Viola “Vi” Clara Kohlmeier, 95, died August 25, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society- Hutchinson Village. She was born June 8, 1929, to Arthur and Clara (Damman) Dittmer in rural Palmer, KS.
She graduated from 8th grade, but did go on to earn her GED. Vi was a school cook for many years at Linn and Kinsley schools as well as a farm wife. Vi enjoyed all family time and crocheting. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
On April 16, 1950, Vi married the love of her life Delmar Edward Kohlmeier, at Immanuel Lutheran Church west of Linn. They shared 47 years of marriage before his passing May 12, 1997.
Vi’s hobbies included her beautiful crochet work, being an excellent bowler, and dedicating her time to her family and her Lord.
Vi is survived by: sons, Allen (Kristie) Kohlmeier of Kinsley, Rev. Keith (Marlene) Kohlmeier of Wichita, Lyle (Lori) Kohlmeier of Strong City and Lowell (Stacy) Kohlmeier of Manhattan; son-in-law, Kirk (Shannon) Molitor of Spearville; brother, Lavern (Norma) Dittmer of Linn ; grandchildren; Beth (Derek) Heaton, Julie (Jaret) Byer, Lisa (Mitch) Penner, Grant (Emily Porter) Kohlmeier, Drew (Allison) Kohlmeier, Dr. Ryan (Tyla) Kohlmeier, Justin (Rochelle) Kohlmeier, Dr. Jeff (Lora) Kohlmeier, Dr. Jacob (Dr. Allison) Kohlmeier, Jeremy (Cori) Kohlmeier, Emily (Steven) Fielding, Megan (Cory) Saunders, and Marc (Brianna) Molitor; 29 great-grandchildren plus three more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband Delmar; daughter, Kathy Molitor; sister, Darlene Obenland and her husband Don, sister-in-law, Loretta and her husbands Doc Rogge and Francis Nutsch.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday August 30, 2024, at 10 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church- Hutchinson with Pastors Quentin Nuttman and Henry Blickhahn officiating. Friends may sign her book from 9 am to 5 pm at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley, KS, at 2:30 pm.
