Ervin R. Goossen, 78, of Goessel, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at his home. He was born November 28, 1941 in Goessel, the son of Ferdinand and Agnes (Voth) Goossen.

He graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1960. He was also a graduate from Bethel College and studied electrical engineering at Kansas State University.

Ervin went to Congo, Africa in 1960 with the Mennonite Central Committee. He was a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel.

He was a near lifelong resident of Goessel, except when living in Houston, Texas from 1973-1979. He was united in marriage to Belia Treviño on November 3, 1973 in Houston.

Ervin worked as an electrician and troubleshooter for Apollo Electric in Houston, Johns Manville in McPherson and Norcraft in Newton. With his work, he traveled the world. Ervin retired in 2008. During retirement, he was a stockman on the family farm.

He is survived by his wife, Belia Goossen of Goessel; daughter, Carmelita Goossen (Brad Lewis) of Kismet; son, Alexander (Macaela) Goossen of Meade; brothers, LaVern (Arlene) Goossen of Goessel, and Earl (Marsha) Goossen of Minneapolis; and sister, Mayann (Clair) Longuevan of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; children, Travis, Lucinda, Alexis and baby; and sister-in-law, Joann Goossen.

Cremation is planned. A private viewing for family only will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2020 at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Goessel. Graveside services and inurnment are pending and will be held at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contribution checks be made out to Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church (in the memo line, please designate to the Lucinda Goossen Scholarship Fund) in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 96, Goessel, KS 67053.
