Wesley Scott Buhrman, 64, of Hutchinson, died April 26, 2021, while in the care of Hospice House. He was born July 24, 1956, in St. John, to Carl and Jean (Kernohan) Buhrman.

Wes graduated from Scott Community High School in 1975 and from Liberal Area Vocational Technical School, with training in mechanics. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was hired by Cities Service Gas Company a few years after graduating from Vocational college and he worked there for over 20 years in different capacities (Mechanic, Superintendent of Vehicle Operations, and Meter Technician).

Wes&nbsp;fulfilled his life-long&nbsp;dream of owning his own business when he opened the&nbsp;"Buhrman Service Station"&nbsp;on Main street in Hutchinson. Wes continued his self-employment dream in a handyman capacity once he committed to the care of both his parents through their later years.

Wes is survived by: his children, Deon Buhrman of Basehor, Gerome Buhrman (Jennifer) of Olathe; grandchildren, Kaden, Ashtyn Payton, Mia, Emmerson; mother, Jean Buhrman of Hutchinson; brother, Ron Buhrman (Deb) of Hesston; nephews and niece, Brett, Blake, Amy; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Buhrman.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 10th&nbsp;Avenue United Methodist Church, 300 W. 10th&nbsp;Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Attica Cemetery. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Retha Fern Martin, 97, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away April 27, 2021, at The Wellington, Fort Worth, TX. She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Miller, MO, to Mini Evelyn Ball.

On June 18, 1941, Retha married Robert Earl Martin, in Ozark, MO. They shared over 53 years of marriage, prior to his death on May 26, 1995.

She is survived by: sons, Robert L. Martin of Fort Pierce, FL, and Jerry W. (Peggy) Martin of Fort Worth, TX; siblings, Margie Sterling of Springfield, MO, James Sterling of Mountain Home, ID, Edith Sterling of Springfield, MO, Marylyn Sterling of Little Rock AR, Carol Murphy of Springfield, MO, Frank Sterling of Springfield, MO, and Tom Sterling of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Don Leon Kern, 74, passed away April 27, 2021, at his home in Great 
Bend. He was born December 17, 1946, at Great Bend, to Ervin &amp; 
Lucille (Murphy) Kern. He married Donna Dino February 19, 1966 at Great 
Bend. She died July 11, 1985. He then married Connie Fisher and they 
later divorced. He then later married Lisa Marie on March 12, 2021.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Don worked for Allen Drilling and 
most recently worked for E&amp;E Paint &amp; Glass. Don was a member of 
Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He especially 
loved to spend time with his family and his American Pit Bull Remi.

Survivors include, his wife, Lisa Kern of the home; three sons, Lafe 
Kern and wife Erin of Hutchinson, Dino Kern of Morrison, Colo., and 
Reggie Kern and wife Meghan of Great Bend; a daughter, RaeGina Werth of 
Great Bend; a brother, Jerry Kern and wife Kayleen of Great Bend; a

Joyce Eileen Harris Buffington, 89, passed away April 24, 2021, at Pleasant View Home in Inman, KS. Joyce was born April 1932, in Marquette, KS, the daughter of Dale and Iola Harris. 

She was a graduate of Marquette High School.&nbsp;

Joyce married Don Buffington in 1950. They enjoyed an adventurous life together for 67 years while Don was a construction worker on flood control dams and the missile defense system, and later operated his own steel fabrication shops. After they retired, Joyce and Don moved to Little River, but spent winters in Truth or Consequences, NM in their RV. They became friends with fellow Midwest snowbirds who returned each year to TorC.&nbsp;

Joyce was proud to be a homemaker, raising three children. As the kids grew up, Joyce’s outgoing personality and love of people drew her to become a very successful Stanley Home Products representative. In addition, she excelled in department store sales.

Joyce was known as Grandma Joyce to her eight grandchildren, her nine great grandchildren and all their friends. Visits to Grandma Joyce’s house called for Swedish pancakes for breakfast, running through the sprinklers, learning to garden and mow the grass, crafts projects, fried chicken for dinner, and exploring the overflowing toy box of treasures. The grandkids were never allowed to be bored; Grandma Joyce always had fun suggestions to keep them busy. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed custom western shirts for Don. And she gave the best hugs in the world. Everyone was family to Joyce, and she never met a stranger. Her passing touched people from Canada to Brazil.

Survivors include her brother Gilbert (Gerda) Harris, Lawrence, KS; and her children: Marilyn (Gary) Cornell, Albuquerque, NM; Darrel (Fatima) Buffington, Evergreen, CO; Tricia (Mark) Cotton, Collinsville, OK.&nbsp; Grandma Joyce is survived by her grandchildren, Michelle (Danny) Bartel, Inman, KS; Ryan Cornell, Albuquerque, NM; Laura (Jeff) Stanley, Gunnison, CO; Kyle (Alex) Buffington, Pine, CO; Stacey (Kenny) Simmons, Arlington, VA; Eric Cotton, Collinsville, OK; Leah Johnson, Owasso, OK; Nikki O’Dell, Sapulpa, OK. Bonnie Mae (Swindaman) Burnette, 95, passed away at Hospice House in Hutchinson on April 25, 2021. She was born Feb. 5, 1926, at the family home near Nankin, Ohio. 

She graduated from Howard (KS) High School in 1944 and attended Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia) before accepting a position teaching 4th&nbsp;and then 3rd&nbsp;grade at Coldwater (KS) Elementary School.&nbsp; 

She married Burke Burnette in 1948, and their daughter Michaelyn was born in 1949. After a divorce, Bonnie and her daughter moved to Hutchinson, where Bonnie attended Adela Hale Business School. Bonnie worked for many years in the Industrial Engineering Department at Cessna. 

She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, and drinking coffee while talking with friends. She made Christmas very special with festive decorations and delicious meals; her sugar cookies will be much missed. She enjoyed playing with children; her face would light up when holding a baby or interacting with a child. She was always generous with help and forthright advice.

She was preceded in death by her parents W. C. Swindaman and Mildred (Tucker) Swindaman, brothers William, Robert and Dick Swindaman and sister Betty Morr. 

She is survived by her daughter Michaelyn Burnette, son-in-law Terry Tierney, grandson John Tierney, and nieces and nephews including Joyce Telakaowiz, Beverley Ebenshade, Connie Johnston, Bill and Bob Swindaman, Pat Swindaman, Lisa Thomison Ballout along with numerous great nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

Burial will be in Nankin (Orange) Cemetary, where she will rest by her parents.

Elizabeth married William Edward Nisly on April 29, 1956, and they shared 64 years of marriage before his death on Aug. 5, 2020. Together, they raised five children. Elizabeth was a lifelong homemaker and an active member of Cedar Crest Amish Mennonite Church and the surrounding community. Elizabeth’s life mission was to glorify God in service to those around her and she remained committed to that goal until her death. She had a special gift for hospitality and regularly welcomed others into her home for a meal and fellowship.

Elizabeth is survived by: her five children: Loretta (Arlis) Helmuth of Kalona, IA; Rosalie Nisly of Hutchinson, KS; Darrell (Kathryn) Nisly of Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Joanna (John) Riehl, and Eugene (Sharon) Nisly of Hutchinson, KS; 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; sister Laura Yutzy, sister-in-law: Alta Yutzy.

JoAnn Johnston, 92, of Hutchinson, died April 26, 2021, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Hutchinson, to Oscar and Georgia (Baxley) Moore.

JoAnn graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1946. She was a homemaker and a mother. JoAnn also worked as a teacher’s aide for a special education class for a time. While living in Texas she was active in her church, especially helping with bereavement dinners. JoAnn was also very talented at crocheting.

On March 20, 1949, she married Travis Johnston, in Hutchinson. They shared 65 years together before he passed away on June 5, 2014.

JoAnn is survived by daughter, Jean Gordon (Jim), Hutchinson; son, Jim Johnston (Charla), Spring Hill; daughter, Jill Osborn (Steve), St. Louis, Missouri; son, Joe Johnston (Beth), College Station, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Travis Johnston; daughter, Jane Johnston; and brother, Jim Moore.

Private family funeral service will be Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may watch the service on the Elliott Mortuary website beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 12p.m. on Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Ava Jane Campbell, 89, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Mt. Hope Nursing Home, Mt. Hope, KS. Ava was born July 7, 1931 in Eldorado, KS, the daughter of Theodore J and Lucy E. (Barnes) McAlister. 

In 1949, she graduated from Hutchinson High School and later received her Associates Degree from Hutchinson Community College. On June 7, 1977 she married Thomas J. Campbell in Enid, OK. To this union six children, Darrell, Doug, Beth, David, Julie and Dean. 

Ava worked in purchasing and sales for over 20 years. 

Ava is survived by her children, Darrell (Linda) Miller, Doug (Heather) Miller, Beth Miller (Les Wright), David (Deb) Miller, Julie (Scott) Welch, and Dean (Joan) Miller; three sisters, Georgia Maxwell, Judy Trimmell, and Kathy Maxwell; one brothers, Roy McAlister; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by his parents, her husband, Thomas; and a brother Jim McAlister.

Asher Joseph Smith, 21, passed away on Tuesday April 20, 2021 at his home in Nickerson, KS. He was born Nov. 25, 1999, also in his home, in South Hutchinson, to parents, Jacob and Joy Smith.

He graduated from Nickerson High School in 2018. He loved nothing more than "game night" with his brother Tyler and cousin Eli and his circle of other online friends. His cat, JJ, adored him almost as much as the rest of us that knew him.

We lost a Beautiful soul, Janice M. (Keller) Becker, 78, from earth 
into heaven. She was trapped in her body on earth with a very tough 
fight with dementia. She remained kind, happy, resolute and devoted to 
her husband and family through it all. A class act in sickness and in 
health. Such a wonderful role model for many. Humble and unselfish, 
always there for us when we needed her. She peacefully passed in her 
sleep, Sunday morning, April 25, 2021, at Showalter Villa, Hesston.

Born on December 16, 1942, the youngest and only girl to Charlie and 
Lucile (Duddy) Keller in Great Bend. She married her first and only 
love, Jerry Becker, June 20, 1960, in Seward. They were married for 59 
years.

Jan was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, business 
woman, cub scout leader, drum Corps mom, active church member of Holy 
Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson, Argonne Rebel director and former 
teacher at Holy Cross Catholic School in Hutchinson. She enjoyed camping
 and boating but especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include, her husband, Jerry Becker of the home; four 
children, Bradley Becker and wife Sandi of Great Bend, Gregory Becker 
and Michael Becker, both of Springfield, Mo., and Diane Grigg and 
husband Travis of Denton, Tex.; thirteen grandchildren, Zachary, Jordyn,
 Luke, Ryan, Lindsey, Malorie, Natalie, Matthew, Haley, Jace, Cole, 
Cannon, and Ainsley; and five great grandchildren. &nbsp;She was preceded in 
death by her parents; and three brothers, Norman Keller, Marvin Keller 
and Jim Keller.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021,
 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society rosary at 4:00 p.m. and 
Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at

Janice M. (Keller) Becker

Marjorie “Marge” (Bontrager) Friesen, 86, died on April 24, 2021 at her Newton residence.

Marge was born on December 12, 1934 at her great grandmother’s house in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Christopher and Viola (Hershberger) Bontrager.

She attended elementary school in a one room country school. She graduated from Iowa Mennonite High School in Kalona, Iowa. Following graduation Marge attended Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas.

On June 18, 1955, Marge was united in marriage to Marvin Zook, together they had three children, Steven, Monica and Rodney. The two later divorced.

On June 3, 1970 Marge married Elmer Friesen, becoming a second mother to his children, Cindi, David, Penny, and his step-daughter, Teresa.

For 30 years Marge worked in the mobile home industry, and for the last 8 years before retirement was a representative for Royal Supply in Wichita.

Marge was a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she served as local president for 2 years, treasurer for 10 years, district president for 1 year, state president for 1 year and the National council for 1 year. Marge was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Marge enjoyed helping and spent years volunteering in the Payee Program and delivering for Meals on Wheels. She was also an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Marge was a devoted member of St. Matthews Episcopal church where she graciously served as a Lector, an Usher, and was part of the Outreach Committee.

Marge is survived by her children, Steven Zook, Rodney (Debbie) Zook, David Friesen, Teresa Mischo, Cindi Woelk, and Penny (Andrew) Byers; grandchildren, Jennifer Baig (David Jabara), Ryan (Samantha) Cheatum, Carl (Kaycee) Cheatum, Kirk (Crystal) Koelzer, Todd (Cheryl) Hindman, Lesa (Jason) Camp, Zack (Isabelle) Mischo, Erin (Avery) Quintana, Deysia Johnson and Samuel Woelk; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Dane, Cailin and Alexis Mischo, Skyler and Mark Quintana, Jocelyn Baig, Noah Koelzer, Logan and Charlie Cheatum, Wyatt Cheatum, Chloe Hindeman, Robert, Penelope and Annabelle Camp and Leslie Grace Davis; sister-in-law, Gladene Bontrager; son-in-laws, Keith Graber &amp; Phillip Cheatum, and many nieces and nephews who are scattered but have kept touch over the years via Facebook.

Dorothy Mae (Stefan) Geschwentner, age 76, of Quinter, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born June 25, 1944, to Michael and Isabel (Scheck) Stefan in Hoxie, Kansas.&nbsp;

Dorothy graduated from Trego Community High School, and on February 10, 1964, she was united in marriage to Joseph Geschwentner at Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney, Kansas, and They were married for 55 years until his passing in January of 2020. Dorothy worked in housekeeping at Gove County Medical Center for over 23 years, as well as taking care of her home and family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, crafting, embroidery, camping, and taking good care of her great-granddaughter. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society and enjoyed serving her community.

Dorothy is survived by her&nbsp;son Dale Geschwentner of Hoxie, Kansas; daughter Kathy (Joe) Flora of Baldwin City, Kansas; grandchildren Ben (Jennifer) Flora of Georgetown, Texas, Ashley (Trevor) Mader of Gardner, Kansas, and Allie Heier of Quinter; great-grandchildren Avery Flora, Harper Heier, Weston Mader, Grace Flora, and Landon Mader; brothers Delbert (Mary) Stefan of Cimmaron, Kansas, Darrell Stefan of WaKeeney, Kansas, and Duane (Linda) Stefan of Hays, Kansas; sisters Delinda (Dale) Collmann of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Donna Stefan of WaKeeney.

Howard Lee Kempke, 86, of Marquette, KS, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.

Howard was born on April 29, 1934, in Ellsworth, KS, the sixth son of Robert John and Myrtle Ann (Beagley) Kempke. He graduated from Lorraine High School. On June 12, 1965, Howard was united in marriage to Marcene Louise Gridley in Topeka, KS.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, and then the U.S. Corp of Engineers at Kanopolis Lake, Marquette, KS.&nbsp; He enjoyed a green lawn, a clean car, coffee with the farmers, watching K-State sports and spending time with his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Marcene of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Matt Jacobs of Gardner, KS; grandsons, Dylan and Collin Jacobs of Gardner, KS; sister, Melva Howard of Milford, DE; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and five older brothers, Richard, Earl, Floyd, Robert, and Merle.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Marquette United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Marquette United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery, Marquette, KS.

Surrounded by her family, Edna Ruth Fowler, 91, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita. She was born July 1, 1929 on a farm near Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Victor and Gladys White.

Edna worked for Haven USD 312 for 14 years as the head cook at Haven High School. Upon retirement, she spent time loving on her grandkids and helping care for them.

On Edna’s third date with John Fowler, he told her that he was going to marry her. And he did just that on May 1, 1949 in Council Grove, Kansas. John and Edna shared nearly 71 years of marriage.

She was a 70-year member of Haven Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and social chair lady. She took an active role in assisting wherever she was needed in church activities. Edna served on the Haven Community Food Bank for many years as well as the Election Board. Her favorite pastime was being with her family, especially the grandchildren. Her wonderful sense of humor kept the entire family entertained and her kindness showed them that they were always loved. Edna was highly respected by all of her relatives and will be greatly missed.

Edna is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Vic) Edwards of Hutchinson, Susan (Les) Banman of Haven, and Merri (Phillip) Reece of Haven; eight grandchildren Dr. Derek (Natalie) Long of Maumelle, Arkansas, Leah (Mike) Winkler of Hutchinson, Matt (Brooke) Stewart of Lawrence, Ryan Stewart of Haven, Zac (Lindsay) Reece of Louisville, Kentucky,&nbsp; Abbi (Ian) Arndt of Haven, Dr. Jed (Katie) Reece of Andale, and Isaiah (Shea) Reece of Springfield, Missouri;15 great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Wayne) Gossett of Pratt; sisters-in-law, Gladys Dodds of South Hutchinson and Jo Shuyler of Valley Center; and several nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; sisters, Marie Holscher, Bonnie Gardner, and Betty Jean White; and brothers, Orland White, Raymond White, and Leonard White.

A memorial service honoring both John and Edna will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Haven Baptist Church, Haven. Burial will follow at Laurel Cemetery. Nancy L. McConnell, 67, died April 19, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Nov. 12, 1953, in Larned, to Kenneth E. McConnell and Margaret “Yvonne” (Mammel) McConnell Josephson.

Nancy retired from the Hutchinson Clinic Human Resources Department, after 40 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, and LOVED to play golf. But, Nancy’s most cherished time was that spent with her family; family was everything to Nancy.

Nancy is survived by:&nbsp; her mom, Margaret “Yvonne” Josephson; sister, Sandra “Sandy” Zwick (Gary); nieces, Michelle and Barbie; great-nieces, Sage and Tori; adopted sister, Sabrina McConnell Rahe; stepbrothers, Jeff Josephson (Doris) and Jerry Josephson (Vicki); and a host of friends.

Janet Mariam (Woodall) Heitmann, 87, died April 21, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Lester and Maurene (Concannon) Woodall.

Janet graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, singing, and attending musicals and concerts. Janet enjoyed being a homemaker, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, Mom, Nana, GGma, and sister. Janet was a member of Unity Church of Wichita. &nbsp;

On Dec. 26, 1952, she married Dan D. Heitmann, in Hutchinson. They shared over 68 years of marriage.

Janet is survived by: her husband, Dan, of Hutchinson; children, Deb Sutton (Mike), of Fort Collins, CO, Bob Heitmann (Amanda), of Edwards, CO, Jill Norcross (Kelly), of Overland Park, KS, and Amy Hodges (Dee), of Severance, CO; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Barb Spicer, Karen Foyle, and Linda Ging.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Dick Woodall.

Letha Elinor Noblitt, 93, passed away April 24, 2021, at her home. She was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Hutchinson, to Edward J. and Ethel A. (Chase) Barnes.

Letha was a 1945 graduate of Buhler High School. She worked many years as a circulation clerk at the Hutchinson News and Hutchinson News Credit Union. Letha was an avid golfer, bowler, and swimmer. She was a member of the Kansas Women’s Golf Association, Women’s Bowling Association, and Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On Jan. 12, 1957, Letha married Dwight W. Noblitt, in Hutchinson. They shared over 42 years of marriage, prior to his death on April 1, 2000.

She is survived by: children, Ed (Katy) Field of Topeka, and Cindy Ortego of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Valerie (Curtis) Wilhelmson, Jason (Morgan) Field, Travis (Janet) Ortego, and Terra (Chris) Lock; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Letha was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, Randall Field; stepdaughters, Dorothy McCandless and Carol Krogstad; four brothers; and one sister.

&nbsp;Jerry Leroy Corkins,&nbsp;of Waterford, MI passed away April 15, 2021 at 84 years of age. Born Sept. 18, 1936 in Tyrone, Oklahoma; son of the late Bernise Lee and Elizabeth Corkins (nee Hamilton); beloved husband of Elaine Marie Corkins (nee Johnson) for 61 wonderful years; cherished father of Sheryl (Ken) Hermanson, Lori Corkins, Kay Corkins, Raymond Corkins and Anthony Corkins; loving grandfather of six and great grandfather of five; Jerry is survived by brother Dale (Claudine) Corkins and is preceded in death by siblings: Faye Clark, May Oxenreider, Marie Clark, Gary Corkins and Bobby Corkins; dearest uncle to many nieces and nephews.

After high school Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic. He continued his education and received an associate’s degree at Oakland Community College. He retired after working over 30 years at General Motors. 

Jerry was a man of faith who attended St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Waterford, along with his wife Elaine. He was active in his community in the Knights of Columbus and in his free time, he enjoyed painting. Jerry will be deeply missed by his family, friends and community.

Deena Legg passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021 in Pratt, KS. She was born in Salina, KS. on Jan. 15, 1953 to Vernon and Elizabeth Hooper. 

Deena was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Rozalind Greever. 

She is survived by her brothers, Richard Hooper and his wife Glenda of Hutchinson, KS. and Jason Hooper and his wife Jennifer of Gilberts, IL.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Deena will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed. No services will be held per her request. Hutchinson Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert James Graham, Sr., of Goessel, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge. He was born Nov. 21, 1938 to Levi and May (Kerr) Graham in Denison, Iowa.

On June 12, 1965, Robert married Norma Allsup at Oskaloosa, Iowa.

He got his GED and attended Vennard College in University Park, IA for one year. Over the years, he worked many different jobs, but mostly was an over the road truck driver. Robert was a Christian who loved the Lord and enjoyed telling the story of how God saved him. He was always full of stories about his life and never ceased to amaze us with how good his memory was! He enjoyed driving, gardening, spending time with his family, and puttering around in his shop fixing things.

Robert is survived by his wife, Norma; two sons, Robert Graham Jr. and his wife, Sheri, of Moundridge, and Timothy Graham and his wife, Michelle, of Wichita; two sisters, Cathy Minniear and Diane Graham, both of Ochelata, Oklahoma; and six grandchildren, Sarah, Robert, Timmy, Jonathan, Rachel and Wesley Graham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and May Graham; and three sisters, Thelma Rabb, Lucy Gantt, and Ellen Solomon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Moundridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 23, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, PO Box 410, Moundridge, Kansas 67107.

Russell Homer Ackerman, Jr., 63, of Burrton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home.&nbsp; He was born May 22, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Russell Homer Sr. and Winona (Sines) Ackerman.

Russell served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979, attaining the rank of Senior Airman.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jacobsen on Nov. 17, 2001 at Waukegan, Illinois.

Russell was self-employed, specializing in computer networking.&nbsp; He also worked as a pastor.

He enjoyed shooting, working on cars and spending time with his family.&nbsp; Russell attended Burrton Community Church, Burrton.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ackerman of Burrton; children, Robert Knee of Greenville, Illinois, Nicholas Knee of Pocahontas, Illinois, Melina Ackerman, Mekenzie Ackerman, Madison Ackerman, Joshua Ackerman, Danielle Ackerman, Kira Ackerman and Miranda Ackerman, all of Burrton, and Julie Ackerman.

Russell was preceded in death by his mother, Winona Ackerman.

Harvey D. Nisly, 88, of Hutchinson, died April 20, 2021, at his home. He was born on March 29, 1933, in Hutchinson, to Daniel and Lizzie (Borntrager) Nisly.

Harvey was God’s faithful servant for many years. He was heavily involved with prison ministry and other outreach organizations that would lead people to Jesus. Harvey was a devoted father and husband who loved Jesus above all else. He was determined to show Gods love to his children and grandchildren and prayed for their salvation and led by example. Harvey enjoyed cooking meals for people in need and often invited people over for dinner and supper. He had a servant’s heart and enjoyed blessing others with the gifts that God had given him.&nbsp;Harvey was a dairy farmer and continued his own garden for many years after he stopped farming. He was especially known for his tomatoes. Harvey was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church. &nbsp;

On March 12, 1954, he married Edna W. Miller, in Hutchinson. They shared 52 years of marriage before she passed away on Feb. 26, 2007.

Harvey is survived by: daughters, Sharon Thacker (Larry), Hutchinson, Emma Nisly, Cass Lake, MN; son, Clayton Nisly (Jennifer), Abbyville; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Anna Coblentz, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Edna Nisly; brothers, Perry, Mahlon, Sam, and Roman Nisly; and sisters, Fannie Helmuth, Clara, Barbara, and Mandy Nisly.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7411 W. Morgan, Hutchinson, with pastors Dwight Miller, LaVerne Miller, and Julian Nisly officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Center Amish Mennonite Church.

Madlyn Kay Valgren, 80, died April 19, 2021, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born July 23, 1940, in Dodge City, to Ray and Elizabeth (Houser) Wingert.

In addition to being a homemaker, Madlyn worked in the cafeteria at Cessna. She loved embroidery and enjoyed bargain shopping at thrift stores, flea markets, and estate sales. Madlyn adored butterflies, hummingbirds, and her ‘fur babies’. She was a member of The Father’s House, Hutchinson.

On May 9, 1959, Madlyn married Donald L. Valgren, in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage before his death on October 24, 2009.

She is survived by: children, Cindy Ewing, of Nixa, MO, Johnny Valgren (Joann), of Fort Worth, TX, Linda Peters, of Wichita; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Wagner, Gerald Wingert (Saundra), Barry Wingert (Stormy), all of Hutchinson; and numerous extended family members.
