Maynard Reed Krehbiel, 85, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020 at Pine Village. He was born Nov. 8, 1935 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Edwin and Della (Goering) Krehbiel.

He was a member of Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge.

Maynard was a farmer and rancher and was one of the last true cowboys.&nbsp; He was a draft horse enthusiast and lover of history. Maynard often described himself as a tiller of the earth.

He was united in marriage to Marlene Joy Stucky on Aug. 20, 1954 at Eden Mennonite Church. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2020.

Survivors include his children, Gail Graber of Moundridge, Wesley (Sheryl) Krehbiel of McPherson, Jennifer (Bob) Schrag of Galva, and Clinton (Shelly) Krehbiel of Lincoln, Nebraska; ten grandchildren, Travis (Penny) Graber of Wamego, Nathan (Krista) Graber of Newton, Joseph (Heather) Krehbiel of Marquette, William Krehbiel of McPherson, Mary Schrag of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth (George) Wipf of Mitchell, Manitoba, Canada, Ben Schrag of Galva, Madison (Devin) Dixon of Houston, Texas, Megan (Andrew) Johnson of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Emma Krehbiel of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brody, Elaina, Peter, Daniel, Hudson, Everette, and Liam; and brother, Ron (Nancy) Krehbiel of Burrton.

Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlene Krehbiel; brother, Bob Krehbiel; and son-in-law, Ardy Graber.

Private family services will be held at Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 at Moundridge Funeral Home. Due to state mandates and the serious nature of COVID-19, the family requests friends that want to pay their respects to Maynard and his family may do so by a drive by viewing at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 31, on the west side of Eden Mennonite Church. The service for Fern Wingert has been changed to a private family graveside service.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Fern's family encourages everyone to stay safe.

Fern Wingert, 91, died Dec.22, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; She was born March 7, 1929, in rural Reno County, to Alfred and Elizabeth (Williams) Darnell.

Fern graduated from Nickerson High School in 1947. After 22 years of service, she retired as an executive secretary from Dillon Companies.&nbsp; Fern loved to play the piano and organ, and listen to George Strait. Her love for music was second though to Fern’s love for her grandchildren; they were her life. She was a doting grandmother, and would move heaven and earth for her five grandchildren. Fern was a member of Park Place Christian Church for over 40 years.

On February 21, 1959, she married Bob Wingert. He died July 20, 1997, after 38 years of marriage.

Fern is survived by sons, Brad Wingert (Kathy) of Hutchinson, and Greg Wingert (Jana) of Topeka; grandsons, Elliot Wingert (Naomi), Peyton Wingert (Ellie), Jackson Wingert, and Sam Wingert; granddaughter, Claire Wingert; great-granddaughter, Virginia Wingert; and great-grandson, Mr. Brooks Wingert (scheduled to arrive in Jan.); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and six sisters.&nbsp; Fern was the last living child of Alfred and Elizabeth.

Private funeral service for family will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, with The Reverend Dr. David Dubovich officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Barbara Nisly Yoder, 99, of Partridge, KS died in her home on Dec. 27, 2020. She was born on Feb. 12, 1921, to Levi and Mary Bontrager Nisly.

On November 25, 1948 she married Alvin Chriss Yoder. 

Survivors include a brother Raymond Nisly, her six children and spouses: Emma Lois Yoder, Oren and (Joanna) Yoder, Ernest and (Mary) Yoder, Rachel and (Ron) Bontrager, Marietta Yoder and Frieda Yoder, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A graveside service and burial will be held Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at the West Center Cemetery.

Wayland Slabach, 90, formerly of Windom, died Dec. 24, 2020. He was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Leo Kelly and Dorothy Anna (Wilke) Slabach.

Wayland graduated from Inman High School in 1949, and was a lifelong farmer. Wayland enjoyed bowling at The Alley, and was a member of Hope Church, Hutchinson (formerly First Assembly of God Church).

Wayland is survived by sister, Marilyn Christner of Hutchinson; nieces and nephews, Mike Christner of Indiana, Rex Christner (Terry) of Hutchinson, Keith Christner (Julie) of Garden City, Jay Christner (Donna) of Augusta, Kathy Carroll (Jamie), and Cindy Adcock (Jeremy), all of Hutchinson.

Arlys Anita Kraus, 79, of Hutchinson, died Dec. 23, 2020, at Hospice House. She was born March 17, 1941, in Protection, to Albert B. and Marjorie E. (DeMoss) Holler.

Arlys graduated from Protection High School and Wichita Business College. She was a homemaker. Arlys lived in Phoenix, AZ, for 35 years before moving to Hutchinson. She was a resident of Legend Senior Living for the past five years and absolutely loved living there. Arlys’ greatest joys in life were her family and her relationship with Christ. She was a member of CrossPoint Church.

On October 16, 1960, Arlys married Robert D. Hopkins. They divorced after 17 years of marriage. On Aug. 31, 1984, she married William E. ‘Bill’ Kraus. He died May 12, 2015.

Arlys is survived by her mother, Marjorie Holler, Hutchinson; children, Robin Sanders (Sam), Hutchinson, Allen Hopkins (Margaret), Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren, Stephanie Doeden (Shawn), Ben Sanders (Amelia), Joey Sanders, (Erin), Sammy Sanders (Ceress), Robert and Nash Hopkins; 6 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Donna James; twin brother, Arlyn Holler, and brother, Gerald Holler.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in McPherson City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.

Daniel ‘Dan’ Richard Jones, 81, passed away Dec. 22, 2020, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie. He was born Dec. 2, 1939, in Harper, to Richard H. and Gail C. (Railsback) Jones.

Dan was a 1957 graduate of Birmingham High School, Los Angeles, CA.&nbsp; He attended Pierce Junior College, Los Angeles, CA. Dan served in the United States Army from May 1959 to February 1965, and was stationed in Korea for two years. He was an excellent welder, a farmer, and an employee of Reno County for several years. Dan was of the Baptist faith.

On July 6, 1962, he married ChongSuk ‘Cookie’ Pak, in Seoul, Korea. They shared over 56 years of marriage, prior to her death on January 20, 2019.

Dan is survived by his brother, Douglas (Darlene) Jones of Green Valley, AZ; and nephew, Dale Jones of California.

Private burial has taken place. A graveside service will be held next spring, and will be announced by Elliott Mortuary. Fort Riley Honor Guard will conduct military honors at that time.&nbsp;

Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, through Thursday, Dec. 31, at Elliott Mortuary.

Mary Buckman, 91, passed away Dec. 24, 2020, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born July 4, 1929, in Scott City, to George Edward and Ida Ethel (Baker) Logan.

Mary was the valedictorian of the 1947 graduating class of St. John High School, St. John. She, along with her husband, Randall, owned and operated R &amp; M Paint &amp; Upholstery, Geneseo, for 20 years. In 1975, Mary and her husband went to work at Collins Industries, South Hutchinson, where she headed up the Upholstery Department for 20 years.

She met Randall Buckman in 1951. Following a long distance courtship by mail, they married February 8, 1953, just days after he was discharged from the United States Army. They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to his death on June 15, 2013.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Gerry) Poepperling of Buhler, and Cheryl (Glenn) Field of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister.

Cremation has taken place. Public memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Lyle Hinsdale officiating. Mary Ethel Buckman | 1929 - 2020 |

Joyce Anne Preston, 92, of Marquette, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Riverview Estates, Marquette. She was a retired caregiver for the elderly.

She was born September 24, 1928 in Miami, Texas, the daughter of John Oliver “Ollie” and Mary Louise (Wining) Gee. She married Robert J. Clouatre and they were the parents of four children, Roberta, James, Anthony and Joseph. They later divorced.&nbsp; Joyce's life was dedicated to her children and taking care of the elderly in their own homes.&nbsp; She was an avid writer and had some of her works published. Joyce was a quiet woman with a loving heart.&nbsp; She will be missed greatly by her family and dear friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Roberta Wann and husband, Jim of McPherson; three sons, James Clouatre and Anthony Clouatre, Marquette and Joseph Clouatre of McPherson; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A grandson, Chris Wann, two brothers, Kenneth and William Gee and two sisters, Bena Janke and Lois Haas, preceded her in death.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Canton Township Cemetery. A memorial has been established with Riverview Estates, Marquette, in care of Olson’s Mortuary, Canton.

Joyce Anne Preston, 92, of Marquette, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Riverview Estates, Marquette. She was a retired caregiver for the elderly.She was born September 24, 1928 in Miami, Texas, the daughter of John Oliver “Ollie” and Mary Louise (Wining) Gee. She married Robert J. Clouatre and they were the parents of four children, Roberta, James, Anthony and Joseph. They later divorced.&nbsp; Joyce's life was dedicated to her children and taking care of the elderly in their own homes.&nbsp; She was an avid writer and had some of her works published. Joyce was a quiet woman with a loving heart.&nbsp; She will be missed greatly by her family and dear friends.Survivors include her daughter, Roberta Wann and husband, Jim of McPherson; three sons, James Clouatre and Anthony Clouatre, Marquette and Joseph Clouatre of McPherson; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A grandson, Chris Wann, two brothers, Kenneth and William Gee and two sisters, Bena Janke and Lois Haas, preceded her in death.A private family graveside service will be held at the Canton Township Cemetery. Anna Laura Johnson, 89, was born November 9, 1931, in Windom, Kansas. She was the fifth of seven children born to John S. And Helen (Regier) Pauls. She passed away December 21, 2020, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas, where she had lived the last ten years of her life.

She attended Windom and Turkey Creek schools as a child, and graduated from McPherson High School in 1959, at the age of 28, due to a battle with polio that kept her out of school for several years.

She married Everett Johnson on July 15, 1962. They met on a blind date and were married for 58 years. &nbsp;To this union were born two children: Randi Jean and Jane Ann.

Anna worked at the McPherson Courthouse for several years and retired from Bethany Home after 18 years of service there. She later moved into Bethany Home in 2011 as a resident.

Anna loved playing her harmonica and Chinese Checkers and her cats. She enjoyed singing old hymns. Some of her favorites were “Honey in the Rock,” “Lily of the Valley,” and “Bringing in the Sheaves.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, Verdalee Francz, Irene Pauls, Nelda Becker, Elvina Pauls, Harvey Pauls, and Virginia Rahn.

She is survived by her husband, Everett, her two daughters, Randi Gifford and Jane Yount (husband Greg), four grandchildren: Lisa (husband Damon) Sewell, Matthew, Joshua, and Andrea Yount, as well as two great grandchildren, Elijah and Lilyanna Sewell.

Anna loved Jesus and is in Heaven with Him now. She will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank Bethany Home and Kindred Hospice for their exceptional and loving care for Anna to the day of her death.

David Lee Friesen, 75, of Partridge, died December 20, 2020, at his home. He was born November 9, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Leonard and Mildred (Nickel) Friesen.

David graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1963. He then served in the United States Army as a military police officer. David belonged to the Central Kansas Corvette Association and Pretty Prairie Saddle Club. He loved fishing, noodling, hunting, especially coyotes, and visiting the casino.

He is survived by daughters, Cari and Traci Friesen; companion, Georgia Hardesty; step son, Rob Mattox; brother, Mark ‘Butch’ Friesen; grandchildren, Bailee Weilert, Taylor Friesen, Huntter Friesen, Shayla Brown, Brynlee Brown, Cailyn O'Neal, Brayden O'Neal; great-grandchildren, Payton Friesen and Jaxton Cooper, all of Hutchinson.

David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Larry Friesen; and grandson, Jakob Dakota Kinney.

Shirley Ann Mounce, 84, died Dec. 19, 2020, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, KS.&nbsp; She was born March 7, 1936, in Pratt, KS, the daughter of Renne W. &amp; Bertha Maude (Zeller) Slover. 

Shirley was a waitress, worked at Doskocils and was a nurse aide, working at Mennonite Manor and Wesley Towers.

She is survived by sons, Mark and&nbsp; Randy (Cindy) Mounce, both of Hutchinson; daughter, Cheryl Clapper, Hutchinson; sisters, Carol Sweeney and Jean Olson, both of Wichita; brothers, Robert Slover, Wichita and Gerald Slover, Florida; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Larry Phillip Rayl, 84, passed away December 19, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born October 28, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Levi and Carolyn (DeBruler) Rayl.

Larry graduated from Hutchinson High School, and immediately began working as a meat cutter at Jackson Meat, Hutchinson, retiring with 51 years of service. He soon realized that he was not ready to retire, and went to work for 15 years at T &amp; W Meat Company, Kingman. Larry was a member of the Prairie Pups Motorcycle Club and Salt City Cruisers Car Club.&nbsp;

He enjoyed tinkering in his shop, woodworking, and restoring vehicles, such as his 1970 Cobra Torino and 1974 Ford pickup. Larry was a people person, and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed life, and he loved doing things with his family, such as dune buggy outings, and attending family celebrations and activities. Larry was known as ‘Mr. Fix-It’, but the titles that he cherished the most were husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

On September 24, 1961, he married Deloris Seabolt in Moscow, KS. They shared over 59 years of marriage.

Larry is survived by his wife, Deloris Rayl of Hutchinson; children, Renee (Rick) Ewert of Wichita, and Brent (Kerry) Rayl of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Rebecca&nbsp; (Josh) Albert, Cooper Ewert, Chris Wiens, and Caleb (Elizabeth Miller) Rayl; great-granddaughter, Agitha Rayl; and sister, Shelley Holroyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Edward Rayl.

Myrna Faye Jordan, 78, passed away December 22, 2020, in Hutchinson. She was born July 1, 1942, in Wichita.

Myrna was a graduate of Buhler High School. She worked as a machinist at Cessna/Eaton in Hutchinson, retiring after 31 years of service. During Myrna’s employment, she was an active union member. After retirement, Myrna enjoyed volunteering at the Elmdale Community Center as a member of the ‘Crochet Angels’.&nbsp;

On December 8, 1960, Myrna married Vic Jordan, whom she met at Buhler High School. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her husband, Vic Jordan of Hutchinson; children, Tammy (Tim) Heidebrecht of Hutchinson, and Steve Jordan of Marquette; grandchildren, Lauren (Omar) Alvidrez, Ashley Heidebrecht, and Chevie Kinast; and great-grandchildren, Emily Alvidrez and Ryan Alvidrez.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Viola Pauline (Miller) Millet and Ervin Millet.

Nancy M. (Whalen) Sherman was born in Hutchinson, KS on August 16, 1938 and died December 13, 2020 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. 

She was the daughter of Jane Anna Butler and Edward Joseph Whalen. Nancy graduated from Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Junior College. She attended the University of Kansas before her marriage to Charles Thomas “Tom” Sherman on August 6, 1959. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1991. She worked in the records office at Hutchinson Community College for many years and was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Nancy moved to Wichita in September of 2011 and resided at Via Christi Village Ridge until her death. She enjoyed following her grandchildren in their school and sports activities. She was a die hard KU fan. She enjoyed traveling, with her favorite destination being Hawaii. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, brother Tim Whalen, and sister Mary Lou Griffin. Survivors include daughters Susan Reazin (Keith) of Wichita, Betsy Sherman of Falls Church, VA, grandchildren Erin, Sean, Caitlin, and Connor Reazin, sister Jane Miller and brother Pat Whalen of Hutchinson, and sister Anne Whalen (Don Goertz) of Joplin, MO. Alan L. Dietz, known to most as Al, passed away on December 8, 2020. Alan was born June 29, 1941, the son of Valdean and Dorothy Dietz. 

 He grew up in rural Sterling and lived on the family farm.&nbsp;He was a veteran, a farmer and collector of vintage cars.

Alan has been cremated and there will be no services.  Please bestow memorials to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettles.

John Jay Ankerholz, 88, passed away December 18, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born August 23, 1932, in Plevna, to John Otto and Flossie Mae (Baker) Ankerholz.

Jay was a 1950 graduate of Nickerson Rural High School. He worked as the warehouse manager at Montgomery Ward, Hutchinson, retiring with more than 28 years of service. After retiring from Montgomery Ward, Jay went to work at Doskocil Food Service Company, South Hutchinson. He was an antique and a depression glass collector and dealer. Jay was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

On May 18, 1952, he married Doris Jean Risley, in Nickerson. They shared over 57 years of marriage, prior to her death on October 4, 2009.

Jay is survived by his children, Debbie (Larry) Smith of Protection, Steve (Teresa) Ankerholz of Lyons, and Kelli (Dan) Petz of South Hutchinson;&nbsp; grandchildren, Jared Petz, Ben (Rachel) Ankerholz, Jesse (Andrea) Ankerholz, Jena Woods, J.D. (Shannon) Smith, Ty (Jessica) Smith; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two sisters.

He was born August 23, 1932, in Plevna, to John Otto and Flossie Mae (Baker) Ankerholz.Jay was a 1950 graduate of Nickerson Rural High School. He worked as the warehouse manager at Montgomery Ward, Hutchinson, retiring with more than 28 years of service. After retiring from Montgomery Ward, Jay went to work at Doskocil Food Service Company, South Hutchinson. He was an antique and a depression glass collector and dealer. Jay was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.On May 18, 1952, he married Doris Jean Risley, in Nickerson. They shared over 57 years of marriage, prior to her death on October 4, 2009.Jay is survived by his children, Debbie (Larry) Smith of Protection, Steve (Teresa) Ankerholz of Lyons, and Kelli (Dan) Petz of South Hutchinson;&nbsp; grandchildren, Jared Petz, Ben (Rachel) Ankerholz, Jesse (Andrea) Ankerholz, Jena Woods, J.D. Marjorie “Marj” Mugler, 86, died peacefully on December 18, 2020, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born November 20, 1934, in Longford, to Matthew and Opal (Oard) Heigele.

She married Martin Mugler on June 19, 1955. They were married 47 years, prior to his passing on May 15, 2003. They had four children: Connie, Marla, Gary and Karen. Marj’s life centered on family and she enjoyed being a full-time homemaker, happily living in the same home for 51 years, and was a part-time florist. Marj enjoyed crafting, sewing, being outside in nature with her flowers and the birds, and watching sporting events on TV. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Martin.

Marj is survived by: her sister, Janice Harrington, Gardner; children, Connie Nuss (Tony), Chanhassen, MN, Marla Eriksen (Jeff), Hutchinson, Gary Mugler (Roberta), Gypsum, Karen Frizell (Jeff), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Emily Nuss Lazar (Joe), Minneapolis, MN, Michael Nuss (Lindsey Alinder), Minneapolis, MN, Whitney Eriksen Chang (Ken), Fairway, Kelsey Eriksen Barnes (Jim), Lawrence, Lindsey Eriksen Leslie (Matthew), Lawrence, Garett Mugler (Kelsey), Concordia, Mitch Mugler, Manhattan, Max Graber (Josie Taylor), Windsor, CO, Madi Graber Smith (Garrett), Roeland Park; and great-grandchildren, Joey, Audrey, and Leah Lazar, Taytum, Braylee, and Gavin Mugler, Nora and Dawson Chang, Miles Barnes, and Henry Leslie.

Michael Eugene Ruzich, 73, died December 18, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1947, in Hutchinson, to Anthony “Tony” and Geraldine Lois (Burns) Ruzich.&nbsp;

Michael graduated from Hutchinson High School, and served in the United States Army Reserve. In 1972, Michael left Hutchinson after working at Cain Shoe Company. He continued to work in sales throughout his career and life, moving to St. Louis, New York City, then west to California, to name just a few.&nbsp; Michael finally settled in Dallas, TX.

In 2008, he returned to Hutchinson to reconnect with old friends and be closer to family. Throughout his life, Michael was blessed with family and friends.&nbsp; His charm and self-confidence drew people to him, and he welcomed time spent and conversations with others.&nbsp;

Michael is survived by his two sisters, Patricia Lenore Ruzich and Linda Marie Ruzich, both of Wichita, and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.&nbsp;

Andrew ‘Andy’ D. &nbsp;Shultz, 75, died Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Castleton. He was born May 14, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Harold E. and Iris (Magers) Shultz.

He was a 1963 graduate of Buhler High School, an Army veteran serving in Thailand, and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

In 1995, Andrew retired as supervisor from Dillons Bakery with 33 years of service. He continued working in heating and air conditioning for a number of years.

Woodworking was his favorite pastime; it included making countless wooden &nbsp;toys that were shared with many people.

In October of this year, Andrew and Paulette moved to South Hutchinson.

On November 25, 1967, he married Paulette Francis Droste, in Marienthal. Paulette, his wife of 53 years survives.

Also surviving are children, Rhonda Renken and husband Terry of Little River, and Chad and wife Jennifer of Kingman; twin brothers, Mark and wife Joanne, and Clark and wife Carolyn, all of Wichita; seven grandchildren, Tevin Renken and wife Chloe of Kansas City, MO, Mariah Buie and husband Derrike of Castleton, Melanie Renken, Mekenzie Renken, and Logan Renken of Little River, Blake Shultz and Cara Shultz of Kingman; great-granddaughter, Emerysn Buie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Karl, and Harold L. and wife Eileen; and twin sister, AnDella Showalter.

Parish rosary will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, followed by funeral mass at 11 a.m., with Father Charles Siewert officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Castleton.

Emmett Everett Allen, 81, died December 19, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 14, 1939, in Hutchinson, to Lloyd and Elva (Carpenter) Allen.

Emmett graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1957. He was a self-employed business owner and salesman. Emmett enjoyed selling any type of Western wear and collectibles, and owned Allen’s Café in South Hutchinson, along with his wife, Judy, for many years.

On April 16, 1960, he married Judy Gookins, in Hutchinson. They shared over 60 years of marriage.

Emmett is survived by his wife, Judy of Hutchinson; daughters, Amy Foster (Mike) of Sterling, Jennifer Allen of Houston, TX; grandsons, Brett Foster (Amy) of Andover, and Andrew Foster of Wichita; granddaughter, Mollie Foster of Park Ridge, IL; and great-grandsons, Paxton and Brady Foster of Andover.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Allen; and sister, Sheryl Allen.

Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held.&nbsp;

John worked as a general laborer &amp; mechanic. &nbsp;He lived in Osborne all his life.

Wanda Pauline (Clough) Nickels Witt, 98, died Dec. 18, 2020, at 
Sterling Presbyterian Manor, Sterling.&nbsp; She was born Oct. 9, 1922, in 
Lerado, to David Everett and Allie (Lawson) Clough.&nbsp; Wanda married 
Leonard Nickels Sept. 27, 1941, at the Lerado United Methodist Church, 
Lerado.&nbsp; Leonard died Aug. 26, 1975.&nbsp; She then married Arthur Witt Jan. 
20, 1979, at the Claflin United Methodist Church, Claflin.&nbsp; Arthur died 
Nov. 3, 2004.

A 1940 valedictorian graduate of Langdon High School, Wanda continued
 her education at Hutchinson Community College, Wichita State 
University, Kansas State University, then graduating from Sterling 
College and Emporia State University, receiving her Masters degree in 
Library Science.

Wanda, a long-time resident of Claflin, moved to Alden July, 2019, 
being blessed to live in the home in which she had designed at the age 
of 96.&nbsp; She was the librarian for the Little River School District, and 
then moved to Claflin where she was librarian for the Claflin School 
District.&nbsp; Wanda was a member of the Claflin United Methodist Church, 
United Methodist Women, TOPS, and Delta Kappa Gamma.&nbsp; She enjoyed 
reading, gardening, sewing, quilting and traveling.

Survivors include one son, Jim Nickels and wife Barb of Hutchinson; 
two daughters, Judith Ray of Alden and Janelle Bennett and husband Craig
 of Alden; grandchildren, Scott Nickels of Wichita, Jeremy Bennett 
(Bridgette) of Sterling, Jaime Howard (Lindy) of Alden, Joel Bennet 
(Madyson) of Hutchinson, Jill Wilson (Cullan) of Pratt; and numerous 
great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.&nbsp; She was preceded in
 death by husbands, Leonard Nickels and Arthur Witt; son-in-law, Robert 
Ray; two brothers, Otis Clough and Vernon Clough; and one sister, Wilma 
Fulks.

Wanda Pauline (Clough) Nickels Witt

Galen Keith Froese, 77, of Buhler, died December 18, 2020, at Pleasant View Home in Inman. He was born June 19, 1943, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Harold and Adeline (Pauls) Froese.

Galen graduated from Buhler High School in 1961 and completed his two years of 1W service in Denver, Colorado. Galen spent a number of years working together with his father in his masonry business before taking on the business himself and spending quite a few years designing and building numerous fireplaces and other brick and stone structures. As this work began to take a toll on him physically, Galen ventured into various jobs, including selling wood-burning stoves and even driving for UPS, before landing at Inman Irrigation, where he developed the turf division and sold traveling sprinkler systems. He eventually bought out this division and moved on privately for the remainder of his career.

Galen was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in Inman, KS, where he served in numerous positions, including usher and trustee. Galen enjoyed collecting John Deere toys, working outdoors, and finding a way to provide everything his family ever needed.

On October 6, 1967, Galen married Fern Ella Doerksen in Inman. They shared 53 years together.

He is survived by wife, Fern; children, Greg Froese (Lisa), Keri Maurer (Bill), both of Inman, and Angie Plett (Dustin), Sterling; grandchildren, Emma, Garrett, and Morgan Froese; Lauren and Sydney Maurer; and Rylie and Kynli Plett; as well as sister, Carnie Verrelli (Terry), New Wilmington, PA.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family service will be live streamed at&nbsp;<a href="http://www.bethelinman.org/">www.bethelinman.org</a>&nbsp;at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020. A Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m., open to the public, at Buhler East Cemetery, 5 miles east of Buhler. Please feel free to bring a chair.&nbsp; Viewing will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Buhler Mortuary. Family will not be present.  </figure>Galen Keith Froese, 77, of Buhler, died December 18, 2020, at Pleasant View Home in Inman. He was born June 19, 1943, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Harold and Adeline (Pauls) Froese.Galen graduated from Buhler High School in 1961 and completed his two years of 1W service in Denver, Colorado. Galen spent a number of years working together with his father in his masonry business before taking on the business himself and spending quite a few years designing and building numerous fireplaces and other brick and stone structures. As this work began to take a toll on him physically, Galen ventured into various jobs, including selling wood-burning stoves and even driving for UPS, before landing at Inman Irrigation, where he developed the turf division and sold traveling sprinkler systems. He eventually bought out this division and moved on privately for the remainder of his career.Galen was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in Inman, KS, where he served in numerous positions, including usher and trustee. Galen enjoyed collecting John Deere toys, working outdoors, and finding a way to provide everything his family ever needed.On October 6, 1967, Galen married Fern Ella Doerksen in Inman.
