Alice M. Viegra, 82, of Hutchinson, died October 9, 2020, at Larksfield Place, Wichita. She was born April 11, 1938, in Silver City, NM, to Baldomero and Adela (Monje) Murillo.
In addition to being a homemaker, Alice worked at Wheatland Printing and ACS. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, where she served as chairman on the Altar Society and helped with funeral dinners, fair preparation and fiesta preparation, and participated in weekly adoration. But most of all, Alice loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother and was affectionately known as ‘Grandma Honey’.
On July 28, 1956, she married Francisco ‘Frank’ Viegra in Hutchinson. He survives.
Also surviving are: children, Gilbert Viegra, Hope Mills, NC, Francisco ‘Frank’ Vieyra and fiancée Kathy Simon Fruh, Placentia, CA, Diana Dauber (Dave), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Manuel (Jenalee) Garcia, Robert Magana-Garcia, J.R. Garcia, Adrianna Magana-Garcia (Brian Matthews), Vicente Vieyra (Baylee), Ethan Vieyra, Andre Vieyra (Amber), Cassandra Harness (Mike), Marco Sandoval (Tamar); great-grandchildren, Syler, Chasley, Elena, Ciela, Alex, Chloe, Parsenn; sister-in-law, Teresa Murillo, Hutchinson; and many other extended family members.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Viegra; and brother, Ruben Murillo.
Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple St., South Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 12-8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends following the Rosary at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
