Martha “Jean” (Hearn) Hurt, 94, of Haven, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Cheney Golden Age Home. She was born on December 2, 1929 in Sawyer, Kansas, to Arthur and Mary (Kennedy) Hearn.
She graduated from Pratt High School.
Jean was united in marriage to Billie Venters. He preceded her in death in 1966. She later married Pete Hurt in 1967. He passed away in 2007.
She was a devoted homemaker and worked as a cook at the nursing home in Haven. She also volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Yoder.
Jean was a member of the Hutchinson Friends Church, and previously attended the Haven United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Billie (Sheri) Venters, Marsha Wells (Pancho Smith), and Jerri (Steve) Taylor, all of Haven, and Janet Jones of Medicine Lodge; 20 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Hearn of Sawyer; and sister, Mary K. Hearn of Sawyer.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Billie Venters; second husband, Pete Hurt; four children Mike Venters, Mary Scobee, Bobbie Loehr, and Barry Venters; grandson, John Loehr; and four siblings.
Cremation is planned. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Ott Funeral Home, Haven, with family greeting friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Haven Senior Center in care of Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Haven, KS 67543.
