
Velma Jean Davis, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS. She was born February 2, 1937, in Garden City, KS to Albert Logan and Izetta Ruth (Plemmons) Carter.
In 1955, Velma graduated from Topeka High School. On July 31, 1955, Velma married Charles I. Davis in Woodward, OK. Velma worked in the food service industry and worked for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and Good Samaritan. She also owned her own daycare for a short time. She was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church and later a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brothers, Charles Carter, Rev. Gerold Carter, Elmer Carter and Henry Carter; sisters, Pearl Metcalf, Edith Morrison, Betty Wilson, and Helen Sandoz.She is survived by her son Charles Leroy and wife Candace, Marinette, WI; three grandchildren, Heather Geer, David Davis and wife Anna, and Joel Davis, and two great grandchildren, Harper and Gemma Davis.
A funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Visitation will be 10 A.M to service time on November 27, 2023 at the funeral chapel.
