Ruth W. Johnson, 104, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at NMC Health Medical Center in Newton. She was born March 6, 1917, in Moundridge, Kansas, the daughter of Frank H. and Anna (Dyck) Wenger.
She was a member of the Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite of Hesston.
Ruth was united in marriage to Orval Johnson on July 24, 1935 at McPherson, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1993.
She was a devoted homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Edward (Hazel) Johnson of Demopolis, AL, and Frank Johnson of Faunsdale, AL; daughters, Anna “Annie” (Johnnie) Johnson of Arthur, IL, Janet Zismann of Macon, MS, and Christine (Kirby) Goering of Moundridge; 26 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Marilyn Johnson and Carol Johnson of Macon, MS; brothers, Maynard (Vera) Peters of Stapleton, GA, John (Kathleen) Wenger of Walnut Hill, FL, and Glen (Kay) Wenger of Faunsdale, AL; sisters, Edith Koehn of Montezuma, Verna Schmidt of Macon, MS, Vesta (Verle) Peters of Walnut Hill, FL, Mary Ann (Jay) Nikkel of Arthur, IL, and Martha (Allen) Koehn of Moundridge.
Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Wenger; step-mother, Mary Wenger; sons, Arlo and Roger Johnson; daughter, Mavis Koehn; three grandsons; one great-grandson; one daughter-in-law; two sons-in-law; and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Meridian Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Hesston. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Monday, June 14, at Moundridge Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the church.
