Greg Martin, 65, of Hutchinson, passed September 27, 2021, at his home. He was born November 11, 1956, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Harold Martin and Lavon (Hilton) Barkley.

Greg worked various jobs for T.E.C.H, Inc.

He is survived by: mother, Lavon Barkley of Camargo, OK; sisters, Sue Meeker, Lea Sage (JC Stockton), both of Camargo, OK; brothers, Jeremy Barkley (Nalani) of Mooreland, OK, Jarrod Barkley (Amy) of McAllister, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jayne Barkley and Candace Hess.

She was born in Newton, Kansas to Eugene and Janice McVicar. She was a life long resident of Sedgwick, Kansas. She graduated from Sedgwick High School and Cosmetology school. She enjoyed going to garage sales and  her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Joe Pat White, co-founder of White’s Foodliner, was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Faulkner, Kansas to Jack and Mildred Justice White.  He passed away after a short illness on Sept. 27, 2021.

Joe spent his youth in Dodge City, Kansas and graduated from Dodge City High School in 1944.  He was an Eagle Scout and played varsity football and basketball.  He was on the 1942 undefeated Dodge City High football team.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation and served in the Pacific Theater.  After his discharge, he enrolled and graduated from Dodge City Junior College, attended the University of Kansas for a semester and graduated from the University of Denver in Colorado.  During his time in Jr. College he me the love of his life, Frances Arlene Ewy, and they were married on Sept. 10, 1950.  Joe sold insurance (and hated it) for Cimarron Insurance and Frances continued her position as office manager/head bookkeeper for McKinley-Winter Livestock Co.  In 1953, Joe and Frances took a leap of faith and purchased a small grocery store in Coldwater, KS, and began raising their family.  In 1971, they purchased a store in Cimarron, KS and in 1974 a store in Kingman, KS.  In 1974, they moved to Kingman and lived there most of their lives, with short stints in Dodge City and Wichita.  In 2016, as Frances’ dementia advanced she moved to Presbyterian Manor in Wichita; Joe followed two weeks later.  After Frances’ death in February 2019, at the age of 94 and his disdain for Coved rules at Presbyterian Manor, Joe moved back to a duplex in Kingman where he could eat lunch at his favorite restaurant, Jeri’s Kitchen, with his dear friend and attorney Ted Geisert and they could discuss and solve ALL the world’s problems.  Joe was a former member of the Coldwater Presbyterian Church and served the board of the church and member of the Kingman United Methodist Church.  He was a Scoutmaster and leader and was a past President of the Kansas Food Dealers Association.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Frances, his daughter Melody Davenport, baby son Jack Henry, grandson Joe Douglas Davenport and his brother Jack.

Survivors include his sons Pat (Tonya) of Kingman, Michael of Afton, OK, Jay of Valencia, Spain, sister Nancy Sherer, a brother in law Orlan Buller, grandsons Jordan, Brennan, Cale and Conner White, granddaughters Karly and Caitlyn White, great-grandchildren, Moxie, Oliver, Videl, Murphy and Arlo White and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Kingman United Methodist Church, on Monday, Oct. 4, at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be at the Livingston Funeral Home Sunday, Oct. 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Kingman Carnegie Library and Kingman Rural Health Center both in care of Livingston Funeral Home.

Edward S. Cox, 88, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. Ed was born May 30, 1933, in Aline, OK, the son of Ralph E. and Olive G. (Morgan) Cox.&nbsp;&nbsp; He graduated from Abbyville High School in 1951.&nbsp; He graduated from Pittsburg State and Tulsa Engineering where he received his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. &nbsp;Ed was a Civil Engineer contractor.&nbsp; &nbsp; On September 29, 1959, he married Patricia McGuire in Hutchinson. They later divorced.&nbsp; On September 1, 1961, he married Mary Jolene Quimby in Tulsa, OK.&nbsp; She died on December 24, 2018. During his long career as a civil engineer, Ed supervised the construction of many large buildings in Kentucky and Texas, including work on the USAA Home Office Building in San Antonio, which was at one time the largest office building complex in the US. He made his home in San Antonio for the last several decades, where they were active members of the St&nbsp;Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church&nbsp;in their neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; step-daughter, Cheryl Watson; granddaughter, Kasha Horvath and great-great granddaughter, Rachel Townsend. Ed is survived by his daughter, Randi (Jon Larson) Jandt; brother, John Cox; sister, Helen G. Cox; granddaughter, Kim Scott; five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild due in March. Jerry’s life began on December 9, 1931, in Humboldt. He was the son of Maynard and Hazel (Brooks) Puckett. Jerry is a graduate of Humboldt High School. He worked for many years as a welder on tank farms and throughout the oil industry.

Jerry was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed Motocross and riding four wheelers. He raced dirt track cars in Chanute and loved anything with four wheels and a motor. Jerry also enjoyed his CB radio and talking to all his CB friends.

His greatest joy was his family which includes his children Jerry A. (Sandra) Puckett, Jr. of Whitewater, Rick (Deanna) Puckett of Newton, and Tony Puckett of Kingwood, TX; grandchildren Brandon Puckett, Janie (Danny) Becker, Shelby (Tyler) Schroeder, Bailey Puckett, Sophie Puckett, Scout Puckett, and Drew Puckett; and great grandchildren Conner, Makenzie, Rylee, Makilynn, Keaton, Ryker, Ripley, Jonathan, Levi, and Brayden.

Jerry passed away on Tuesday September 28, 2021, at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. He is preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter Carlee and siblings Blaine Puckett and Jerriene Puckett.

John W. Redden, 80, of Goessel, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Bethesda Home.&nbsp; He was born February 3, 1941 in Galena, the son of Jesse Wallace and Winnie Alice (Garner) Redden.

He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1961-1962.&nbsp; He attained the rank of Fireman Apprentice (FA).

John worked as a truck driver for Industrial Steel and Dusenbery Trucking in Wichita.

He was a longtime member of the Canton community, before moving to Goessel, where he resided for the last fifteen years.&nbsp;

John was an excellent craftsman.&nbsp; He lived close by the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, where he would volunteer and help with historical events.&nbsp; John was very proud of his Native American heritage and was associated with the Mid-America All-Indian Center in Wichita.

He is survived by his friend, Keven and Debra Hiebert and their family in Newton.&nbsp; John was a part of the family and would spend time with the Hiebert’s on holidays and often helped as a farm hand.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery in the committal shelter, Winfield, with military honors.

Alice Faye Eveland, 79, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born in Arvin, California to Elijah and Zona (Martin) Woody. She had 3 sisters and 4 brothers growing up. Her family moved from California to Florida working their crops in between. She grew up in a strict pentacostal home with a loving family.&nbsp; She married the love of her life, Norman Dwain Eveland on August 4, 1958. They together had four children, Christine Ruckle, Diana (Eddie) Burkholder, Jerry (Janis) Eveland and Norma (Roy) Snodgrass.

Alice wore many hats being a doctor who could fix anything, a chef who could create so many wonderful meals, a hairstylist who gave the whole family hair cuts, a counselor and a shoulder to lean on.

She raised her family in Kansas with love and laughter.&nbsp; Momma loved her family dearly and always organized Sunday brunch to keep everyone close together. She loved the holidays dearly. Sadly in 2006 her husband of 47 years , Dwain, passed on to heaven. She also is preceded by her daughter Christine Ruckle.

In February of 2011, she met a loving life partner who she went on life adventures with. They loved to go to casinos, camping and sometimes they would just get in the car and drive. Together they had 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. These kids gave her great joy and happiness watching them grow. Alice was our world, our rock, our foundation and our glue. Nothing can replace the love she gave us as a family. Her words … “Stand still and give it to God.”

He and his wife opened their business in 2000 - MasterTech Transmissions, Inc. &nbsp;He had over 45 years of experience, training and love in transmissions and automotive. His other treasure and love was his family and spending time with them.

Michael is survived by his wife Cheryl; daughter Lisa and son Josh (Jennifer); grandchildren Bailee, Caleb, Madison, Dominic, Luke, Karlie, Linken and Ripkin; great grandchildren Roman, Kyleigh and Colter; dad Mike Sparkman, mother Kay &amp; Bill Preston.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his brothers Danny and Stephen.

Mr. Stewart was born November 20, 1952 to the late Clifford and Helen Barnett Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Daryl Stewart, Buck Stewart and Darlene McCurry.

Mr. Stewart, a native of Hutchinson, was retired after 25 years of service as a firefighter in Kansas. He was a member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church.

On August 15, 2015, Ted started “On Fire Ministries”. With the Lord’s help the first meeting was held at the Coffee County Jail. This Ministry truly has been a blessing from the Lord. Ted moved to Georgia from Kansas in 2008 with his wife of 34 years, Roberta (Bobbi) D. Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta "Bobbi" Wilkin Stewart of Douglas, GA; three children, Lisa Tenille Liles of Colorado Springs, CO, Matthew Hamilton Stewart of Lawrence, and Ryan Scott Stewart of Haven; sister, Barbara Hamilton of Haven, brother, Larry Stewart of Hutchinson; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Laurel Cemetery.&nbsp; Following the services, there is a luncheon at the Haven Community Center, 215 S Reno St. Ave., Haven 67543.&nbsp;

Marilyn Dobbs McClellan, 78, passed away September 26, 2021, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; She was born September 29, 1942, in LaPort, IN, to William Harlan and Kathleen L. (Schlaefer) Dobbs.

Marilyn graduated from Concord High School, Elkhart, IN.&nbsp; She was employed by Social Rehabilitation Services and worked in the office for 20 years.&nbsp; Marilyn enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

On June 29, 1985, she married Gary McClellan, in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; They shared over 36 years of marriage.

Michael Martin McMahon, 77, passed away September 26, 2021, at his home in Inman. He was born June 28, 1944, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of William Martin and Christine Marie Scanlon McMahon. He was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School, Niagara Fall, NY and graduated from Syracuse University with his master’s degree in Biochemistry. Michael was a microbiologist and in medical sales in New York. For 25 years he was a missionary in China as an English teacher, moving to Inman one year ago. He was a member of Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church.

He married Janet Lynn Corti on June 5, 1982 in Geneva, New York. She survives of the home.

He was born on April 6, 1962 in Sidney, NE., the son of Dean A. and Jannette L. (Krueger) Meyer. Todd graduated from Sidney High School in 1981. He was a resident of St. John. Todd loved horses and rodeo. He was a measurement technician senior for ONEOK, a custom harvester and a truck driver. R.E. “Ed” Craig, 95, died Sept. 26, 2021 in Wichita.

He was born Aug. 22, 1926, on a farm outside Earlton, Kansas the son of Herschel and Mary Taylor Craig. Ed spent his childhood growing up in Independence and Sublette, Kansas.

He lived through the Dust Bowl growing up in Sublette and traveled the Midwest in Swing/dance bands in the 1940’s.  Teaching band for nearly 40 years, Ed was inducted into the Kansas Music Educators Hall of Fame in 1993.  Well respected by his students and peers across Kansas, he lead many great concert and marching bands with superior ratings through the years.  During his 30 years as director of the instrumental music program at Kingman, his band program grew from 40 to 275 musicians.  The Kingman band was invited to perform for many special clinics and workshops throughout Kansas and the Midwest.  Craig served as state chairman for the ASBDA, state president for Phi Beta Mu, state president for the KBA, and board member for KMEA.  He received the KAA-phi Beta Mu Outstanding Bank Director Award, the Kingman Jaycee Award as the Outstanding Young Teacher, the Mac Award, and honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi.  He also had a successful second career as a Financial Planner for Waddell and Reed.

On Sept. 26, 1947, he married Glenna Killion in Neodesha, Kansas; she survives.  Other survivors include sons Kit and Tiger (Marilyn) Craig; daughter Candy (Jim) Ashcraft; grandchildren Diane and Kenton Ashcraft, Emma Craig, Miles, Jared and Natalie Craig; and great-grandchildren Ethan Pearson and Evan Ashcraft.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m,. Friday, at the Kingman United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Livingston Funeral Home.  Covid protocol and the use of masks is highly encouraged.  Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Leon H. Winter 89, died Sept. 26, 2021 in Kingman.

He was born May 28, 1932, at Nashville, Kansas the son of Walter Harold and Matilda Naasz Winter.  A longtime Kingman resident, previously of Wichita, he was a retired aviation electrician for Cessna and Learjet.

Leon was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Wichita; and was a longtime Boy Scout Master.

On Dec. 11, 1954, he married Shirley Hodson at Nashville, Kansas; she survives.  Other survivors include four sons, Michael, Mark, Rick and Dennis; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Serna; a brother Lawrence; sisters Louise Smith and Rosalie Goertzen; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 8, 1930, at Kingman the daughter of Chester and Sarah Josephine Spotts.  A lifetime resident of Kingman, she was a homemaker.

On Oct. 19, 1947, she married Ray H. Flicker at Kingman; he died Sept. 4, 2002.  Survivors include a sister Norma Dodge and her husband Frank; nephews Dallas and Lial Dodge; nieces Deb Benson and Sandra Goetz; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by a sister Mildred Lee.

Franklin Eugene Lunsford, 67, passed away on September 23, 2021 at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas.  He was born on April 17, 1954 the son of Stanley and Laura ( Sneary) Lunsford.  Franklin attended Bazine, Kansas high school.  He joined the United States Navy and was discharged with military honors.  Franklin loved driving semi trucks, collecting eagle decorations.  He was the baby of his family, and was a dirt track race car driver when he was younger, and both him and his Mother were Nascar fans.  Franklin would do anything for his family, he was caring and loved his family.

Survivors include:  his wife, Tammie; daughter, Laura Hooker; son, Christopher Lunsford; stepsons, James ( Bonnie) and David Sharp, and Nathan Tacy; stepdaughter, Melissa ( Stuart) Janzen, several grandchildren; brothers, David ( Vicki) Lunsford of Kansas City and Terri ( Janet) Lunsford of Parsons, Ks; sister, Frances ( Rick) Shorr of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kendrick " Buddy" Davis, 33, passed away at his home on September 21, 2021.  He was born on April 5, 1988 in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Delilah and Tim Davis.  Kendrick was a big guy that loved to cook and eat.  He loved woodworking, he was a compassionate, caring, kind teddy bear who gave the best hugs.  He loved spending time with his niece and nephews.

Kendrick is survived by his parents, Tim Davis and Delilah Davis; brother, Koleton Davis ( Kacy Ediger); sisters, Katrina Krase and Kameo Okikawa     (Robert); nephews, Braydon Krase, Keaton Nafzinger, Logan Krase and Kamden Davis; niece, Natalie Nafzinger; grandparents, Burns Teague and Judy Davis; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kendrick is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Davis;  and grandmothers, Leona Teague and Dorothy Davis.

Buddy is a treasure to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

John R. Samuelson 98, died September 19, 2021 at his Newton residence.&nbsp; He was born July 5, 1923 in Page City (Logan County) Kansas to Anton and Anna (Peterson) Samuelson.&nbsp; On March 3, 1973 he married Dorothy (Rogers) Brown at Salina, Kansas and she preceded him in death on June 10, 2001.

John served his county in the United States Army during WWII where among other distinctions and stories of war time he shared, he got to change the oil on General Patton’s jeep.

He was a graduate of Page City High School and graduated with a Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. While at Fort Hays he played basketball and was the homecoming king. John’s working years he was a teacher and principal in Northwest Kansas schools, where he also coached football and basketball.&nbsp; He retired from the Russell, Kansas school system.

John was a lifelong Lutheran until he married Dorothy and moved to Newton where he became a longtime active member of the Salem United Methodist Church.&nbsp; He was an avid news watcher, enjoyed fishing and played golf in his younger years. John was also known as an outstanding wood worker.

His greatest joy was his family and he was an outstanding Dad and Grandpa. He kept in contact with his family remembering birthdays and special holidays with a phone call or card.&nbsp; As a people person John also enjoyed his time with his friends visiting and catching up with each other’s lives.

He is survived by his daughter Kay Dey; granddaughter Carly Webb; step-daughters: Denise Brown and Marilyn Brown; step-son Steve Brown; 16 grandchildren and many beloved great grandchildren.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; daughter Mona Jimenez and 5 brothers.

Shirley L. Andsager, 83, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Wesley Towers Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson, KS. 

Shirley was born January 12, 1938, in Plevna, KS, the daughter Harold J. and Lillian N. (Lenz) Brosius. She graduated from Plevna High School in 1956. Shirley was employed in the medical and insurance field and retired after 40 years in the early childhood education and development field. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

 Shirley loved to do crossword puzzles, playing cards and Mexican Train dominos with her friends. She also loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harold, Jack and Jimmy Brosius, sisters, Jeanne Smith, Joyce Nusser, Virginia Lail, and Joan Crisafi. Shirley is survived by her son, Kevin D. Andsager, daughter, Kim D. Williams, brothers, John, Bill, and Tom Brosius, five grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, making flower arrangements, spending time with her family and volunteering for her church. She was a devoted housewife and a very loving stay at home mom. Alice’s life began on September 11, 1929 the daughter of Donald and Gladys (Carver) Sitler in Frankfort, Kansas. She graduated from El Dorado High Class of 1947 and married Herbert C. Dyck on November 28, 1948 on the family farm in Whitewater.

Alice was a homemaker and a secretary for 16 years at Missouri Baptist Hospital from where she retired. She loved genealogy, politics and the churches she attended – United Methodist Churches in Washington, Kansas and Manchester, Missouri. She was an excellent cook and was willing to try any new recipe and accomplish it to perfection. After retirement she taught French in the grade school and took in eleven exchange students.

Her loving family includes her sons, Frederick Dyck of Cameron, Missouri, Justin Dyck, Nathan Dyck (Julie) all of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Christine Sehnert of Whitewater, Deborah Blackwell of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert in 2012; daughter, Marie Gunn; siblings, Joyce Burkhart and Lyle Sitler. Alice passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the age of 92 years old.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 1t 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Washington, Kansas.

John F. Dalke, 87, passed away on September 24, 2021 at Hillsboro Community Hospital. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Hillsboro Kansas to A.H. and Doris Foster Dalke. He attended Hillsboro schools and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1952. In high school, John was active in FFA and played football, and his senior quote was “My hobby is mechanics.” He enjoyed hunting and other outdoor activities and spending time with his boys helping with their activities including coaching baseball and helping with Boy Scouts. He took the Boy Scouts camping and helped them build race cars for the Pinewood derby. According to his sons, he was the one to ride with to Sunday School, because he drove so fast. According to his grandson, Tyler, he made the best pickles in the world.

John served his country in the United States Army in Germany. He continued service with the Army Reserves and upon leaving the military, John had achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

John married Delores Penner Dalke on May 12, 1962 in Wichita, KS. They had 3 children, John Owen Dalke, Mark Gregory Dalke and Matthew Erik Dalke. John and Delores were married 59 years.

After the military, John became a truck driver and mechanic for AMPI delivering Baskin Robbins ice cream. He became such good friends with the people whom he delivered the ice cream to, that he and Delores were often invited to weddings, anniversaries and sporting events of the customer’s family members. He was later promoted to transportation manager and especially enjoyed working alongside his brother, Jim.

John was preceded in death by his parents, AH and Doris Dalke; his in-laws Julius and Martha Penner; his son, John O. Dalke; his brothers, Paul and James; his sister, Mary; and a brother-in- law, Larry Hamm. He is survived by his wife, Delores, his sons Mark (Pat) Dalke of Hillsboro and Matt (Jamey) Dalke of Chapman, his grandchildren, Reagan and Tyler Dalke and his step grandchildren.

His family will gather with friends on Tuesday, September 28, from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home. Michael James “Mike” Swope, 53, died Sept. 24, 2021 in Wichita.

He was born January 11, 1968, in Wichita the son of George A. and Theresa Zandler Swope.  A longtime Zenda resident moving to Kingman in 2015, he was an extrusion operator for FabPro.

Mike was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman.

On April 21, 2008, he married Irish Paraculles.  Other survivors include sons Jarid Swope and Jacob Swope; daughters Michelle Irish Swope and Macy Lee Swope; his mother Theresa; brothers Dale, Tim, Daniel and Joel; sisters Carol Thimesch, Roxanne Mahnesmith and Cheryl Swope.  He was preceded in death by his father George.
