Judy Mae Diehl, 75, died November 5, 2020, at her home. She was born December 16, 1944, in Texhoma, OK, to Howard Wayne and Ellen Mae (Blake) Helton.

Judy was a 1962 graduate of Syracuse High School. She was a Medical Records instructor at Hutchinson Community College. Judy was a member of the Heart of Kansas Quilt Guild, and past president of Blowing Sands Chapter of American Business Women's Association. Anyone who came to the Diehl home was welcomed, and soon became a member of the family.

On June 2, 1962, she married Gary Wayne Diehl, in Syracuse. They shared over 51 years of marriage, prior to his death on March 28, 2014.

Judy is survived by sons, Jeffery (Olivia) Diehl of Fairport Harbor, OH, and Dwain Diehl of Liberal; longtime companion, Nick Nicholls of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Aaron Darling, Brock Darling, Jourd Anne Diehl, and Chelsea Diehl; great-grandchildren, Bryson Ferguson and Rylee Ferguson; siblings, Jan (Ronnie) Diehl of Clayton, SC, Linda Todd of Syracuse, Jim (Barbara) Helton of Cherokee Village, AR, Joe (Tammy) Helton of Holcomb, John (Anne) Helton of Council Bluffs, IA, Joyce (John Ed) Armstrong of Syracuse, Jennifer (James) Brucker of Syracuse; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Diehl; parents-in-law, W.B. and Mildred Diehl; granddaughters, Sydnei Taylor Diehl and Emily Lynn Diehl; and brother-in-law, Bill Todd.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2020, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

Kenton Keith Krehbiel, 71, of Colby, died Wednesday, November 4, 2020, 
at the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis, in Topeka, KS. He
 was born July 24, 1949, in Hutchinson, KS, to Walter and Dorothy 
(Goering) Krehbiel. 

Kenton started school at Pretty Prairie and 
graduated from Inman High School, in 1967. He then attended Brown Mackie
 College in Salina, where he met Sheila Nonamaker, of Cedar, KS. They 
were married August 21, 1968, at the Inman Mennonite Church. They lived 
in Kansas City for a time, where they both worked at KU Med Center, then
 Kenton managed King’s Food Host. In 1973, the couple moved to Colby, KS
 and bought Murphy’s Café, which they ran for one year. Kenton then 
worked at the Colby Super Market for 4 years, before beginning his 
career with the United States Postal Service. He worked for the USPS 
from 1975, until retiring in 2012. He served as the Goodland Postmaster 
from 1997-2004 and the Colby Postmaster from 2004-2012. 
Kenton was very active in his community. Growing up he was a member of 
the Reno County Thomadora 4-H Club and then was leader for the 
Tumbleweed 4-H Club, in Colby for 14 years, while his girls were members
 and continued to support the organization. He was a member of Kiwanis 
from 1974 until his death and held many positions at the state and local
 levels. He supported Colby Community College as a Trustee from 
1989-present and was a member of the CCC Endowment Foundation, serving 
many positions. He was a member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer 
Program) for 16 years and volunteered for Genesis Food Bank. He was also
 a Trustee for the Pierre Henry Foundation, a member of Friends of 
Pioneer Memorial Library and supported the Thomas County Historical 
Society and helped with many of their events. Kenton was a member of the
 Inman Mennonite Church and attended the Colby United Methodist Church 
and Celebration Community Church. 
Kenton had many hobbies, including collecting baseball cards, coins, and
 ball caps, golfing, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed volunteering as a 
Scholar’s Bowl judge and showing his support at the various local high 
school and college events. He attended many of his grandchildren’s 
events also. 
Kenton was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Steven Hanschu. 
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila; daughters, Sharon 
(Michael) Hansen and Brenda (Adam) Inman; grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb
 Hansen and Avery, Brady and Colby Inman; sister Beth Hanschu, brother 
Kevin (Sue) Krehbiel, uncle Clarence Goering and numerous nieces, 
nephews, cousins and friends. 
There will be a drive-through visitation on the North side of the Colby 
United Methodist Church, on Sunday, November 8, 2020, from 5-7:00 p.m. A
 Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020, 
outside the Colby Community College Cultural Arts Building. Masks are 
required and you will need to bring your own lawn chairs for the 
service. Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020
 at the North Inman Cemetery, Inman, KS.

Kenton Keith Krehbiel

Juanita Ruth Silvey, 83, died November 2, 2020, in Hutchinson. She was born May 14, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Floyd and Ruth (Stoughton) Bogner.

Juanita graduated from Burrton High school in 1954. On August 22, 1954, she married Jim F. Silvey in Burrton. They shared 35 years together before his passing on June 12, 1990.

Shortly after her marriage she and her husband purchased what would become their lifetime home on the West side of Hutchinson. From that location they operated Shady Knoll Farm supplying fresh produce to grocery stores, markets and restaurants in the Reno County area. Juanita began doing tax returns in the late 1950′s from the front room of their home. That little business grew into a successful accounting practice that she managed for 62 years. She loved gardening and collecting antique jars. Juanita was a woman of great faith; her well worn and well loved bible was always close at hand and she loved listening to gospel music. Always active, she enjoyed working the farm and could be seen driving tractors and baling hay.

Juanita is survived by daughter, Donnita Rockwell (Kevin Kershaw), Pretty Prairie; sons, Michael Silvey (Edna), Newhall, California, and Russell Silvey, Hutchinson; granddaughters, Elizabeth Belliveau (Edward), Pretty Prairie, and Kaitlyn Silvey, Newhall, California; great-grandson, James Belliveau, Pretty Prairie; brothers, Floyd Bogner Jr. (Kathy), Burrton, and Lloyd Bogner, Holland, Michigan; and sister, Wanda Meier, Burrton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruth Bogner; husband, Jim Silvey; and grandson, Christopher Duane Silvey.

Derek Lee Beck, 26, passed away November 1, 2020, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born May 26, 1994, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, to Kimberly (McGonigle) Beck and Eric K. Beck.

Derek, from a very young age, was obsessed with cars and trucks. In later years, he loved riding around, listening to the radio. His vehicles had to look just right and he was always cleaning and polishing them. Derek loved all his pets through the years, but especially the German Shorthair Pointer, Maddie Mae. Cooking was a favorite pastime for Derek, and perfection was his goal, especially concerning his hair and clothes. He had a loving and sensitive heart.

Derek attended USD 309 Nickerson schools, and graduated from the Eric Fisher Academy, Wichita. He worked at State Beauty Supply, Wichita, and as a cook. Derek was a member of Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church.

Derek was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Howard and Verna Carmichael, Jack and Zola McGonigle; paternal grandmother, Sandy Beck; and uncle, Jon Carmichael.

Derek is survived by his mother, Kimberly M. McGonigle; sister, Jessica M. Beck; three nephews; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Georgia McGonigle; father, Eric K. Beck (Diane); paternal grandparents, Loren Beck; maternal uncles, Jack McGonigle (Kathleen), Charles McGonigle (Amy); paternal uncle, Lenny Beck; aunt, Vicki Strong; four stepsisters, Jess, Liz, Jennifer, and Becky; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.&nbsp;

Padgy Wanee Turley, 83, died November 3, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born October 24, 1937, in rural Hanover, to Ernest ‘Ernie’ and Marvel (Rose) Buesig.&nbsp;

Padgy graduated from Marysville High School in 1955. She was the owner of P and J Brokerage, Hutchinson. Padgy’s love for the outdoors and gardening was second to her love for her grandchildren.

On June 15, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, James ‘Jim’ Turley at the Afton Church in Marysville. In 1975, they moved to Hutchinson from Medina, OH, and shared 52 years of marriage before his death on September 23, 2007.

Padgy is survived by sons, Richard Turley and James Turley (Wendy), all of Hutchinson; brothers, Bob Buesig and Jerry Buesig; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family, Cindy and Michele.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Turley; one brother; and one sister.

Beverly Ann Kaufmann, 74, died on October 31, 2020 at Diversicare, Hutchinson, KS. She was born March 7, 1946 in New Hampton, IA., the daughter of Arthur O. and Edna M. (Pierce) Larson.

Beverly graduated from New Hampton High School in 1964. On June 10, 1967, she married Thomas Kaufmann in Nashua, IA. She worked as a nurse aide for over 42 years.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas; brothers, Alvin, Earl and Larry Larson; and sisters, Marie Pierce and Jane McBride.

Survivors include her son, Christopher Kaufmann and wife, Lisa; and two grandchildren, Jarron and Tenley Kaufmann.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Hutchinson Funeral Chapel and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Linda was a 1960 graduate of Sylvia Rural High School. She had a passion for working with dogs, from agility training to teaching obedience classes at the Hutchinson Kennel Club. Linda worked at Wesley Towers, and Fairfield and Sylvia schools as a cook.&nbsp;

She enjoyed doing cross stitch and was an avid crocheting enthusiast, making afghans for seemingly everyone she knew. Linda was an accomplished baker, with her homemade cinnamon rolls being one of the family’s favorite. She was a homemaker who enjoyed doing things with and for her family. Linda treasured her family, and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.&nbsp;

On September 10, 1961, she married Max Harold Gardner, in Sylvia. They shared over 59 years of marriage.

Linda is survived by husband, Max Gardner of Hutchinson; son, John (Becky) Gardner of Pocahontas, AR; daughter, Gayle (Lee) Johnson of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Brooke Barker, Bailey Gardner, Austin Johnson, and Jenna Gardner; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Dorothy Ann Pugh and Dixie Dodson.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with Steve Sears officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

Teresa Marie ‘Terri’ Willis, 62, of Hutchinson, died November 1, 2020, at Hospice House. She was born October 9, 1958, in Olathe, to Edwin and Florence (Smith) Willis.

She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Kelly Willis.

Theda Maryse Ball, daughter of Ernest Fred and Eva Marie (Campbell) Minor, was born July 2, 1934, in Leoti, Kansas.  She passed away peacefully at her home in Norton, Kansas, surrounded by her family, on October 30, 2020, at the age of 86.

Theda grew up in the Leoti community and graduated from the Wichita County Community High School where she was very active in band, vocal, cheerleading and basketball.  On October 7, 1956, she married Max Colvin Ball at the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti.  To this union three children were born.  The family moved 16 times around the state of Kansas, due to Max's profession of being a brick mason.   In 1960, they made Norton their permanent home.  

Theda was a member of the Presbyterian Church.  Theda was a homemaker and loved raising her family and her garden.  She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Spending time together, Theda and Max enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting and bird watching.  

Survivors include:  her loving husband, Max Ball, of their home in Norton; three children, Patricia (Dave) Fischer, Randall (Tammy) Ball, and Tammie (Dan) Bainter, all of Norton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon Minor, Stilwell, Oklahoma; two sisters, Lois Phillis, Hutchinson, Kansas; Margaret Turner, Scott City, Kansas; other relatives and friends.

Theda was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, Gerald, Leon, Duane, Vernon, Kay, Harold, Donald and Larry Minor, and two sisters, Joyce Farr and Charlotte Carson.

There will be a private family service held at a later date.  

A memorial has been established to the Theda Ball Memorial Fund.

C. Janice Brauer, 95, of South Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Mennonite Manor. She was born October 12, 1925 in San Juan, Texas, the daughter of Fay and Mabel (Linn) Snowden.

She married Milton E. Brauer on November 24, 1944 at Harlingen, Texas, moving to Haven, Kansas after WWII in 1945. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1995.

Janice was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haven, where she started the music choir for the church in 1948, and was director for 60 years. She had the phone numbers of each church person, man, lady, or child, calling them on a birthday or anniversary, wishing them a “Happy Birthday or Anniversary and many more with God’s Blessings.”

She loved her farm life of housework, yardwork, and the driving of tractors, grain trucks or combine farming.&nbsp; Her well known “trademark” was a loud and shrill whistle, smile and the wave of a hand to everyone.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Linden K. Meyer of Birmingham, Alabama; three grandchildren, Greg (Carrie) Meyer, Jenna (Paul) Green, and Nathan Brauer; five great-grandchildren, Cason and Kiley Green, Hadden, Spencer and Nash Meyer; sisters-in-law, Connie Brauer of Haven, Theresa Kincaid of Des Moines, Iowa, and Hermione Brandis of Hesston; and many nieces and nephews.

Eugene Williams, 44, passed away on October 29, 2020, at his home. He was born March 1, 1976, in Borger, TX, to Terry Eugene and Carol Elaine (Cooke) Williams.

Eugene was a 1996 graduate of Yarbrough High School, Goodwell, OK, and a 2006 graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL. He served in the United States Navy from June 1998 to February 2007.&nbsp; Eugene was employed by Helix HP1 as an electronics technician officer. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed shooting and reloading ammunition. Eugene loved riding his motorcycle, tinkering in his shop on the metal lathe, working on the computer, playing guitar, and loving his ‘fur babies’. He was an intelligent and kind-hearted individual, who was always seeking to increase his knowledge--to learn about anything and everything.

On September 25, 2010, Eugene married Mindy Renee Gardner, in Ulysses, KS.

He is survived by his wife, Mindy Williams of Hutchinson, KS; father, Terry Williams and wife, Tammy of El Dorado Springs, MO; aunt, Tammie Crafton of Fritch, TX; and cousin, Matt Crafton of Stinnett, TX.

Eugene was preceded in death by his mother, Carol E. Williams, and an uncle, Mike Crafton.

Cremation has taken place. Private memorial service will be Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Andy Addis officiating. Vernon C. Martin Sr., 88, of Hutchinson, died October 25, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born November 8, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Leonard and Hazel (Roher) Martin.

Vernon graduated from Central High School in 1950. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving in the Korean War. Vernon was a Class A Mechanic and worked for Morton Salt for 30 years. He belonged to the VFW Post 906 as a Lifetime Member, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68, Moose Lodge 982, Confectionary Union, and the United Steel Workers Union.

On May 2, 1955, Vernon married Seville Anna Irwin, in Omaha, Nebraska. They shared 65 years of marriage together.

He is survived by wife, Seville Martin, sons, Vernon Martin Jr. and Randall Martin, all of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Martin; and brothers, Glenn and Gregg Martin.

Gwinnell R. Nickel, 87, died on October 28, 2020 at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson, KS. She was born April 25, 1933 in Doniphan, MO., the daughter of Noble A. and Pearl L. (Hunt) Bass. 

Gwinnell worked for Fort Worth Cattle Express for over four years and C&amp;H Transportation for over 10 years. She later worked as a housekeeper in the Dallas, TX. area and later moved to Hutchinson and continued housekeeping until she retired. Gwinnell was great at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed designing and making lamp shades and doing upholstery work.

Gwinnell was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Bill, Dusty, Bob, Dean and Hugh Bass; and sisters, Maxine Edwards and Judy Cummings.

Survivors include her children, Janet Lee Smith of Texas, Deborah Ann Baughman of Hutchinson and Larry Wayne Smith of Texas; a brother, Jack Bass of Hutchinson; grandsons, Justin Bartak of North Dakota, Gary L. Argo of Missouri and Justin Wilcher of Texas, and one great grandson, Jordan Bartak of North Dakota.

She was born April 25, 1933 in Doniphan, MO., the daughter of Noble A. and Pearl L. (Hunt) Bass. Gwinnell worked for Fort Worth Cattle Express for over four years and C&amp;H Transportation for over 10 years. She later worked as a housekeeper in the Dallas, TX. area and later moved to Hutchinson and continued housekeeping until she retired. Gwinnell was great at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed designing and making lamp shades and doing upholstery work.Gwinnell was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Bill, Dusty, Bob, Dean and Hugh Bass; and sisters, Maxine Edwards and Judy Cummings.Survivors include her children, Janet Lee Smith of Texas, Deborah Ann Baughman of Hutchinson and Larry Wayne Smith of Texas; a brother, Jack Bass of Hutchinson; grandsons, Justin Bartak of North Dakota, Gary L. Bruce Andrew Toews, 57, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020, at Pleasant View Estates in Inman.

He was born April 5, 1963, in Moundridge, the son of Harvey R. and Jane Penner Toews. He was a graduate of Inman High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Bethel College, North Newton.

Bruce was a resident of Neodesha for the last 32 years. He spent his entire teaching career of 30 years as the kindergarten through 6th grade vocal music teacher in the Neodesha school district.

He was a lifetime member of the Inman Mennonite Church. He also attended the Neodesha United Methodist Church, where he played the organ and piano and was involved in their Vacation Bible School program.

He is survived by his mother, Jane, Inman; brother, Mark, Inman; sister, Rhonda (Dave) Toews Moore, Inman; close friend, Susan Gouldie, Chanute; niece, Andrea Vandever-Moore and nephew, Nickolaus Vandever-Moore, both of Inman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Toews.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Inman Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, at North Inman Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Inman Mennonite Church. Penny graduated from Hutchinson High School. She was a homemaker and a CMA for over 25 years at Wesley Towers. Penny enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and watching soap operas and loving her family endlessly.

Betty Jean Keeler, 90, died October 26, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born August 24, 1930, in Stafford, to John Park and Minnie Hollis (Bemis) Smith, Jr.&nbsp;

Betty graduated from Stafford High School and attended Hutchinson Community Junior College. She retired from the Dillons Bakery, after 20 years of service. Betty enjoyed reading, flowers, and playing Pitch, Solitaire, and Phase 10. Her favorite card game though was Bridge; Betty was an avid Bridge player, and enjoyed the friendly competition and friendship. She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson. Betty always felt blessed, but she was also a blessing to many others with her warmth, love, and hugs.&nbsp;

On June 25, 1950, she married Lloyd ‘Allan’ Keeler in Hutchinson. They shared 47 years of marriage before his death on November 13, 1997.

Betty is survived by children Karen Crain (Jim) of Argyle, TX, Kenneth Keeler (Jackie) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kimberly Gustafson (David) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Benjamin Crain (Rachel), Kristin Cumbie (Jeff), Kendall Keeler, Kyleigh Geary (Justin), Katie Collins (Mike), and Brody Gustafson (Katy); great-grandchildren, Colton, Hudson, Leighton, Makiah, Nevaeh, Carter, Cason, Morgandi, Corinne, Nora, Park, and Guy; sister, Donna Kay Swanson (Jerry) of Loveland, CO; and sister-in-law, Glenda (Smith) Giles of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John P. Smith III.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with David Tappe and Jim Crain officiating. James Albert ‘Jim’ Ragsdale Sr., 85, of Hutchinson, died October 26, 2020, at his&nbsp; home. He was born September 30, 1935, in Kansas City, MO, to James and Ruby (Gillette) Ragsdale.

Jim graduated from Mehlville High in Lemay, MO in 1954. Following high school he joined the United States Army and served until 1958. Jim worked for 19 years at Associated Grocers as a truck driver and 17 years at Wheeled Coach in assembly and inspection. He was a member of the Central Kansas Gun Club.

Jim is survived by sons, James Ragsdale Jr., Dwain Ragsdale, Antonio Ragsdale, all of Hutchinson, Robert ‘Bob’ Falcone, Cedar Hill, MO; daughters, Denise Loy, Hutchinson, Lisa Gann-Ragsdale, Hillsboro, MO; brothers, Bob Ragsdale, Wichita, Don Ragsdale, Hutchinson; sister, Sue Ragsdale, Sylvia; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Gerry Lou King.

Vounia Ray Allen, 78, of Hutchinson, died October 27, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village. She was born September 3, 1942, in Atoka, OK, to Elton E. and Lessie E. (Melton) Adams.

Vounia graduated from high school in Kiowa, OK, in 1961. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and canning food, and listening to gospel music. Vounia had a strong love for her children and grandchildren and enjoyed road trips to visit friends and family. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

On November 16, 1962, Vounia married Vernon Gene Allen, in Antlers, OK. He died April 8, 2010.

She is survived by children, Cody Allen (Jelice), Wichita, Kathy Krebaum (Jim), Linda and Jennifer Allen, all of Hutchinson; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Williams (Joe), Sylvia; and brother, Donald Adams (Betty), Mustang, OK.

Vounia was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elvie Reed.

 </figure>Vounia Ray Allen, 78, of Hutchinson, died October 27, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village. She was born September 3, 1942, in Atoka, OK, to Elton E. and Lessie E. (Melton) Adams.Vounia graduated from high school in Kiowa, OK, in 1961. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and canning food, and listening to gospel music. Vounia had a strong love for her children and grandchildren and enjoyed road trips to visit friends and family. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.On November 16, 1962, Vounia married Vernon Gene Allen, in Antlers, OK. He died April 8, 2010.She is survived by children, Cody Allen (Jelice), Wichita, Kathy Krebaum (Jim), Linda and Jennifer Allen, all of Hutchinson; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Williams (Joe), Sylvia; and brother, Donald Adams (Betty), Mustang, OK.Vounia was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elvie Reed.Private graveside service will be held in Abbyville Cemetery.
