Wayne Wendleton Windsor, 87, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021 at his home in Haven, Kansas. He was born in Newton, Kansas, Aug. 22, 1933, the oldest son of Kenneth and Mildred (Wendleton) Windsor.

He grew up on a farm west of Peabody, Kansas and graduated from Peabody High School in 1951. He was a graduate of Kansas State University and also received his teaching certificate from Emporia State University.

Wayne married Mary Lackey on Aug. 23, 1958 and began his teaching career at Clifton, Kansas as a science teacher and football coach. After five years in Clifton, he moved to Haven and taught 27 more years. His 1968 track team was undefeated and state champion.  He also coached two state champion golf teams.

After retiring from teaching, he and Mary became antique furniture dealers.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Eileen Beavers and husband, John of Chapman, KS.; sons, Brian Windsor of Oklahoma City, OK., and David Windsor of Hutchinson, KS.; daughter, Angela Curran and husband, Kevin of Kansas City, MO.; sister, Nelda Windsor of St. Peters, MO.; brothers, Charles Windsor of Cypress, TX., and Paul Windsor of Wichita, KS.; and grandchildren, Tom and Maggie Curran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Ott Funeral Home, Haven.  Burial will follow at 2 p.m., Saturday, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 9 at Ott Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Peabody Historical Society in care of Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Haven, KS 67543.
