

Ervin Lee Horton, 93, passed away March 13, 2021, at his residence. He was born April 6, 1927, in Great Bend, to Charles Ellsworth and Hattie Ivy (Watters) Horton.
Ervin attended public schools in Great Bend and Nickerson. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947, being stationed in Germany during World War II. Ervin graduated from barber college in Oklahoma City, OK, on March 12, 1948. He owned and operated barber shops in Dodge City, Montezuma, Satanta, and Hutchinson, retiring with over 50 years of service.
Ervin loved to sing and enjoyed his time as a member of the Hutchinson Salt Minors Barbershop Chorus. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On May 28, 1947, Ervin married Margaret Ellen Warn, in Ashland. They shared over 48 years of marriage, prior to her death on Nov. 23, 1995. He then married Nancy Ruth Johnson Schweizer, on March 4, 1997, in Newton. They shared over 24 years of marriage.
Ervin is survived by wife, Nancy Horton of Hutchinson; daughters, Teri (Ed) Schriner, Karla (Mel) Limon, and Lu Crow; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Jodi (Les) Coleman, Scott (Amber) Schweizer, and Holly (Scott) Lindbloom; 12 stepgrandchildren; and 5 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; brother, Charles; sister, Goldie; daughter, Rena; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 518 E. 43rd, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021, with the family present, at the church.
