Dr. Ronald F. Stevens, son of Fred and Geneva Stevens, was born on January 13, 1949, in Wichita. He passed away peacefully on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Kidron Bethel, at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather Ron will be missed by many.

Ron attended Westminster College and graduated from Kansas State University before attending medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico. He then returned and did his residency at K.U. School of Medicine. He then met and married the love of his life, Pamela L. Stevens on October 24, 1982, in Wichita. He then dedicated his career to serving others as a family physician. He worked at Bethel Clinic, was a partner at Wichita Clinic; and finally retired from Via Christi/Ascension in 2016. He enjoyed getting to know and caring for his patients and their families, who in return enriched his life.

When he wasn’t working as a doctor one of Ronnie’s favorite things to do was to get away and spend time in Avon, Colorado. Over the years he took joy in hiking, biking and downhill skiing. This love of being in the mountains is being continued on the same trails by his children and grandchildren. In the last few years, you could often find him sitting in the front yard on his glider soaking in the sunshine and friendly conversations. Ron enjoyed many things such as attending Kansas State football games, going on long motorcycle rides, cruising in his classic 52’ MG TD, evening phone calls with friends, eating his tiptop from Nuway or burgers from Ty’s Diner, wearing bow ties to the office and always having crushed ice chips and a Diet Pepsi nearby. His greatest joy of all was taking his wife, children and, most importantly, his grandchildren to Disney after his retirement. With the help of his Dream Team of Doctors, Dr. Bassam Mattar, Dr. Wassim H. Shaheen and Dr. Jason Taylor, Ron was able to spend more time with those he loved most.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Geneva Stevens. He will live on in the memories of his wife, Pam, son and daughter-in-law Tyler and Ericia Stevens, daughter Lauren Stevens, Grandchildren Landyn, Oliver and Savannah Stevens; Sisters and brothers-in-laws Jan and Jim Mattingly, Stephanie and Dr. Jay Stanley Jones, and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. His memory will also live in the many patients he served and met throughout his career. A special thank you to all who helped care for Ronnie in his final days.

&nbsp; Herbert Laverne Johnson was born July 11, 1936 in Princeville, Illinois the first of two sons of Harold Elgin Johnson and Lorene Francis Kramer Johnson. After leaving the farm near Princeville, Illinois, his family moved to Canton, Illinois, Illiopolis, Illinois, Richmond, California, Beatrice, Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska, South English, Iowa, McPherson, Kansas, Garden City, Kansas, Adel, Iowa, York Center, Illinois, Wyers Cave, Virginia, Mt. Morris, Illinois, Thayer, Nebraska, Elk Horn, Iowa, McPherson, Moscow, Liberal, Kansas, and Blue Eye, Missouri. His high school years were spent at Beatrice, Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska, Kinross High School near South English, Iowa, McPherson, Kansas and he graduated from Adel, Iowa. In 1954 he entered McPherson College as an industrial arts major but after taking several courses with Dr. Raymond Flory history/government became his major and his first professional love with industrial arts a close second. While at McPherson College he met Helen Joan Ford and they were married on August 25, 1957. They had three children Helen Rachel, Harold Lane and Hope Elizabeth. After graduating in 1958 Herb’s first job teaching at Thayer High School in Thayer, Nebraska where he organized an Industrial Arts Department. After two years at Thayer he went to Elk Horn High School in Elk Horn, Iowa where he organized a district wide Library/Media program and a High School Industrial Arts program. In 1970 Herb earned his Master's degree at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and was called to McPherson College to organize an Educational Media program for the college in Miller Library. While at the college he also started an Audio Visual Communications Department/program. In 1988 he went to Moscow High School in Moscow, Kansas where he was instrumental in the organization of a District Library/Media and Computer Program. Herb loved education and small schools. He also loved to organize new programs for those students. Some of those programs were “before their time” but they always seemed to be well received by his students. In 1998 he was granted early retirement by the Moscow school district. Then he and Joan moved to Blue Eye, Missouri near Branson. Herb had many interests hunting, fishing, collecting, travel in the United States, and architectural design. He was a student of several Native American tribes including the Mississippian Mound Builders, the American Civil War, the Trans-Mississippi West and World War II. His many interests led one of the superintendents that he served under to refer to him as “my shortstop “. Herb often said “I’ve done everything except teach home economics and girls physical education”. After Joan’s passing in 1999 he spent much time fishing, reading and the pursuit of family history and genealogy. In 2010 he returned to McPherson. Herbert Laverne Johnson, 85, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 3:53 a.m., Friday, August 6th, 2021 while in the company of family members, at Cedars Health Care Center. Herb wrote, “Remember, if you are a Christian, death is just another journey and I love to travel”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lorene Johnson; and his wife Joan Johnson. He is survived by his children, H. Rachel and Dr. Russ McCaulley of Great Bend, Kansas, Harold and Lori Johnson of Wichita, Kansas, and Hope and Bob Mason of Lenexa, Kansas; his brother, Lee Johnson of Blue Eye, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dr. Dani McCaulley, Scott McCaulley, Joshua Thayer, Jennifer Wyant and husband Clay, and Jessica Smith and husband Tim; five great-grandchildren, Jack, Lucas, Hunter, Ember, Connor and one on the way; other relatives, students, and a host of friends. Verlla Coughenour, age 91 and a longtime resident of Manhattan, died Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Bethany Village in Lindsborg.

Verlla was born on February 11, 1930 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Melvin and Pearl (Wiltfong) Hummer.  Raised on a farm in the Oklahoma/Texas Panhandle she graduated from Perryton High School in 1948.  

She attended McPherson College where she met Dean Coughenour.  They were married on August 24, 1951, and moved directly to Oberlin, Ks where Dean taught in the High School.  In 1958 they moved to Manhattan, Kansas where they owned AgPress, a publishing and printing company.  

Verlla was an active member of PEO and the First Presbyterian Church in Manhattan for over 50 years.   She was an avid tennis player, played in several bridge clubs and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her three children, Tim Coughenour of Lawrence, Susan Coughenour Lundstrom (Greg) of Lindsborg and Evan Coughenour (Diane) of Manhattan; two grandchildren Eric Lundstrom (Erin) and Bebe Coughenour Juen (John); six great grandchildren Carter, Beckett, Harper, Isis, Tala and Kai; nine nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dean Coughenour, parents Melvin and Pearl Hummer, brother Lloyd Hummer and infant sister Genevieve. 

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 14, at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Manhattan.  A private family inurnment will precede the service.

Sadie Decker of Peabody, Kansas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to many passed away peacefully on July 31, 2021. 

Sadie was born July 17, 1917 on her family’s farm six miles south of Galva, Kansas. She was the third youngest of eight children born to Isaac and Carrie Jantz. Sadie grew up on the family farm and attended school completing her sophomore year of High School.  In her late teens she performed housekeeping for several families in the McPherson area. She met and started dating her future husband, La Verne Decker of Moundridge, at her 21st birthday party organized by her younger sister, Elda. They were married on May 24, 1939 at the Emmanuel Mennonite church with a reception at the Jantz family farm. The newlywed couple moved immediately to their farm outside Peabody, Kansas where the first order of business was to get the spring crops planted. They established their farm in Peabody and became firmly established in the community during the 1940’s. One of the major events during this time was getting electricity to the farm in February 1941; she always said that was a special day. During World War II, Sadie was active in the USO in Newton Kansas, providing meals for soldiers traveling across the country by rail.

Sadie was a homemaker, raising two boys, while helping with many farming chores that needed to be done. She was an exceptional seamstress, making her own clothes; Afghans and quilts for her two sons and their families. Another area where Sadie excelled was her cooking; she spoiled her family with excellent meals using fresh farm produce. Her cinnamon rolls, fresh pies and cakes were always a hit with the family. Sadie kept active in many social and educational groups; Belleview study group, Kansas State University Home Extension Units, Stitch and Chatter club, and Sorosis club.

Sadie and La Verne stopped farming in 1986, and were able to travel; trips to Alaska and Hawaii were her favorites. Her husband La Verne passed away in November 1999; Sadie continued to live on the farm until December 2000, when she moved into Peabody. She lived in Peabody for another 19 years, keeping active in the Methodist Church, Senior Center and managing the family farm. She moved to El Dorado in November 2019 where she remained until her passing. A life well lived, her legacy will be carried warmly in our hearts

Sadie was preceded in death by her husband La Verne and her eight siblings. She is survived by her son Rodger and wife Sharon of El Dorado, Kansas;  Darrel and wife Helen of Westminster, Colorado;  grandchildren Danielle, Carissa (Chris), Alan(Jonette), Karla(Craig) Laura (Adrian); great grandchildren Cole, Jacob, Kaelyn, Brody, Dylan, Rylan, Lyanna, Samantha, Austin and Avery.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Peabody United Methodist Church on August 21, 2021. Visitation at 9 am with Service at 10:30am, both at the Peabody United Methodist Church, 403 N. Sycamore, Peabody, Kansas. Graveside Service following at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Prairie Lawn Rd, Peabody. Lunch immediately following graveside service at the Peabody United Methodist Church.

Sadie Decker |1917-2021|

Fred Vague was a hero to his sons.  His life was simple but complex.  Life was difficult but he made the most of every opportunity.  From his birth in Castleton, Kansas, to his death in Wichita he did not physically stray from his roots.  However, that did not stop his active mind from going to far places and exploring complex things with his mind.  This was a result of the cruel act of blindness. 

Fred Robert Vague was born on July 31, 1925, to Frederick and Viola Mae (Dague) Vague.  He died on August 1, 2021 at the age of 96. He was a loving husband to Cristel Erlee (Higgins) Vague and the Father of Rex R. Vague and Ron A. Vague.  He had two siblings, Helen Ann McClellan and Melvin Vague.  “Fred R” or “Zeke” as many called him, had a long and fruitful life.  He grew up in the town of Hutchinson, Kansas, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1943.  He joined the Navy on September 15, 1943 during World War II.  He advanced to the rank of Motor Machinist Mate 2c. And was honorably discharged from the Navy on May 19, 1946.  He attended Hutchinson Junior College from 1946 to 1948.  He married Cristel Erlee Higgins on July 30, 1948.  He attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and after graduation with a law degree in 1951 moved to Wichita, Kansas to live.  Fred was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa and subsequently progressed to total blindness.  He worked for the Travelers Insurance Company in Wichita for 25 years as a claims attorney, and was the Supervising Adjustor of the Claims Department. 

Fred will be remembered as an active man that nothing seemed to bother much.  Considering his condition and the hardships it placed on him, that outlook on life was exceptional.  His active mind and inquisitiveness about all things served him well throughout the years.  He bowled on the Blind Bowlers League in Wichita for many years. He was a ham radio operator, wood worker and loved all things mechanical.  He was the builder, mechanic and pit crew for his sons 10 year Go Kart racing hobby.  He had a love and passion for automobiles and books, and although finances were tight managed to obtain several cars that are considered classic by today’s standards, as well as an extensive library. He read every day, first reading Braille, then listening to Talking Books furnished by the Kansas State Library, and went through a prodigious number of them over the years.  He was an avid Shocker fan, and enjoyed listening to WSU games whenever he could.  He also enjoyed attending the Drum and Bugle Corps competitions when they came to the Wichita area.   He and Erlee resided in the north Wichita area in the house of their dreams for 43 years.  Fred was an amazing man who accomplished many things even with his visual disability. Family and friends remember Fred as being sweet, tenderhearted and smart.  He leaves a legacy of love and integrity.  He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and wife. Survivors include his sons Rex (Georgianna Dirga) Vague; Ron (Brenda) Vague; grandchildren Briana Vague, Alex (Tam) Vague, Alana Vague, Aaron (Jessica Allen) Vague; and great grandchildren Destiny and Luna.

Fred Vague was a hero to his sons. His life was simple but complex. Life was difficult but he made the most of every opportunity. From his birth in Castleton, Kansas, to his death in Wichita he did not physically stray from his roots. However, that did not stop his active mind from going to far places and exploring complex things with his mind. This was a result of the cruel act of blindness. Fred Robert Vague was born on July 31, 1925, to Frederick and Viola Mae (Dague) Vague. He died on August 1, 2021 at the age of 96. He was a loving husband to Cristel Erlee (Higgins) Vague and the Father of Rex R. Vague and Ron A. Vague. He had two siblings, Helen Ann McClellan and Melvin Vague. “Fred R” or “Zeke” as many called him, had a long and fruitful life. He grew up in the town of Hutchinson, Kansas, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1943. He joined the Navy on September 15, 1943 during World War II. He advanced to the rank of Motor Machinist Mate 2c. And was honorably discharged from the Navy on May 19, 1946. He attended Hutchinson Junior College from 1946 to 1948. He married Cristel Erlee Higgins on July 30, 1948. He attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and after graduation with a law degree in 1951 moved to Wichita, Kansas to live. Fred was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa and subsequently progressed to total blindness. He worked for the Travelers Insurance Company in Wichita for 25 years as a claims attorney, and was the Supervising Adjustor of the Claims Department. Fred will be remembered as an active man that nothing seemed to bother much. Considering his condition and the hardships it placed on him, that outlook on life was exceptional. His active mind and inquisitiveness about all things served him well throughout the years. He bowled on the Blind Bowlers League in Wichita for many years. He was a ham radio operator, wood worker and loved all things mechanical. He was the builder, mechanic and pit crew for his sons 10 year Go Kart racing hobby. He had a love and passion for automobiles and books, and although finances were tight managed to obtain several cars that are considered classic by today’s standards, as well as an extensive library. He read every day, first reading Braille, then listening to Talking Books furnished by the Kansas State Library, and went through a prodigious number of them over the years. He was an avid Shocker fan, and enjoyed listening to WSU games whenever he could. He also enjoyed attending the Drum and Bugle Corps competitions when they came to the Wichita area. He and Erlee resided in the north Wichita area in the house of their dreams for 43 years. Fred was an amazing man who accomplished many things even with his visual disability. Family and friends remember Fred as being sweet, tenderhearted and smart. He leaves a legacy of love and integrity. He will be greatly missed.He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and wife. Ralph Kier Crockett, 91, a long-time resident of Lyons, Kansas, passed away August 7, 2021 in Denver, CO after a long illness. 

Ralph was born February 19, 1930, on a farm near Gentry, MO. He was the fifth of eight children born to Oliver Monroe and Stella Beatrice (Kier) Crockett. He attended grade school at the Shockley school near the farm and is a graduate of Albany High School where he played football. After graduating, he worked in St. Joe and attended Maryville College for a short time. He was drafted into the US Army and served two and a half years, which included time overseas in the Korean War. He was awarded a Commendation Medal for meritorious service. On September 5, 1952, he married Marsha M. Murray. They moved to Lyons, Kansas in 1954, where Ralph worked as a mechanic for Bay Petroleum in Chase, KS. They were lifelong members of the First Christian Church in Lyons. Ralph worked for many years at what is now the Kinder Morgan compressor station near Alden. His work took him around Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, and the Gulf Coast. Always a dedicated family man, Ralph’s interests included hunting, football, car and engine maintenance, and farming. He had many vacations with family in Kansas City, the Ozarks, Nebraska, and California. He and Marsha were drawn back to Albany, MO for many occasions and enjoyed class reunions and lifelong friendships there. 

Ralph is survived by his daughter, Gayle Crockett of Denver; brother, Olen Crockett of Denver; and sister, Nadyne Parman and husband Don of West Lafayette, Indiana. Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marsha in 2014; his parents; and siblings, Eldon, Velma, Ruth, Robert, and Arlene. 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the First Christian Church, Lyons with Pastor Thom Scott officiating. All are invited to a lunch at the church following the service. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery with military honors by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 20, 2021, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present. Dian’s life began on September 18, 1931, in Herington. 

She was the daughter of Raymond James and Minnie Augusta (Krause) DeBus. Dian was a 1950 graduate of Herington High School and was a majorette in the band. She was united in marriage to Paul William Hegle on June 16, 1951, in Freemont, NE. Dian worked as a store clerk most of her working career. She was a window dresser and store clerk for JC Penney and Dreiling’s Store. Dian enjoyed flower gardening, baking for her family, loved to fish, loved to take walks and socializing with her friends. 

Her greatest joy was her family including her children Cindy (Gary) Floyd of Herington, Kimberly (Scott) Erickson of Salina, and Tracy (Robert) Gilbert of Groveland, FL; grandchildren GP (Amber) Floyd, Danny Floyd, Nicholyn Strome, Clansey (Emily) Strome, Sarah (Aaron) Wendt, Madeleine Gilbert and Mason Gilbert; great grandchildren Amanda, Tana, Brantley, Wesley, Matthew and Liam, Cleveland, Ivy, Barrett; and great great grandchild Sadie. 

Dian passed away on August 5, 2021, at Herington Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, and siblings Jimmy, Johnny, Woodie, and Kenney DeBus, Lee Rose Valentine, Ella Mae Taylor and Betty Nely. Wayne’s life began on October 4, 1951, the son of Virgil and Mary (Barron) Wisdom in Bonne Terre, Missouri. He graduated from Elvin’s High Class of 1969 and married Marie Diane Sands on February 11, 1972, in Rivermines, Missouri. Wayne retired from Raytheon as a plaster pattern maker. He enjoyed his family, old muscle cars from the 50-70’s, reading Auto-Buy magazines, car shows, guns, hunting deer, and fishing.

His loving family includes his wife, Marie of the home; daughter and her husband, Crystal and Rodney Bain of Whitewater; son, Brian Wisdom of El Dorado, Kansas; grandchildren, Stephanie Newfer (Nick), Ashley Bain, Olivia Wisdom, Breck Wisdom; great-grandchildren, Bentley Bain and Jaxon Newfer; brother, Terry Wisdom of Bonne Terre, Missouri; sister, Mary Ellen Portell of Farmington, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Judy Light of Sevierville, Tennessee, Margie Dunsford (John) of Augusta, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Wayne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the age of 69 years old.

Gerald’s life began on February 25, 1953, in Herington. He was the son of Charles and Alice Mae (Diepenbrock) Dittman. He was a 1971 graduate of Hope High School. Gerald was united in marriage to Diana Evans on December 7, 1974, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lyons Creek. At the time of his death, Gerald was a school bus driver for Hope Schools. Gerald enjoyed riding his motorcycle and making wine and home brewing beer. He was a great cook and computer hobbyist, as well as doing some woodworking. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Post 12 and at the time of his death was the current commander.

His loving family includes his wife Diana of Hope, children Erin (Keith) Day of Krum, TX and Megan (Greg) McPherson of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Tobin and Caitlin Day; siblings Sharon (CJ) Cross of Salina, Duane (Brenda) Dittman of Lincolnville, Janice (John) Fenske of Valley Center and Charlotte (Jim) Schultz of Hope and many nieces and nephews.

Thelma Pauline Hutchinson, 84, of Great Bend, Kansas, and former 
Russell and Paradise, Kansas, resident, died on Friday, August 06, 2021,
 at the Azria Health Care Center in Great Bend, Kansas.

Thelma was born on December 26, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas, the 
daughter of Lester R. and Helen Maude (Dodson) Pfortmiller.&nbsp; She was 
raised by her grandparents Henry and Anna Pfortmiller and grew up and 
attended school in rural Paradise, Kansas, and lived in the Russell, 
Osborne and Barton County, Kansas areas most all her life. &nbsp;She was 
married to Tom Hutchinson on January 25, 1954 in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; From 
this union Thelma and Tom were blessed with 3 children Sheryl, Randy and
 Bruce.&nbsp; She was a hard-working wife and mother who enjoyed taking care 
of her husband and children. &nbsp;She worked as a certified nurse’s 
assistant and physical therapy aid at the Russell Regional Hospital from
 1980 to 1995.&nbsp; She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in
 Russell and Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; She was 
also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, KOOD, ROAR and Palco Art 
Club.&nbsp; She enjoyed being a talented artist creating beautiful oil and 
water color paintings and wood carvings.&nbsp; She enjoyed listening to music
 and watching football on television.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed spending 
time with her family and close friends.

Surviving family include her daughter Sheryl Corn and husband Steve 
of Great Bend, Kansas, sons Randy Hutchinson and wife Stephanie of 
Falun, Kansas and Bruce Hutchinson of Hoisington, Kansas; sisters Sue 
Koehler and husband Dan of Lawrence, Kansas and Loa Gordon of Auburn, 
Kansas; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great 
grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lester Pfortmiller and Helen
 Burger and grandparents Henry and Anna Pfortmiller; sister Alice Wiggs 
and one great grandchild Fayelle Hutchinson. A celebration of Thelma’s 
life will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the 
Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Visitation will be 
from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the mortuary with
 family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M Thursday evening.&nbsp;

Thelma P. Hutchinson

Sonya Kay Chambers, 79, died August 3, 2021, at The Arbors at Waldron Place, in Hutchinson. She was born September 8, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA, to Hershel and Dorothy (Oeser) Gum.

Sonya graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961. She worked as a secretary and in sales before joining her sister, Carolyn, in her cleaning business, “A Woman’s Touch”. Sonya also worked as a private duty caregiver. She was an avid walker, enjoyed playing tennis, and loved cats. Sonya was a member of First Christian Church.

She is survived by: sons, Adam Chambers of Topeka, Shaun Chambers of Meriden; granddaughters, Crystal Puglisi (Nicholas) of Lawrence, Caitlin Chambers of Topeka, Kyra Chambers of Tooele, Utah; sister, Carolyn Bennett of Hutchinson; half-sister, Sheila Miller of Sterling; and numerous extended family members.

Sonya was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Emily Rozan Wilson, 86, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS.

Rosie was born September 12, 1934, in Little River, KS, the daughter of Lemuel R. and Ruth T. (Bates) Hendrickson.  On May 10, 1952, she married Robert (Bob) Wilson, to this union they were blessed with four children, Robert Jr., James, Mark and Christina.

Rosie was a native of Little River and then moved to San Diego, CA. when she and Bob were married. They later moved back to Hutchinson where they raised their children.   She loved working in her garden and baking for her family. Rosie worked for the Hutchinson Library and retired after 19 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step- father, Marvin F. Naylor; son, Robert L. Wilson Jr.; two sisters, Marjorie Stiggins and Twila Elmore and three brothers, Lee Hendrickson, Jim Hendrickson and Donnie Hendrickson.

Rosie is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Christina R. Wilson of Mexico, NY; two sons, James W. Wilson and Mark R. She was born on April 30, 1963 in Medicine Lodge, KS, the daughter of William Edward Barnard and Ruth Emily (Trutna) Barnard.

Jodie graduated from high school in Ness City, KS and Pratt Community College in Pratt, KS. She attended Community Bible Fellowship in Medicine Lodge, KS and was a member of the Medicine Lodge Hospital Auxiliary.

Roberta devoted the majority of her life in Wichita, Kansas and lived a significant span of years in Tacoma, Washington with her husband, children and family. She attended Wichita public schools from primary school through high school ending at Wichita High School North. She then married her high school sweetheart and started her family. She was a homemaker and worked as a IRS tax representative in Tacoma, Washington. She retired as a micro-film clerk at Coleman Company in Wichita, KS. Roberta was active in her church Douglas Assembly of God in Wichita, KS as teacher, event coordinator and Deaconess. She is a beloved member of Maple Gardens Village community and remained active by participating in many social and recreational activities.

Evelyn was a 1944 graduate of Buhler High School.  She worked in the shipping department as an office clerk at Dillons Stores, retiring with over 22 years of service.  After retirement, Evelyn worked as a driver for the Cancer Council of Reno County and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office Senior Patrol Program.  She was a member of the Women of The Moose Hutchinson Chapter #1371 and the Silver Leaf Chapter #464 Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years.  Evelyn was also a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

On July 24, 1944, she married Charles ‘Chuck’ Marion Graham, in Hutchinson.  They shared almost 49 years of marriage, prior to his death on July 6, 1993.

Evelyn is survived by:  son, William ‘Bill’ (Marilyn) Graham of Hutchinson; grandson, Jason (Ann) Graham of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Noelle Graham and Connor Wolfe, both of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; husband; sister, Mildred Snyder; and brothers, Floyd Perry and Jack Perry.

Wilda Stauffer Schrag was born March 4, 1922 in Milford, NE, to Henry and Sophie (Zimmerman) Stauffer.  She passed into the loving arms of our Lord on August 2nd at Ebied Hospice Residence in Toledo, OH.  Wilda was a resident at Maple Crest Assisted Living in Bluffton, OH, prior to suffering a stroke.

After graduating from Milford High School, Wilda attended Hesston College in Hesston, KS.  She graduated from La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing, La Junta, CO in 1945.  Wilda worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 plus years beginning in obstetrics and most of the years in geriatric care in both Illinois and Kansas. 14 of those years were as Director of Nursing at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, rural Chenoa, IL.

While studying at Hesston College she met the love of her life, David Schrag.  They were married at her parent’s home in Milford, NE on November 7, 1945.   David preceded her in death on April 15, 2005 in Moundridge, KS.

Survivors include three daughters, Anita (George) Lehman, Bluffton, OH, Christine (Dan) Diener, Goshen, IN, Jana (Rusty) Schopp, Bloomington, IL; and two sons, Mark (Nancy) Schrag, Homer, AK and Scott Schrag, Moundridge, KS.  Wilda is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Andrea (Tyson) Goings, Bluffton, OH, Ross (Allison) Lehman, Kansas City, KS, Meredith Lehman, North Newton, KS, Katrina Diener and Nancy (Aaron) Bontrager of Goshen, IN, Ben (Chrissy) Diener, Greenfield, IN, Hannah (Anders) Gustafson, Homer, AK, Logan (Rachel) Manser, San Marcos, CA, Maggie (Hugh) Hurst, St. Louis, MO, Bryan (Erin) Clark, Winfield, KS, Kim Schrag and Katie (Max Pierson) Schrag, McPherson, KS.  There are also 15 great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Maxine Schrag, Moundridge, KS.

Wilda was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; grandson, Eric David Schopp; and eight siblings.

She was committed to a life of service through her career as a registered nurse and her life-time membership in the local and world-wide Mennonite Church.  Wilda and David served in a variety of volunteer activities throughout their marriage, including two years with Mennonite Central Committee in Paraguay, South America.  Wilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gregory Claire Lewis, 66, of Galva, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born on October 19, 1954 in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Howard “Pat” and Wilma (Reed) Lewis.

Greg was a lifelong Canton-Galva resident, where he graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1972.

He was united in marriage to Loretta “Lorrie” Burris on May 29, 1980.  She survives of the home.

He spent his adult life working in the oil field.  Greg retired early in order to follow Lorrie and have many traveling nursing adventures.

Other survivors include his son, Ian Lewis PhD of Lawrence; sister, Joni Webster of Galva; and his beloved animals, Maxwell P. Puppycat and Charlie K. Kittykat.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Wilma Lewis; sisters, Cheri Kay and Patty Ann; and nephew, Wesley W. Webster.

Greg loved his home and family deeply.  He had many adventures on his motorcycle, was a voracious reader and was always ready to travel somewhere new.

Cremation is planned with graveside services to be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Empire Cemetery, Galva, Kansas.  Following the service, the family is inviting guests for light refreshments and remembrance of Greg at the Lewis residence. He was born on October 19, 1954 in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Howard “Pat” and Wilma (Reed) Lewis.Greg was a lifelong Canton-Galva resident, where he graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1972.He was united in marriage to Loretta “Lorrie” Burris on May 29, 1980. She survives of the home.He spent his adult life working in the oil field. Greg retired early in order to follow Lorrie and have many traveling nursing adventures.Other survivors include his son, Ian Lewis PhD of Lawrence; sister, Joni Webster of Galva; and his beloved animals, Maxwell P. Puppycat and Charlie K. Kittykat.Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Wilma Lewis; sisters, Cheri Kay and Patty Ann; and nephew, Wesley W. Webster.Greg loved his home and family deeply. He had many adventures on his motorcycle, was a voracious reader and was always ready to travel somewhere new.Cremation is planned with graveside services to be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Empire Cemetery, Galva, Kansas. Maida M. Laughlin, 87 of Canton, died August 5, 2021 at Via Christi Ascension St. Francis, Wichita.  She was a retired school teacher for Canton-Galva USD #419 and a lifelong Canton area resident.

She was born October 23, 1933 in Canton, the daughter of Charlie and May (Harman) Tinsley.  On December 18, 1960 she was united in marriage to Thomas Laughlin in Canton.  They were the parents of two children, Penny and Chuck.  Tom preceded her in death on January 20, 2008.

Maida was a faithful member of the Canton United Methodist Church, Dizzy Dames EHU, Farm Bureau and was a former 4-H leader and member of the Grange.  

Survivors include her children, Penny Chapman and husband, Tod and Chuck Laughlin, all of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Galen Tinsley and wife Delaine, Canton; her grandchildren, Brooks and Regan Chapman, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  A brother, Alvin Tinsley and a sister, Bonnie Tinsley Russell preceded her in death.

Services are pending and will be announced later by Olson's Mortuary, Canton.

She was born April 20, 1992 the daughter of Mark Allison and Melanie Hannah.&nbsp; A longtime resident of the Kingman community, she was a caregiver.

Everett Warren Johnson, 83, of Lindsborg, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at his home.&nbsp; He was born October 10, 1937, the son of Arvid and Martha (Nichols) Johnson.

He married Anna L. Pauls on July 15, 1962. They met on a blind date and were married for fifty-eight years. &nbsp;To this union were born two children: Randi Jean and Jane Ann.

Everett owned and operated RJ Construction.

He attended Sunset Bible Chapel in Salina for many years.&nbsp; Everett was a member of the Roxbury Lion’s Club and served on the Bonneville Township board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Anna.

He is survived by his two daughters, Randi Gifford and Jane Yount (husband Greg), four grandchildren: Lisa (husband Damon) Sewell, Matthew, Joshua, and Andrea Yount, as well as two great grandchildren, Elijah and Lilyanna Sewell, plus one on the way; and two brothers, Marvin (Donna) Johnson and Bruce (Sharon) Johnson.

Janet Lou Johnson, 69, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:53 a.m., Saturday, April 4th, while in the company of family members, at her home.

Janet was born in Lindsborg, Kansas on March 22, 1951, a daughter of Esther Adelia (Erickson) Ebling and Jack Walton Ebling.

Janet attended Elvings Country School, near Lindsborg, Kansas and graduated from Lindsborg Rural High School, Lindsborg, Kansas in 1969. She then attended Brown Mackie Business School, Salina, Kansas where she received her Business Degree.

She was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church rural McPherson, where she was a member of WELCA and served her church in many other capacities.

Janet worked for Colonial Savings in Salina, Kansas before her marriage. After her marriage, she worked for Pioneer Savings and Loan Company, worked for USD 418 as an aide and worked for Central Plastics in the shipping department. She was the New Gottland Lutheran Church secretary for about 20 years. Janet was also a homemaker and farmwife and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.

Janet enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Janet Lou Ebling was united in marriage to Marvin W. Johnson on July 28, 1979 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together on the Johnson family farm rural McPherson. They were blessed with the birth of daughter, Jamie.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 40 years, husband Marvin Johnson, of McPherson, Kansas; her daughter, Jamie Tautwein and husband Taner of Lindsborg, Kansas; her sister, Mary Jean Peterson and husband Eugene, of Lindsborg, Kansas; her sister-in-law, Caren Ebling, of Lindsborg, Kansas; her four favorite grandchildren, Adison Trautwein, Audrey Trautwein, Aspen Trautwein, and Ayvie Trautwein.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Kent Ebling and her stepfather, Raymond "Pete" Elmquist.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Gottland Lutheran Church with Pastor Laura Smith officiating.

Private family graveside service will be at the Elmwood Cemetery Lindsborg, KS.

They were married for 5 years. He drove Long Haul Trucks, being self employed with his own fleet. Larry and Ellen came to Pratt from Admire, KS and have been in residence for the past year. He enjoyed Building custom motorcycles. He rode them all over the states and started riding at age 12. Mary Anne Kline, 88, of Hays, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Via Christi Village Care Center Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born August 12, 1932 in Marion, Virginia to Raymond V. and Elizabeth A. (Wolfe) Taylor.&nbsp; She married Gerald R. Kline on April 24, 1952 in LaCrosse, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on January 12, 2012.

Mary Anne was employed at Southwestern Bell for 32 yeas as an operator and draft clerk.

She retired in 1989 and was a AT &amp; T Pioneer Life Member.&nbsp; She grew up in Marion, VA and was a 1949 graduate of Marion High School.&nbsp; She moved to Hays in 1973 from La Crosse, Kansas.&nbsp; Mary Anne enjoyed playing cards, cooking, reading, going to the casinos, and loved the ocean and spending time with her family.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include her son, Mike Kline, Hays, KS; daughters, Debbie Leiker and husband, Ron, Lyons, KS; Susan Willming and husband, Kent, Hays, KS; four grandchildren, Lachelle Spann and Shawn; Latasha Southern and Bryce; Brett Leiker and Lisa Hagley; Brian and Kalie Leiker; the grandchildren, Nicole Spann, Austin Spann, Kelsi Spann; Brock Southern; Ashley Leiker, Brayden Leiker, Aubrey Leiker, Brody Leiker, Jade Leiker, Lexi Leiker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her brother, Raymond “Sonny” Taylor Jr. and her sister, Carolyn Young.&nbsp;
