Sandra "Sandy" Sue Mills, 60, of Hesston, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at her home. She was born on August 22, 1961 in Newton, the daughter of Alvin R. Jr. and Catherine (Wherrell) Schmidt.
Sandy was a member of the Christ Tabernacle Church in Newton.
She was a CNA for Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Schowalter Villa in Hesston and Bethesda Home in Goessel, retiring in 2009.
Sandy was united in marriage to David C. Mills on June 21, 1997 in Newton.
Sandy loved to crochet in her spare time. She enjoyed baking and was known for making the best brownies. Above all, she loved spoiling her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her mother, Catherine Schmidt of Hesston; siblings, Daniel (Carol) Schmidt of Haysville, LaDena Self of Hesston, Sonia (Brad) Buchta of Halstead, and Jerry (MariShawn) Schmidt of Hillsboro; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, David; father, Alvin Schmidt Jr.; and nephew, Brent Dickerson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston. Burial will follow at Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 13 at the funeral home.
