Earline Stoughton Polk, 94, died Saturday, October 17, 2020, at her home. She was born April 27, 1926, at the Riverbanks Orchard, Hutchinson, to Earl and Katherine (Cox) Stoughton.

Earline graduated from Buhler High School in 1944 and attended Hutchinson Community College and Kansas State University. She served as the Director of Pioneer Senior Center (now known as Elmdale Senior Center) for 23 years. Earline retired after 26 years of service as the Director of the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Center. She loved working with senior citizens at both of her jobs. Earline also enjoyed making jam and jelly, making a batch just three weeks ago. She was a charter member of Union Valley Bible Church. Earline will be greatly missed by many.

On Oct. 21, 1944, Earline married the love of her life, Calvin Polk, who was a sailor at the Navy Base, in Hutchinson. They shared almost 71 1/2 years of marriage, before his death on July 8, 2015.

Earline is survived by son, Earl Polk (Pam) of Burrton; son-in-law, John Murphy (Micki) of Castle Rock, CO; grandchildren, Sparkle Faidley (Luke), J.J. Polk (Amanda), Jeff Polk (Betty), Katie Murphy, and Connor Murphy; great-grandchildren, Malachie Lehmann, Sophia Faidley, and Jacy Polk; and brother-in-law, Larry Black

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Polk Murphy; son, Jerry Polk; and sisters, Barbara Black and Marceline Adams.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson (or Reverend Steve as Earline referred to him) officiating. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson.
