Robert (Bob) J. Scheideman, age 84, of Ellinwood, Kansas passed away on September 22, 2023 at Medicalodges in Great Bend, Kansas.

Bob was born June 30, 1939 to Elmer and Ameila Scheideman in La Crosse, Kansas. Elmer and Ameila had four children together. Bob was the third oldest of his four siblings.

Bob lived in La Crosse for all his childhood. After high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Airforce. After serving in the Airforce, Bob returned home to La Crosse. Upon returning home, Bob started working for his father as a truck driver.

Bob welcomed three daughters during his first marriage to Charlotte Burton. They welcomed their first daughter, Julie Scheideman on November 15, 1964. Robin Scheideman was born a few years later on June 17, 1969. Their youngest daughter, Patsy Kline was born on December 8,1973.

After Bob’s marriage to Charlotte, he moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas for work and this is where he eventually met the love of his life, Mary Rozean Scheideman.

On August 30, 1979, Bob and Mary were married in Norton, Kansas. When Bob married Mary, she had two children, which Bob helped raise. Milissa Rhoades was born on June 16, 1968. Brian Scheideman is the youngest son of Mary and he was born August 19, 1975. Bob was an astounding father to all five children.

After Bob and Mary were married, they moved to Ellinwood, Kansas in 1980 for career opportunities.Bob enjoyed being a truck driver because he could explore the countryside. He drove truck for fifty-five years. Eventually, Bob started working for Clear Creek in 1980 and continued his career with Clear Creek until he eventually retired in 1993.

After retirement, Bob enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for his family. He would often travel to the Rozean Family Farm in Norton, Kansas with Mary. Bob enjoyed working alongside his brother-in-law, John Rozean and his wife Mary.

Bob loved to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. They always knew he was in the crowd because he was the loudest one cheering. Bob also loved fishing with his son Brian and his son-in law, Mike. He enjoyed attending auctions and collecting trinkets.In his free time, Bob was entertained by word searches and sitting outside under his favorite tree with Mary. Most mornings you could find Bob at the local Zip Stop in Ellinwood enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Bob was loving, supportive, generous, and caring to all.

Connie Sue Locke, 75, of Topeka, Kansas and born March 5, 1948, at Hutchinson, Kansas, died Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. &nbsp;Connie was the daughter of Lorie and Maxine Locke and grew up at Arlington, Kansas.

Connie graduated from the eighth grade at Arlington Grade School, attended Arlington High School her freshman year and graduated from Fairfield High School, Langdon, Kansas in the class of 1966.

After graduating from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting, Connie started her career in October 1970 as fiscal officer at the Marshall County Welfare Department in Marysville, Kansas. &nbsp;In August 1972, she accepted an accountant position with the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in Topeka. &nbsp;She worked in the SRS Finance Division for 19 years.

In May, 1989, Connie received a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Information Systems from Washburn University, Topeka. &nbsp;In 1991, she began work with a team developing the KsCares computer system for SRS work programs. &nbsp;After the KsCares project was completed in 1994, she accepted a position as applications programmer/analyst with SRS-Information Technology Systems. &nbsp;Connie worked 20 years for ITS mostly developing systems for SRS Division of Children and Family Services later named the Kansas Department of Children and Families. &nbsp;She retired on April 1, 2014.

In 2011, Connie was recognized at a statehouse ceremony by Governor Sam Brownback for 40 years of service to the State of Kansas and was one of three graduates from the same high school, Fairfield High School, whose service totaled 120 years – including Connie’s sister Loreen and Kenneth Davidson, Hutchinson.

Connie loved sports and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. &nbsp;In 2008, she fulfilled a dream to see Yankee Stadium, the “house that Ruth built”, in New York City, with her brother Mark and nephew Loren.

Connie was an avid KU Jayhawks fan, especially KU basketball, holding season tickets for several decades. &nbsp;Being an accountant she could accurately quote many KU statistics.

Connie is survived by her brother Mark and Darlene Locke, and their family, son Timothy Locke, son Robert Locke and Nikki Stewart, their children Xander, Lesli and Natali Locke, all of Manhattan, &nbsp;Mark and Darlene’s daughter Charlene Rutherford, Gardner, Kansas and her children, sons Ryan Forrest and Brandon Rutherford, both living in Texas and daughters Rachel and Alyssa Rutherford, Gardner, Mark and Darlene’s son Wayne and Heather Pendarvis, their daughters Faith and Skye, all of Hutchinson and their son Wesley Pendarvis, Texas. &nbsp;Connie is also survived by her sister Loreen Locke McMillan and her son Loren and Susan McMillan and their five-month-old son Huxley, all of Topeka.

A celebration of life service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. &nbsp;A beside-the-grave service will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Kansas, with Pastor Keith Dellenbach of Abbyville officiating.

Ranald Gene Miller, 78, of South Hutchinson, KS, died September 20, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. He was born March 4, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Edgar and Etta Marie(Yates) Miller.

Ranald attended schools in Partridge and Hutchinson. Enlisting in the United States Army in 1962 serving until 1973, earning medals in the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. Following his military career Ranald graduated from Hutchinson Community College. He then worked for the United States Post Office retiring in 2003. Ranald enjoyed all things hot rods, K-State sports, walking and anything his children and grandchildren were involved in . He was also a member of Eastwood Church of Christ. More than anything he loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren, always laughing and joking.

On March 11, 1966, Ranald married Ursula Wahl in Sandhofen, West Germany. They shared 57 years of marriage together.

He is survived by: wife, Ursula Miller, South Hutchinson; daughter, Claudia Holland, Pennsylvania, son, Ranald Miller, Jr., Iowa; daughters, Patches Meadows (Lyndon), South Hutchinson, Diana Krull (Jonathan),Missouri; twelve grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Jamie Prichard; brothers, Edgar Miller, Melvin Lacoe, and Brad Miller, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ranald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Pearce.

Robert D. ‘Bob’ Garvey, Jr., 64, of Delhi, CA, died September 22, 2023, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab, Hutchinson. He was born September 9, 1959, Mount Pilot, NC, to Robert Clark Sr and Elenore (Palmer) Garvey.

Bob studied gas turbine technology at California State University, Sacramento. Following college, he enjoyed working as a small engine repairman. Bob was a United States Army veteran. He was a loving and caring brother, grandfather, and friend to many. Bob enjoyed helping people, especially if they were going through a hard time.

In 1990, he married Sybil Caswell Butler, they shared 31 years of marriage before her passing on January 26, 2021.

Bob is survived by his: step-daughter, Marie (Tim) Herring, Atwater, CA, and three other step-children; granddaughter, Kristin Butler, Merced, CA; great-grandsons, Daniel and Jonathan Butler, Merced; sisters, Kelly Buchanan, Clovis, CA, and Vickie Clement, Citrus Heights, CA; one niece and nephew; and numerous friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Cremation has taken place; memorial service will be at a later date in California.

She was born April 17, 1955 in Vallejo, California to Andrew and Irene (Lucas) Finn.Jackie attended and graduated from Vallejo High School, and later earned her master’s degree at San José State University in San Jose, CA. &nbsp;She worked as a high school math teacher for over 20 years before she retired in 2020. &nbsp;On November 19, 2007, she married Caston Fowler in Vallejo, CA. &nbsp;He survives of the home.

Survivor’s also include her daughter, Ebony Hoffman and husband Russell; sisters, Cassandra Anderson and Kimberly Craig; brother, Jerry Finn; three grandchildren, Floyd Jones IV, Joloan Jones, and Jalee Jones; and many more family members and friends.&nbsp;

Phyllis D. Dodge, 71, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita, KS. &nbsp;She was born December 23, 1951, in Hutchinson, KS to Verle R. and Beulah L. (Green) Hall.

Phyllis graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969 and worked for Kroger as a cashier and later as an accounting clerk for over 20 years. On August 12, 1972, Phyllis married Larry E. Dodge in Hutchinson. &nbsp;She graduated from Sidney's Hairdressing College and attended Baptist Bible College in Missouri. &nbsp;Phyllis enjoyed reading, gardening and genealogy.

Phyllis is preceded by her parents; husband, Larry; and sisters, Elaine Atkinson and Lynette Smith.

She is survived by her son, Matthew (Jaime) Dodge and daughter, Chelle Dodge; two sisters, Sheryl Lord and Joyce Gibbs; five grandchildren, Colten Dodge, Devon Dodge, Caitlin (Trey) Bishop, Jordan (Marisa) Dodge and Caileigh Dodge; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. &nbsp;Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. &nbsp;Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;Memorials may be given to the Westside Baptist Church and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.

Felecia (Tator) was born on December 16, 1991 in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from Peabody Burns High School in Peabody, Kansas. After meeting her husband, Jason Richey Jr., she resided in Haysville, Kansas. Felecia was a mother, daughter, wife, sister, and so much more. She was a dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan, enjoyed photography, being at the race track with her family and friends, going to concerts, and listening to a good thunderstorm. Most importantly, Felecia enjoyed being a mother and doing anything it took to keep her children happy. Felecia is survived by her dog Ellie, husband Jason Richey Jr., son Grayson Richey, mother Karla Armstrong, father Kipton Pohlman and wife Lana Pohlman, sister Cheyenne Young, sister Brandy Pierce, other siblings, grandparents, many family and friends.&nbsp;

James A. Casey 65, died Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at his Newton residence. He was born February 2, 1958 in Newton, Kansas to James and Sonjia (Tharp) Casey. &nbsp;On October 22, 1983 he married Cindy Sue Weerts at Newton and she survives of the home.

James was a longtime local HVAC technician working for several local firms including Denny's Heating and Cooling. He enjoyed spending time camping, fishing and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed family time at Eastlake and Marion. He was a avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. James enjoyed fixing things around the house and helping others. &nbsp;His greatest joy was being a loving husband, father and grandfather and being their for his family however he could in times of need.

He is survived by his wife Cindy of the home, Mother Sonja Goering, &nbsp;step-father Jim Goering, son Aaron (Tiffany) Casey daughters Jaime Casey and her husband Chris Perales, Kristy Hermstein and her husband Jeremy Crites, two brothers Pat Casey and Dennis Casey and three sister Maureen Ray, Sue Casey and Darlene Chastain. He is also survived by 7 Grandchildren.

On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Shirley Y. (Wedel) Warner, loving wife and mother to three children, passed away at age 79.

Shirley was born on May 15, 1944 in Moundridge, Kansas to Elmer and Lucinda (Schultz) Wedel. Shirley was married to Verle Warner for 52 years until his passing in 2013. She had a career in Banking and working for the State of Kansas until she retired in 2006.

Throughout Shirley’s life, she was an amazing baker, known for her delicious pies, and made amazing food, had a beautiful talent for embroidering keepsake tea towels and baby blankets for her children and grandchildren. Shirley’s grandchildren were her greatest joys. She really found a joy watching sports, especially Royal’s Baseball, KU and WSU Basketball, she could talk sports with her family and enjoyed every minute of it. Shirley was a member and very active in her Church, The Walton United Methodist Church. She would look forward and have weekly lunch dates with girlfriends from work and church to catch up with them and pray with them.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Verle Warner; parents, Elmer and Lucinda Wedel; and one grandchild, Emma Lee Warner. She is survived by her children, Sandy (Daniel) O’Rear, Colorado Springs, CO, Colleen (Tom) Chopp, New Cambria, KS and Gary (Carla) Warner, Halstead, KS; her grandchildren, AJ (Kacy) Warner, Sara (Noelle) San Souci, Ryan (Trevor) Cole, Rebekah McLaughlin, Jordan O’Rear, Mattie (Austin) Cross and Elsie Warner. Bruce Austin Green, 74, died on September 19, 2023, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born April 18, 1949, in Hugo, Oklahoma, to Fred and Geneva (Carpenter) Green.

Bruce was a graduate of Nickerson High School in 1967. He was a truck driver and a union member of Teamsters Local #41. Bruce drove for Dillons and Yellow Freight for many years. In retirement he worked for the State testing for CDL Licenses. He was also a member of the American Truck Historical Society and Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association.

On September 1, 2007, Bruce married Madaline Rose Burns in Hutchinson. They shared 16 years together.

He is survived by: wife, Madaline Green, Hutchinson; sons, Timothy Green, Wichita, Christian Green, Gurnee, Illinois, Troy Parks, Goddard; daughter, Carol Graham, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Bruce was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother Michael Green and sister Geneva Annell Reece. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Charles “Chuck” Franklin Easdon, 89, died September 17, 2023, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita. He was born December 20, 1933, in Perryton, Texas, to Frank and Sarah (Thomas) Easdon.

On September 16, 1953, Chuck entered the United States Air Force. He served until September 15, 1957, including time in Korea during the Korean Conflict.

Chuck was a union member sheet metal worker. He loved anything to do with cars including working on them and attending car shows. In the 1960’s he and several friends enjoyed using CB Radios. Chuck loved spending time with his grandchildren.

On November 3, 1956, he married Dixie Lee McCarthy, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They shared 66 years of marriage before she passed away on August 29, 2023.

Chuck is survived by: children, Jerry (Judi) Easdon of Hollister, MO, Paula Sue (Terry) Endicott of Broken Arrow, OK, Jess (Kim) Easdon of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Steve (Vickie) Douglas of Broken Arrow, OK; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren plus scores of bonus children.

He was preceded in death by his: parents; wife; daughter, Pam Douglas; and granddaughter, Hannah Easdon.

A private graveside service will be held in Fairlawn Burial Park. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Patricia “Pat” L. Nippert, 71, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp; Pat was a lifelong Reading Specialist for multiple educational grade levels and retired from McPherson EMS.

Pat was born on September 26, 1951, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of Gail Edward and Marjorie Emma (Jenetzky) Stauffer.&nbsp; She graduated from Wichita North High School, McPherson College (BS), and Wichita State University (MS).&nbsp; On December 18, 1971, Pat was united in marriage to Ward A. Nippert in Wichita, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children, Jesse and Heather.

She was a member of the First Christian Church where she was the librarian and treasurer for the Ruth Heimer DWF.&nbsp; She was also a member of Kansas Reading Association, KSEMS Association, and Kansas Good Sam’s where she was the treasurer of the state organization.&nbsp; She volunteered at Save N Share, McPherson Museum, and McPherson Emergency Medical Service (prior to having a paid position).

Survivors include: her loving husband of 51 years, Ward Nippert of Manhattan, KS; son, Jesse (Anna) Nippert of Wamego, KS; daughter, Heather (Daniel) Dannahower of Fort Collins, CO; six grandchildren, Kalea Nippert, Miah Dannahower, Kyra Nippert, William Dannahower, Lucia Nippert, and Livia Nippert; and a brother, James Stauffer of Elkhorn, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Robert Lynn “Bob” Loutzenhiser, 78, died September 18, 2023, at his home. &nbsp;He was born April 6, 1945, in Lyons, to Robert Ansel and Virginia (Poland) Loutzenhiser.

Robert was known as Robert, Lynn, or Bob, depending on your relationship with him. &nbsp;He graduated from Little River High School in 1964. &nbsp;Robert was a talented high school baseball pitcher, who could pitch with either arm. &nbsp;Scouts came to watch this amazing athlete. &nbsp;However, this was during the time of the Vietnam War, and Robert was drafted into the United States Army. &nbsp;During his service, Robert was shot down in enemy lines, and safely hid until he could be found by American soldiers. &nbsp;For his heroism, he was awarded a purple heart. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Upon returning to Kansas, he worked as a machinist for LMC- Lyons Manufacturing Company. After retirement, Robert enjoyed attending the NJCAA basketball tournament in Hutchinson, and cheering on the Hutchinson Junior College basketball and baseball team.&nbsp;

On June 20, 1965, he married Carolyn June Heim, in Mitchell, KS. &nbsp;She died July 14, 2012, after they shared 47 years of marriage.

Robert is survived by: &nbsp;daughter, Lynette Casey (Rick); son, Bryan Loutzenhiser (Jennifer Jackson), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Makayla, Drew, and Katie; two great-granddaughters; and a sister-in-law, Mary Heim of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; brother, Larry Loutzenhiser; and brother-in-law, Fred Heim.

Graveside service will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, 821 N. Grand, Lyons. &nbsp;Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Verna Heibert Classen was born on July 28, 1932 in Meade, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the youngest child of Ben and Lizzie Heibert, her brothers were Ernest and Marvin.

Verna’s early childhood was spent on the farm where her father raised crops.&nbsp; She went to a small country school, where she learned English because she only knew low-German.&nbsp; Verna accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 10.

Eventually they moved to the McPherson area where Verna finished grade school and junior high.&nbsp; For high school, Verna attended Meade Bible Academy, and those years were remembered with fond memories.&nbsp; She graduated in 1951.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Verna met Wilmer Classen, her future husband, while attending Meade Bible Academy.&nbsp; Verna later moved back with her parents.&nbsp; They wrote letters and had occasional telephone calls.&nbsp;&nbsp; Verna remembers well, their first date, they went to Hutchinson Fair and they rode on the Old Mill ride.&nbsp; Little did Verna realize that she would be attending Hutchinson Fair for decades after that first date.

Wilmer and Verna were engaged at Christmas time in 1953 and were married the following March of 1954.&nbsp; They moved for the first years of their marriage while Wilmer finished his 1 W service.&nbsp; These were hard years for Verna because she had never been that far away from family and friends, but they made lasting friendships during those years.&nbsp;

After 1 W service, Verna and Wilmer moved to the Kansas City area for Wilmer to attend nursing and anesthesia school.&nbsp; Verna supported Wilmer through school by cleaning area businesses and working at Russell Stover’s on the factory line putting the specific swirls on the chocolate to identify the centers.

Wilmer graduated from nursing school and they moved to Newton, Kansas where they spent the rest of their years.&nbsp; Wilmer and Verna had five children, a set of twins, Carl and Carol, who went to heaven shortly after they were prematurely born, Sharon (Matt) Schroder of Littleton, Colorado, Diane (George) Wingert of Kansas City, Kansas and Michael (Karen) Classen of Lebo, Kansas.

Verna was a wonderful, caring and compassionate mother and grandmother.&nbsp; She was vey generous and giving in everything that she did.&nbsp; Verna was a talented baker, seamstress, and enjoyed needle work.&nbsp; Many of you were recipients of her talented work, either with her cookies or peppernut baking, her zwieback and vernika.&nbsp; Verna also did incredible embroidery work and enjoyed making tea towels and quilts.&nbsp;

Verna leaves behind her 5 grandchildren: &nbsp;Jackson Wingert, Claire Wingert Dudley, Sarah and Josh Schroeder, Grant Harrison and many cherished friends and extended family members.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Koerner Heights Church with Pastor Dave Froese presiding.&nbsp; Visitation will be at the church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday evening.&nbsp; Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas

Verna Heibert Classen |1932-2023|

Kathy Diane Whitcher, 72, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.

She was born on April 20, 1951, in Geneva, Nebraska to Robert and Mary Erb, the first of three siblings with Jim and Lori soon to follow. After spending her early life on the Nebraska farm between Shickley and Geneva, the Erbs made a pilgrimage to Hesston, Kansas when Kath was 14. She graduated from Hesston High School in 1969 and attended Hesston College.

At HC, she met an ornery guy from Texas, Sid Whitcher. The couple soon started dating even after Sid went back home to school at Texas A&amp;I (now Texas A&amp;M-Kingsville). They couldn’t be without each other and they were married at the Hesston Mennonite Church on November 27, 1971.

The couple enjoyed playing cards, softball and even bowling together before Rusty came along in February of 1977. Mindy followed in November of 1980 before Wendy surprised everyone in November of 1991. Before Wendy arrived, the family of four still played baseball and softball with Kathy deciding it was time to cut back when she, Sid, Rusty and Mindy had four different games in four different towns at the same time.

Kathy worked a plethora of different jobs from the counter at the Hitchin’ Post, to a clerking job at Central Livestock Company in South Hutchinson. Before hanging up her working spurs, she worked at Water’s Edge as a hostess along with managing special events. Under her eye, Water’s Edge had a successful dinner theater in a partnership with Hesston College, an endeavor which sadly went by the wayside.

Her passion was horses and she organized many trail rides, from scavenger hunts to fundraiser for the Hopi Mission School in Kykotsmovi Village, AZ. She loved her horses from Charlie to Chet and loved to see people getting joy from riding as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Erb and her husband Sid.

Kathy is survived by her son, Rusty of Hesston, her daugthers, Mindy and Wendy (Terry) Whitchway of Wichita, her brother Jim (Jan) Erb of Hesston, sister Lori (John) Thimm of Beatrice, Nebraska, nephew Jesse (Rebecca) Erb, nieces Steph (Joe) Rheem, Kari (Beau) Cox, Abby (Shaun) Stover, Becca (Brandon) Kelley, several great nieces and nephews and much to her chagrin, several grand-cats.

A memorial service will be held at a later date as her last wishes were to have her ashes scattered with horses. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopi Mission School in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, PO Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062.

Harold Lee Miller, 88, passed away at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, KS on Sept. 19th, 2023. Born on Jan. 19, 1935 in Skedee, OK he was the son of Clarence Lee &amp; Lorene Evelyn (Whittle) Miller. A longtime Ellinwood resident, Harold graduated from Hudson HS in 1954 and married Elma “Jean” Sessler on Oct. 16, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood. They shared 67 years of memories together before her passing in 2022. Harold and Jean enjoyed roller skating, ice fishing, raising four children, creating keepsakes for craft shows, and took pride in their children and grandchildren’s’ accomplishments. The grandkids have many fond memories of fishing with Papa, and making deer sausage in his homemade smoker.&nbsp; Harold was an avid outdoorsman and craftsman who could make and repair almost anything. &nbsp;&nbsp;Harold was skilled from a variety of different occupations.&nbsp; He retired as maintenance from the Ellinwood High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;Harold was a member of St. Joseph Church and Ellinwood Fire Department.

Survivors include son, Steve (Kim) Miller, Ellinwood; daughters, Cheryln (Jon) Christian and Angela Behnke, Hillsboro; daughter-in-law, Pam Miller, Ponca City,&nbsp;grandchildren, Troy, Michelle, Jessica, Autumn, Ryan, Scott, Brayden &amp; Breauna; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elma “Jean” Miller; son, Nathan Miller; and sister, Peggy McGee.&nbsp;

Horst Eigruber, 84, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by family at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.&nbsp; He was a past President of American Maplan.

Horst was born on August 8, 1939, in Linz, Austria, the son of August and Johanna (Spazenegger) Eigruber.&nbsp; On October 14, 1983, Horst was united in marriage to Irmengard Schoelderle at Feldafing, Germany.

He was an Austrian Army Veteran and was a member of the McPherson American Legion Post #24.

Survivors include: his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Irmengard of the home; four children, Barbara Sattler (Alexander) of Austria, Sebastian Eigruber (Barbara) of Austria, Ferdi Eigruber of McPherson, KS, and Anna Anders (Eric) of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Isabella Sattler, Paul Eigruber, and Pia Eigruber; a sister, Inge Resch of Austria; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.

A Celebration of Life (come and go) will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the McPherson Opera House Grand Ballroom, 219 South Main St., McPherson, KS 67460.&nbsp;

Rita Marie Owens, 82, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Rita was born on October 27, 1940, in York, NE, the daughter of Louis Vincent and Helen Marie (Haupt) Kaspari.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School in 1958.&nbsp; She worked as a secretary for Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance and CertainTeed.

On March 19, 1960, Rita was united in marriage to John “Johnny” Everett Owens in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children, Terri, Jeff, and Julie.&nbsp; Johnny preceded Rita in death on June 5, 2017.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include: three children, Terri (Mark) Archer of McPherson, KS, Jeff Owens of McPherson, KS, and Julie (Lyle) Silsby of Canton, KS; six grandchildren, Jason (Samantha) Archer, Craig (Haley) Archer, Travis (Juliana) Myers, Taylor (Darci) Myers, Leah Silsby, and Garrett Silsby; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Steve) Ulrey of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Enid Wilmeth of Ft. Collins, CO and Pearl Kaspari of Sutherland, NE; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Delores D. ‘Dee’ Stricker, 82, of Hutchinson, died September 15, 2023, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. She was born March 10, 1941, McPherson, to Albert W. and Agnes (Willard) Pearson.

Dee graduated from McPherson High School, in 1959. She worked as an accounting supervisor for Dillons Supermarket Stores. She was a Sky Ryders mom, Hutchinson. Dee enjoyed gardening flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dee attended Emanuel Lutheran Church and took pride in her mission work with the Emanuel Lutheran Women’s Group, WELCA.

Dee married and had her two children with Robert ‘Bobby’ Jones, later they divorced. Her second marriage was to Paul ‘Pat’ Taylor, he passed on January 22, 2001. On August 23, 2003, she married Leon Henry Stricker. They shared over 8 years of marriage before his passing on September 12, 2011.

Dee is survived by her: daughters, Debra (Rick) Rhodenbaugh, Inman, and Sandi (Mike) Brackett, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Lindsey Hall, Hutchinson, Shaun (Amanda) Brackett, Overland Park, Alisha (Jason) Elliot, Moundridge, Dustin (Ann) Roberts, Buhler, KS, and Travis (Alexis) Rhodenbaugh, Hutchinson; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Davis, McPherson; and brother, Floyd (Carla) Pearson, McPherson.

Maryclare Elizabeth (Monnie by her siblings) “Mary” Konicek, 92, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at Angel Arms in McPherson.

Maryclare was born in Schuyler, Nebraska on August 15, 1931, the daughter of the Edward J. and Caroline Josephine (Tesnohlidek) Patach.

Maryclare attended Schuyler grade schools and graduated from Schuyler High School, Schuyler, Nebraska.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, where she belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church Atlar Society.&nbsp; She was also a member of American Legion Post 24 Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 Auxiliary.

Maryclare was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.&nbsp; Through the years she also worked as a secretary for the maintenance department of McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas for over 20 years.

She enjoyed doing crafts, going to craft shows with Stanley, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Maryclare was united in marriage to Stanley Lambert "Stan" Konicek on May 10, 1951 in Schuyler, Nebraska. The couple established their first home together on acreage outside Heun, Nebraska.&nbsp; They then moved to Schuyler, Nebraska for a few years prior to moving to Grand Island, Nebraska and moved to McPherson, Kansas in 1960. This union was blessed with the birth of eight children, three sons and five daughters; Cheryl, Allen, Bill, Jeanette, Diana, Kathy, John, and Caroline.

She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Pankewich, of Gardner, Kansas, Jeanette (Doug) James of Kansas City, Missouri and Diana (Scott) Sandidge of Alton, Illinois, Kathy (Kelly) Gonzles of Garden City, Kansas,Caroline (Jay) Crawford of McPherson, Kansas; sons, Allen Konicek, (significant other Janet Musick) of Burlingame, Kansas and Bill (Jeanne) Konicek, of Lander, Wyoming; 22 grandchildren, Skip Pankewich (Stephanie), Laura Jordan(Shane), Jeff Pankewich (Heidi), Jessica Dodson (Kieth), Dakotah Konicek (Stephanie) , Shadoe Konicek (Sidney), Candace &nbsp;Valenzuela (Joseph), Nicolette Noser, Brittney James, Jordan James, Isaac Sandidge(Kristina), Jason Sandidge, Laura Sandidge, Aubrie Sandidge (J.T.), Danielle Stokes (Richard), Joshua &nbsp;Gonzles (Megan), Tiffiany Gonzles (Derek Jones) , Paula Gonzles (C.J. Helen Marie Wilson, 77, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler, KS.

Helen was born on October 27, 1945 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Merriel and Marie (Dueser) Kountz. Helen attended St. Teresa’s Catholic High School, in Hutchinson, and graduated in 1963. She loved reading, going down to the dining hall for coffee, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed collecting elephants, gardening with rosebushes and houseplants. On April 16, 1966, Helen married Richard Lee Wilson in Hutchinson. They were married 33 years before he passed away on February 2, 2000.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Wilson of Columbus, OH; daughter, Catherine Wilson of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Gauge Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Christina Schoepf and Leia Schoepf; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Luna and Sylas; brother, Jack (Nancy) Kountz; and sister, Carol (Kenneth) Ratzlaff.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; brother, James Kountz and sisters, Marilyn Merkel and Jane Bloomer.

Wanda Fay Flynn, 78, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Mennonite Friendship Manor, South Hutchinson, KS. She was born in Leachville, Arkansas on April 18, 1945 to Claudie and Josephine (Davis) Healey.

Fay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and follower of Christ. &nbsp;She married Darrell “Butch” Flynn in December 1961 in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;They had two sons, Danny and Randy Flynn. &nbsp;Fay and Butch shared 61 wonderful years of marriage together. Butch survives of the home.

Fay is also survived by her sons, both of Hutchinson; sister, Brenda Hill of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Heather, Darren, Jordan, Joshua, and Nick; and twelve great-grandchildren, Kia, Elijah, Amira, Baylee, Hayden, Layken, Juliana, Jameson, Sawyer, Myles, Karis, and Rowan.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claudie and Josephine; and her three brothers, Bucky, Frankie, and Jim “Bo” Healey.
