Fred’s main goal in life was to be a follower of Jesus Christ. “God has given no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Fred was content having the joy of knowing that Jesus is his LORD and Savior. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Hutchinson.
Fred O. Saenger was born August 22, 1934, in Sylvan Grove, KS, the son of John H. Saenger and Emily (Wacker) Saenger. He had four younger sisters and one younger brother. Fred died October 12, 2024, at the age of 90.
He graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in 1951. Fred received a Bachelor’s in Agriculture from Kansas State University in 1957. He taught Vocational Agriculture two years in Geneseo, KS. Fred then was a Professional Farm Manager for Doane Agricultural Service in Missouri. He moved to Hutchinson in 1965, and was an Area Loan Manager for The Equitable for 24 years. Fred retired at the age of 88 as a Financial Service salesman in Hutchinson.
Fred married Eva Jean Schroeder August 16, 1957. She died November 26, 1960. Fred then married Mary Ann Snay July 7, 1963.
Fred is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann; three children, Stephen Saenger of Lee’s Summit, MO, Stephanie Telleen (Gary) of Hutchinson and Barbara Seibel of Mauldin, SC; four grandchildren, Rebecca Dowds (Isaiah), Rachel Telleen, Sarah Hoover (Josh), and John Telleen (Kyra); eight great-grandchildren, Noah Dowds, Emma Dowds, Evie Dowds, Leah Dowds, Oliver Hoover, Jude Hoover, Lucy Hoover, and Autumn Telleen, with one more due the end of the month; sister, Caroline Schroeder; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He was preceded in death by: sisters, Hilda Schnieder, Ruth Turner, and Esther Ross; brother, Harold Saenger; and son-in-law, Doug Seibel.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Grace Bible Church, 1221 E. 33rd Avenue, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends following the service. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
