Gerald ‘Jerry’ Arlan McInturff, 89, passed away Feb. 20, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Edward Eugene and Stella (Lewis) McInturff.

Jerry graduated from Hutchinson High School and served in the United States Navy. He was employed at Hutchinson News as a pressman, retiring with over 30 years of service. Jerry was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.&nbsp;

He was a golf enthusiast. Jerry enjoyed playing golf and watching golf on television. He could also be found out drowning a worm at his favorite fishing hole.

On July 5, 1953, Jerry married Virginia Lee Kline, at the First United Methodist Church, Dodge City. They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to her death on April 11, 2014.

He is survived by his children, Brad McInturff of Buhler, Sheri (Kory) Jowers of Hutchinson, and Todd McInturff of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and companion, Judy Hill.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Ronnie McInturff and Kenneth McInturff; and sister, Carol Adamson.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Gary Getting officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. The wearing of masks and social distancing will be required.

Carmen Raya, 93, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 in Hutchinson, KS. Carmen was born March 28, 1927 in Ellinwood, KS, the daughter of Vincente and Ramona (Cancino) Ruiz. 

On April 13, 1964 she was united in marriage to Atilano Raya in Hutchinson, KS, they were blessed with two sons, Gilberto and Gabriel. 

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Carmen liked to dance, enjoyed going on vacations with her family and loved to dress in anything that was red. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Atilano, son Gabriel, one brother and three sisters. 

Carmen is survived by one son, Gilberto Raya of Wichita; a daughter-in-law, Angelita M. Raya of Hutchinson; a sister, Lydia Zamora of Mexico City, Mexico; a cousin, Rafaela McQueen; three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Betty June Fuqua, 91, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. June was born January 18, 1930 in Gentry, AR, the daughter of Otto and Leva D. (Claud) Nichols. 

On March 25, 1949 she married Robert (Dave) Fuqua, to this union they were blessed with four children, Christopher, Robert, Janet and Sharon. Prior to retiring, June had worked as a cashier and bookkeeper at Bob Bottomley Oldsmobile-Cadillac-Datsun dealership in Hutchinson, KS. 

June loved watching sports, fashion, loved to shop, but above all else, loved her family, was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, &amp;amp; great-grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dave, a sister Charlene Bottomley and a brother Sammy Nichols. 

June is survived by her children, Christopher Fuqua and wife Patti of Sun City, AZ, Robert Fuqua of Reno, NV, Jan Lesslie and husband Jeff and Sharon Etzler and husband Thom all of Hutchinson; three half-sisters, Kathy Patterson, Laurie Nichols Carrell and Sherri Ewertt; a half-brother, Scott Nichols; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Alice Eloise Shaffer, 62, died Feb. 21, 2021 in Aberdeen, SD at Bethesda Nursing Home. She was born May 19, 1958 in Hutchinson, the daughter of John and Alice Hirt. 

She had received her Bachelor’s in Nursing and her Master’s in Education. She taught Kindergarten and 1st grade at Independence and Manhattan, KS public schools. 

Survivors include two sons, Grant and Gared Shaffer; five siblings, Marie, Laura, Virginia, David and John; and grandchildren, Emma, Adalyn, Lily, Link and Dejah. 

She was preceded in death by parents John and Alice Hirt, and her brother Paul.

Jason W. McDade, 50, passed away Feb. 19, 2021 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born April 26, 1970 in Hutchinson, the son of Monty and Vicki (Decker) McDade. 

Jason was founder of Riveratz, Inc. in Hutchinson. He was also president and CEO. He was a proud stay at home dad to five children. On April 1, 1998, he met Rogina VanCleave in Hutchinson. They spent 22 years together. 

Jason was preceded in death by his mother Vicki and grandmother, Lillie Kelley. 

Survivors include his lifelong partner, Rogina; father, Monty (Lori) McDade; five children, Jerry Tipton, Rowdy McDade, Trevor McDade, Lukas McDade, and Molly McDade; sisters, Tina (Corey) Potter and Joni Vogt and a brother, Lee Vogt.

Karla K. Scott, 57, of Galva, Kansas, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She was born April 26, 1963 in Moundridge, Kansas, the daughter of Willard E. and Mae (Mastre) Holdeman.

She worked for Partners in Family Care in Moundridge as a receptionist.

Karla was a member of Galva Christian Church. She attended Central Christian Church in Wichita, where she loved to participate in bible study. She was a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed helping others.

Karla is survived by her children, Natasha (Cameron) Wood of Moundridge, Brianna (Nea) Siliva of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and Brody Scott of Wichita; seven grandchildren, Breya, Peyton, Landon, Kolt, Noah, Harper, and Ellanore; brother, Allen (Jane) Holdeman of Indianola, Mississippi; sisters, Gwendene (Ray) Schmidt of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Diane Perko of Salem, Oregon, Lois (Wavern) Unruh of Galva, Lavone (Bruce) Koehn of Okolona, Mississippi, and Karla’s twin, Marla (Stewart) Davidson of Tupelo, Mississippi.

Michael Allen Symns, 41, of Saratoga Wyoming, died Feb. 22, 2021, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born Nov. 14, 1979, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Robert Allen and Regina L. (Cade) Symns.

Michael lived in Goddard and Hays, Kansas as a child and attended Hays High School. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 800 of Bar Nunn, Wyoming and enjoyed operating heavy equipment as a career. He recently worked on the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy project located near Sinclair and Rawlins in Carbon County, Wyoming. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was most at home in the great outdoors of both Kansas and Wyoming.&nbsp;

He is survived by his daughter, Sage Marie Symns of Texas; mother, Regina Cade (Bradley Stiggins), Partridge, Kansas; his father, Robert (Sabrina) Symns, Saratoga, Wyoming; brother,&nbsp; Lloyd Symns, Partridge, Kansas; grandmother,&nbsp; Marilyn Cade, Abbyville, Kansas; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs J.C. Symns and George William (Bill) Cade.

Jesus ‘Jessie’ Martinez Viegra, 87, of Hutchinson, died of Covid-19, on Feb. 21, 2021, at Hospice House. She was born June 7, 1933, in Hutchinson, to Lucia (Hernandez) and Tiofilo Concepcion ‘TC’ Martinez.&nbsp;

Jessie attended Hutchinson public schools, graduating from Salt City Business College in 1952, and Hutchinson Community College in 1972.

She married Victor D. Viegra in 1954, and together they had seven children. They divorced in 1970.

While raising her seven children, Jessie worked various jobs throughout her life. Those included secretary to pathologist, Dr. Hans Lettner, dispatcher at Hutchinson Fire Department Station #1, and medical records transcriptionist at Hutchinson Hospital, from which she had to retire due to a sudden hearing loss in 1994.

In addition to the joy Jessie got being with her family, she was a voracious reader, who enjoyed reading any subject, and was a strong believer in higher education.

Jessie was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. There was nothing that brought her more comfort than her Catholic faith, praying the rosary, reading about her faith or watching a Catholic program or Mass on EWTN. Some of her last words to her children was to pray – something she told them often throughout her life.

Jessie is survived by her children, David Viegra, Bel Aire, Victoria Cooper (Pat), Hutchinson, Veronica Viegra, Independence, MO, Maria Chris Shafer (Larry), Hutchinson, Valerie Cox (Jimmie) Wichita, Jennifer Frye, Lenexa; grandchildren, Amy Ewing (Sean), Julie Viegra-Gayler (Jeff), Brian Viegra (Carla), Olivia Viegra, Petra Bricker (Matt), Allen Shafer (MariBeth), Catherine Shafer (Justin Pierce), Micah Cox, Nicholas Cox (Mandy), Melissa Cox, Andrea Frye, Rachel Okerberg (Kirby), Matthew Frye; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one great-great on the way; sister, Beatrice Almanza, Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Antonio Augusto, Topeka; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Felicia Ann Viegra Woodson; brothers, Julian Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Concho Martinez, Raymond Martinez; sisters, Mary Augusto and Elenora Navarro.

Parish Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, led by Father Todd Shepherd. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, celebrated by Fathers Charles Seiwert and Ned Blick, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S Maple St., South Hutchinson. She was born June 7, 1933, in Hutchinson, to Lucia (Hernandez) and Tiofilo Concepcion ‘TC’ Martinez.&nbsp;Jessie attended Hutchinson public schools, graduating from Salt City Business College in 1952, and Hutchinson Community College in 1972.She married Victor D. Viegra in 1954, and together they had seven children. They divorced in 1970.While raising her seven children, Jessie worked various jobs throughout her life. Those included secretary to pathologist, Dr. Hans Lettner, dispatcher at Hutchinson Fire Department Station #1, and medical records transcriptionist at Hutchinson Hospital, from which she had to retire due to a sudden hearing loss in 1994.In addition to the joy Jessie got being with her family, she was a voracious reader, who enjoyed reading any subject, and was a strong believer in higher education.Jessie was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. There was nothing that brought her more comfort than her Catholic faith, praying the rosary, reading about her faith or watching a Catholic program or Mass on EWTN. Charlene Powell, 85, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 22, 2021, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Hayti, Missouri, to Charles and Lillian (Vinson) Morgan.

Charlene graduated from high school in 1953. She was a homemaker who loved bowling. Charlene was an accomplished decorator, knitter, and seamstress.&nbsp;

On Oct. 1, 1955, Charlene married Donald Eugene Powell. They shared 50 years together before he passed away July 30, 2006.

Charlene is survived by daughter, Debi Goff, Hutchinson; granddaughter, Deana Jullie (Jason), Dallas, Texas; grandson, Dustin Goff, Hutchinson; great-granddaughters, Jocelyn and Piper; brother, Charles Morgan; and sister, Demetra, Washington.

Alvina Katharine Peters, 80, of St. Paul, died Feb. 18, 2021, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village. She was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, to Oliver and Elizabeth (Little Soldier) Frog.

Alvina graduated high school in 1958, and later attended Hutchinson Community College to earn her associate’s degree. She was a homemaker and &nbsp;typist for Hutchinson SRS. Over the years, Alvina loved to go bowling. She was very proud of her Native American heritage and loved taking her grandchildren to pow-wows in South Dakota. Alvina was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson.

On March 23, 1963, she married Ernest Peters, at Fort Riley. They shared 56 years together, before he passed away on May 27, 2019.

Alvina is survived by daughter, Gayla Peters Rizzo, Wichita; son, Ernest Peters (Caroline), Erie; grandsons, Jon Rizzo (Alisn), Leavenworth, Andrew Rizzo, Wichita, Trey Peters, Erie, Jacob Peters, Erie; and great-granddaughter, Cecily Rizzo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Ernest Peters.

Judy Lee Branson, 74, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 17, 2021. Judy was born June 19, 1946, in Wellington, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ila Lee Davis and Alva Wayne (Dan) Langford. Judy married Bruce Alan Branson on Jan. 29, 1972.&nbsp; He survives.

She is survived by four children: Michele Ford of Wichita, Lisa Tolbert, Hutchinson, Brandi Warns-Branson, Wichita, and Jamey (Alicia) Branson of Mount Hope. Judy is Grandma by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandson. All survive.&nbsp; Also surviving is brother, Michael Wayne Langford and sister, Randy Lynn Langford, both of Wellington. One cannot fail to mention, her ever faithful dog, Ollie.&nbsp;

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Dana Kay Langford, sister Jana Jo Langford, daughter-in-law Elissa Warns-Branson, and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Judy lived a full life between Wellington and Hutchinson, Kansas, moving to the latter in 1979 and remained there until her death. She worked in the restaurant industry in Wellington and Hutch, meeting many people throughout the years. She got her start at A&amp;W as a teenager, and graced many Wellington landmark diners throughout the years, including Sid’s, Pine Lodge, Country Acres, Grannie’s Kitchen, and The Homestead. Once in Hutch, she got her start at Skaets and Ken’s Pizza. Later, she worked in the restaurant in the Quality Inn for many years. She always told stories of meeting State Fair acts and junior college basketball and softball teams that stayed at the motel while she worked in the restaurant, Mickey D’s. Autographs from the Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, and others seemed to be a lifetime highlight!&nbsp;

Judy loved camping with friends and family. She and Bruce made an annual trip to the mountains for many years. She was a sucker for a sappy romance novel, a cross word puzzle expert, and a life-long BINGO lover. She got involved, along with her husband, with The American Legion post in Hutchinson. She and Bruce were pivotal members involved in heart-warming send-offs for soldiers leaving their families, welcome home celebrations, and many a funeral for our fallen heroes. She was also part of a human shield protecting families of deceased military members from the ugliness of picketers.

Judy loved people. She was always proud to have the opportunity to work with, meet, and befriend such an eclectic collection of people. She will be remembered by all she touched as a fun-loving little firecracker.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, 730 W. 4th Avenue, Hutchinson. Casey graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1989 and received a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Kansas State University. He worked as a cook in just about every restaurant in town, as well as a carpenter and roofer. Casey loved woodworking, making rocking horses for several of his family members. He was very smart and full of care for his loved ones.

Casey is survived by his mother, Janet Carrier; sisters, Dawn Kowalsky (Kevin), Tracy Beck (Bradley), all of Hutchinson; seven nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews; and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clair.

Mary graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1964, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Sterling College and her Master of Arts Degree from Baker University. She taught English and home economics at Pretty Prairie High School, and English and science at Trinity Catholic High School. She ended her over 25-year teaching career as a special education teacher for USD 308. Mary was an active member of Crossroads Christian Church.

On March 18, 1967, she married Roger L. Roots, in South Hutchinson. They shared almost 54 years or marriage.

Mary is survived by husband, Roger of Hutchinson; children, Samuel Roots (Jules Pitchford) of Wichita, Matthew Roots (Tricia) of Inman, Katie Roots of New York, NY; sister, Patricia Peoples of Odenville, AL; grandchildren, Riley and Jayden Roots, and Sterling Roots; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous friends and students.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marjory Glass; in-laws, C.A. “Bill” and Mildred Roots; brothers-in-law, Frank Peoples and Frank Fee; sister-in-law, Bonnie Fee; and niece, Carolyn Fee.

Sue Ellen Smith, 86, formerly of Hutchinson, died Feb. 16, 2021, in Bloomington, IL. She was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Jacksonville, TX, to James Fulton and Essie Mae (Halbert) Madden.

Sue graduated from Rusk High School, Rusk, TX in 1953, and Sam Houston University, Huntsville, TX in 1956.&nbsp; In 1997, she retired from teaching elementary school at Buhler Unified School District #313.&nbsp; Sue enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, singing, and performing, and going to dinner with the “Anchor Inn Group”. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and DOERS Sunday School Class. Sue moved to Bloomington, IL, to be closer to her family. In Bloomington, she lived in Carriage Crossing Senior Living, where she was known for her infectious smile and playful personality. The family is so appreciative for the love and care given to Sue at Carriage Crossing.

On Aug. 8, 1959, she married James Robert “Bob” Smith, in Rusk, TX. They shared almost 59 years of marriage, before his death on April 8, 2018.

Sue is survived by: children, Steve and wife Julie of Naperville, IL, Susan Rapp and husband Ray of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Ryan Smith (Sarah), Midland, MI, Colin Smith, Argentina, Nathan Rapp, Hubbard, TX, Merritt Smith, Chester, VA, Nolan (Michelle) Rapp, Waco, TX, Mallory Smith, Los Angeles, CA, Beatrice Smith, Auburn, AL and Millie Smith, Naperville, IL; and great-grandchildren, Holman, Sidney, Winston, Maycie, Adelai, Kael, and Aidric Smith, and Emerson and Graysen Rapp.

Wayne Lynn King, 59, passed away Feb. 18, 2021, at his home.&nbsp; He was born Dec. 8, 1961, in Hays, to Marvin L. and Barbara R. (Bittel) King.

Wayne was a 1980 graduate of Ellis High School.&nbsp; On Aug. 12, 1995, he married the love of his life, Sharon Kirchoff, in Hutchinson. They shared over 25 years together, making memories and sharing adventures. He was a manager at Woodwork Manufacturing. Wayne was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.

He enjoyed woodworking and could build just about anything, with crosses being one of his favorite projects. Wayne enjoyed running and working out, competing in multiple races, including the Chicago Marathon. He was a family man who never missed one of his children’s or grandchildren’s activities. Spending time with family was one of his favorite pastimes. Wayne was always up for any adventure or crazy idea that his family threw at him. He was a people person and never knew a stranger; once he met you, you were his friend for life. Wayne gave himself unselfishly to his family, work, church, and anyone else he could help. He enjoyed life, coaching, traveling, fishing, eating ice cream, and telling a joke.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon King of Hutchinson; children, Ashley (Scott) Briand of Ransom, Luke King of Hutchinson, and Kaleb King of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Chloe, Addison, and Evan Briand; parents, Marvin and Barbara King of Ellis; siblings, Wade (Leitha) King of Ellis, Wanda (Donnie) Younger of Ellis, and Wes (Kim) King of Andale; father-in-law, Don Kirchoff; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Larry) Claar, Karen (Mark) Percival, and Carol (Rick) Rupp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Christina “Tina” Leah McFerrin, 63 years old, of Sylvia, KS was born May 18, 1957. She left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021.

She married the love of her life, Montie McFerrin, on June 28, 1986. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Management from Sterling College in 2019, which was a lifelong dream and accomplishment. She worked in the financial aid department at Sterling College for 7.5 years. 

Tina was a founding member of the SaltCity Cowboy Church. 

She is survived by her husband, Montie McFerrin, of 34 years, her twins, Colton McFerrin and Kathryn Patee (Husband, Dustin Patee) and their three children; Malley, Welker and Bristol. She is also survived by her father, William “Bill” Mohr, mom, Sherri Mohr, and her brother, Gary Mohr (Joy Shaker), brother-in-law, Jerry McFerrin, sister-in-law, Susan McFerrin, and brother-in-law, Tim McFerrin, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Memorial arrangements are being handled by Hutchinson Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the SaltCity Cowboy Church, 810 N. Main, South Hutchinson. The memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at 2 p.m., at the SaltCity Cowboy Church.

Edna Lee Withiam, 85, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at Schowalter Villa. She was born Jan. 17, 1936 in Winfield, Kansas, the daughter of Darrel and Hazel (Groom) Wamsley.

Edna was a devoted homemaker. She was described as a really good cook and she enjoyed gardening with flowers to attract birds to their yard.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oakley and the Royal Neighbors fraternal organization.

She was united in marriage to Stanley “Kye” Withiam on Feb. 23, 1954 in Rock, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2016.&nbsp;

Kye’s work took them to various communities where they made lasting friendships. Edna became involved in quilting groups, sharing in bible study, leading 4-H cooking classes and EHU ladies throughout these communities.

Edna is survived by her children, David (Donna) Withiam of Newton, Diana (Jim) Schmidt of Goessel, and Bill Withiam (fiancé, Daphne Bliss) of North Newton; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Darrel Wamsley and Hazel Wamsley Felker; step-father, Carrol Felker; and a grandson, Nathan Fast.

Mildred Elaine Mauck Decker Applegate was born Dec. 17, 1923, the sixth child of Phillip and Bessie Holmes Mauck. She died Feb. 15, 2021, in Fort Collins, CO. Her childhood was spent in the rural central Kansas community of Lerado, and she graduated from Langdon High School in 1941.

Elaine attended Fort Hays Kansas State College in 1941-1942 and earned a teaching certificate. In 1942-1943 she taught eight grades at Prairie Hall school northwest of Pretty Prairie, Kansas. Then in 1943-1944 she taught grades 1-3 at Plevna Kansas Elementary School.

While at Fort Hays College, Elaine met Kenneth Sylvester Decker of Bison, Kansas and they were married in March 25, 1944. In the winter of 1948, Kenneth was diagnosed with leukemia and died on July 9, 1948. Elaine gave birth to their son, Kenneth Sylvester Decker, Jr. on Nov. 5, 1948.

On Sept. 14, 1949 Elaine and Harold Glenn Applegate were married at her grandfather’s home in Langdon KS. Glenn worked in the Plevna State Bank in Plevna, and so Elaine, Glenn and Kenny moved to Plevna. Their daughter Barbara Elaine was born Aug. 3, 1950 and Glenn adopted Kenny at the same time. Another son Gary Robert was born July 16, 1953. In 1957, Glenn took a job at the First State Bank in Leoti, KS, 200 miles to the west of Plevna. A third son, Randy Lee was born in Leoti on May 27, 1958.

Once Glenn retired from the bank in Jan.1984, he and Elaine became “snowbirds”, spending summers in Leoti and winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Glenn passed away in January 2005, shortly after their move from Leoti to independent living at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, KS, just a few miles from where Elaine and Glenn grew up. Elaine lived at Wesley Towers until 2016 when she moved to Fort Collins, CO to be near her daughter Barbara, son Randy, and sister Melba Treaster.

Elaine lived in independent living until March, 2020, when due to Covid-19 lockdown she moved in with Barbara. She was able to remain in Barbara’s home until her death from natural causes on Feb. 15, 2021, at age 97.

Elaine was predeceased by her husbands Kenneth Decker and Glenn Applegate, son Kenneth, her parents Phillip and Bessie Mauck, sisters Beulah, Lois, Phyllis Mae, and Marjorie, brothers Howard, Kenneth, Kenton, and Henry.

She is survived by her sister Melba Treaster of Fort Collins, CO, daughter Barbara Applegate of Fort Collins, CO, son Gary Applegate and daughter-in-law Kathy of Wichita KS, son Randy Applegate and daughter-in-law Vikki of Westminster, CO.&nbsp; She is also survived by nine grandchildren:&nbsp; Bonnie Gottschalk, Lynn Books, Janette Ashton, Tim Applegate (Erin), Judy Olguin (Donald), Morgan Eaton, Kenneth Applegate (Corey), Matthew Applegate (Aubrey), Brittany Applegate, Elizabeth Applegate (Colby); 20 great-grandchildren: Nicole, Coty, Kayla, Charles Books, Annabella and Elianna Gunn, Jaxson Gilbert, Hattie Applegate, Olin Applegate, Willow Applegate, Reece Gasparino, Donnie Olguin III, Zari Olguin, Jordan Olguin, Cataleya Olguin, Annabelle Applegate, Jason Applegate, Adalyn Applegate, Alivia Applegate, Anay Applegate, Jonah Whitehead, and Adriela Whitehead.&nbsp;

A service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St, Fort Collins, CO at 10 a.m. on Friday Feb. 19, 2021. Masks and social distancing are required. The service will also be live-streamed.

Casey is survived by: his mother, Janet Carrier; sisters, Dawn Kowalsky (Kevin), Tracy Beck (Bradley), all of Hutchinson; seven nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews; and one on the way.

Casey Shawn Carrier, 50, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 17, 2021, at his home. He was born Feb. 7, 1971, in Hutchinson, to Clair E. and Janet K. (Thompson) Carrier.Casey graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1989 and received a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Kansas State University. He worked as a cook in just about every restaurant in town, as well as a carpenter and roofer. Casey loved woodworking, making rocking horses for several of his family members. He was very smart and full of care for his loved ones.Casey is survived by: his mother, Janet Carrier; sisters, Dawn Kowalsky (Kevin), Tracy Beck (Bradley), all of Hutchinson; seven nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews; and one on the way.He was preceded in death by his father, Clair.Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Arlyss W. Schroeder, 75, of Inman, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 28, 1945 in rural Hillsboro, Kansas, the son of Arthur M. and Pearl E. (Koop) Schroeder.

He graduated from Central Christian School.

He was a farmer and stockman. Arlyss and his brothers did custom silage cutting for 15 years.

Arlyss was united in marriage to Letha Schroeder on July 18, 1970 in Kingman, Kansas.

He was a member of Buhler MB Church, where he was active as an usher for 40 plus years, and worked as the sound technician for church services. Arlyss helped with the Wednesday night meals and taught classes at the church.

Arlyss was a member of the MCC Board, where he helped with the MCC relief sale for 23 years. He was also a member of Farm Bureau since the early 1990’s, the Upper Little Arkansas River Watershed District, Gideon’s International, and was township treasurer. Arlyss held leadership roles and was involved with his children with the 4-H Club. He was involved with Mennonite Disaster Cleanup, where he would help sheetrock and rebuild pasture fences after natural disasters in multiple areas.

He is survived by his wife, Letha, of the home; daughter, Sherry Schroeder of Inman; sons, Mark (Shelly) Schroeder of Inman, Andy (Shelly) Schroeder of Andover, and Ricky (Lisa) Schroeder of Inman; six grandchildren, Brin, Ian, Kayla, Katelyn, Jonathon, and Kimberly Schroeder; brother, Richard (LuWanda) Schroeder of Moundridge; sisters, Sylvia (Ken) Walters of Greenville, Texas, and Gloria (Elden) Friesen of Dinuba, California; and sister-in-law, Elva Schroeder of Buhler.

Arlyss was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elaine Rice and husband, Clyde, and Eldene Schroeder; and brother, Arthur D. Schroeder.

 </figure>Arlyss W. Schroeder, 75, of Inman, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 28, 1945 in rural Hillsboro, Kansas, the son of Arthur M. and Pearl E. (Koop) Schroeder.He graduated from Central Christian School.He was a farmer and stockman. Arlyss and his brothers did custom silage cutting for 15 years.Arlyss was united in marriage to Letha Schroeder on July 18, 1970 in Kingman, Kansas.He was a member of Buhler MB Church, where he was active as an usher for 40 plus years, and worked as the sound technician for church services. Arlyss helped with the Wednesday night meals and taught classes at the church.Arlyss was a member of the MCC Board, where he helped with the MCC relief sale for 23 years. He was also a member of Farm Bureau since the early 1990’s, the Upper Little Arkansas River Watershed District, Gideon’s International, and was township treasurer. Arlyss held leadership roles and was involved with his children with the 4-H Club. Donnie E. Schrag, 67, entered Heaven Feb. 15, 2021, at Stafford County Hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1953, in Halstead, Kansas, the son of Marvin E. and Bertha (Gehring) Schrag.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; .

He was in the Moundridge High School class of 1971. He worked as a welder at Hesston Corporation for 42 years and was a Union member. He was a member of Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church and the Buhler Jaycees. &nbsp;

Donnie married Shirley J. Fahrney July 26, 1975, at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. She survives. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Other survivors include a son, Jeff (Daphnie) Schrag of Stafford; a daughter, Jean (Mike) Cumbie of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Desirae Kessler, Ruger Schrag, Jessica Schrag and Rowan Cumbie; great grandchildren, Toby, Naomi, Paislea and Riggin Kessler; a brother, Dale (Carol) Schrag of Newton; a sister, Delila (Lester) Wedel of Elbing, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Jane Ford, Judy Regier and Diane Desmond.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. The service will be live-streamed on the Buhler MB Facebook page. Henry James Mandeville – Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend.

A lifelong resident and Letter Carrier of Hutchinson, Henry James Mandeville “Jim”, 89, changed his address on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 from his daughter Roxanne’s home in Buhler, Kansas to the Arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jim was born on Dec. 16, 1931 to Ralph and Maryetta (Landon) Mandeville in Hutchinson. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Charles R Ware, DD-865 during the Korean Conflict. He met his beautiful bride Lola Mae Blew, at the Hutchinson Post Office and they married on March 1st, 1953 in Sylvia, Kansas.

Jim began a long career as a Letter Carrier in Hutchinson, Kansas in 1953 retiring after more than 38 years of service in 1991. Jim loved to spend time with his family, church family, and friends. Jim knew no stranger and always made you feel welcome. He was actively involved in the National Association of Letter Carriers as well as, his church/es Westside Baptist and Medora Community Bible Church. Jim volunteered with the Reno County Sheriffs patrol for years as well as, enjoyed numerous duties in AWANA club at Westside.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 68 years - Lola; daughters, Vicki (Thomas) Trezise of Hutchinson, and Roxanne Mandeville of Buhler; sons, Richard (Victoria) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ronald (Leslie) of Hutchinson, and Timothy (best friend Heidi) of Towanda/Wichita; grandchildren, Thomas, Melisa, Shannon, Natalie, Christopher, Brandi, Andrew, Sabrina, Ethan, Nicole, Jesica, Michelle, Allyson, Olivia, and Alaina; 31 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Katherine (Rod) Aps; brother, Marion Mandeville; brothers-in-law, Beryl (Twila) Blew and William Blew; and numerous granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Margaret Wagoner (Robert Levoy/Roy Ryan/Jack Wagoner); brothers, Earl, twins, Larry and Jarry, and Robert (Nancy) Mandeville; sisters-in-law, Opal (Conrad) Bunting, Gwen (Jim), Doris (Willie), Helen and Patricia Blew, Nancy (Bob) Mandeville; and brothers-in-law James Blew and Conrad Bunting.

It is Jim’s fervent prayer that YOU be introduced to God’s Grace; Amazing Grace with Salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, so YOU too can join him in Heaven when your work on earth is through. God left His simple directions in His Holy Word.

The Problem:&nbsp;We are all sinners by nature and by choice. Romans 3:23&nbsp;–&nbsp;“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

The Predicament: We can’t get there by ourselves. Romans 4: 4-5&nbsp;–&nbsp;“Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work, but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is account for righteousness”

The Penalty: There is a consequence for our sin.&nbsp;Romans 5:12&nbsp;–&nbsp;“Therefore, just as through one man, sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all have sinned”

The Provision:&nbsp;God demonstrated His love for us. Romans 5:8&nbsp;–&nbsp;“But God demonstrates His own love towards us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us”

The Pardon:&nbsp;We receive eternal life as a free gift! Romans 6:23&nbsp;–&nbsp;“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The Process:&nbsp;We must trust and surrender to Jesus as Lord. Romans 10: 9-10&nbsp;–&nbsp;“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”
