Georgianna Marie ‘Georgia’ Weber, 74, of Hutchinson, died October 14, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 23, 1945, in Norton, to Frank W. and Ruth J. (Bielser) Currier.

Georgia graduated from Hoxie High School in 1963 and from Northwest Kansas Technical College, as well as attended Fort Hays State University. She served on the kitchen staff in the Colby and St. Marys public schools. Georgia enjoyed camping and loved watching birds. She was a member of Hoxie Presbyterian Church.

On July 29, 1967, Georgia married Max E. Weber in Hoxie. They shared 53 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Ronda Hedrick (Aryn) of Nickerson, and Jenifer Lasky (Michael) of Wichita; grandchildren, Cayle, Lian, and Rayne Hedrick; sister, Wanita Smith (Tom) of Crestwell, OR; nephew, Scott Smith (Chris Brooks); great-nephew, Tanner Smith; great-nieces, Stephanie Mendoza (Luis), and Kimmie, Sol, Lily and Every Mendoza.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the memorial book from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, Ocotber 18, 2020, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday, October 23, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

Robert "Bob" Bernard Bush, 58, of Hutchinson, died Oct. 12, 2020, at Hospice House of Reno County. Bob was born in 1962, at Camp Pendleton, Calif. to a career Marine Corps family. He was the youngest of six children of Maj. Clayton O. Bush and Mary Bush.

In 1996, Bob married Ann Stephens in Denver. In 1997, they moved to Hutchinson, to join the Stephens family business, City Beverage. In 2000, Bob and Ann welcomed their son Jack Clayton to the family. In 2004, Ann and Bob purchased the business from John and Peg Stephens. Bob continued to participate in the business until his admission into Hospice on Oct. 8.

Bob was a civic-minded citizen and community booster, serving two terms on the Hutchinson City Council and one term as Reno County Commissioner. Bob Served as the mayor of Hutchinson in 2009 and 2013, Bob was most proud of the recruitment of the Siemen's wind manufacturing plant to Hutchinson during his tenure as mayor. He continued attending county commission meetings right up until the end, even participating by phone from various medical appointments.

Bob had a big heart, a big drive and dove into everything he did with enthusiasm and a smile. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma five-and-a-half years ago, but didn’t let his disease define him. He continued to work and to play as hard as he could. He was an avid golfer, who often organized outings and trips with his buddies, encouraging even the most reluctant to take time out from their schedules to spend time with friends on the course. Those who couldn’t were pushed to join them at the 19th hole.

He also took up CrossFit in recent years, reveling in the intense workouts and close camaraderie of those who partake.

His disease emphasized the importance of blood donations, and he helped organize a blood drive on Sept. 28 at City Beverage. In recent weeks, he arranged for local artist Mike Livingston to provide paintings for the oncology waiting area at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

He was always intensely curious, and those who engaged in conversation with him quickly learned they couldn’t get by with platitudes. He had a way of encouraging them to challenge their own assumptions, and usually come to better conclusions or decisions.

Bob graduated from Air Academy High School, USAFA, Colo., in 1980. He graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., with a bachelor’s degree in social work. While at CSU, Bob was an active member of the Sigma Epsilon Fraternity and ardent supporter of Ram Football. His love of the Rams continued on, many a time waking Ann when yelling at the team on the television late at night.

He earned a master’s in Business Management from Regis University in Denver in 1994.

Following graduation from Colorado State, Bob worked at Samaritan House Homeless Shelter in downtown Denver, an experience that helped color his life. Bob went on to work for the Jefferson County DA's office, administering its victim's compensation program, then spent years working for the state of Colorado, administering the statewide Victim's Compensation Fund for victims of violent crime.

Bob was a supporter of the arts in the community, donating bronze sculpture to the library, the city office, parks and zoo. In addition, he sponsored a wall scape in downtown Hutchinson.

Bob was a member of AMBUCs, served on the board of the Cosmosphere, and aided many non-profits in their fundraising activities. Bob served on the executive committee for the Kansas Beer Wholesalers Association and on the National Beer Wholesaler's Association.

Bob enjoyed travel, exploring most of the United States and Europe with friends and family on business and pleasure trips.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ann, son, Jack, of Lawrence, brother, Mark (Cindy), Parker, Colo.; sisters Barbara Bush, Newport, Ore., Betty Bush (Tom) of Aurora, Colo., and Mary McCutchen of Denver; niece Brae Phillips (Chip) of Berthoud, Colo.; nephews Kyle (Tina) McCutchen of Ecuador, and Brandon Bush (Roxy) of The Woodlands,, Texas; great nieces Sydney McCutchen, Madalyn and Bonnee Phillips, and great nephew Clay Bush.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Mary Bush, brother, Clay Bush, and brother-in-law Bill Bullard.

With his multiple myeloma, Bob required frequent blood transfusions, so in lieu of flowers, he asked that friends donate blood to their local Red Cross.

A public ‘Come and Go Celebration of Life’ gathering will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Main Street Event Center, 2 N. Main, Hutchinson. Social distancing and masks will be required at the Main Street Event Center. Earline Stoughton Polk, 94, died Saturday, October 17, 2020, at her home. She was born April 27, 1926, at the Riverbanks Orchard, Hutchinson, to Earl and Katherine (Cox) Stoughton.

Earline graduated from Buhler High School in 1944 and attended Hutchinson Community College and Kansas State University. She served as the Director of Pioneer Senior Center (now known as Elmdale Senior Center) for 23 years. Earline retired after 26 years of service as the Director of the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Center. She loved working with senior citizens at both of her jobs. Earline also enjoyed making jam and jelly, making a batch just three weeks ago. She was a charter member of Union Valley Bible Church. Earline will be greatly missed by many.

On Oct. 21, 1944, Earline married the love of her life, Calvin Polk, who was a sailor at the Navy Base, in Hutchinson. They shared almost 71 1/2 years of marriage, before his death on July 8, 2015.

Earline is survived by son, Earl Polk (Pam) of Burrton; son-in-law, John Murphy (Micki) of Castle Rock, CO; grandchildren, Sparkle Faidley (Luke), J.J. Polk (Amanda), Jeff Polk (Betty), Katie Murphy, and Connor Murphy; great-grandchildren, Malachie Lehmann, Sophia Faidley, and Jacy Polk; and brother-in-law, Larry Black

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Polk Murphy; son, Jerry Polk; and sisters, Barbara Black and Marceline Adams.

Ervin R. Goossen, 78, of Goessel, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at his home. He was born November 28, 1941 in Goessel, the son of Ferdinand and Agnes (Voth) Goossen.

He graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1960. He was also a graduate from Bethel College and studied electrical engineering at Kansas State University.

Ervin went to Congo, Africa in 1960 with the Mennonite Central Committee. He was a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel.

He was a near lifelong resident of Goessel, except when living in Houston, Texas from 1973-1979. He was united in marriage to Belia Treviño on November 3, 1973 in Houston.

Ervin worked as an electrician and troubleshooter for Apollo Electric in Houston, Johns Manville in McPherson and Norcraft in Newton. With his work, he traveled the world. Ervin retired in 2008. During retirement, he was a stockman on the family farm.

He is survived by his wife, Belia Goossen of Goessel; daughter, Carmelita Goossen (Brad Lewis) of Kismet; son, Alexander (Macaela) Goossen of Meade; brothers, LaVern (Arlene) Goossen of Goessel, and Earl (Marsha) Goossen of Minneapolis; and sister, Mayann (Clair) Longuevan of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; children, Travis, Lucinda, Alexis and baby; and sister-in-law, Joann Goossen.

Mark ‘Big Al’ Allen Call, 66, of Hutchinson, died October 12, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. He was born August 28, 1954, in Sacramento, CA, to Norman Wiley and Dayle Jewel (Benscheidt) Call.

Mark graduated from Del Campo High School, Fair Oaks, CA, in 1972. He lettered in football and wrestling. He was the first Del Campo wrestler to go to substate. Continuing his passion for sports, Mark also boxed (1980-1981) for the Hutchinson boxing team.

He retired from Western Foods, Hutchinson, KS, as manager of the vinegar bottling line. After retirement, Mark was self-employed, focusing on grounds keeping, mowing, trash hauling, and brush clearing.&nbsp;

He enjoyed gardening, canoeing, and riding his bicycle. Mark was a charter member of the Hutchinson Headwinds Bicycle Club. He was a simple man, but a caring man, who lived an uncomplicated life, as was evidenced by his unselfishness of being an organ donor. Mark enjoyed the company of many friends and loved the challenge of a heated debate.&nbsp;

He is survived by his mother, Dayle Call of Carmichael, CA; siblings, Gregory (Sylvia) Call of Folsom, CA, Dana Reyes of Carmichael, CA, and Brad (Sandra) Call of Carmichael, CA; nephew, Robert Reyes of Carmichael, CA; uncle, Charles Benscheidt; and cousin, Mike Benscheidt, both of Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Benita Barbara Snyder, 90, passed away on October 14, 2020. She was 
born on January 3, 1930 in Ness County, Kansas the daughter of Paul and 
Mary (Stoecklein) Seib.&nbsp; She married Daniel Snyder on June 22, 1957, in 
Garden City, Kansas. He died on June 23, 2013.

Benita was homemaker with a kind, loving, very gentle spirit and 
profound deep faith that carried her through every day of her life.&nbsp; She
 loved spending time with family and living her faith. She was a 
lifetime member of the Daughters of Isabella of Garden City, Eucharistic
 Minister, Choir member and Altar Society member at the Cathedral of Our
 Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City. She also assisted in various volunteer
 endeavors including Friendship Feast in Dodge City. &nbsp;In 2020 she moved 
to Brewster, Kansas where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law.

Survivors include 3 sons, Stephen (Nancy) Snyder of Dodge City, 
Daniel (Karen) Snyder of Glendale, AZ, Kenneth Snyder of Anthem, AZ; 3 
daughters, Sharon (Tim) Tompkins of Brewster, Patricia (Anthony) Pieschl
 of Wichita, Karen (Robert) Lindgren of Hutchinson; 8 brothers, Tony, 
Eugene, Paul, Robert, Tom, Vern, Gary and Jerry Seib; 2 sisters, Lorita 
Franz, Mary Catherine Hilmes; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, Eleanor

Sarah Elwanda Asberry, 88, died on October 12, 2020 in Hutchinson, KS. She was born October 25, 1931 in Cave City, AR, the daughter of George W. and Coy Faye (Davis) Milligan.

Sarah graduated from Cave City High School, graduating in 1949. On June 4, 1949 she married Billy Asberry in Batesville, AR. Sarah was a homemaker and a caregiver for children and many others. She lived most of her adult life in Hutchinson, but in her more recent years, she has lived in the Lawrence area and in Hutchinson with her children. She was a member of Gospel Chapel in Hutchinson and Eastside Chapel in Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy B. Asberry; brothers, Joe E. and Bill A. Milligan; sisters, Mary Jane Russ and Lorraine West.

Sarah is survived by her sons, Tony Asberry of Hutchinson, KS. and Randy Asberry of Lawrence, KS.; daughters, Kay Schonberg of Eudora, KS., Theresa Kingsley and Reba Burson both of Hutchinson, KS.; a brother, George Weldon Milligan of Kingsport, TN.; sisters, Fayrene Bailey of Cave City, AR. and Francene Strother of Wichita, KS.; and she was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren.

James Royce Brunk, 85, of Hesston, Kansas, died on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

Royce was born on April 8, 1935 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Willard F. and Erma J. (Miller) Brunk. On June 8, 1957, he married Ardith Dianne Freyenberger in Wayland, Iowa. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Bethel College in Newton, Kansas and a Master's Degree from Arizona State University. He taught school in Arizona, India, Hesston and Seoul, South Korea. After his teaching career he worked in the education department of Wichita State University.

Royce is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ardith; his children, Rene (Debi) Brunk of Hesston and Jodi (Doug) Dick of Wichita; four grandchildren, Jordan (Alisha) Brunk of Kansas City, Missouri, Casey (Lori) Brunk of Portland, Oregon, Melanie (John) Schall of Wichita, and Joel (Indica) Dick of Wichita; four great grandchildren, Bethany, Sophia, Audrey and Olivia; a sister, Louise (Mike) Zimmerman of Boise, Idaho, and a brother, Ron (Charles) Brunk-Parker of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Emma Esther Bontrager, 96, went to her heavenly home on October 15, 2020 in South Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born April 16, 1924 in Reno County, Kansas, the daughter of Jeremiah W. and Mattie (Troyer) Troyer.

She married Roy D. Bontrager on October 8, 1948 in Yoder, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1998.&nbsp;

Emma and Roy were longtime residents of Garden City, Kansas, where they attended Garden Valley Church. She was a farmer’s wife and a devoted homemaker. Emma and Roy fostered children for many years. She also worked at the Garden City hospital as a nurse’s aide.

She is survived by her sister, Clara (Willard) Miller of Fairview, Michigan; brother, Jerry (Judy) Troyer of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Ryan of Santa Cruz, California, Scot (Jennifer) of Frisco, Texas, Eric (Lindsey) of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Adam (Christy) of Bandhagen, Sweden, Nicole (Bill Strickland)of Parsons, and Brook (James Carranza) of Satanta; eight great-grandchildren, Elijah, Aiden, Gabriel, Addie, Avery, Emya, Ellie, and Evelyn; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Bontrager of Santa Monica, California.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Curtis Leroy Bontrager and Jerry Daniel Bontrager; six brothers, John, Harry, William, Ora, Mose and Fred Troyer; and great-grandson, Kai.

Billie Jane (Ball) Blumenshine, 95, died October 10, 2020, in Hutchinson. She was born September 22, 1925, in Pratt, to Earl James and Faith Alvena (Freeman) Ball.&nbsp;

Billie attended Pratt schools, graduating in 1943. She worked at the Pratt Air Base in a Civil Service position throughout World War II. After resigning, Billie entered Wichita-St. Joseph School of Nursing, graduating in 1949.&nbsp;

She married Gordon C. Blumenshine, of Clearwater, on May 24, 1949. They lived briefly in Clearwater, and then made their home in Wichita. In 1963, Billie and Gordon moved to a farm near Mulvane. They lived in Belle Plaine from 1976, until retiring to Hutchinson in 1985.&nbsp;

Billie had a long, active career in nursing, from 1950 until she retired in 1985. She worked at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita MediCenter, Boeing Aircraft, and in several physician’s practices in Wichita and Belle Plaine.&nbsp;

Billie was passionate about providing professional, compassionate health care, and had wonderful, warm relationships with those for whom she cared. She was kind to all she met and had an unfailing positive attitude. Billie was artistic, loved music and was always busy with a project of some kind. Throughout the years, Billie and her family enthusiastically participated in the Sedgwick County 4-H program, and enjoyed boating and water skiing together and with extended family and friends.

Billie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Christine Marie (Jerry) Gee of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Billie Patrice ‘Trice’ (Roger) Mott of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Carolyn (Joshua) Jaeger, Erin (Bob) Van Allen, Stephanie Mott, Cassie Mott (Jason Wyer) and Garret Mott; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Faith Ball; husband, Gordon; brothers, Dwight and Kenneth Ball; sisters, Mildred Wedmark and Virginia Beech; and one grandson, Nathan Gee.

Gilbert ‘Gil’ L. Ash, 81, died October 13, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born October 6, 1939, in McPherson, to Clifford H. and Judith Viola (Tector) Ash.

Gil graduated from Enterprise Academy, Enterprise, KS, Hutchinson Community College, and took classes at Wichita State University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1968. Gil retired after 30 years of service as a customer service representative for IBM. He was a member of Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. &amp; A.M. and Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. Gil loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, and traveling (especially to Colorado with his family). He was a loving, devoted grandpa. Gil’s eight grandchildren had great admiration for their grandfather.

On Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Dove, in Newton. They shared almost 59 years of marriage.

Gil is survived by wife, Karen of Hutchinson; children, Gregory Ash (Amy) of Lawrence, Scott Ash (Anne Richtarik) of Lexington, MA, and Susan O’Sullivan (Tim) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Shea O’Sullivan, Audrey O’Sullivan, Isabel Ash, Sadie Ash, Kellen O‘Sullivan, Amelia Ash, Lottie Ash, and Thomas Ash; brother-in-law, Kent Dove (Joquita) of Newton; and beloved cat, Sal.

Betty Fern (Woodall) Howard died October 13, 2020, at Oakley, KS at age 
99. Her husband Frank Wilson Howard Jr. preceded her in death on Nov. 
4, 2010. They married in Colby, KS on September 20, 1942. 
Betty and her husband lived on a wheat and cattle farm seven miles north
 of Oakley, where they raised five children. Betty served as Logan 
County Hospital director of nursing for 30 years. She was an active 
member of the United Methodist Church, enjoyed the Homemakers, Sunshine 
Club, Red Hat Ladies and Logan County Hospital retired personnel 
lunches. She volunteered at the Second Time Around Shop and for church 
events and activities. 
A calm, friendly, kind and loving wife, mother, friend, grandmother, and
 great-grandmother, Betty was cherished by many. She had a deep-seated 
faith, tremendous energy and a steel backbone that helped her cope with 
difficult challenges including a son’s death, caring for her 
parents-in-law for years as they aged and then her husband during his 
declining years. She also gave a helping hand to the farm operations. 
Born on September 14, 1921, in Bent County, Colorado, to Ruth Mae Beach 
and Ammy W. Woodall, Betty grew up in Hutchinson and Colby, KS. She 
graduated from Colby High School and then from Grace Hospital School of 
Nursing, in Hutchinson, where she was first place in her class 
academically. However, the graduation honor was awarded by 
administrators to the second highest student, as they knew Betty planned
 to marry after her graduation. They determined the honor should go to 
someone who planned to start working as a nurse. When questioned about 
the incident Betty in her typical gracious way said, “She was a very 
deserving student too.” The nursing school classmates kept in close 
contact throughout their lives. 
Betty’s father also opposed her marriage. He feared Frank, who had been 
drafted into the army, would be sent to Europe during WWII and never 
return. Betty, who had faith he would return, was able to join Frank 
when he was stationed in California and Texas and was expecting their 
first child when his orders for Europe came. After a number of 
assignments, and landing on D-Day plus 13, Frank arrived back home when 
their son was almost two years old. 
Married for 68 years, Betty and Frank raised five children, Frank 
(Normi), Peoria, IL; Carolyn (Robert Rice), Carmel, CA; Linda (Tom 
West), Durango, CO; Elaine (Alan Adams) Salida, CO. David, of Oakley, 
predeceased his parents in 2004, as did two siblings, James Woodall, of 
Colby, and Zella Mae Crane, of Kerman, CA. Betty is survived by a 
sister, Donna (Bob Purdum), of Simi Valley, CA, and two nephews, Jim and
 Chris Woodall, who reside at the Howard farm. Their presence enabled 
Frank and Betty to continue living on the farm though their upper 80s. 
Betty enjoyed fishing trips to Kansas lakes with her husband and many 
trips throughout the United States including Hawaii and Alaska and 
foreign travel to Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Austria, Italy 
and India. She traveled to India at age 91 for a granddaughter’s wedding
 and a three-week tour of the country. The couple had snowbird winters 
in Texas for several years in their fifth-wheeler. 
Her grandchildren are Michael, Scott, Pam, Jim, Diane, Chuck, Mariah, 
Amy and Mark. Betty has 16-great-grandchildren, a number of beloved 
nieces and nephews and several step grandsons and granddaughters. 
Betty died following a COVID illness. Her family appreciates the care

Laura M. Stout, 87, died on October 13, 2020 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, KS. She was born September 2, 1933, in Tribune, KS, the daughter of Fred O. and Addie (Waldon) Daines.

On October 8, 1949, Laura married Gerald A. Stout in Hutchinson, KS. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2013. Laura worked for Southern Extrusion as a wrapper for 10 years, she worked at Farmland Industries for 5 years and worked as a sales clerk for Walmart retiring after 15 years. Laura’s family and grandchildren was the most important thing to her. She enjoyed cooking and had a love for the Lord. She was a Sunday school teacher and worked in the church’s nursery. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; brothers, Fred, Leon, John, Jackie and Robert Daines; sisters, Mary England, Jean Renken, Shirley Wilson, Bonnie Davis, Nancy Satterwhite, Linda Lancaster, Isabelle Cheatum and Donna Daines; and granddaughter Andrea Struthers.

Terry L. Starks, 59, died on October 10, 2020 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. He was born July 10, 1961 in Hutchinson, the son of Wesley and Dorothy (Black) Starks.

On June 10, 2000, Terry married Connie Sue Parks in Great Bend, KS. She died on December 22, 2012. Terry was a certified welder and worked on stainless steel for hospitals and helped build the 7th and 8 th grade buildings in Hutchinson. Terry loved to fish, ride motorcycles, bow hunting, 4-wheeling and he loved the Kansas City CHIEFS. He enjoyed raising turkeys and growing peppers in his garden.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; his father, Wesley; a sister, Robin Starks and a great granddaughter, Emryss Rose Starks.

Terry is survived by his mother and step-father Dorothy and Bob Wilhite; daughters, Jennifer (Julian) Starks of Independence, MO. and Victoria (Justin) Reta of Hutchinson, KS.; brother, Billy Joe (Viola) Starks of Hutchinson, KS., half-brother, Kelly (Melissa) Starks of Austin, TX.; a step-brothers, Chris (Kathy) Wilhite of Park City, KS. and Donnie (Suzy) Martin of Burrton, Ks.; step-sister, Tonya (Derrick) Wilhite of Haven, KS. and grandchildren, Doshja Starks and Leon Guereca.

John ‘Johnnie’ Martin Kaiser, Jr., 74, died October 10, 2020, at his home.&nbsp; He was born July 23, 1946, in Hutchinson, to John Martin and Bertha Ann (Friesen) Kaiser.

Johnnie graduated from Buhler High School, in 1964.&nbsp; He loved life as a farmer and stockman. Johnnie enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone, loved collecting guns, and working in his Bobcat to clear pastures. Johnnie was incredibly close and involved with all of his grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson.

On January 15, 1966, he married Nancy Louise Foster, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared almost 55 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Johnnie is survived by wife, Nancy of Windom; children, Angela Baker (Michael) of Wichita, Todd Kaiser (Kristin) of Windom, Amanda Ratzlaff (Gregg) of Buhler, and Mary Kaiser of Lawrence; sister, Donna Patrick (Michael) of Wichita; and six grandchildren

Alice M. Viegra, 82, of Hutchinson, died October 9, 2020, at Larksfield Place, Wichita. She was born April 11, 1938, in Silver City, NM, to Baldomero and Adela (Monje) Murillo.

In addition to being a homemaker, Alice worked at Wheatland Printing and ACS. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, where she served as chairman on the Altar Society and helped with funeral dinners, fair preparation and fiesta preparation, and participated in weekly adoration. But most of all, Alice loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother and was affectionately known as ‘Grandma Honey’.

On July 28, 1956, she married Francisco ‘Frank’ Viegra in Hutchinson. He survives.

Also surviving are: children, Gilbert Viegra, Hope Mills, NC, Francisco ‘Frank’ Vieyra and fiancée Kathy Simon Fruh, Placentia, CA, Diana Dauber (Dave), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Manuel (Jenalee) Garcia, Robert Magana-Garcia, J.R. Garcia, Adrianna Magana-Garcia (Brian Matthews), Vicente Vieyra (Baylee), Ethan Vieyra, Andre Vieyra (Amber), Cassandra Harness (Mike), Marco Sandoval (Tamar); great-grandchildren, Syler, Chasley, Elena, Ciela, Alex, Chloe, Parsenn; sister-in-law, Teresa Murillo, Hutchinson; and many other extended family members.

Randy Ford, 36, died October 7, 2020, at his home. He was born September 12, 1984, in Hutchinson, to Russell James and Betina Mae (Southards) Ford.

Randy was a 2003 graduate of Valley Center High School, and attended Butler Community College. He was employed as a warehouse technician for Liquid Dynamics since 2007.

Randy is survived by his parents, Rusty and Tina Ford of Valley Center; sister, Meghan (Ian) Graham of Wichita; niece, Ava Graham; and grandmother, Kay Southards of South Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Lloyd and Betty Ford; grandmother, Grace Warren; &nbsp;and grandfather, Ron Southards.

The casket will remain closed. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Elliott Chapel, with Ron Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. She was born September 22, 1925, in Pratt, to Earl James and Faith Alvena (Freeman) Ball.&nbsp;Billie attended Pratt schools, graduating in 1943. She worked at the Pratt Air Base in a Civil Service position throughout World War II. After resigning, Billie entered Wichita-St. Joseph School of Nursing, graduating in 1949.&nbsp;She married Gordon C. Blumenshine, of Clearwater, on May 24, 1949. They lived briefly in Clearwater, and then made their home in Wichita. In 1963, Billie and Gordon moved to a farm near Mulvane. They lived in Belle Plaine from 1976, until retiring to Hutchinson in 1985.&nbsp;Billie had a long, active career in nursing, from 1950 until she retired in 1985. She worked at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita MediCenter, Boeing Aircraft, and in several physician’s practices in Wichita and Belle Plaine.&nbsp;Billie was passionate about providing professional, compassionate health care, and had wonderful, warm relationships with those for whom she cared. She was kind to all she met and had an unfailing positive attitude. Billie was artistic, loved music and was always busy with a project of some kind. Throughout the years, Billie and her family enthusiastically participated in the Sedgwick County 4-H program, and enjoyed boating and water skiing together and with extended family and friends.Billie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Christine Marie (Jerry) Gee of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Billie Patrice ‘Trice’ (Roger) Mott of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Carolyn (Joshua) Jaeger, Erin (Bob) Van Allen, Stephanie Mott, Cassie Mott (Jason Wyer) and Garret Mott; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Faith Ball; husband, Gordon; brothers, Dwight and Kenneth Ball; sisters, Mildred Wedmark and Virginia Beech; and one grandson, Nathan Gee.A family graveside service will be held at the Clearwater Cemetery. Albert ‘Harold’ Gottsch, 89, died Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born May 26, 1931, in Woods County, OK, to Albert Henry and Anna Katherine (Finnigan) Gottsch.

Harold graduated from Dacoma High School, Dacoma, OK, Oklahoma A&amp;M College, and received his master’s degree from Kansas State University. He moved from El Dorado to Hutchinson in 1972. Harold was the Reno County Extension Director until his retirement. He was a member and past-president for NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association) and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. Harold enjoyed walking and his K-State Wildcats.

On May 14, 1954, Harold married Dona Mae Molz in Kiowa. She died November 21, 2008, after sharing 54 years of marriage. He later married Jean Petermann.

Harold is survived by wife, Jean of Hutchinson; daughters, Karen Thorsell (George) of Chanute, Linda Dixon (Bob) of North Kansas City, MO, and Janice Wood (Craig) of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and Jean’s children, Lisa Neagle, David Petermann, and Brian Petermann.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gayla Diane Gottsch O’Connell; brothers, Dan, Darrel, and Alan; and infant sister, Edith Ann.

Lucia Amalie Adam, 93, passed away on October 8, 2020 at her home in Hutchinson, KS of natural causes. She was born on November 13, 1926 in Germany to Heinrich and Martah Schidelko - Owzorz.

Lucia grew up and attended school in Bavaria and Czechoslovakia and continued with business classes at Hutchinson Junior College after moving to the United States. Lucia met Valentine Adam Jr. during WWII and they were married for 58 years. Lucia made it her life’s work and passion to manage restaurants and feed people. She was the owner of the Edelweis Club in Hutchinson KS. She was also an avid knitter and quilter, and made numerous quilts for World Relief. She was also a volunteer for the Red Cross both in Europe and America.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Heinrich and Martah Schidelko-Owzorz; husband, Valentine Adam Jr; sisters, Geisla Marcellas and Dorthy Polodna; daughter, Peggy Konkle; grandchild, Sheila Woods and son-in-law, Rodger Woods Sr.

Lucia is survived by daughter, Irene Woods and son, Marvin Adam (Peggy); five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

There will be a receiving of friends and graveside service for family and close friends on Saturday October 10, 2020, with a memorial celebration to be held in the summer of 2021. Service officiated by Quentin Nuttmann of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hutchinson Funeral Chapel &amp; Crematory.

Gerald A. Duncan, age 72, of Hesston, Kansas passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his home. He was born September 3, 1948, at Fort Sherman, Panama, the son of Hoyt A. and Nancy (Duke) Duncan.

Gerald graduated from Port Hueneme High School in California. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 as a crew chief in the Vietnam War, obtaining the rank of Specialist 5. He owned and operated Action Home Repair and also restored and painted automobiles for many years.&nbsp; He was a lifelong resident of California, moving to Hesston in 2019.&nbsp; Gerald enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his friends and various clubs. He was a friend to all and kept in contact with everyone he met.

Survivors include a son, Shane A. (Misti) Duncan of Hesston; step-mother, Margaret Duncan of Palmdale, CA; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Cremation is planned with private family services to be held. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062.

Melvin Mast, 88, passed away October 8, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 1, 1932 to Roman and Anna (Bontrager) Mast at Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; He lived with his parents until he moved to Golden City, Missouri to live with his sister, Emma and John Byler for 19 years.&nbsp; He moved with them to Oroville, California in 2008.

After the death of Emma, he was moved to Mennonite Friendship Communities where he spent the last 20 months, enjoying sleeping late and taking plenty of time with his meals.&nbsp; Chapel singing and working Printer’s pies were some of his favorites.&nbsp; He was a member of the Amish Church.

Survivors include his brother, Eli (Lydia) Mast of Ronks, Pennsylvania; sister, Fannie Otto of Arthur, Illinois; and brother-in-law, John Byler of Oroville, California.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Anna Mast; sister, Emma Byler; brother, Johnny Mast; and brother-in-law, Amos Otto.

Patsy Wiard, age 81, passed away on October 8, 2020, at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, FL of natural causes. Patsy was the daughter of Lee and Frieda Allen. She was born and raised in and around Kingman, KS. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin last year and her brother Lael Allen.

Patsy was a graduate of Kingman High School. Patsy and Darwin made their home and raised their family in Hutchinson, KS. She and Darwin were very involved with the National JUCO Basketball tournament, The Moose Lodge and the American Legion. Patsy worked at both the Hutchinson Hospital and Halstead Hospital for many years. In 2000, they moved from Hutchinson to Clermont, FL where Patsy was involved with the Kingsridge Women’s Club.

Patsy and Darwin were married 63 years. They had two daughters Tammy (Clermont) and Tenley Long (Scott) of Ocoee, FL, grandson Kyle Long (Ashley) of Beaver, WV and great-grand daughter Kennedy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Fred worked for Cessna and Doskocil. He attended Journey at South Hutchinson. Fred was known in the community for his taxi service, where he met and got to know many people.

He is survived by son, Dalton Miller, Manhattan, KS; brothers Willis Miller, Hutchinson, and Paul Miller (Martha), Partridge; sisters, Mary Beachy (Joe), Kalona, Iowa, and Emma Troyer (Oliver), Partridge; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

JoAnne Smith, 92, of Hutchinson, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. She was born April 25, 1928, in Augusta, to Bertram and Flora (Fitzwilliam) St. Clair.

JoAnne married the love of her life, Albert ‘Al’, on November 16, 1948, in Hutchinson. They remained in Hutchinson and raised their family. JoAnne’s lifelong love of God and family was a wonderful testament for her children. She was blessed and proud of her seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren, all of whom are a true legacy to a life of love and devotion to her family.

She was born April 25, 1928, in Augusta, to Bertram and Flora (Fitzwilliam) St. Clair.JoAnne married the love of her life, Albert ‘Al’, on November 16, 1948, in Hutchinson. They remained in Hutchinson and raised their family. JoAnne’s lifelong love of God and family was a wonderful testament for her children. She was blessed and proud of her seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren, all of whom are a true legacy to a life of love and devotion to her family.JoAnne is survived by her sons, Galen (Diane) Smith of Corpus Christi, TX, Galord Smith of St. Charles, MO, Mark (Debbie) Smith of Pretty Prairie, and Lance (Angie) Smith of Hutchinson; daughters, Joleen Smith of Hutchinson, and Doreen (Jay) Hawkins of Buhler; daughter-in-law, Shelley (Mark) Stephens of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Roman Smith, Angela Lawless, Brad Smith, Taron Smith, Christopher Nolde, Andrea Smyth, Tristan Smith, Kelsey Schneider, Brecken Rumsey, Corey Smith, Kaydee Robinson, Kristin Hoffman, Heather Smith, Haley Crump, Brittany Aden, Dallas Smith, Chloe Hawkins, and Nickolas Smith; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Riley, Chloe, Mason, Karlea, Braden, Lillian, Michael, Jersey, Kaiden, Shawn, Braydee, Eva, Quinn, Chase, Blaze, Noah, Violet, Fiona, and Julian.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert ‘Al’ Smith; son, Bruce Smith; daughter-in-law, Shirley Smith; brothers, Matthew, Bertram, Keith, Gary, Denny, and Ronnie; and sisters, Phyllis, Donna, and Alice.Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
