Robert D Lucas, 77 of Hutchinson, KS, passed peacefully on February 15, 2024.&nbsp;

In 1946, Bob was born to Johnny and Bonnie Lucas in Goodland, KS.&nbsp;

Bob is survived by his wife, Georgia, of 58 years, two daughters, Shauna Eash and Robyn Harbert, grandchildren, Lucas (Shayla) Avery, Cody (Erica Hays) Lucas, James (Kali) Avery, Jared (Alexia) Eash, Tyler (Amanda) Eash, Linday Eash, Kelsy (Caeden) Fly, and seventeen great grandchildren, sister Donna Konrade and niece, Tammy Priest.&nbsp;

Bob graduated from Denver Colorado Barber college in 1965. He was employed as a barber for many years, and with Grant County Feedlot. Bob retired from Cargill Salt after 30 years.

His great love, besides his family, was animals. Especially horses, cattle, dogs and cats. He also ran numerous 5K's with his beloved canine best friend, Indigo.&nbsp;

Robert's family will be hosting a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Dillon Nature Center in Hutchinson.

Sonja Karin Smith, daughter of Fritjoff and Nendean (Stott) Mark, was born October 15, 1935, at McPherson Hospital in McPherson, Kansas.&nbsp; Sonja survived mastoid infections in the 5th&nbsp;and 6th&nbsp;grades and was sent to a children’s ward at Wesley Hospital in Wichita to receive penicillin treatments, as that medication was not available in McPherson.

Sonja attended Washington Elementary School and graduated in 1953 from McPherson Senior High School.&nbsp; She went on to McPherson College and graduated from there in 1957. She was an elementary school teacher.&nbsp;

Sonja and sister, Inga, were baptized together by Rev. Walter Upton at the First Congregational Church chapel in McPherson.&nbsp;

Sonja enjoyed roller skating and met her future husband at Petersons Roller Rink, rural McPherson.&nbsp; Paul and Sonja were married July 13, 1958, by Rev. Alfred Bartter at the First Congregational Church in McPherson.&nbsp; They went on a honeymoon trip, driving to San Francisco, California.&nbsp; Paul passed away on October 15, 2016.

Sonja enjoyed farm life, raising a garden, and canning.&nbsp; She was a member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans, and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, Sunday school teacher, and also played the piano, violin, and cello.

Sonja passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at McPherson Hospital.&nbsp; She was eighty-seven.

Survivors include son, Loren; daughter, Cara Dietterick and husband, John; grandsons, Maxfield Dietterick and Samel Dietterick; niece, Christine Langone; and step-niece, Debra Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Inga Lawrence.&nbsp;

Per Sonja’s wishes, there will be no service.&nbsp; The final resting place will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Sonja Karin Smith |1935-2024|

Ruth M. Neufeldt, 84, passed away February 19, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1939, to Vernon and Marie Hendrixson. She was then adopted by Henry and Marie Esau Willems in December, 1940. She had attended Central Christian High School. She married Lewis Neufeldt on May 16, 1956. They settled in a home in McPherson County. She had owned Ruthie’s Café and now Neufeldt’s Variety Store. She was an avid bowler and loved to do puzzles.

Survivors include her husband; her children; Rick (Lori) Neufeldt, Inman, Rod (Lee Brannon) Neufeldt, Newton, and Sonya (Paul) Harshberger, Hutchinson; a sister, Carol (Galen) Jantz, Inman; grandchildren, Tiffany (Brian) Vogts, Inman, Ashley (Nathan) Harold, McPherson, Lindsay (Justin) Shaff, Norfolk, VA, and Chelsea (Nick) Davis, Inman; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great grandchild, Kiara Shaff; and a nephew, Roger Whitlock.

Per her wishes, cremation will take place. Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church, Inman. Nicholas Dean “Nick” Urbin, 57, of Wichita, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.&nbsp; He&nbsp;was born on December 5, 1966 in Newton, Kansas to Robert &amp; Mary (Purkey) Urbin.

Nick attended Valley Center schools and graduated from Valley Center High School in 1985. &nbsp;He played football for VCHS and liked the competition of the defensive end position. &nbsp;After graduation, he held a variety of jobs and never shied away from hard work.&nbsp;

Nick’s passion were his children. &nbsp;He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan for many decades. &nbsp;He enjoyed his friends, hunting, fishing, cooking and finding new recipes to share.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Urbin; a brother, Rusty Urbin; grandparents, Donald &amp; Mary Jane Purkey and Jack &amp; Gertrude Urbin; aunts Kay Monge and Marjorie Purkey; uncle Donald “Bud” Purkey, Jr and cousin Donalyn “Doni” Arbuckle.

Nick is survived by his mother Mary Donna Urbin, sister Lora (Joey) King of Valley Center and brother Kelly Urbin of Valley Center. &nbsp;His three children Cherish (Alan) Freeman of Wichita, Faith Urbin and Luke Urbin both of (Grand Junction, CO) and two grandchildren Gavin and Charlotte; several nephews, three great nephews and many cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bentley Kansas.

Frances L. Holdeman, 93, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Moundridge Manor. She was born on January 14, 1931 in Merced, California, the daughter of Jacob G. and Tina (Reimer) Loewen.

Frances attended Cressey and Hilmar, California schools.

She was a member of the Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Hesston.

Frances was united in marriage to Duane A. Holdeman on October 5, 1952 in Creswell, OR. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her son, Daniel (Linda) Holdeman of Stapleton, GA; daughter-in-law, Wanda (Gladwin) Koehn of Gentry, AR; sons, Caleb (Joanne) Holdeman of Riceville, IA, Stanley (Kathy) Holdeman of Hartwell, GA, Harold (Irene) Holdeman of Rio Verde, Brazil, and Lester (Sharon) Holdeman of Pryor, OK; daughters, Priscilla (Arlo) Hibner of Rio Verde, Brazil, Irene (Sidney) Schmidt of Adair, OK, and Adeline (Staven) Schmidt of El Campo, TX; 31 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jacob (Betty) Loewen of Rio Verde, Brazil, and Isaac (Rosalie) Loewen of Glenn, CA; and sisters, Salome (Eugene) Unruh of Moundridge, and Lois Holdeman of Russellville, AR.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Holdeman; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters and one brother.

Michael D. Sturgeon, 61, died February 18, 2024, at his Newton residence. He was born September 9, 1962, in Newton, Kansas to Joe and Carolyn (Boyes) Sturgeon.

Michael attended St. Mary Catholic Church in his younger years. He was a 1980 graduate of Newton High School and worked for several years for the City of Newton Sanitation Department. He also worked in the aircraft industry in Wichita and Excel in Hesston.&nbsp;

He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles having owned both a soft tail and Sportster bike. He was a race fan and enjoyed time at the Wichita International Raceway. &nbsp;He enjoyed attending car shows with his family, especially the Newton Downtown Car Show and cruise nights. &nbsp;Family was important to Michael, and he looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends. He also shared his love with his Boston Terrier, Braxton.He is survived by his brother, Todd Sturgeon, sister, Crystal (Sturgeon) Ruiz, many nieces, nephews, great nephews, a great niece, and many extended family members.&nbsp;Michael is preceded in death by his parents.Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church with The Reverend Andrew Bergkamp leading the Rosary. Scherrie Swartz Brown, 73, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 in Wichita, KS. &nbsp;She was born March 9, 1950, the daughter of Bradley Herman and Hazel Marie (Smith) Swartz.

Scherrie is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Swartz, Edward Swartz, Clifford Swartz, and Aaron Swartz.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Brown; sons, Westley Brown and Johnny Brown; sisters, Michelle Swartz and Rita Swartz; and a brother, Mark Swartz.&nbsp;

Scherrie Swartz Brown |1950-2024|

Edward ‘Ed’ James Martinez, 82, died February 17, 2024, at his home in Wichita, KS. &nbsp;He was born August 8, 1941, in Halstead, KS, to Santiago “Jim” P. Martinez and Maria Santos (Baltierra) Martinez.

Ed was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. &nbsp;He served in the Kansas National Guard. &nbsp;Ed was an instructor at Hutchinson Community College for 14 years and was one of the organizers of the HCC Mexican American Advisory Committee. While in college, he served on the Affirmative Action Committee advocating for equality. &nbsp;He was employed in the family-owned business, Martinez and Sons, a manufacturing machine shop. &nbsp;Ed then went to work at Mission Tortillas and retired as the district sales manager for Tortilla King.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;He served on numerous boards and committees, such as the American Red Cross, Farmers Home Administration, Hutchinson Public Library Board, Our Lady of Guadalupe Athletic Committee, and First Call for Help to name just a few. &nbsp;Ed coached the Hutchinson Los Lobos Fastpitch Softball Team for over 25 years. &nbsp;On October 24, 1964, he married Mary Louise Sapien. &nbsp;They later divorced.

Martinez and Maria Santos (Baltierra) Martinez.Ed was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. &nbsp;He served in the Kansas National Guard. &nbsp;Ed was an instructor at Hutchinson Community College for 14 years and was one of the organizers of the HCC Mexican American Advisory Committee. William S. “Bill” Michelstetter, 65, died February 17, 2024, at Hospice House of Hutchinson, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born March 15, 1958, in Hutchinson, to William and Carma Leta (Nelson) Michelstetter. &nbsp;He fought a lengthy, but courageous battle with GPA, formerly known as Wegener’s Granulomatosis (a rare autoimmune disease) and a new diagnosis of MDS/Myelodysplasia Syndrome (a rare blood cancer).&nbsp;

Bill graduated from Buhler High School in 1976, and he worked various places as a product designer. He retired in March of 2023 from Kuhn Krause after 15 years of service. &nbsp;Bill enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping and spending many summers at Kanopolis Lake. He was a die- hard St Louis and Arizona Cardinal fan. Bill and his wife, Linda, enjoyed visiting Bella Vista, AR every year to play as many golf courses as they could. In addition, he enjoyed coaching “Team Lightning Wrestling Club” for 8 years. Bill loved his family more than anything. He was a member of Inspire Church, Hutchinson.

On June 9, 1978, he married the love of his life Linda Meister, in Hutchinson, KS.

Bill is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 46 years, Linda of Hutchinson; children, Laura Friesen (Kim) of Eagle River, AK, Jennifer Sullivant (Todd), and Kyle Michelstetter (Sierra); sister, Barbara Schneider (Steve), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Gage Friesen (Miriam), Kadon Friesen, Malia Friesen, Talon Sullivant, Cohen Sullivant, Nataleigh Sullivant, Tyson Michelstetter, and Jacoby Michelstetter; great-grandchildren, Hazel Friesen and Amelia Friesen; stepmom Carolyn Michelstetter; stepsister, Kathy Martin of Shawnee; stepbrother, Randy Martin of Missouri; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and his four-legged companion, Heidi Sue.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: his father, William Michelstetter; mother, Carma Leta Martin; stepfather, Keith Martin; and Leta’s companion, Clemons L “Pat” Bergmeier.&nbsp;

 Ken was born on February 20, 1932 in Crawford, Nebraska to Bernice and Amos Hymer. He attended Chadron High School.&nbsp;

After moving to Newton, Kansas, Mr Hymer owned and operated Larry’s Drive Inn and later owned This and That, a candle and gift shop. &nbsp;He also worked as an assistant manager at TG&amp;Y in Wichita, Kansas.

Ken was an avid coin dealer since his youth and sold coins all over the United States and some foreign countries. &nbsp;In March 2006 he was featured in an article in the World Coin News. &nbsp;He discovered a reverse doubled-die that was restricted to the virtual dead center of the design on a 1965 Canadian 1-cent piece.

On September 4, 1988 he married Bonita Ellington and resided in Wichita until his death.He is survived by his wife, Bonita; children, Susan Glasgow, Jerry (Martha) Hymer, Kimberly Hymer, Connie (Todd) Myers; 8 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 5:00 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home. Private family internment has been planned.

She was a proud resident of Lincoln, KS and was a graduate of Southern NH University where she earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees. She worked as a business development manager for Enel Green Power North American, possessing exceptional business and systems knowledge. Her family and friends were her two biggest passions.Tami was preceded in death by her parents, Glenda and Marvin.She is survived by her dear friend Ginny Bennett; son, Johnathan Murdock of Herber Springs, AR; grandson, Daniel Ray Cloud, and great grandson, Oliver Phoenix Cloud both of Jasper, AR.

Suzi graduated from Garland High School in 1971 and attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX, where she studied opera. Moving to Hutchinson in 1975, Suzi worked in the cosmetics departments at Peques Department Store, Terry Bloskey’s Clothing Store, and then at Nieman Marcus, in Dallas, from 1982 to 1999. Together, Suzi and Doug owned Yesterday's Treasures and The Tiffany House and Suzi managed Suzi’s Place boutique. She also obtained her real estate license and was an agent with Coldwell Banker. Suzi was an avid advocate for children and volunteered for CASA until they closed, and most recently with the Reno County Citizen Review Board. She also enjoyed performing at Stage 9 Theater and exercising at Genesis and Beatz Fitness. Suzi was a member of CrossPoint Church, where she was involved in Grow Groups and served as a Greeter and Serve Team Leader.

On November 20, 1976, Suzi married Douglas H. Fisher, in Sterling. He survives.

Also surviving are: their son, Josh Fisher (Michelle Johnson), brother, Michael A. Young (Michael Postal) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; sister-in-law, Lynette Tompkins (Gregg) of Yukon, OK; brother-in-law, Steve Fisher of Los Angeles, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at CrossPoint Church, 1410 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson.

Ila Marie (Proffitt) Linder, 86, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away February 17, 2024, in Lyons, Kansas.

A proud product of the prairie, Ila Marie Proffitt was born on August 20, 1937 in Sterling, Kansas. The only daughter of J.M. &amp; Lutie (Towse) Proffitt, Ila joined big brothers Wayne and Billy. Eventually baby brother, Gary, joined the scene. Endless memories were soon made by the Proffitt four, first, out in the sandhills by Alden, then south of Sterling in pastures near the Arkansas River. Ila was proud to be the daughter and sister of farmers and she herself was active in 4H and completing before and after school farm chores. Ila graduated form Sterling High School in 1955, where she participated in band, FHA, 4H &amp; Y-Teens. After high school, Ila attended Grace School of Nursing in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated as a proud Registered Nurse. It was her nursing school classmate, Irene, who would introduce her to a young Army man, Rex Linder. Rex and Ila were married at Sterling United Methodist Church on September 29, 1958. The army would take Rex &amp; Ila and their four children, Cathy, Roger, Mike, and Nancy to Kansas, Germany, Georgia and Washington, moving a total of 19 times. With four kids in tow, there was no doubt where Ila would go during Rex’s two tours in Vietnam: home to Sterling. After Rex’s retirement from the U.S. Army, the family settled in Clay Center, Kansas.

After the kids were done with high school, Ila began working at the Clay County Health Department until she retired as the Director In 1997. With the retirement chapter ahead of them, Ila and Rex knew where they should go: home to Sterling. Rex and Ila quickly settled in just south of town and enjoyed time gardening, spoiling their grandchildren, and spending time in their community. Never one to be fully still, Ila spent hours with her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and of course- her brothers. Additionally, she worked a few hours a week at the Rice County Health Department in Lyons. After Rex’s passing in 2012, Ila moved into town and enjoyed traveling, lunching with friends, but most importantly, her family. She was proud to have raised a respiratory therapist, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, a pharmacist, and a teacher. She was incredibly proud of their grandchildren and their accomplishments in their personal and professional lives. She was especially keen on the addition of Megs, Hanna, Jaime, Eric, and Olivia. But, in all honesty, no one else could compare with Arya, Ryker, &amp; Tommy- the great grands. Ila Proffitt Linder was meticulous. She was marvelous. She was our matriarch. She will always be missed.

Ila was proceeded in death by her husband Rex, her brothers- Wayne (Ruth), Billy (Joann), and Gary (Joanna) Proffitt, her parents, J.M. &amp; Lutie Proffitt, and her Linder brothers and sisters-in -law.

She is survived by her four children, Cathy Lutz, Roger (Connie) Linder, Mike, and Nancy (Tom) Rundel, Her ten grandchildren, Maj. Jerad (Jaime) Linder, Dustin (Maeghan) Linder, Case Rundel, Emily Lutz, Will Lutz (Olivia Marks), Colton (Hanna) Rundel, Sam Linder, Elly Lutz (Eric Gordon), John Linder and Morgan Blackim. And three great grandchildren, Arya and Ryker Linder and Tommy Rundel. Other surviving family include brother-in-law, Gene Stout, sisters-in-law Donna and Paula Proffitt, and a host of Proffitt and Linder nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, Sterling, with Pastor Amy Foster officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 23, 2024, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. With the retirement chapter ahead of them, Ila and Rex knew where they should go: home to Sterling. Rex and Ila quickly settled in just south of town and enjoyed time gardening, spoiling their grandchildren, and spending time in their community. Never one to be fully still, Ila spent hours with her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and of course- her brothers. Additionally, she worked a few hours a week at the Rice County Health Department in Lyons. After Rex’s passing in 2012, Ila moved into town and enjoyed traveling, lunching with friends, but most importantly, her family. She was proud to have raised a respiratory therapist, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, a pharmacist, and a teacher. She was incredibly proud of their grandchildren and their accomplishments in their personal and professional lives. She was especially keen on the addition of Megs, Hanna, Jaime, Eric, and Olivia. But, in all honesty, no one else could compare with Arya, Ryker, &amp; Tommy- the great grands. Ila Proffitt Linder was meticulous. She was marvelous. She was our matriarch. She will always be missed.Ila was proceeded in death by her husband Rex, her brothers- Wayne (Ruth), Billy (Joann), and Gary (Joanna) Proffitt, her parents, J.M. &amp; Lutie Proffitt, and her Linder brothers and sisters-in -law.She is survived by her four children, Cathy Lutz, Roger (Connie) Linder, Mike, and Nancy (Tom) Rundel, Her ten grandchildren, Maj. Joan Elaine Wegele, 77, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 5:25 am, Sunday, February 18, 2024 at McPherson Health And Rehab, McPherson, KS.

Joan was born in Logan, Iowa on August 21, 1946, a daughter of Achsa (Dishon) and Kenneth Chichester, of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Joan attended the Logan and Missouri Valley, Iowa grade schools and graduated from Council Bluffs High School, Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1964.

She was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church.

Through the years Joan worked as a waitress for The Plaza, Sirloin Stockade, Red Coach, McPherson, Kansas. She then worked as a delivery person for McPherson Sentinel until she retired.She was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and Gently Aged Ladies Quilting in McPherson, Kansas.

Joan enjoyed quilting, exercising and spending time with her friends and family.

Joan E. Chichester was united in marriage to Clarence L. Wegele on April 8, 1968 at McPherson, Kansas.

She is survived by her children, Christina Koch, Newton, KS. and David Wegele(Kim), of Windom, Kansas; her sisters, Jean Squier and Shirley McNeley, of Missouri Valley, IA.. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Francis, George, Virginia, Marilyn, Norma, Lois and Carolyn.

Martha Mae Penner, 91, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Moundridge Manor. She was born on August 30, 1932 in Hillsboro, Kansas, the daughter of David H. and Anna (Hoeppner) Dyck.

She attended Ebenfeld School at Hillsboro and later Winton, California schools.

Martha was a member of the Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge.

She was united in marriage to Richard L. Penner on October 26, 1952 in Winton, California.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Penner of Moundridge; daughters, Mary Lou (Loren) Unruh of Charlo, MT, Jeanette (Arlin) Unruh of Hesston, and Kristine (James) Koehn of Galva; sons, Galen (Cindy) Penner of Halstead, and Laurence (Berniece) Penner of Elmhurst, NY; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Diane C. Penner; five sisters and four brothers.

She was born June 14, 1947, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Richard and Roberta Stout Drake, Sr. She married Larry Yates on April 3, 1966, in Alden, KS. She worked side by side with him, farming, and ranching at their farm in Reno County, doing the bookkeeping and driving the cattle. She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, had been a 4H Leader, judged and showed horses and was a master gardener.

Survivors include her husband Larry, of the home in Sterling; siblings, Radonna (Rick Figger) Drake, Phoenix, AZ, Richelle (Robert) Miller, Philadelphia, Robin (Tyler) McVay, Sterling, KS, Richard (Kathleen Schroeder) Drake, Jr., Canton, KS, Rodney Drake, Springfield, MO, Ramona Drake, Enid, OK, and Robert Michael Drake, Phoenix, AZ; 2 sister in laws, Glenna Taylor, Great Bend, KS and Pattie (Gerald) Belden, Buhler, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry M. Tredway, 84, of Galva, KS, passed away on February 15, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 59 years, Berenice (Johnson). &nbsp;Larry is also survived by two sons Brent (Jena) of Houston TX and Burton (Jane) of Wichita KS, as well as a sister Donna Ruth Graham of Mesa, AZ. &nbsp;Larry was also “Papa” to 8 grandchildren, Ryan, Haley, Lindsey, Lilly, Layla, and Jonathon, Jena and Jaden. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents George and Beulah Tredway of Burden, KS.

Larry was an avid K-State Fan. He and Bernie held season football tickets and attended a countless number of games over the years. Everyone was always welcome at the Tredway’s tailgate, and nobody ever left hungry or thirsty.&nbsp;

Larry was very civic and community minded as he called Galva home for over 50 years. &nbsp;He served numerous terms on the Canton-Galva School Board as well as on the Galva City Council. &nbsp;He was the first to volunteer when his sons were active in school and was always proud to help sponsor any local events and activities that promoted the local community. Larry never missed his sons’ games and could be seen attending Canton-Galva sporting events long after his two sons graduated. He was also very passionate about his grandchildren and attended their sporting events whenever he could.

For nearly 50 years, Larry wholeheartedly served many clients as an Insurance Agent. &nbsp;He considered many of his clients close personal friends. The personalized service he provided was second to none. These clients knew that with one phone call, Larry would be out the door to visit them to meet all their needs.

LaVerne Wesley Trindal, 75, died February 14, 2024, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born October 4, 1948, in Concordia, to Wesley LaVerne and Donna Irene (Cyr) Trindal.

LaVerne graduated from McPherson High School. He became a bus driver for Trinity Jr./ Sr. High School. &nbsp;

LaVerne enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved decorating for the holidays, animals and spending time his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

On February 20, 1981, he married Karen Elaine Showalter, in Miami, OK. They shared over 42 years of marriage.

LaVerne is survived by: his wife, Karen Trindal of Hutchinson, KS; children, Hal (Beth) Trindal of Girard, KS, Heather Susan (Levi) Hastings of Pittsburg, KS, Clifford Trindal of Hutchinson, KS, Megan (Casey) Word of Westminster, CO; sister, Dena Rhea; brothers-in-law, Craig Hull of Arlington, KS, Doyle Showalter of Hitchcock, TX, sister-in-law, Beth Hull; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was born in Concordia, Kansas to Dean Gill and Colleen (Alquist) Gill. He was raised in Salina, Kansas where he attended schools and was a graduate of Salina South High School. His working career was in carpentry and construction. He served in the U.S. Army Air National Guard where he received his honorable discharge.&nbsp; Gary loved the outdoors enjoying camping, fishing and hunting. He was very patriotic and appreciated his country.

Jackie Ray Houseberg 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. in Wichita Kansas.&nbsp; He was born in Wichita Kansas to Maxine (Gordon) Houseberg and Jack M Houseberg. His parents both preceded him in death.&nbsp; He attended North High School in Wichita.&nbsp; His career as a cement finisher was with the USD 259 School District where he retired from.

He was a lifelong Oklahoma Football Sooner fan. &nbsp;Game days were big. &nbsp;Jack's family and friends would have a great time, which were filled with a lot of fun. This sometimes conflicted with his attendance to the Winfield Bluegrass Festival with Banned Camp every year in September. Somehow he always managed to at least watch the football games on television or attend the game.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Karen (TenBarge) Houseberg and his children Jessica (Houseberg) Jones and her husband Heath of Rose Hill, KS and Kristopher Houseberg and his wife Brooke (Brownlee) Houseberg of Wichita, KS; his grandchildren: Grace Jones, Hayden Houseberg and Huxton Houseberg; his sister: Pam (Houseberg) Lipton of Andover; other family and friends.&nbsp;

 </figure>Jackie Ray Houseberg 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. in Wichita Kansas.&nbsp; He was born in Wichita Kansas to Maxine (Gordon) Houseberg and Jack M Houseberg. His parents both preceded him in death.&nbsp; He attended North High School in Wichita.&nbsp; His career as a cement finisher was with the USD 259 School District where he retired from.He was a lifelong Oklahoma Football Sooner fan. &nbsp;Game days were big. &nbsp;Jack's family and friends would have a great time, which were filled with a lot of fun. This sometimes conflicted with his attendance to the Winfield Bluegrass Festival with Banned Camp every year in September. Somehow he always managed to at least watch the football games on television or attend the game.Jackie is survived by his wife, Karen (TenBarge) Houseberg and his children Jessica (Houseberg) Jones and her husband Heath of Rose Hill, KS and Kristopher Houseberg and his wife Brooke (Brownlee) Houseberg of Wichita, KS; his grandchildren: Grace Jones, Hayden Houseberg and Huxton Houseberg; his sister: Pam (Houseberg) Lipton of Andover; other family and friends.&nbsp;Baker Funeral Home Valley Center is in charge of arrangements. Joseph R. “Joe” Lichti, 71, of Moundridge, died Feb. 14 surrounded by his family at the Newton Regional Medical Center. Joe, a lifelong resident of rural Moundridge, was born Sept. 19, 1952, in Newton to Raymond and Betty Lichti. He grew up on a farm west of Moundridge, learning to drive a tractor at the age of 6. He farmed most of his life and was employed as a farm worker and large equipment operator. He served as a volunteer firefighter and reserve police officer in Moundridge.

Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was known for hosting fun social activities that sometimes involved roasting a pig or taking his friends pheasant hunting.

He was a member of the Eden Mennonite Church of Moundridge and served as usher. He went to Cloverleaf Grade School and graduated from Moundridge High School. He attended Bethel College in North Newton for a short time.

As a youth, Joe was a member of the Golden Opportunity 4-H Club and later the Future Farmers of America. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

On Aug. 9, 1975, he married Debra Sue Dirks at Eden Mennonite Church. They had three children, who gave him five grandchildren, who provided great pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Debra, of the home; a son, Matthew and his wife Leah of Moundridge; a son, Tyler of McPherson; and daughter Samantha and her husband Heath Doane, of Canton; two grandsons, Atley and Zaiden Lichti; and three granddaughters, Preslie, Piper and Pixie Doane. He is also survived by his sisters, Lou Lichti of Frederick, MD, and Carol Lichti and husband Jim Haag of Victor, ID.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Eden Mennonite Church. Diane Lynn Williams, 67, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at her home in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She and her twin brother, Dan Roberts, were born on New Years Day, January 1, 1957 in Hutchinson, Kansas, she was the daughter of Richard Harold Roberts and Dona Marlene Roberts. With her father being a Pastor, the family lived in several places. Diane graduated from high school in Greensburg, Kansas in 1975.

She married Benny Mark Williams on April 22, 1979 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.&nbsp;&nbsp;The couple moved to Kansas from Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1987, where Diane worked as a C.N.A. at the Winfield State Hospital &amp; Training Center in Winfield, Kansas for several years. The couple then moved to Great Bend, Kansas where they made Great Bend their home.

Diane and Benny loved to travel in their RV across the county taking many vacations stopping at lakes, museums and many tourist attractions. They loved spending time with their family and making cherished memories.

Her husband Benny died on October 22, 2014. Diane moved from Great Bend to Hutchinson in 2018.

Diane loved her family tremendously and her most cherished moments and memories were made with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters April Williams-Harmon of Hutchinson and Amy Hartung with Evan McGee of Pretty Prairie, Kansas; son Brandon Williams with Karissa Wagner of Hutchinson; brothers Mike Roberts and wife Joy Roberts of Ponca City, Okla., Pat Roberts and wife Cindy Roberts of Shelby, N.C., Dan Roberts of Burrton, Ks., and Tim Roberts and wife Sherrie Roberts of Plevna, Ks.

Diane adored her grandchildren and they brought sunshine, meaning and purpose to her life. Her surviving grandchildren and their significant others are&nbsp;Marissa Kennedy with Josh Graves, Adrianna Kennedy with Karissa Williams, Garrett Kennedy with Ali Leiker, Hannah Seals with Jarell Seals, Bralee Williams with Blake Stegman, Bryson Hartung, Hayden Hartung, Alizanna Hartung, Brooklyn Williams, Azlyn Williams, Aidyn Chavez, Ariya McBlair, and Axtyn Wagner; along with two great grandchildren Braden Kennedy and Benny Graves.

Along with her husband, Benny Williams, Diane is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Dona Roberts, and brother Bret Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Affordable Cremations Plus, 7920 W. Kellogg Drive, Wichita, Ks.

The casket will be open between 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Bonnie, son Martin Myrin Achilles (Carrie), grandchildren, Martin Victor, Gabrielle, Victoria Donalson (Travis),&nbsp; Great grandchildren: Noah, Tobias and Jaxson. He is also survived by brothers Russell (Sherry), William “Bill” (Karen) and Kenneth (Sharyl), and nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Buhler High School, Hutchinson Community College and the Wichita Technical Institute.&nbsp; He spent three years military service in the US Army, plus two years in the National Guard.

Eddie Gaylord Jennings, 76, of Haysville, entered fully into the presence of our Lord and Savior on January 18, 2024.&nbsp; He was born in Little Rock, AR on January 29th, 1947, to Lewis Thomas Jennings and Claudia M'rhea (Shipman) Jennings. He was a graduate of West High School, Wichita. After graduation he served in the US Navy. His career as a mechanic carried over into his great love for race cars and drag racing which he greatly enjoyed helping others by being part of the crew.

Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAnn "Jody" Goodwin; daughter, Djuana Wishon; sons Ricky and Danny Goodwin; sister, Sharon Meeks; brothers, Tommy and Patrick Jennings.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Goodwin, Vanessa Israelson; son, Roy Jordan; sisters, Susan Forrester, Cheryl Cox, Debra Slapar, Pamela Jennings; brothers, Michael, Phillip, and Donald Jennings; various nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
