Elsie Beth Macklin, 83, died October 5, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born July 5, 1938, in Hillsboro, to Rudolf Henry and Lillian B. (Janke) Nickel.
Elsie graduated from high school in California, and received her associate’s degree from Hutchinson Community College. After 24 years of service, she retired from the Hutchinson Police Department as their main desk clerk. Elsie enjoyed collecting antiques and was a gifted photographer, taking pictures all over the state of Kansas, from wheat to tractors to sunsets. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
Elsie is survived by: daughter, Gina Meinen (Duane) of Maricopa, AZ; grandchildren, Timothy Miller of Apache Junction, AZ, Karla Meinen of Phoenix, AZ, SSG Tye Meinen of Fort Riley, Mathew Kelman (Jenna) of Hutchinson, and Molly Wilhaus (Clinton) of Nickerson; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister; and a daughter, Karen Kelman.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with The Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel.
