Alvin ‘Al’ P. Eash, 87, died October 22, 2020, at his home. He was born May 9, 1933, in Yoder, to Perry H. and Anna S. (Yoder) Eash.

Al volunteered alternative civilian service from 1952 to 1953 in a psychiatric hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. He mixed and delivered feed for Bornholdt Feed and Seed, and sold feed and seed for Security Elevator. Al retired with 30 years of service as the elevator superintendent for The Farmers Cooperative Grain Company, Abbyville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, passionately mowing his lawn for the past 20 years, playing the guitar, mandolin, and Qchord, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Al was a member of&nbsp;Journey in South&nbsp;Hutchinson.

On August 31, 1958, Al married Betty A. Borntrager, in Hutchinson. They shared over 62 years of marriage.

He is survived by wife, Betty Eash of Abbyville; children, Carlton (Diana) Eash of Hutchinson, Doreen (Mark) McCabe of Larkspur, CO, and Evert Eash of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Crystal (Will) Weast, Bayleigh (Brandon) Warner, Carla Eash, Emily McCabe, Christa McCabe, Ryan McCabe, Jared Eash, Tyler (Amanda) Eash, Lindsy Eash, and Kelsey (Caeden) Fly; step-grandchild, James (Kali) Avery; great-grandchildren, Cody Weast, Raelynn Warner, Cooper Eash, Harper Eash, Cannon Bryant, Kambrie Fly, and Kip Fly; step-great-grandchildren, Abi Weast and Austin Weast; and siblings, Samuel (Esther) Eash, Perry (Ada) Eash, Clara (Glenn) Yoder; and, sister-in-law, Alice Eash.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Anna Eash, and a brother, Ervin Eash.

Private funeral service will be Monday, October 26, 2020, at&nbsp;Journey in South&nbsp;Hutchinson, with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Private burial will be in Yoder Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary.

Sara Vieyra, 86, of Hutchinson, died October 22, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 24, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Juan and Tranquilina (Marquez) Razo.

Sara graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a cook for the lunch counter at Woolworths for many years until it closed. Sara was an avid Bingo player and loved to cook for her family. She was a longtime member of the former Southwest Baptist Church.

On May 19, 1956, Sara married Daniel V. Vieyra, in Hutchinson. They shared 64 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: children, Anthony Vieyra, Melinda Aleman (Richard), Alex Vieyra, Vince Vieyra; sister, Rachel Caudillo; brothers, David Razo (Joyce), Tony Razo (Linda); sister-in-law, Carol Razo, all of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Melissa Vieyra; sister, Ruth Garcia; and brothers, John and Joe Razo.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2020, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Susie Koehn Schmidt was born on May 5, 1931 to Cornelious and Alda Koehn at Ulysses, Kansas. She passed away on October 24, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, Kansas. Having reached the age of 89 years, she is now awaiting the resurrection, the final judgement, and her eternal reward.

Times were difficult in the 30’s, and her family moved to Fredonia, Kansas, as her parents sought a place where they could provide for them all. After about seven years her father was advised to move to California by his brother, Minister Abe T. Koehn. So, it was in 1942 that the nine Koehn children and their parents moved to Winton, California. It was quite a trip with the speed limit being only 35 miles per hour.

When Susie was twelve years old, she got converted and was baptized on the confession of her faith by Minister Hirem Mininger on December 12, 1943. She embraced this faith all her life. She continued her basic education in the Winton Public Schools. It was at this time that California required children to be enrolled in school until sixteen years of age, so she attended Livingston High School for a short time.

Susie kept herself busy and was a very hard worker. After leaving school she worked in various places to help support the family. She worked in a nursing home for a time and had thoughts of going to school to become a nurse.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; At 18 years of age, Susie was married to me, Edward LeRoy Schmidt on July 13, 1949. This union was blessed with seven children, four boys and three girls. They are all married, and we have thirty-two grandchildren and seventy-two great-grandchildren. Between being a farmer’s wife and meeting the demands of raising a large family, Susie was a diligent homemaker and carried a heartfelt concern for the salvation of her children. She could often be found out in the field doing what she could to help while also conscientiously keeping house and meeting her children’s needs. Since she was a splendid cook, she enjoyed sharing hospitality and often had Sunday company. &nbsp;

There were many opportunities to serve and she endeavored to serve the Lord in her varying responsibilities. Whether it was as a minister’s wife at our home congregation at Livingston, CA, and later at Willcox, AZ, or as a missionary in Mexico, Guatemala and El Mirage, AZ, she was a prayerful help in the work of the Lord. In 1988 we were asked to Pastor the small congregation in Willcox, AZ. We bought a farm there and lived on it until retiring in 1995.

After retirement we lived for awhile in the nearby community of Sunsites. In 2007, we moved to Halstead, KS, and for a time lived off and on at both Willcox and Halstead. As Susie’s health began to decline, we settled more permanently in Halstead with Susie moving into the Moundridge Manor in December of 2015. Being a very determined and active person most of her life, she found it difficult to accept her inability to live independently, but the Manor staff very graciously endeavored to help through this time. Prior to March 2020, I was able to be with her and cherish those days we could spend together reading, praying and listening to the singing at the Manor. We shared life’s joys and sorrows together for seventy-one years. God has richly blessed our lives together, and for this we thank you, Lord!

Susie was proceeded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Edward; her children: Milton and Lucille Schmidt, Pearce, Arizona; Clayton and Marilyn Schmidt, Buhl, Idaho; Frances and Lonnie Medina, Buhl, Idaho; Margaret and Kenneth Conley, Halstead, Kansas; Glenn and Linda Schmidt, Willcox, Arizona; Daniel and Ronda Schmidt, Willcox, Arizona; Karen and Murray Wiebe, Willcox, Arizona; one sister: Rosella Millsap, New Plymouth, Idaho; one sister-in-law: Norma Koehn, Atmore, Alabama; 32 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Mountain Valley Mennonite Church, 3588 E. We remember Laverna “Tonny” Emily Dororthy (Tonn) Mayer who received her eternal blessings this last Friday, October 23, 2020.

Laverna was born to Albert and Elizabeth Tonn in their farm home at Haven, Kansas, on October 18, 1921. On November 13, 1921, she was brought into the family of God by her Trinitarian baptism at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Haven, where she was also confirmed on Palm Sunday, April 14, 1935. She attended the St. Paul Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Haven High School in 1939. Since her earliest years, she had developed a real love for music and mastered the piano. During high school Laverna played piano, and accompanied soloists, instrumentalists and the orchestra, as well as playing the saxophone, cello and viola. In 1941, she graduated from St. John’s Lutheran College at Winfield, Kansas, with a music and teaching degree. Following her graduation, she taught at Imanuel Lutheran School, Albuquerque, New Mexico, from 1941 to 1945.

At the college in Winfield she met Herman Mayer whom she married at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Haven, on August 12, 1945. Upon his graduation from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1945, Laverna (Tonny) and Herman (Hub) after one year at missionary school in 1946 went to the Philippines where they helped open the LCMS mission work immediately following World War II. During their 15 years in the Philippines they founded 11 congregations there having spent five years in Luzon and ten years in Mindanao. Laverna always helped with the music program, organ playing (with her portable army surplus organ), and children’s Sunday School programs. During the Philippine years Laverna homeschooled her children and several other local American children. In 1961 they returned to the U.S.A. serving Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City, Kansas, then founding Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas, in 1963, and finally founding Faith Lutheran Church, Bentonville, in 1976.

Upon their retirement in 1986, they continued to live in Bentonville, but spent many months each year helping in the ministry at St. John Lutheran Church, Lawton, Oklahoma, where she also often played the organ for their church services. She is currently a member at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Rogers, Arkansas. Her hobby and love always was Lutheran liturgical music and hymnody; giving many seminars and talks on the subject over the years, as well as having trained many Lutheran church organists. For thirty-five years she has enjoyed playing her pipe organ in her underground home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Alfred Tonn, and her husband of 63 years Rev. Herman Mayer in 2008.

Survivors include her children, Rev. Richard and Alice Mayer, Bentonville; and children, Mark and Christine; Richard and Janet Einert, Topeka, Kansas, and son Daniel; James and Betty Mayer; Bentonville, and children, Timothy, David, Susan, Sarah, and Margaret; Kenneth and Patty Mayer, Omaha, Nebraska, and children, Jonathan, Johanna, Joshua, Elisa, and Ruth; Don and Mary Mayer, Bentonville, and children, Paul, Drew, and Kati; and Mike and Dorothy Button, Bentonville, and children, Shelby and Jake; 23 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Debra Lynn Belcher, 60, passed away October 24, 2020, at Hospice House of Hutchinson, Hutchinson, Kansas.

She was born September 8, 1960, in Norton to Robert and Mary Jo Sparkman Horesky.

Moving from Norton in 1990, she was a longtime area resident and 
worked at Larned State Hospital as a mental health developmental 
disability technician.

On March 10, 1993, she married Michael Belcher at Las Vegas, Nevada; he survives.

Other survivors include: mother, Mary Jo Horesky, Norton; three 
brothers, Robert Horesky Jr. and Jim Horesky, both of Norton, John 
(Tammy) Horesky, Russell; four nephews and one niece.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 
Larned Cemetery, Larned with Bob Sallee presiding. Visitation will be 
9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.

Jerry ‘Eli’ Sanders, 50, of Hutchinson, died October 20, 2020, at his home. He was born October 14, 1970, in Kingman, to Jerry and Marie (Jones) Sanders.

Eli graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1988. He was a salesman for Treasure Chest Gun Shop. Eli loved guns and he loved talking to people, which was perfect for his job. He was also a big fan of the Marvel comics and movies. More than anything, Eli loved to spend time with family and his dog, Tessa.

On December 28, 2011, he married Johnna Rene Jimerson in Las Vegas. They shared 28 years together.

Eli is survived by wife, Johnna Jimerson, daughters, Brittany (James) Sanders, Keely DuBose, granddaughter, Xia Rockefeller, all of Hutchinson; brother, Scott Sanders, Lyons, Georgia; stepfather, Jay McCord, Utah; and parents-in-law, Connie and Richard Potter, Pretty Prairie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and best friend, Kenny Polton.

Paul E. Mathias, 88, died October 21, 2020, at his home. He was born December 31, 1931, in Nickerson, to Harvey Merle and Lola Gertrude (Toms) Mathias.

Paul served in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1952-1960. He retired from Morton Salt, after 26 years of service. Paul enjoyed ‘Young at Hearts’ at the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Center, and was grateful to take part in one of the Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. In addition, Paul enjoyed spending time with family, whether it was camping, flipping houses, or helping Ellen with housework. He was a member of First Church of God, Hutchinson.

On December 7, 1952, he married Ellen Fager in Pratt. They shared almost 68 years of marriage.

Paul is survived by wife, Ellen of Hutchinson; children, Rick Mathias (Janet) of Syracuse, Randy Mathias (Annette) of Partridge, Rhonda Knapp (Johnnie) of Buhler, and Rex Mathias (Michelle) of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carol Mathias, Jan Mathias, and Elna Fager; brother-in-law, Ted Fager (Karen); and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leon, Glenn, and Willard Mathias; and sister, Dorothy Gregg.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2020, at First Church of God, 704 N. Jefferson, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Michael D. Ray, 71, passed away on October 20, 2020, at his home in Hutchinson, KS. He was born October 4, 1949, in Hutchinson, the son of Bascom “Bud” and Peggy Jean (Johnson) Collins.

Mike graduated from Hutchinson High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Hutchinson. He later opened his own mechanic shop called MD Ray’s Auto Hospital and later retired in 1995. After retiring he immediately un-retired and opened The Shop, a gaming shop for kids of all ages and successfully ran it until his second retirement in 2008. Mike was married to Pamela Wait for over 30 years. Mike read his bible every day and was a great follower and believer in Jesus Christ and God. He was known for his honesty and truthfulness. He will be greatly missed.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Luis Perez.

Survivors include his wife, Pam; step-daughter, Amanda (Mark) James; step-son, Samuel Palmatier, both of Hutchinson; sisters, Cris Serviss of Wichita, Bonnie (Cecil) Chambers and Terry Perez, both of Hutchinson; brothers, Bill (Edda) Collins of Abbyville, Timothy (Tina) Collins of Oklahoma and James Collins of Hutchinson; grandson, Korben Craigg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was born in Emporia, Kansas on January 20, 1930, a son of Ida Bernice (Bobst) and Wilbur James Smith, Sr. Wayne attended Emporia grade school, Kansas City schools, and graduated from Washington High School, Kansas City, Kansas. He then attended Emporia State Teachers College, Emporia, Kansas where he got his teaching degree. Later he went back to school at Kansas University to get his masters degree . He was a member of First United Methodist Church McPherson, KS. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Wayne Edward Smith was united in marriage to Ann Kingsley White on July 20, 1963 at the Prairie Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Lawrence, Kansas. In 1965 the couple moved to the White family farm. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Jeffrey and Michael. Wayne was a math teacher and farmer. He taught math at Lawrence, Shawnee Mission, Sterling, and his last 26 years at Buhler High School, Buhler, Kansas. Wayne was a member of NEA and KNEA. Wayne enjoyed his family, teaching, farming, arguing with family (a Smith tradition), and spending time with his grandkids and great-granddaughter. John B. Grimes, 71, of Hutchinson, died October 20, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. He was born February 19, 1949, in Youngstown, OH, to John Bryarly and Dora Marie Grimes.&nbsp;

John graduated from Sebring High School, Sebring, OH, and the University of Michigan. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. John taught high school for several years, and then went to work as a driver for the United Parcel Service, retiring after 25 years of service.

He married Michelle David on June 19, 2013, in Las Vegas, NV.

John is survived by his wife, Michelle Grimes of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Tony David of Shawnee, Stephanie (Ryan) Suppes of Hutchinson, Sean David (girlfriend, Becky Schraeder) of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Maddy, Kenzie, Lincoln, Cole, and Carinn; and sister, Jet Ann (Gary) Porter of Sebring, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Charlotte.

John Floyd Compton, 71, of Hutchinson, died October 21, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 15, 1949, in Russell, to Delbert J. and Geneva E. (Schwab) Compton.

John graduated from high school in Ajo, AZ, in 1967 and from State University of New York in 1972. He was an officer at Hutchinson Correctional Facility for over 30 years, retiring in 2010.

John loved football, especially the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Washington Football Team. He also enjoyed playing bridge in the Duplicate Bridge Club, Hutchinson. But most of all, John loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

On July 30, 1980, he married Patricia D. ‘Patty’ Kim in Hutchinson. They celebrated 40 years of marriage. She survives.

(Schwab) Compton.John graduated from high school in Ajo, AZ, in 1967 and from State University of New York in 1972. He was an officer at Hutchinson Correctional Facility for over 30 years, retiring in 2010.John loved football, especially the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Washington Football Team. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church on Marienthal, Kansas.&nbsp; He worked as a mechanic and equipment operator. On December 29, 1954, he married Genevieve (Jean) M. Kreutzer.&nbsp; She passed away on July 9, 2013. Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Karraker, 65, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away at 7:25 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Hospice House.

Lawrence was born in McPherson, Kansas on November 10, 1954, a son of Eulalia Loy (Emerson) and Clifford Earl Karraker.

Larry attended the Wickersham grade school, Park School, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1973. He then attended a computer trade school in Wichita, Kansas.

He grew up in the Baptist faith and was currently a member of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia

Larry worked for Cultura Technologies as a Customer Service Representative.

Larry was a founding member of the McPherson Theatre Guild, was a mentor for outreach at Stand Up For Kids in Atlanta, Georgia. Larry enjoyed riding motor cycles, going to car shows, working on cars, and spending time with his family and friends. He spent many hours building model cars, playing guitar, and entertaining people with his impressions and stories.

Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Karraker was united in marriage to Juliet Dinwiddie Mack on November 13, 1999, at Hutchinson, Kansas. The couple established their first home together in Hutchinson, Kansas. This union was blessed with seven children, Melissa, Michael, Tim, Kristina, Bonnie, Megan and Justin.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over twenty years, Juliet Karraker, of Hutchinson, Kansas;

his children, Melissa Karraker, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Michael Karraker, of Wichita, Kansas, Timothy Karraker, of Perry, Oklahoma, Kristina Karraker, of Athens, Tennessee, Bonnie Gilzinger and husband Michael Gilzinger, of Inman, Kansas, Megan Niemeyer and husband Nicholas, of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Justin Harrison, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; his siblings, Yvonne' Stanton and husband Warren, Anthony, Kansas, Wallace Karraker and wife Mary, of New Berlin, Wisconsin, and Kevin Karraker and significant other Kim Nelson, of Galva, Kansas; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandson with one on the way!, other relatives and a host of friends.

Jo graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1959, Hutchinson Community College in 1961, and attended Kansas State University. Her first job was in data entry for DCI. In addition to being a homemaker, Jo also did daycare in her own home. She worked as a legal secretary for Kansas Farmers Service Association for many years until her retirement.

Jo was known for her singing voice since high school and sang many church solos and for many weddings and funerals. She was active in the Trinity United Methodist Church Choir and Reno Choral Society. Jo was a member of First Christian Church, PEO Chapter CM, and served in the Volunteer Center of Reno County.

In August, 1970, she married Loren Shulda. They later divorced. On May 1, 1999, Jo married Everett L. ‘Ev’ Harman in Hutchinson. He died June 1, 2009.

She is survived by: daughters, Emily Buscher (Brad) and Laura Schmidt (Robert), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Luke and Abigail Buscher and Rayelle and Jett Schmidt; sisters, Shirley Brandyberry and Margaret Peter, both of Hutchinson; brother, Frank Mock (Rebecca), Mariposa, CA; former husband, Loren Shulda, Olathe; and many extended family members.

She was born Thursday, May 4, 1967, in Norton to Gerald Henry and Marcella Theresa (Boor) Hickert.

Diane grew up on the family farm near 
Jennings. She attended the Jennings and Norton schools, graduating from 
Norton High School. On the farm she loved her kitties. While in high 
school she earned several trophies for bowling and playing basketball. 
In 1992 the family moved to Hays. Diane had been employed by DSNWK over 
the years. She enjoyed watching sports on tv, her craft projects, eating
 out with her family, going shopping with her Mom, and doing word search
 puzzles.

Survivors include her mother, Marcella 
Hickert, Hays; sister, Debra Dix, Stockton; brother, Darrell Hickert, 
Oberlin; three nieces; one nephew; her aunts and uncles: Leona Boor, 
Hays, Susan Boor, Hutchinson, Luella Linnebur, Bel Aire, Majella and 
Fred Hickert, Hays, Leon and Mary Jo Boor, Abilene, Jeannie and Jerry 
Patterson, Wakefield, and Charlene Goscha, Oakley; and numerous cousins.

Chester L. Unruh, 87, died Monday, October 19, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, Kansas. He was born October 23, 1932 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Abraham and Sarah (Holdeman) Unruh.

He was united in marriage to LaVerna Schmidt on March 16, 1962 in Hillsboro.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

He was a member of the Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Hesston, Kansas.

Chester was a farmer and custom cutter.&nbsp; He was employed at Hay and Forage Industries of Hesston for 27 years as a fabricator.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerna of Moundridge; daughters, Cheryl (Embert) Koehn of New Plymouth, Idaho, Karen Unruh of Moundridge, and Kathy (Leonard) Martin of Sumner, Texas; son, Arlin (Jeanette) Unruh of Hesston; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Erma Unruh of Sharon Springs and Dorothy Unruh of Montezuma.

Ryan Anthony McCarty, age 40, of Hutchinson, beloved husband to Michelle (Cooper) McCarty, passed away suddenly on October 16, 2020 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born in Wichita on March 28, 1980, Ryan was the son of the late Daniel and Robin (Johnson) McCarty.

Ryan graduated from Mulvane High School in 1998. He was an Operations Manager at Portfolio Recovery Association for ten years, followed by three years at National Credit Adjusters. Ryan, like his late father, was a huge fan of the Shockers, Raiders, and St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid cornhole player.

On March 20, 2008, he married the love of his life, Michelle Nicole Cooper, in Salida, Colorado. They shared 17 years of life, three children, and two grandchildren – the lights of his life, Novalee Dae and Alistair (Ali) Knight.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Michelle, daughter, Sandra (Steven) Roby; son, Tyler (Pam) Smith, and son Skyler Smith; grandchildren, Alistair and Novalee; brother, Devin (Sarah) McCarty, brother Jackson (Ellie) McCarty; sister, Robin (Robert) Clark,; mother- and father-in-law, Rosemary and Keith ‘Bill’ Cooper; and nephews, Gavin McCarty, Graham McCarty, Marshall Maverick McCarty, Konnor Cooper, Grady Clark, Emmett Clark, Aryss Cooper, and Aiden Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Robin McCarty; father, Daniel and his wife, Janet McCarty; grandparents, Leon and Darlene McCarty, and Milford and Margaret Johnson.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with Tim Stark presiding. Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary. Masks will be required.

 </figure>Ryan Anthony McCarty, age 40, of Hutchinson, beloved husband to Michelle (Cooper) McCarty, passed away suddenly on October 16, 2020 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born in Wichita on March 28, 1980, Ryan was the son of the late Daniel and Robin (Johnson) McCarty.Ryan graduated from Mulvane High School in 1998. He was an Operations Manager at Portfolio Recovery Association for ten years, followed by three years at National Credit Adjusters. Ryan, like his late father, was a huge fan of the Shockers, Raiders, and St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid cornhole player.On March 20, 2008, he married the love of his life, Michelle Nicole Cooper, in Salida, Colorado. They shared 17 years of life, three children, and two grandchildren – the lights of his life, Novalee Dae and Alistair (Ali) Knight.Ryan is survived by his wife, Michelle, daughter, Sandra (Steven) Roby; son, Tyler (Pam) Smith, and son Skyler Smith; grandchildren, Alistair and Novalee; brother, Devin (Sarah) McCarty, brother Jackson (Ellie) McCarty; sister, Robin (Robert) Clark,; mother- and father-in-law, Rosemary and Keith ‘Bill’ Cooper; and nephews, Gavin McCarty, Graham McCarty, Marshall Maverick McCarty, Konnor Cooper, Grady Clark, Emmett Clark, Aryss Cooper, and Aiden Cooper.He was preceded in death by his mother, Robin McCarty; father, Daniel and his wife, Janet McCarty; grandparents, Leon and Darlene McCarty, and Milford and Margaret Johnson.Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with Tim Stark presiding. Mark Alan Collins, 61, died October 19, 2020 at his home in Inman, Kansas surrounded by his family. He was born June 14, 1959 in Muskogee, OK, the son of Archie Wayne and Mickey Barnes Collins.

He was a graduate of Warner High School and Southwest Oklahoma State University, with his Bachelor of Science degree. A current resident of Inman, he had worked in retail at Walmart for the last 35 years. He was an avid OU fan, hunter, fly fisherman, and enjoyed his grandchildren and was a family man.

On September 11, 2004, he married Nancy Brungardt in Inman. She survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Megan (Joshua) Williams, Inman and Katelyn (Zachary) McMullen, Comanche, OK; a brother, Jeffrey Collins, Warner, OK; a sister, Janet (Erec) Miller, Muskogee, OK; and three grandchildren, Joshua, Jr., Hailey, and Mark. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary H. Graham, 88, died on October 19, 2020 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, KS. She was born July 6, 1932 in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Cresencio and Bernabe Palacio Hernandez. 

Mary graduated from Hutchinson High School, graduating in 1951. She attended Sterling College and Hutchinson Community College. On May 28, 1972 she married Doroteo (Don) E. Graham in Hutchinson. Mary worked for the State of Kansas as a Social Worker and retired after 38 years. She enjoyed reading and volunteer work. She volunteered at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and was a member of the Red Hat Society, Civic Center Club of Women, Our Lady of Guadalupe Women’s Society, and Hutchinson Business and Women’s Professionals. She attended and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Matt P. Hernandez and a sister, Bonificia Hernandez.

Mary is survived by her husband, Don; step-daughter, Gail Richard of Little Rock, AR; step-son, Bruce Graham of Wichita, KS; niece, Bonnie M. Hernandez of Hutchinson, KS; nephew, Mark A. Larry L Schmid, 82, died on October 19, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born July 28, 1938, in Herigton, KS, the son of Henry and Dora (Weber) Schmid.

On December 18, 1981 he married Janet S. Moshier in Hutchinson. She precedes him in death. Larry worked as a switchman for Southern Pacific retiring in 2006 after 49 years. Larry and his brother started a squirrel corn business and sold squirrel corn to many farm supply stores. He also enjoyed woodworking. Larry was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; a twin sister, Betty Crane; a brother, DeVerne Schmid; and a daughter, Michele Fry. 

Survivors include his daughters, Denise Wilson (Roger Levasseur), Tracy Tanley (George Keene) and Cindy Tanley; nine grandchildren, Breann Fry, Ryan Spitler, Emmanuel Torres, Dylan Wilson, Jayce Fry, Kylee (Rob) Mies, Jeran Fry, Erin (Miles) Beach and Duncan Lee; one great granddaughter, Anastaria Haynes.

Stella Josephine Marquez, 70, formerly of Hutchinson, died October 14, 2020, at her home. She was born January 16, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Juan Lopez and Louisa (Gomez) Marquez.

Stella graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Wichita State University. She worked for over 20 years as a cosmetologist at various salons in the area. Stella enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and volunteering for community service organizations, such as being an interpreter for First Call for Help. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, South Hutchinson.

She is survived by her children, Lorenzo (Petrina) Davis, Sr. of Wichita, Marcos (Vaniesa) Davis of Houston, TX, Jose (Traci) Favela of Fort Worth, TX, and Tony (Stacy) Favela of Hutchinson; ten grandchildren; brother, Pete (Ramona) Marquez of Hutchinson; and Juan Antonio Favela of Hutchinson, the father of Lorenzo, Marcos, Jose, and Tony.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Adolph Chavez, Kathryn Garcia, Tony Marquez, and Bobby Marquez.

Georgianna Marie ‘Georgia’ Weber, 74, of Hutchinson, died October 14, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 23, 1945, in Norton, to Frank W. and Ruth J. (Bielser) Currier.

Georgia graduated from Hoxie High School in 1963 and from Northwest Kansas Technical College, as well as attended Fort Hays State University. She served on the kitchen staff in the Colby and St. Marys public schools. Georgia enjoyed camping and loved watching birds. She was a member of Hoxie Presbyterian Church.

On July 29, 1967, Georgia married Max E. Weber in Hoxie. They shared 53 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Ronda Hedrick (Aryn) of Nickerson, and Jenifer Lasky (Michael) of Wichita; grandchildren, Cayle, Lian, and Rayne Hedrick; sister, Wanita Smith (Tom) of Crestwell, OR; nephew, Scott Smith (Chris Brooks); great-nephew, Tanner Smith; great-nieces, Stephanie Mendoza (Luis), and Kimmie, Sol, Lily and Every Mendoza.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents.

Robert "Bob" Bernard Bush, 58, of Hutchinson, died Oct. 12, 2020, at Hospice House of Reno County. Bob was born in 1962, at Camp Pendleton, Calif. to a career Marine Corps family. He was the youngest of six children of Maj. Clayton O. Bush and Mary Bush.

In 1996, Bob married Ann Stephens in Denver. In 1997, they moved to Hutchinson, to join the Stephens family business, City Beverage. In 2000, Bob and Ann welcomed their son Jack Clayton to the family. In 2004, Ann and Bob purchased the business from John and Peg Stephens. Bob continued to participate in the business until his admission into Hospice on Oct. 8.

Bob was a civic-minded citizen and community booster, serving two terms on the Hutchinson City Council and one term as Reno County Commissioner. Bob Served as the mayor of Hutchinson in 2009 and 2013, Bob was most proud of the recruitment of the Siemen's wind manufacturing plant to Hutchinson during his tenure as mayor. He continued attending county commission meetings right up until the end, even participating by phone from various medical appointments.

Bob had a big heart, a big drive and dove into everything he did with enthusiasm and a smile. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma five-and-a-half years ago, but didn’t let his disease define him. He continued to work and to play as hard as he could. He was an avid golfer, who often organized outings and trips with his buddies, encouraging even the most reluctant to take time out from their schedules to spend time with friends on the course. Those who couldn’t were pushed to join them at the 19th hole.

He also took up CrossFit in recent years, reveling in the intense workouts and close camaraderie of those who partake.

His disease emphasized the importance of blood donations, and he helped organize a blood drive on Sept. 28 at City Beverage. In recent weeks, he arranged for local artist Mike Livingston to provide paintings for the oncology waiting area at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

He had a way of encouraging them to challenge their own assumptions, and usually come to better conclusions or decisions.Bob graduated from Air Academy High School, USAFA, Colo., in 1980. He graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., with a bachelor’s degree in social work. While at CSU, Bob was an active member of the Sigma Epsilon Fraternity and ardent supporter of Ram Football. His love of the Rams continued on, many a time waking Ann when yelling at the team on the television late at night.He earned a master’s in Business Management from Regis University in Denver in 1994.Following graduation from Colorado State, Bob worked at Samaritan House Homeless Shelter in downtown Denver, an experience that helped color his life. Bob went on to work for the Jefferson County DA's office, administering its victim's compensation program, then spent years working for the state of Colorado, administering the statewide Victim's Compensation Fund for victims of violent crime.Bob was a supporter of the arts in the community, donating bronze sculpture to the library, the city office, parks and zoo. In addition, he sponsored a wall scape in downtown Hutchinson.Bob was a member of AMBUCs, served on the board of the Cosmosphere, and aided many non-profits in their fundraising activities. Bob served on the executive committee for the Kansas Beer Wholesalers Association and on the National Beer Wholesaler's Association.Bob enjoyed travel, exploring most of the United States and Europe with friends and family on business and pleasure trips.Bob is survived by his wife, Ann, son, Jack, of Lawrence, brother, Mark (Cindy), Parker, Colo.; sisters Barbara Bush, Newport, Ore., Betty Bush (Tom) of Aurora, Colo., and Mary McCutchen of Denver; niece Brae Phillips (Chip) of Berthoud, Colo.; nephews Kyle (Tina) McCutchen of Ecuador, and Brandon Bush (Roxy) of The Woodlands,, Texas; great nieces Sydney McCutchen, Madalyn and Bonnee Phillips, and great nephew Clay Bush.Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Mary Bush, brother, Clay Bush, and brother-in-law Bill Bullard.With his multiple myeloma, Bob required frequent blood transfusions, so in lieu of flowers, he asked that friends donate blood to their local Red Cross.Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a private memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. A public ‘Come and Go Celebration of Life’ gathering will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Main Street Event Center, 2 N. Main, Hutchinson. Social distancing and masks will be required at the Main Street Event Center. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.Memorials may be sent to First Congregational Church, The Hutchinson Art Center, or Hospice House of Reno County in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
