Nation Meyer, age 98, a life-long resident of Hutchinson, died at home surrounded by family on November 12, 2020. He was born March 21, 1922, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Edward William Meyer and Eula Nation Meyer. He was a 1939 graduate of Hutchinson High School, attended the University of Kansas until late 1942, and was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. At that time, he joined the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator and served until January 1946, when he returned to Hutchinson.

In 1946, he began his career at The First National Bank of Hutchinson. In 1960, he was named President of the bank. He retired in 2016, as Senior Chairman after 70 years of service to the bank. During those years, he was associated with numerous civic and commercial enterprises. Among them, he was a founder of Data Center Inc. He also served as a Founding Director of the following organizations: The Hutchinson Town Club, Prairie Dunes Country Club, The Hutchinson Art Center, The Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Foundation, Fox Théâtre and the Reno County Historical Society. He served as President of the Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce in 1954. Nation was also instrumental in the merger of the two local hospitals to form Hutchinson Regional Hospital. For his entire life he has been an advocate for the Hutchinson community, especially the downtown area.&nbsp;

In 1965, he married Tucker Landeene. She survives, and he is also survived by four children, Edward Nation Meyer, Diane Meyer Longenecker (Kent), Laura Meyer Dick (Michael), and John L. Meyer (Lisa), and grandchildren, Nation Whitney Meyer, Graham Longenecker, Kristin Glascock (John Paul), Karen Longenecker, Kaitlyn, Jennifer and Lindsey Maschler, Jayden and Kendall Meyer. and one great-grandson, Liam Glascock.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a Private Memorial Service will take place.

Daniel James ‘Dan’ Stoecklein, 57, of Hutchinson, died November 12, 2020, at Hospice House. He was born on March 12, 1963, in Hutchinson, to Jim and Venita (Stegman) Stoecklein.

Dan graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in 1981, and Hutchinson Community College in 1983, with an Associates of Arts degree. In 1978, he began his first role at Dillon Stores as a courtesy clerk at Store #48 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Dan’s starting pay rate was $2.65 per hour. He later worked in the Produce, Grocery, and Scanning Departments before being named Scanning Manager in 1985. In 1992, Dan moved to the Distribution Center Office to be Store Systems Supervisor. Dan was named Inventory Specialist for Dillon Stores Division, in September 1996. He was then named Retail Pricing Coordinator at the Distribution Center Office, effective July 1997. Dan was named Network Analyst in Information Services at the Distribution Center Office, in August 2000. He was named Store Auditor, effective October 2010, and was in that position briefly before joining Kroger Accounting Services-Hutchinson (KASH) as Kroger Time &amp; Attendance Support Analyst, in late 2010. Dan was promoted to Kroger Time &amp; Attendance Group Leader, in November 2014.

Dan had many hobbies, including cooking and baking for an army and playing with his grandchildren -- pushing them way too high on the swing and taking them to the park or on long walks. He was also an avid grocery shopper, a recycling professional, a closet hoarder of many things and Monarchs Baseball host parent. He also participated in reluctant home improvement and completing Janet’s projects (the running “To-Do” list). One of his greatest loves was gardening and wood cutting therapy sessions, but he also enjoyed hunting (pheasant and “residential hunting”) and building things in the garage. He was a member at Church of the Holy Cross, in Hutchinson.

On August 4, 1984, he married his lovely wife, Janet Kay Koehn, at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. They shared 36 years together.

Dan is survived by wife, Janet Stoecklein, Hutchinson; daughters, Lacy Dowers (Rick), Hutchinson, Katie Raya (Derrick), Hutchinson, Kelsey Teagle (Deiondre), Wichita; grandchildren, Alba Rose Dowers, Ivy Jade Dowers, Alexis Ann Raya, and Asher Michael Raya, all of Hutchinson; parents, Jim and Venita Stoecklein, Hutchinson; siblings, Elaine Weninger (Mark), Denny Stoecklein (Michelle), and Pam Nelson, all of Hutchinson; and nephews, Michael Weninger, Logan Weninger, Jordan Stoecklein, Ryan Stoecklein, and Connor Nelson.

Ralph G. Bowen, a longtime Hutchinson resident who never met a stranger, took his last breath on earth, and first in Heaven, on November 14, 2020. Ralph, son of Lewis G. and Minnie E. (Burget) Bowen, was born and raised in Burlington, Kansas.

He lived an adventurous childhood with his twin brother, Roger, older brother, Don, and sister, Marjorie. Ralph and Roger carried their love of playing football together from Burlington High School to Hutchinson Community College, and finally as recruits at Washburn University, where Ralph, as team captain, led the team to league championships his junior and senior years.

Ralph also served as president of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, his senior year. He often kidded with his children that he was ‘BMOC,’ Big Man On Campus, and anyone who had the privilege to know him would not doubt this for a minute!

Ralph was smitten with a beautiful campus coed, Shirley Wilson, the daughter of a well-known Topeka police detective! That did not deter Ralph from gathering the courage to take her on their first date to see the legendary Ray Charles and Eartha Kitt at the Topeka Auditorium. The rest, as they say, is history! Ralph and Shirley made beautiful music together for over 65 years!

The couple made Hutchinson their home, building a house in 1961, that they have lived in since. Over the years, this home was filled with laughter and love as Ralph and Shirley hosted many backyard BBQs, birthdays celebrated with a red ‘You Are Special Today’ plate, baby and wedding showers, hotdog and chili nights on Halloween, and beloved family gatherings at Christmas.

Ralph’s hard-working and entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to enjoy a fulfilling career in Hutchinson. The majority of his career was in the heavy equipment business, where he was co-owner of Equipment Rental. One of the highlights of his job was proudly placing the rockets and the SR-71 Blackbird Spy Plane at the Cosmosphere. Ralph’s career culminated with his most fulfilling business yet, working with his son Kevin to grow a strong oil and natural gas exploration company.

Ralph and Shirley were an adventure-seeking couple who loved traveling with friends and family. On any given Friday night, everyone would know to find Ralph and Shirley with their friends at The Anchor Inn, enjoying Hutch’s tastiest homemade chips and salsa, and great company. There was one exception to this rule – if any of Ralph and Shirley’s grandkids had an event on a Friday night, they would be there showing support instead.

Ralph always maintained strong ties with HCC sports, as a charter member of the Quarterback Club, and he and Shirley were lifetime season ticket holders to the football and basketball games. Ralph was involved in the community as a member of the Reno County Planning Committee, and served his church, which was always an important part of his life, on building committees and as a friendly and welcoming usher.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Andrea Siefkes (Tim), Hutchinson, Pam Kennedy (Kelly), Haysville, Kevin Bowen (Jodee), Hutchinson, and Tamara Harbour (Phil), Shawnee; grandchildren, Courtney Siefkes, Austin, TX, Amy Messer (Travis), Gardner, Matthew Peil (Loni), Hutchinson, Lauren Rickner (James), Ottawa, Aubrey Kennedy, Haysville, Elli Bowen, Kansas City, Trace Bowen, Kansas City, Abby Harbour, Shawnee, Reed Harbour, Shawnee, Cale Harbour, Shawnee, Tayt Harbour, Shawnee; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret ‘Peg’ Bowen; and many nieces and nephews, with whom he remained close, and loved seeing at family gatherings over the years.&nbsp;

Private graveside service will be Friday, November 20, 2020, at Fairlawn Burial Park. A celebration of Ralph’s life will be announced at a later date. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

William “Bill” Leslie Mason, 81, passed away on October 21, 2020 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, due to complications from Covid. Bill was born on February 19, 1939 in Wichita, KS, to William Leslie and Jewel Whiteside Mason. A true American Patriot, Bill served his country in the United States Army when he was a young man. He believed that with hard work, passion, drive and, above all, integrity, anyone could achieve the American dream.&nbsp; Bill not only reached his dream; but he gladly mentored many others as they worked to achieve their dreams.

He started his career as a Computer System Analyst for Wesley Hospital before moving on to become the top salesman at Pitney Bowes. He later owned Roof Mechanics of Hutchinson and the Business Computer Center of Hutchinson before founding his current company, Sales Data, Inc., in 1979 in Hutchinson.

Bill loved what he did. He worked nonstop and enjoyed playing in the stock market in his free time. He was a well-respected businessman, a true friend, and a mentor to so many. Bill enjoyed attending WSU basketball games, working, sharing lunches and dinners with great friends and, did I say work? But above all, he loved Judy and his family, and he was blessed with a big one! His favorite saying to Judy was “I won’t make you stay home if you don’t make me go.” He married Judy Morrissey on August 31, 1979, in Wichita, KS. She survives.

Bill is survived by his children, Bret (Julie) Mason, Debby (Danny) Gooding, Kevin (Teresa) Meyer, Kelley (Lee) Pankratz, Peggy (Stan) Ramos, Patti Fahrbach (Tony Terlik), Kathy Bourell, Lucinda (Craig) Piligian, and Julie (Alex) Mederos. He is also survived by his brother, Danny (Sue) Mason, along with his 27 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jewel, and 2 grandsons, Bob Thomas and Ryan Bourell.

It was Bill’s wish to be cremated. The date and time of the Rosary and Mass of Christian burial will be announced soon. The family requests no flowers or food due to social distancing. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.

We are saddened that not only did Covid take a great man, it took away our ability to be together during this difficult time.

Judith (Judy) Mason, 83, passed away on November 11, 2020 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center due to complications from Covid. 

Born to the late William J. and Dorothy Mannerud Morrissey on May 3, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN, Judy married the love of her life, Bill Mason, on August 31, 1979 in Wichita, KS. Bill preceded her in death on October 21, 2020 also due to complications from Covid.

Judy’s family was her first love. She loved nothing more than family reunions and trips. She would plan them for months just to make sure that everyone could go and have fun. She loved board games, playing bridge and all card games, and outdoor relay games with the entire family.

Her love of dance was undeniable. She opened Judy’s School of Dance in 1964 and taught thousands of students until the time of her death. Judy was not only known for her amazing teaching and award winning choreography, but her students also benefited from her teaching them etiquette and life skills. The true essence of Judy was her immense devotion to a vast number of charities and families. This emanated from her Catholic faith and devotion to taking care of the poor and those in need. Through the Catholic Church, she supported families in Costa Rica, Philippines, Cuba and Hutchinson. At the time of her passing, she loved and was loved by 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include her brother William Morrissey of Laurie, MO; her sister Janet (Fred) Brinkop of Redwood City, CA; her brother Robert (Debbie) Morrissey of Overland Park, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her beloved husband Bill, she is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy, and two grandsons, Bob Thomas and Ryan Bourell. 

It was Judy’s wish to be cremated. The family is having a private service for both Judy and Bill for immediate family only. We are saddened that not only did Covid take a great woman, it took away our ability to be together during this difficult time. Bill preceded her in death on October 21, 2020 also due to complications from Covid.Judy’s family was her first love. She loved nothing more than family reunions and trips. She would plan them for months just to make sure that everyone could go and have fun. She loved board games, playing bridge and all card games, and outdoor relay games with the entire family.Her love of dance was undeniable. She opened Judy’s School of Dance in 1964 and taught thousands of students until the time of her death. Judy was not only known for her amazing teaching and award winning choreography, but her students also benefited from her teaching them etiquette and life skills. The true essence of Judy was her immense devotion to a vast number of charities and families. This emanated from her Catholic faith and devotion to taking care of the poor and those in need. Through the Catholic Church, she supported families in Costa Rica, Philippines, Cuba and Hutchinson. Don M. “Abe” Abrahams, 77, died Monday, November 9, 2020 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born July 25, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska to Melvin and Irma (Petracek) Abrahams.

Don spent much of his childhood in Wilbur, Nebraska (Czech Capital of Nebraska) where he was watched over by his beloved Bub (maternal grandmother) due to his parents working full time. For middle school and most of high school he attended school in Lincoln, NE. His father had to change jobs his junior year relocating the family to Oklahoma City, OK where Don finished high school. Having reached a height of 6’9”, he played varsity center for both Lincoln and Oklahoma City schools.

From high school, Don was scouted to play basketball for the Hutchinson Blue Dragons. After Hutchinson Community College graduation, he attended the University of Kansas where he was placed in a dorm with the basketball and football teams where he quickly became the ghostwriter for many term papers and other academic requirements. He enjoyed playing intramural basketball while there.

He returned to Hutchinson and began working at Cessna where he met his wife, Laura. She just happened to drive behind him into the plant parking lot on her first day there. Don stayed with Cessna as it changed hands to General Dynamics and then to Eaton. All told, he retired after 41.5 years in the same building...though not the same company. He enjoyed many activities while working there such as golf, building kites and playing practical jokes.

On June 16, 1973, he married Laura Wroe at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bunte who hosted many weddings in their backyard. By the time Don met Laura, he was a confirmed bachelor according to his friends, however, that turned out not to be the case. They built their dream home together in the sandhills north of Hutchinson where Don felt he could finally “breathe.”

Don had many pastimes including hunting, trapping and enjoying sports, but he was known for the ones that were a bit in left field. He took many people frog hunting and tagged monarch butterflies with his children as well as raising a large number of butterflies at home. Metal detecting, coin collecting and hunting for Native American Artifacts were also some of his favorite things to do. He turned a few plants into an acre of strawberries with the help of his wife, which they sold under the name UPick Strawberries for a few years. His sense of humor was something he was known for. Many hours were spent driving and wandering through the sandhills and speaking for at least an hour or more to anyone he ran into. He knew a lot about many different subjects and liked to share that knowledge with others. He was extremely curious about everything clear up until the very end of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Joyce Wolcott and in-laws, Harold “Red” and Vivian Wroe.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Laura, rural Inman; daughter and son-in-law, Kristie and Jason Jermark, Oakville, Ontario, Canada; son, Shane, Hutchinson; mother, Irma, Hutchinson; and newborn grandson, Wyatt Jermark. Due to the ongoing pandemic, he was unable to meet his grandson in person, however, they did meet virtually through many phone calls and video chats. Don is also survived by many extended family members and many friends that were as close as family.

Due to COVID restrictions, a public memorials service is planned for the spring of 2021. Friends may sign the book daily at Elliott Mortuary. In 1983, Danny began working at McKenzie Body Shop, becoming the owner in 1986. He retired in 2015, after working there for 32 years. Danny currently worked as a painter for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He was a proud and long-time member of the Wheat State Chapter of the American Truck Historical Association.

Mary Sylvina Mendoza, 88, of Hutchinson, died November 11, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 12, 1932, in Hutchinson, to Sebastian F. and Sanjuana ‘Sandy’ (Mora) Caudillo Sr.

Mary graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951. In addition to being a homemaker, she was co-owner and operator of Seasons Air with her husband, Joseph.

Mary was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she frequented the Adoration Chapel. She was a voracious reader and an avid KU basketball fan that you didn’t disturb during a game!

On April 12, 1951, Mary married Joseph I. Mendoza, in Hutchinson. He died in 1994.

Surviving are: children, Robert Mendoza (fiancé, Debora Gosztola), Hurst, TX, Mike Mendoza (Shirley Taggart), Paul Mendoza (Beverly), Hutchinson, Annie Ochs (Stan), Hutchinson, Patti Keen (Mike), Hutchinson,&nbsp; Mark Mendoza (Margarita), San Antonio, TX, Thomas Mendoza (Jaime), Lawton, OK, Julie Lawrence (Aaron), Chino Hills, CA; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Gabe Caudillo, Phillip Caudillo (Kathy), Judy Ruiz, Irene Owston, Sebastian Caudillo Jr. (Julie), all of Hutchinson; and a host of extended family members.

Lola Denise Neely, 66, died November 7, 2020, after a short battle with Covid-19, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. Lola was born January 18, 1954 in Newark, NJ., the daughter of Alfred and Ruby (Reynolds) Tubbs.

After receiving her cosmetology license in 1976, Lola often wowed everyone she knew with her flamboyant hairstyles and her iconic fashion choices. Years later, Lola went on to become both a certified nurse’s aide and certified medication aide, where she closely worked with those that were disabled. She was always enthusiastic about caring for others and she loved sharing a laugh or two. Lola was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She often enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to church on Sundays and she loved singing for the Lord. She was a member of New Resurrection Church. When she was not at church or with grandchildren, she was often out with friends, watching movies, or cooking with her family. Lola will be deeply missed by her family, friends and everyone that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Darryl Davis, Bishop Alvin Tubbs and Solomon Tubbs.

Lola Denise Neely | 1954 - 2020 |

Beverly Jeanene Branscom, 88, passed away November 10, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 7, 1932, at The Salvation Army Hospital in Wichita.

Beverly was a 1950 graduate of Turon High School. During the Christmas season, Beverly helped with the gift distribution at The Salvation Army. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels and was a former shareholder in Hilltop Manor, Inc., in Cunningham. Beverly attended various athletic events at Hutchinson Community College, was an avid supporter of the Blue Dragons, and a member of the college’s Quarterback Club. She was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and was a tireless ‘pie maker’ at the church’s Kansas State Fair cafeteria.

She enjoyed working and volunteering, but her most precious moments were when she was supporting the activities of her family. She, along with her husband, Dean, could be seen sitting in the bleachers cheering on their grandkids and great-grandkids at just about every game or activity. She was proud to be their ‘#1 fan’.

On October 8, 1950, Beverly married Gilbert Dean Branscom, in Turon. They shared over 70 years of marriage.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Dockie Gray; and a daughter, Shirley Stiggins.

Private funeral service, due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be Friday, November 13, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with The Reverend Ronnie Dykes officiating. Burial will follow in the Turon Cemetery. She was born September 7, 1932, at The Salvation Army Hospital in Wichita.Beverly was a 1950 graduate of Turon High School. During the Christmas season, Beverly helped with the gift distribution at The Salvation Army. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels and was a former shareholder in Hilltop Manor, Inc., in Cunningham. Beverly attended various athletic events at Hutchinson Community College, was an avid supporter of the Blue Dragons, and a member of the college’s Quarterback Club. She was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and was a tireless ‘pie maker’ at the church’s Kansas State Fair cafeteria.She enjoyed working and volunteering, but her most precious moments were when she was supporting the activities of her family. She, along with her husband, Dean, could be seen sitting in the bleachers cheering on their grandkids and great-grandkids at just about every game or activity. On April 19, 1958, she married Cecil P. Rodriguez. She was a homemaker. She attended Spanish Baptist Church.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; son, Picillano Montez; daughter, Helen Rodriguez; brother, Melesio Monarrez; sisters, Ermelinda Quintero and Lila Perez.

She married Lee Elmer Bergen in 1950; he died in 1984. She later married Clayton Cyrus Parsons; he died May 22, 2009.&nbsp;

Shawn Allen Mackey, 40, of Hutchinson, died November 8, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born November 7, 1980, in Richland, WA, to Calvin Lee and Vickie A. (Morton) Mackey.

Shawn graduated from Dodge City High School in 1999. He worked at Walmart for many years. Shawn was a very creative and talented artist who could make something out of nothing, but he especially loved painting. He also enjoyed photographing sunsets. Shawn was also very quick-witted and kind-hearted.

On August 8, 2015, he married Nicki Corwin, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents, Lee and Vickie Mackey; son, Evan Mackey; stepdaughter, Baleigh Cousins, brother, Derek Mackey; sister, Tracy Mackey; grandmother, Margaret Packebush; all of Hutchinson; and many extended family members.

Shawn was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

Sharon ‘Sheri’ Kay Showalter, passed away November 8, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born December 19, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Frederick Mitchell and Edna Mae (Rizor) Jennings.

Sheri was a 1962 graduate of Hutchinson High School, and was a paraprofessional at Prairie Hills Middle School, retiring after 34 years of service. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, painting, and cooking.

On March 23, 1963, Sheri and Ray Leon Showalter eloped, and were married in Pratt. She and Ray began dating when she was fifteen years old, and they shared over 57 years of marriage.

She is survived by husband, Ray Showalter of Hutchinson; son, Scott (Carol) Showalter of Abilene, TX; and grandchildren, Nicholas Ian Showalter, Kaitlin Marie Showalter, Zachary Allen Showalter, and Allison Elizabeth Showalter.

Sheri was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stuart Ray Showalter; and brother, Frederick Lynn Jennings.

She married John L. Franz on July 16, 1961 in Fairview, OK. He passed away October 17, 2009.&nbsp;

Elaine attended Corn Bible Academy, Tabor College, and Peel’s Beauty School in Hutchinson. She was a beautician for 58 years and was owner-operator of Elaine’s Hair Fashions. She was a member of Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church and loved the Buhler community. Elaine enjoyed fishing and playing games and cards with family and friends. She enjoyed attending activities of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and she loved her dog Rose.

Survivors include her children, Scott (Pam) Franz of Hillsboro, Sheri Lautt, of Shawnee, KS, John A. (Jessica) Franz of Olathe; ten grandchildren; a brother, Curtis (Debbie) Karber of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law Joyce Franz of Wichita; and a brother-in-law, Rod (Karen) Franz of Manhattan.

Arthur H. Roberts, 84, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Lane County Hospital in Dighton, Kansas.

He was born on February 14, 1936 in Nashville, Tennessee the son of 
James Clough and Margaret Elizabeth (Street) Roberts. He moved to 
Fowler, Kansas in 1971 from Wichita, Kansas where he resided until 
moving to Dodge City, Kansas in 1982. He worked for West Plains Energy 
until the closing of the Dodge City Office. Upon retiring from the 
electric company became a realtor for Coldwell Banker.&nbsp; After retiring 
for a second time, he filled his time working at the United Wireless 
Arena greeting patrons at the elevator.

Art was very active throughout his whole life, while living in 
Fowler, he was an active member of St Augustine’s Church in Meade 
Kansas.&nbsp; Upon closing of that parish, he became a member of St. 
Cornelius Episcopal church in Dodge City. He was active with the 4-H 
club in Meade County, helping with various livestock and cooking 
projects with his children, Arthur was always an avid chef throughout 
his life. After relocating to Dodge City, he became involved with the 
Carnegie art center for many years.

Survivors include: his 3 daughters, Dawn Guenthner, North 
Carolina/West Virginia, Jennifer Whipple and husband Layton, Beeler, 
Kansas, and Lisa Sauls and husband Larry, Texhoma, Oklahoma; a son, 
David Roberts, Elizabeth, Colorado; a sister, Kay Toft, Cincinnati, 
Ohio; 7 Grandchildren; Michael Chinn, Hutchinson, Kansas, Margret 
Guenthner, Branson, Missouri, Sydney Horacek and husband Dustin, 
Spearville, Kansas, Ayden Whipple, Beeler, Kansas, Jami Forgey and 
husband Thomas, Walsh, Colorado, Kati Alexander, Hilo, Hawaii, and Ryan

Marjorie Lee ‘Marge’ Pearce, 87, of Burrton, died November 6, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 2, 1933, in Burrton, to Chester C. and Faye L. (Brewer) Collins.

Marge graduated from Burrton High School in 1951. In addition to raising her family, Marge worked at Burrton IGA for many years before becoming Burrton City Clerk in 1975, a job she held until retiring in 1995. Marge was a member of Burrton United Methodist Church, where she was pianist and organist for over 40 years. She was a member of United Methodist Women and Order of the Eastern Star. Marge also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, enjoyed playing softball, and was an avid cat lover.

On November 11, 1951, she married Joseph ‘JD’ Pearce, in Aiken, South Carolina. They shared nearly 69 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are children, Dan Pearce (Debbie), Protection, John Pearce, Jim Pearce, Kerrie Considine (Barry) all of Burrton, Randy Pearce (Lynette), Wamego; grandchildren, CJ Pearce, Meghan Bui (Dung), Aimee Bastian (Clay), Ashley Shilts (Sam), Christopher, Steven, and Kristen Pearce; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlene Cornett; brother, Harold Collins; and great-granddaughter, October Shilts.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Burrton United Methodist Church, 114 W. Center St, Burrton. Burial will follow in Burrton Cemetery.

Judy Mae Diehl, 75, died November 5, 2020, at her home. She was born December 16, 1944, in Texhoma, OK, to Howard Wayne and Ellen Mae (Blake) Helton.

Judy was a 1962 graduate of Syracuse High School. She was a Medical Records instructor at Hutchinson Community College. Judy was a member of the Heart of Kansas Quilt Guild, and past president of Blowing Sands Chapter of American Business Women's Association. Anyone who came to the Diehl home was welcomed, and soon became a member of the family.

On June 2, 1962, she married Gary Wayne Diehl, in Syracuse. They shared over 51 years of marriage, prior to his death on March 28, 2014.

Judy is survived by sons, Jeffery (Olivia) Diehl of Fairport Harbor, OH, and Dwain Diehl of Liberal; longtime companion, Nick Nicholls of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Aaron Darling, Brock Darling, Jourd Anne Diehl, and Chelsea Diehl; great-grandchildren, Bryson Ferguson and Rylee Ferguson; siblings, Jan (Ronnie) Diehl of Clayton, SC, Linda Todd of Syracuse, Jim (Barbara) Helton of Cherokee Village, AR, Joe (Tammy) Helton of Holcomb, John (Anne) Helton of Council Bluffs, IA, Joyce (John Ed) Armstrong of Syracuse, Jennifer (James) Brucker of Syracuse; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Dennis Lee Nicklin, 75, died November 5, 2020, at his home. He was born September 30, 1945, in Great Bend, to Robert Cogswell ‘Nick’ and Nadine Orpha (Helm) Nicklin.&nbsp;

Dennis graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1963. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving from 1963-1966.&nbsp; Dennis retired as a glazier. He loved to travel, and enjoyed going on many trips. Dennis was the founding member of the Central Kansas Corvette Association (CKCA). He LOVED his corvettes!

Dennis is survived by nieces and nephews, Nicole Barnes (Tod) of Pyeongtaek, South Korea, Kimberley Nicklin of Falls Church, VA, Shaun Nicklin of Golden, CO, Allison Nicklin of Philadelphia, PA; great-nephew and great-niece, Keagan and Carys Barnes of Korea; and his faithful companion, Karen Ukens of Windom.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert ‘Bob’ Nicklin and Craig Nicklin.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Elliott Chapel, with Kenny Graham officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Private family inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Kelly had driven trucks over-the-road since 1947, and was a lifetime motorcycle enthusiast. On June 14, 1957, he married Jacquelyn J. Lyon.&nbsp; They shared over 63 years of marriage.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Kelly of South Hutchinson; sons, Michael E. Kelly of Arlington, TX, and Tracy L. (Debbie) Kelly of Hutchinson; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Lela Rose Fisher, 73, died on November 5, 2020 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, KS. She was born July 3, 1947 in Newton, KS., the daughter of Norris A. and Mary A. (Baker) Nichols.

Lela worked for Durham School Services as a driver and trainer and retired after 16 years. On October 5, 1964, she married Francis E. Fisher Sr. in Newton. Lela loved to listen to audio books, going fishing and her family always came first. She was a member and attended Salt City Cowboy Church.

Lela was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth, Norris, Morris, Freddie and Herbert Nichols; sister, Lenora Slaven and twin sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; children, LeAnna (Debra Hacker) Buchta, Francis E. Fisher Jr. and Shawna (David) Holland; 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

A funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Salt City Cowboy Church, 810 N. Main St., South Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Montie McFerrin officiating. KS.Sidney was born December 29, 1941 in Protection, KS, the son of John and Mabel (Godsoe) Tyler. On October 6, 1961 he married Ruth L. Morgan in Colorado Springs, CO. To this union they were blessed with four children, Donna, Tammy, Sidney Jr. and Ricky.
