

Charles F. “Charlie” Gabehart, 84, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, March 18, 2021, at his home. He was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Binger, OK, to Fred and Ina Mae (Osborn) Gabehart.
Charlie graduated from high school in Binger, OK, in 1955. He retired as an electrician from KG & E after 35 years of service. Charlie enjoyed golfing and fishing. He served on the Buhler City Council and the Ark Valley Electric Cooperative from 1998-2010.
On June 4, 1976, Charlie married Iris Elizabeth Pennock, in Buhler. She died April 20, 2009, after sharing almost 33 years of marriage.
Charlie is survived by children, Teresa Alexander of Chickasha, OK, Kathy Schroeder (Tom) of Andover, Chuck Gabehart of Hutchinson, and Darren Gabehart (Tracey) of Anadarko, OK; stepchildren, Terry Combs (Cindy), Sue Redd, all of Hutchinson, and Sandy Post of Overland Park; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elsie Hall.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Burial, with military honors conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard, will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
