Lyle Franklin Kahmeyer, 83, of Pretty Prairie, died April 2, 2021, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born June 18, 1937, in Nashville, to Leonard F. and Velma E. (Knuth) Kahmeyer. 

Lyle graduated from Nashville High School in 1955. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1958. Lyle worked at Hutchinson Correctional Facility for a short time and then as a machinist at Cessna and Sunstrand for nearly 30 years. He was a member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, Loyal Order of Moose #982, and Hutchinson Friends Church.

On Oct. 13, 2004, Lyle married Shirley Pendergrass, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Kevin Kahmeyer (Jeri-Lynn) of Tampa Bay, FL, Tracy Shahan (Gerald) of Ada, OK, Scott Kahmeyer of Sapulpa, OK, Penny Allen of Wichita; stepchildren, John Barrett (Shawnda) of Hutchinson, Sharon Christner (Randy) of Hutchinson, Joe Pendergrass (Jo) of Cassoday, Leroy Pendergrass (Sherri) of Hutchinson; 29 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Vicki Goetz of Wichita; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Craig Kahmeyer; and a brother, Lannis Kahmeyer.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Hutchinson Friends Church, 1200 E. 14th Ave., Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. The service will be webcast on the church's Facebook page.

Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
