determination to do a good job aided her success in various jobs as babysitter, telephone operator, sales associates and department head. Her bosses always praised her and appreciated her hard work.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Virginia is survived by raising her three children with a firm hand. Brenda, Mona and Bruce were awesome but onery. &nbsp;Her ‘look’ and pointed fingers meant you were toast.&nbsp; &nbsp;

She met and married Ed Bishop at Miltonvale in 1965, enjoying 47 years of marriage. They lived in the Wichita and Valley Center area. Farm life was in their blood, they raised livestock, farmed and gardened. She had started babysitting in Wichita when at the Fireside Inn Trailer Park. &nbsp;She was pretty darn good at it, also teaching her girls how to care for small children which helped them to be great moms. &nbsp;Later they moved to the ‘Snackenberger’s Farm where she started her own business babysitting, child care and her egg business. You would find her many nights in the kitchen scrubbing the eggs for which she had a lot of customers. &nbsp;The smell of lilacs coming through her window while she was working is a treasured memory. She motivated her kids to work in her garden pulling weeds, planting and hoeing &nbsp;which were not their favorite thing to do. They helped with and learned ‘canning’ by picking and preparing food to keep stocked for the winter. She was very good at this, but one may worry that it sounded like the pressure would blow in the process, yet never did.&nbsp; &nbsp;

After moving down the road to the “30 acres” we continued to farm, bale hay and raise livestock. She hated chasing those cows. Once when she got kicked by a cow, she threw down her hat, went to sit down and have a beer (which she called her nerve medicine). She canned in her sparetime and cooked very delicious meals, both traits passed on to her children which helped in their marriages. Sewing was not her favorite thing, but she could hem pants with the best of them.&nbsp; &nbsp;

A few years later when she stopped babysitting and being a full time homemaker, she worked various jobs as a sales associate, department head, overnight stocker with Walmart where she retired from after many years. &nbsp;In retirement she loved to play bingo every Sunday at the 101 Club on W. 101st Street N. &nbsp;She even had her own nameplate and seat, which no one dared to sit in her spot. Boy! was she lucky, and she kept the stubs for all her winnings of the big spot. She even got one daughter into the bingo fever, but not both. She also enjoyed movie night at her house with her family and eating out up until covid hit. One of her favorites was Chinese food.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Our Mom was the greatest! She listened well, careful not to give too much advice. She enjoyed people and was always kind to those she met. Her winning smile was one of her most loveable features. &nbsp;She will be missed forever, may she rest in peace.

Virginia is survived by her children Bruce (Melissa) Carver of Wichita, Mona Whiteside of Newton and Brenda (Dennis) Chopp of Belleville; grandchildren Michelle (Grant) Stucky, Jennifer (Steve) Rubbottom, Ryan (Chelsea) Carver, Melissa (Jonathon) McCook, Karsyn Carver, Noah Whiteside, Gena Martin, Hannah Whiteside and Christina (Christopher) Engelhardt; great grandchildren Aspyn Stucky, Alleigh Stucky, Ben Carver, Blake Carver, Ryden Carver, Haddie Rubbottom, Maisie Rubbottom, Greyson McCook, Lachlan McCook, Anna Engelhardt, Willow Engelhardt and Perrin Engelhardt; many other family and friends. &nbsp;She was preceded by her parents, brother Lavern Drapal and sister Ilene Skipton.

Family services will be held at Highland Cemetery.

Boy! was she lucky, and she kept the stubs for all her winnings of the big spot. She even got one daughter into the bingo fever, but not both. She also enjoyed movie night at her house with her family and eating out up until covid hit. One of her favorites was Chinese food.&nbsp; &nbsp;Our Mom was the greatest! She listened well, careful not to give too much advice. She enjoyed people and was always kind to those she met. Jaunita was born on September 2, 1931, in Clear Creek, Missouri, to Carlos and Minnie Snyder. Her journey led her to Wichita and Valley Center, Kansas, where she shared a fulfilling life with her husband, Edward Capps, whom she wed on April 10, 1949.

A matriarch through and through, Jaunita's life was beautifully woven with the threads of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorthy Greider; her husband, Edward; her sons, Steve and Edward, Jr.; her daughters, Linda and Karen.

Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Debbie Sizemore; her son, Dale Capps; her eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Jaunita, a North High School graduate from Wichita, KS, was a woman of dedication, having established and operated Ruth’s Carryout with her husband. She was a valued employee at Kreonite and later delighted many as a cook in the Valley Center, KS public schools.

Her home was a hub of hospitality, filled with the aromas of her lovingly prepared meals and the beauty of her tended flowers and garden. Retirement brought her cherished moments, including adventures to Disney World and a memorable Mexican cruise with her daughters.

A visitation to honor Jaunita's life will take place at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center, on March 5, 2024 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm.&nbsp;

Amy L Wiechmann passed away Feb 21, 2024, in Wichita Ks at the age of 97.&nbsp; She was born Jan 3, 1927, on the family farm near Dresden KS to parents Joseph and Ella (Heilman) Krizek. Amy was joined in marriage to Karl F Wiechmann on Jan 12, 1947. &nbsp;Karl and Amy settled and built their family home near Valley Center, Kansas where they were joined with the birth of daughter Aleta.

In her earlier years, Amy enjoyed her and Karl’s time with Eastern Star and the Wichita Midian Shriners, traveling, gardening, home projects and dancing. Many nights Karl and Amy could be found with friends at local dances. As Aleta grew older, they often accompanied her traveling across the state while she was active in the Rainbow Girls and various school events.&nbsp;

Later in life, Amy continued her work as a homemaker, gardener, and was a grocery store demonstrator for over 40 years. She worked for Demonstrations Unlimited in local Dillons stores for many years.

Amy enjoyed working around the home and tending to her ever-growing flower gardens. &nbsp;She would spend several hours each day working around her property fixing fence, painting and visiting and caring for the many horses that were boarded on her property over the years. When the weather was not favorable for her to be outside, she enjoyed crafting, sewing and crocheting. She well known for her patchwork double knit blankets that she would create for her family and her ladies group charities. Amy was a strong willed and independent woman; she worked outside of the home and was still driving up until her early 90’s.&nbsp;

Amy was a member of several women’s organizations over the years but was most proud to be a 50-year member of the Valley Center Chapter #237 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Riverview EHU and National Association of Letter Carriers Ladies Auxiliary. &nbsp;&nbsp;

She will be remembered for her love of birds and flowers as well as her knack for doing promotions, no matter the oddity of the product, as well as her Crazy Christmas tradition.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Wiechmann, parents Joseph and Ella Krizek; sisters Elenora Edgett, Margaret Vacura, Sylvia Neel; brother Dale Krizek and niece Diana McCarbrey.

Sandra J. Knowles, 79, passed away to be with her husband on their anniversary, Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita, KS. &nbsp;She was born March 8, 1944, in Holt, Missouri, the daughter of Denton C. and Effie Regina (Cheek) Kelp.

On February 25, 1984, Sandra married Ernest “Ernie” Knowles, in Fredonia, Kansas. They shared 19 years of marriage together before he passed away in 2003. &nbsp;Sandra enjoyed crafts, gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. &nbsp;She spent some of her free time watching Sci-Fi and the Food Channel. &nbsp;She attended Church of Christ in Hutchinson.

More than anything, our mom’s unwavering faith in God sustained her through all of life’s trials and tribulations. &nbsp;Mom would always say “believe in God and give him a change.” &nbsp;Until we meet again Mom, we love you.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie; and a sister, Sharon “Gypsy”.

She is survived by her children, Jack D. Shumard, Tracie Shumard, and Andrea L. (Wes) Weed; half siblings, Gary Strnad and Carol Brown; grandchildren, Brandon and Kirsty (Sebastian); and six great grandchildren.

Scott graduated from Hutchinson High School. He worked as a production laborer for Kansas Oxygen, now known as Airgas, for 33 years. He then went on to work as a custodian for Faris Elementary School.

Scott enjoyed gardening, watching sports, and coaching baseball and softball. He loved camping, fishing, and having cookouts, especially when it was with his family. More than anything, Scott treasured his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Scott is survived by: his children, Josh (Nicole) Barnett, Andrew Barnett, Brittany Barnett all of Hutchinson; ex-wife, Jody Barnett of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Gavin Barnett- Barr, Jordyn Barnett, Dexton Barnett, Colin Barnett, Avery Black all of Hutchinson; brothers, Richard (Melyn) Barnett, Brian (Dorothy) Barnett both of Hutchinson; sister, Kathy Heinlein of Goddard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tyrese Von Dale Moore, 24 passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. &nbsp;Tyrese was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on January 6, 2000, the son of Dawn Markel and Daniel Moore, Jr.

Throughout Tyrese's life, he loved many things but above all his biggest accomplishment was being a full-time father to his beautiful daughter, Zayla Michelle Moore. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and working out. He had many hobbies and businesses including Sangre De Cristo Locksmith and Moore Spore Store. He was a mycologist and had developed alternative therapies to help those struggling with mental and physical issues as well as people struggling with addiction. Tyrese was a loving and kind man with many friends and family from every walk of life. He loved without judgment or prejudice.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Daniel Moore Jr. (2023); his grandmother, Tina Moore (2013,) and his brother, Artadius Moore (2024).

He is survived by his daughter, Zayla Michelle Moore; his mother, Dawn (Montgomery) Markel; his brothers, DeAndre (Carissa) Hedrick, Ethan Moore, Daytryan Moore and Lyrik Ruane; sisters, Tesa Moore (Arlo Garner), Holly Dilbeck, Madison Atkins and Sawyer Barkley; grandparents, Dexter and Brenda Hedrick and great grandmother, Audrey Hedrick along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will not be a public visitation as cremation has been chosen. Services will be held at New Resurrection Church 1500 Forrest St, Hutchinson, KS 67501 on Saturday March 16, 2024, at 1 PM with Pastor Charles R. Crumble Sr. presiding.  </figure>Tyrese Von Dale Moore, 24 passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. &nbsp;Tyrese was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on January 6, 2000, the son of Dawn Markel and Daniel Moore, Jr.Throughout Tyrese's life, he loved many things but above all his biggest accomplishment was being a full-time father to his beautiful daughter, Zayla Michelle Moore. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and working out. He had many hobbies and businesses including Sangre De Cristo Locksmith and Moore Spore Store. He was a mycologist and had developed alternative therapies to help those struggling with mental and physical issues as well as people struggling with addiction. Tyrese was a loving and kind man with many friends and family from every walk of life. He loved without judgment or prejudice.He was proceeded in death by his father, Daniel Moore Jr. (2023); his grandmother, Tina Moore (2013,) and his brother, Artadius Moore (2024).He is survived by his daughter, Zayla Michelle Moore; his mother, Dawn (Montgomery) Markel; his brothers, DeAndre (Carissa) Hedrick, Ethan Moore, Daytryan Moore and Lyrik Ruane; sisters, Tesa Moore (Arlo Garner), Holly Dilbeck, Madison Atkins and Sawyer Barkley; grandparents, Dexter and Brenda Hedrick and great grandmother, Audrey Hedrick along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.There will not be a public visitation as cremation has been chosen. Carolyn Jean (Sasse) Gillen, 79, died February 25, 2024, at Reflection Living Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born September 1, 1944, in Smith County to Albert Sasse and Rosina (Zabel) Sasse.

Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of Gaylord High School, Gaylord, KS. &nbsp;She graduated in 1966 from Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS, with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics. &nbsp;She worked at TECH, Inc. as an admissions counselor, retiring with over 30 years of service. &nbsp;Carolyn was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, KS.

On November 25, 1972, Carolyn married Robert ‘Bob’ Ignatius Gillen in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 44 years of marriage, prior to his death on January 9, 2017.

She is survived by: &nbsp;her children, Stuart (Ginger) Gillen of Leander, TX, Christine (Jeff) Schletzbaum of Hutchinson, KS, and Gretchen Gillen of Saint Louis, MO; grandchildren, Kayla Gillen, Sydney Gillen, Zachary Schletzbaum, Gillian Schletzbaum, and Tyler Schletzbaum; and sister, Arlene Benn of Smith Center, KS.

Gary P. Geist, 80, of Hutchinson, died February 23, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born January 4, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Wilbur Paul and Willdene (Miller) Geist.

Gary graduated from Boulder High School, Boulder, CO, in 1963. During his life, he worked for Mid America Pipeline and local school districts as a janitor, amongst others. Gary enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching, and his dogs, Lacy and Pedro. His humor and love will be missed.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Gary was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

On March 27, 1991, he married Janice Pauline Ratlief in Hutchinson. They shared over 32 years of marriage before his passing.

Gary is survived by: his wife, Janice “Jan” Geist, Hutchinson; son, Russell “Rusty Geist, Derago, CO; daughter, Deborah May (Charles) Castinado, Hoover, Alabama; step-son, Don (Cindy) Gruver, Newton, KS; step-daughter, Blythe (Tim) Wilkinson, Hutchinson; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly Ray.

Kenneth Herman Rose, 90, of Hutchinson, died February 22, 2024, at Welsey Towers, Hutchinson. He was born June 17, 1933, on the family farm near Bloomfield in Knox County, NE, to Herman Philip and Emma (Hinzmann) Rose.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, having volunteered for the draft to earn the GI Bill, and then learned that was a hazardous way to fund an education. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy and joined the USDA Soil Conservation Service (SCS), now known as the &nbsp;Natural Resources Conservation Agency. He worked for SCS for the next 37 years in several northeast Nebraska locations before transferring to Rochester, MN, and eventually Hutchinson, KS. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the American Legion Lyle Rishel Post #68, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the National Rifle Association. Kenneth enjoyed employing his creativity with wood-working and stained-glass projects, which he normally gifted to family and friends. &nbsp;He also enjoyed his weekday morning coffee gatherings with friends at Spangles Restaurant, and the activities and events offered at the Delos V Smith Senior Citizens Center and Foundation.

On December 22, 1955, he made what he felt was the best decision of his life and married his Bloomfield High School sweetheart Vivian Boland. Their oldest child Douglas Kenneth Rose was born in 1959 and succumbed to a glioblastoma brain cancer in 2010. &nbsp;In addition to Vivian, Kenneth is survived by daughter, Kellye Jean Rose and her husband Brent Gregoire of Burnsville, MN, daughter-in-law, Erica Bergsland of Edina, MN, &nbsp;grand-children Emily Rose Nghiem and her husband Huy Nghiem (Denver CO), Henry Douglas Rose (Venice CA), Matthew Boland Gregoire and wife Emilie Gregoire (Saint Louis Park MN), Benjamin Ryan Gregoire (Burnsville MN), great-grandson Tye Douglas Nghiem, brother Raymond Rose of Onawa IA, brother-in-law Herman T. Boland II of McLean Va, sister-in-law Laurie Gulbranson (Helena MT), 24 nieces and 19 nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his son Douglas, his parents, eight sisters, and one brother, 3 nieces and 7 nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial graveside service will be held in Bloomfield NE at a later date.

Carolyn A. Mildfelt, age 79 went home to be with the Lord on the 24th day of February 2024, in Hutchinson, KS. She was born August 1, 1944, in Leavenworth, KS, the daughter of Lucian Baker (Sarge) Wilson and Dorthy M. Wilson.

In 1951, Carolyn moved to Hutchinson and attended schools in Hutchinson and received her GED. She went on to attend nursing school in McPherson where she obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate of class 23. She went on to work in area nursing homes and private duty nursing. She married Gerald Lee Martin on December 10, 1959, in Newton, KS and later divorced. She remarried Walter Mildfelt Jr. On March 22, 1981, in Hutchinson, KS and was preceded in death on May 26, 2000. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church of Hutchinson and attended other churches in the area as well.

She is survived by one son, Gerald (Jerry) Martin Jr. Of the home; two daughters, Lucinda (Cindy) Miller of Onaga, KS and Lori Strong (Rick Sands) of Rogers, AR; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and family friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her late husband Walt; son, James Christopher Martin; son-in-law, Scott Miller; brother, Larry Ray Miller, and granddaughter, Brandi Dawn Martin.

Janet Sue Regehr, 81, passed away February 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 3, 1942 in Garden City, KS, the daughter of Guy and Doris Rosington Green. She was a 1960 graduate of Hutchinson High School. She married Arlin Regehr on April 21, 1961 in Hutchinson, after falling in love quickly. He passed away July 29, 2000.

Janet was a caregiver by nature with a lifelong joy of sharing love and compassion for others. In her professional career, Janet had been a CNA at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and then a bookkeeper at Penner’s Feed and Supply. Later, she provided in-home childcare, and touched countless lives of her daycare families. She would later retire from Pleasant View Home, where she worked as a dietary aide.

Loyal always, Janet enjoyed close family relationships to span generations and friendships that lasted lifetimes. She loved to take traveling bus trips with her favorite buddies, Kay and Eva, was a member of the Inman Mennonite Church and the Inman Lions Club. Janet will always be remembered for her witty humor and generous heart. She loved and appreciated everyone she knew and cared deeply for all.

Survivors include her children, Susan (Regehr) Achilles, Hutchinson, Bradley Regehr, South Hutchinson, and Rock (Sheila) Regehr, Hutchinson; 2 brothers, Donald Green, Inman and David Green, South Hutchinson; a sister, Cheryl Green, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Tyler (Dalton) Achilles, Erin Achilles, Jordan (Alex) Mains, Kylie Regehr, Zachary (Brooke) Regehr, and Grace Regehr; 6 great grandchildren, and generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, a brother, Dennis Green, and her beloved cat, Jack, of nearly 20 years.

Theresa Catherine “Teri” Goodwin, 90, of Berthoud, Colorado, passed away February 22, 2024, at her home. 

She was born October 28, 1933, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Silvio Felix and Katie (Altieri) Roncace. Teri has resided in Berthoud since 2018, formerly of Peoria, Arizona, Longmont, Colorado, and Granada Hills, California. She graduated from Norristown High School in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Teri worked as an escrow officer in real estate for many years. On November 14, 1964, Teri was united in marriage with Vinnie Garold “Jerry” Goodwin Jr. in Van Nuys, California. They loved to go dancing and play golf. Teri was a past member of the Fox Hill Country Club in Longmont, Colorado and Westlake Village in Peoria, Arizona. She was a devout Catholic stemming from her family and education at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Norristown Pennsylvania. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. 

Teri is survived by her husband, Jerry of Berthoud, CO; daughter, Vikki Proctor and husband Mark of Berthoud, CO; step-son, Doug Goodwin of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Teri is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Armand E. Roncace, Silvio A. Roncace, Peter J. Roncace, and Joseph P. Roncace; and seven sisters, Rose Santori, Anna Roncace, Congetta Roncace, Natalie Strouse, Eleanor Aston, Rita Busch, and Mary Roncace-Busch-Abbey. Debra D. Buss, 71, died February 22, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 29, 1952, in Hardtner, KS, to Marvin L. and Lila Bell (Knox) Buss.

Debra graduated from Newton High School. She worked out of her home as an upholsterer, refurbishing furniture and car interiors. Debra enjoyed going to garage sales and acquiring trinkets. Debra was a huge fan Elvis Presley and her vinyl collection included many of her favorites of his and artists of Motown. Debra loved dancing, making jewelry and Betty Boop.

Debra is survived by: fiancée, Lance Culver; daughter, Tonya Bradshaw; son, Nathan (Cassie) Porter, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Tevin Bradshaw, Bryce Jones, Natalie Porter, Landon McClintock all of Hutchinson, Makayla (Reilly) Tobias of Nebraska; sisters, Kathy (Greg) Mason of Halstead, and Tina (Carl) Whitworth of Woodward, OK; and numerous cousins.

Kenneth R. “Ken” Willard, 75, formerly of Hutchinson, passed into heaven on February 24, 2024. He was born July 4, 1948, in Miami, OK, to Rev. Kenneth L. and Betty L. (Skaggs) Willard.

Ken was a 1966 graduate of Overland Christian High School, Overland Park. In 1968, he answered Uncle Sam’s call and joined the U.S. Navy, serving until 1972. Ken was stationed aboard the USS Ogden, off the coast of Vietnam, and then spent two years at the Naval Air Station, Key West, FL.

On December 26, 1970, he married Deanna Kramer, in Melvern. They shared 53 years of marriage. They adopted a baby girl, Tara Suzanne, in January, 1980. A daughter, Tamra Dyan, was born to them in October, 1981. In 1994, they adopted two brothers and a sister: Shawn Michael (10), Wayne Jordan (8), and Kymena RaeAnn (6).

Ken had a love of politics and completed a political science degree from Washburn University in 1982. He served on the USD 309 school board and on the Kansas State Board of Education for 16 years, a term as President of the National Association of State Boards of Education, as well as various local offices with the Republican Party.

Ken had a 40-year distinguished career as an insurance adjuster, agent, and district sales manager, mostly with American Family Insurance. He was a member of the All-American 25-Year Hall of Fame.&nbsp;

Ken’s main passion was sharing Christ through the church. He was a soloist, choir director, church board member, and also went on many Work &amp; Witness trips to Haiti, Brazil, Sri Lanka, and Fiji, helping with building projects and showing the Jesus Film. Ken was a long-time board member of Kansas Christian College. He and Deanna were members of RV’s On A Mission (ROAM), traveling to church campgrounds from Arizona to Florida to help on work projects.

Ken is survived by: his wife, Deanna; mother, Betty Willard, Hutchinson; daughters, Tara Willard, Hutchinson, Tamra Munguya (Womba), Monument, CO, Kymena Silmon (fiancé Siraj Siddique), Wichita; sons, Shawn Willard (Maria), Gilmer, TX; Wayne Willard (Samantha), South Hutchinson; grandsons, Clay Eckert, Dylan Willard, Dederick Willard-Trass, Dontrell Willard-Trass, Trenton Willard, Caleb Willard, Chayvin Willard, Donnell Willard-Silmon; granddaughters, Kyah Munguya, Arianna Munguya, Ileah Munguya, Michaela Willard, Kelcie Willard, Linzey Willard, Sarah Willard-Silmon, Anna Silmon; great-grandchildren, Izayah Willard, Lehlani Willard; brothers, Gerald Willard (Glenda), Leonard Willard (Jennifer), sister, Ruth Croy (Jeff); sister-in-law, Ginna Willard; five uncles and their spouses; two aunts; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and brothers Glen Willard and Charles Willard.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Inspire Church (formerly First Church of the Nazarene) 4290 N. Monroe, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors conducted by United States Navy Honor Guard.

Shirley Ann Kelly, 78, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away at 6:10 am, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Pine Village, Moundridge, KS.

Shirley was born in McPherson, Kansas on April 13, 1945, a daughter of Eli H. and Ann E. (Kaufman) Koehn.

Shirley attended McPherson grade schools and graduated from McPherson High School,McPherson, Kansas in 1962.

Through the years Shirley worked at Farm Bureau as a bookkeeper, worked at Holiday Manor, Wendy, Copeland Supply and was an owner operator of a cleaning company.

Shirley enjoyed baking, cooking, needle point, loved her animals, Bingo and spending time with her friends and family.

Shirley Ann Koehn was united in marriage to William R. Hall on September 16, 1965 in McPherson, KS.She is survived by her children, Jay, Hall(Melissa), of &nbsp;Warrensburg, MO, Shirlene Clayton(David), of &nbsp;McPherson, KS and Wade Hall, of McPherson, Ks.

She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

Viola “Vi” Pettay, 75, died February 23, 2024 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, surrounded by her entire family. She was born August 4, 1948 in Great Bend, Kansas, to Leonard &amp; Maxine (Trent) Mings.

On May 22, 1965, she married the love of her life, Jack Pettay, in Hutchinson, KS. They shared over 58 3/4 years of marriage.

For most of her adult life, Vi thrived as a home-maker and volunteered in her church and the community. When Vi was not with her family, she was working in the service industry – from JC Penny’s to Sirloin Stockade to Bogey’s – she never met a stranger. She had an incredible capacity to make every person feel like the most special person in her presence. &nbsp;Children instinctively loved her and were drawn to her.&nbsp;

Vi had an unconquerable faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and was an exceptional wife and mother. &nbsp;She was kind, vivacious, quick-witted, and generous. She always saw the best in others - constantly rooting for the “underdogs” of life. &nbsp;Even though she faced years of health challenges, she remained the ultimate optimist.&nbsp;

Living to cherish her memory are: her loving husband, Jack Pettay of Hutchinson; sons, Karol Pettay of Hutchinson, Roger (Laura) Pettay of Virginia, and Mark Pettay (Amanda Rigg) of Hutchinson; 5 grandchildren: Nicholas Rizzo, Lauren (Justin) Phinney, Lance Pettay, Logan (Steven) Rose, Meadow Pettay; 3 great-grandchildren: Brendyn Bickel, Zaedyn Butterworth, and Wren Phinney (and one on the way); her beloved sister, Carroll Farrow of St. John; brother-in-law Everett Pettay of Hutchinson, along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews, and “adopted daughters.”

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Maxine Ruth, her parents, step-mother, a brother and two sisters, her parents-in-law, &nbsp;and numerous cherished brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
