Carolyn Elizabeth Piken, 73, of Hutchinson, died October 26, 2024, at Hospice House. She was born May 5, 1951, in Hutchinson, to Frank E. and Betty A. (Shuler) Winter.

Carolyn graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969 and magna cum laude from Wichita State University in 1974. She taught for over 30 years in Hutchinson USD308, most of those years at Wiley Elementary School. Carolyn was a member of KNEA and enjoyed playing cards, quilting, cooking, and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with family. Carolyn was also a philanthropist and Hutch Juco scholarship benefactor.

On November 4, 1976, she married Bradley E. Piken, in Hutchinson. He died November 12, 2002.

Carolyn is survived by: her children, Lisa Washburn (Jason) of Surprise, AZ, David Piken (Micheleen) of Monument, CO; sister, Mary Young of Arvada, CO; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and brother, Frank Winter Jr.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Elliott Chapel. A reception will follow at Hutchinson Art Center, 405 N. Washington St., Hutchinson.

The service will be livestreamed and the stream will begin at 1:50 p.m. the day of the service.
