Erma Lee Garber Goering passed away on September 20, 2021.&nbsp; Erma was born to Daniel J Garber and Elma Aeschbacher Garber on February 23, 1931 on the family farm near Versailles, Missouri.&nbsp; Erma loved being outdoors and interacting with her three brothers D. Clifford, Vernon, and Laurel, and her sister Lydia.&nbsp; She enjoyed fishing in the farm pond, watching birds, gardening, and music. &nbsp; Erma attended Morgan County Public Schools, and on May 19, 1949 she graduated from Versailles High School.&nbsp; Upon her confession of faith, Erma was baptized on April 12, 1944 by the Rev. Howard Raid at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Fortuna, MO, where she was a lifelong member.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Erma attended Bluffton College in Bluffton Ohio before beginning work as a secretary for most of her adult life.

In the late 1960s she moved to Newton, where she lived until her marriage to Wilbert “Toby” Goering on July 27, 1985, at which time she moved to Moundridge.&nbsp; All of a sudden she not only became a wife, but also a stepmother and grandmother.&nbsp; After becoming part of the Goering family, Erma joined Toby in attending Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition to following the stock&nbsp; market, Erma continued to enjoy gardening, fishing, bird watching, and travelling around the United States with Toby after her retirement.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Erma is survived by three step children, Janice Johnson (Merlyn) of Greeley, CO,&nbsp; Sharon Regehr (Duane) of Hesston, &amp; Barb Goering (Joe Smucker) of Newton, two former daughters-in-law Carol Goering of Hutchinson and Ailene Amador of Hutchinson, ten step grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Daniel and Elma, her husband, Toby Goering, brothers D. Clifford, Vernon, &amp; Laurel, her sister, Lydia Lehman, stepson Larry Goering, grandchild Kerry Johnson, and great grandchild Sierra Issel.

A brief service of remembrance will take place at&nbsp; 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021&nbsp; in the Eden Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall with visitation following until 8:00 pm.&nbsp; Masks are required.

Master Chief Petty Officer Navy ‘SEAL’ Douglas Jack McNutt, 56, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away September 12, 2021, at his home. 

He was born February 3, 1965, in Lyons, Kansas, the son of Earl Henry McNutt and Nancy Lucinda “Cindy” Heter McNutt. Doug has resided in Sterling since 2015, formerly of Coronado, California. He graduated from Sterling High School with the class of 1983, where he led the football team undefeated to the State Championship. Doug was a retired United States Navy ‘SEAL’, where he served for 30 years. He enjoyed nature walks, exercising, meditation, especially at Quivira National Refuge, and most of all spending quality time with those close to him. Doug was a member of the Native American Church and served on the Board of Directors for OMS Church. On August 23, 1989, Doug was married to Mary Lee Kelly in San Diego, California. They later divorced. On January 1, 2004, Doug was married to Loranne Miller in Sterling. They later divorced. He is survived by his two sons, Tom McNutt and Scott McNutt and wife Bethany all of Sacremento, CA; daughter, Sophia McNutt and fiancé Moe both of Bowie, MD; brother, Bradley Earl McNutt and wife Pam of Wichita, KS; sister, Emily Kay McNutt of Woodstock, NY; uncle, Bob Heter and wife Nancy of Sterling; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close lifelong friends and brothers in service. He is preceded in death by his parents; and uncle, Bill Heter.

Marjorie Wandel, 84, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.

Marjorie was born April 13, 1937, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Theodore R. and Doris V. (Troy) Carson. On July 10, 1955, she married Michael L. Trotter in Hutchinson. He died on April 18, 1967. She married James C. Wandel on May 7, 1993 in Hutchinson. He died on June 22, 2012. She was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson and was a homemaker. Marjorie was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Michael Trotter and James Wandel; a son, Michael Trotter; three brothers, Robert Carson, Roger Carson and George Carson; a sister, Diana Wilkinson and a granddaughter, Stephanie Trotter.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Annette Russett and Nola (Kevin) Doering; a step-daughter, Lynda (James) Johnson; a sister, Mildred Swain; three grandchildren, Nathan (Amber) Looney, Jaklynn (Nathan) Welker and Seth Russett; two step-grandchildren, Mandy (Lidia) Johnson-Lopez and Jennifer Johnson and seven great-grandchildren.

Scott Edwin Neher, 56, died September 18, 2021, at his home. He was born February 11, 1965, in Pittsburg, to Doyle H. and Sharon K. (Bailey) Neher.

Scott worked as a maintenance technician at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson for 34 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and camping. Scott was a member of the Amateur Radio Association and Maranatha Mennonite Church.

On March 25, 1989, he married Linda Ruth Boese in South Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Christopher Neher (Savana) of Hutchinson, Katelyn Harmon (Dustin) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Shiloh Neher and Seriniti Harmon; parents, Doyle and Sharon Neher of Pfeifer; siblings, Steve Neher (Jolene) of Lawrence, Vicki Stoll (Dave) of Collinsville, OK, Pam Hernandez (Marcelo) of Branson, MO, Jeff Neher (Jesica) of Pfeifer; and numerous extended family members.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Maranatha Mennonite Church, 3115 Blanchard SW, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Delores Ann Gouge was born February 18, 1938 in rural Huron County, Michigan. Her parents were Alfred H. and Verna Dietzel.

Delores graduated from Pigeon High School in 1956. Delores got her LPN license a few years later in LaJunta, Colorado. A man named Dewey Gouge worked in the laundry of the hospital where Delores did her clinical work. He swept her off her feet. Her first job was in the same hospital she received her training.

Dewey and Delores were married November 29, 1959. In 1963 they moved to Pigeon, Michigan, where they had their first child, Dewey Robert Gouge, Jr. Next they moved to Whitewater, Kansas. On November 23, 1954 a daughter, Debra Cay, was born. Then on November 23, 1965 a second daughter, Pamela Sue, was born. They moved to Buhler in 1969. In 1978 Delores went back to work. She had not renewed her license when they moved to Colorado because the next state said she would need more coursework done. So she took a job as a janitor at Central Christian, the school where her daughters would attend the next year. She worked until Pam was in college. Then to stay active Dewey and Delores took tickets for games at Central. They joined a senior Bible group called Young at Hearts.

Delores enjoyed gardening until she moved to Sunshine Meadows Assisted Living in 2016. She moved to the nursing home in 2019. Her last move was to Heaven to live with her Lord on September 19, 2021.

Delores’s parents preceded her in death, along with her sister, Jeannette Reibling and her husband Edsel, and two of her brothers, Cleason Dietzel and Alfred Dietzel, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Dewey Jr., Debra and Pamela; two brothers, Kenneth Dietzel (Judy) and Gerald Dietzel (Judy); in laws, Louise Dietzel and Georgia Dietzel; and an aunt, Helen Loewen.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Buhler Mortuary.  Burial will follow at Buhler East Cemetery. Lloyd Leeman Fundenberger, 84, of Lyons, passed away September 19, 2021 at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born November 17, 1936, in Lyons, the son of Leeman Ray “L.R.” and Amanda Josephine Barks Fundenberger. Lloyd was a lifelong Lyons resident. He was owner and operator of Fundenberger Construction and Concrete for 60 plus years. Lloyd was a member of the NRA, Rice County Sportsman Club, Liar’s Fishing Club, and the Kansas Bowhunters Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, rebuilding antique cars, and most of all giving candy to all of his grandchildren. On April 23, 1955, Lloyd was united in marriage with Delores Faye Zent in WaKeeney. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his four sons, Vernon Fundenberger and wife Kathy of Sturgis, SD, Steve Fundenberger and wife Francine of Lyons, Eldon Fundenberger and wife Pam of Lyons, and Darren Fundenberger and wife Tammy of Lyons; brother, George C. Fundenberger and wife Ann of Lyons; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Lloyd Leeman Fundenberger |1936-2021|

On Friday September 17, 2021, Edmond Lee Spencer entered Heaven’s Gate. He was born September 12, 1940, and was the son of Willis and Leoma Spencer. He was united in marriage 59 years ago to Carolyn Spencer on May 24, 1962.

Edmond was a long time over the road truck driver with a perfect over 1 million miles incident free driving record. To fellow truckers he was known by his radio CB handle “Rusty Nail.” After trucking, Edmond turned his focus to spending time with his loving wife and supporting his grandchildren in their activities. He could be seen at gymnastic meets, softball games, wrestling meets, football, track, basketball, and school concerts and plays cheering for those that he loved dearly. Edmond has three children Matt Spencer, Edmond (Eddie) Jr, and Becky Fetrow. He was a dad to his “outlaws” Darla Spencer and Kelley Spencer and son in law Bruce Fetrow. His grandchildren and great grandchildren loved him without exception: Dallas wells, Kasey Orlik, Hunter Spencer, Kaylyn Spencer, Dakota Spencer, Shyla Harris, Shyann Harris, Lilliana Salamone-Harris, and Barrett Orlik. Edmond was met in heaven by his loving wife of 59 years, his parents, and a sister.

Edmond could be seen daily at Town &amp; Country Café, which he was part owner, greeting locals, regulars, and having trucker talk with OTR truckers who visited frequently to catch up with him. He served as mayor of Florence and served on numerous boards in town. Edmond loved having family get togethers and was first to serve himself at family meals. He gave love and received love from everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed and always loved.

Edmond’s family will gather with friends on Friday, September 24, 10 a.m. at the Christian Church of Florence, of which he served as an Elder, for his funeral service led by Pastor Mitchel Diemer. He will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence, following the service.

He was united in marriage 59 years ago to Carolyn Spencer on May 24, 1962.Edmond was a long time over the road truck driver with a perfect over 1 million miles incident free driving record. To fellow truckers he was known by his radio CB handle “Rusty Nail.” After trucking, Edmond turned his focus to spending time with his loving wife and supporting his grandchildren in their activities. He could be seen at gymnastic meets, softball games, wrestling meets, football, track, basketball, and school concerts and plays cheering for those that he loved dearly. Edmond has three children Matt Spencer, Edmond (Eddie) Jr, and Becky Fetrow. He was a dad to his “outlaws” Darla Spencer and Kelley Spencer and son in law Bruce Fetrow. His grandchildren and great grandchildren loved him without exception: Dallas wells, Kasey Orlik, Hunter Spencer, Kaylyn Spencer, Dakota Spencer, Shyla Harris, Shyann Harris, Lilliana Salamone-Harris, and Barrett Orlik. Edmond was met in heaven by his loving wife of 59 years, his parents, and a sister.Edmond could be seen daily at Town &amp; Country Café, which he was part owner, greeting locals, regulars, and having trucker talk with OTR truckers who visited frequently to catch up with him. He served as mayor of Florence and served on numerous boards in town. Edmond loved having family get togethers and was first to serve himself at family meals. He gave love and received love from everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed and always loved.Edmond’s family will gather with friends on Friday, September 24, 10 a.m. at the Christian Church of Florence, of which he served as an Elder, for his funeral service led by Pastor Mitchel Diemer. He will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence, following the service.

Ronald Keith Mauck, 71, was born at Newton Medical Center in Newton, to Hoyt and Irene Mauck on October 10, 1949. After being taught about God and living for Christ from infancy, he was baptized into Christ as a teenager and faithfully loved and served the Lord the rest of his life. He graduated from Frederic Remington High School, Whitewater, in 1967. He then attended Oklahoma Christian College for four years and earned a BSE Degree. He taught junior high science classes in Midwest City, Oklahoma from 1971 until 1976, and then he and Ginger moved back to the family farm near Whitewater, Kansas to farm and also work for Ron’s brother, Don, running heavy equipment. Ron was a man of hard work and integrity, always committed to giving his all to what he was doing.

While attending Oklahoma Christian, Ron met Virginia (Ginger) Ann Summers and they were married on August 12, 1972. They were gifted with two children, Tracy Klaassen and Matt Mauck. Time spent with them and the grandchildren were a joy to him. Ron loved spending his spare time riding four wheelers with his grandchildren and friends, hunting, traveling with family and friends, and serving his church.

Ron served as an elder at Northside Church of Christ for 16 years and excelled in welcoming and connecting visitors and members. People were attracted to his joyful nature and genuine care for them. He was so friendly that it seemed like he never met a stranger. Ron died at home on September 19, after valiantly battling a rare neurological disease for 6 years. One of the things Ron missed most these past few years was getting to be out and about seeing and talking to people. Every card, call, meal and visit meant the world to him, especially meals shared with precious friends and the worship services held at the house. Good Shepherd Hospice of Newton was a tremendous source of help and strength to both Ron and Ginger for several months. The staff is very treasured and loved.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Irene Mauck and his step mother Winifred (Claypool) Mauck. Wanda Neyhart Fox died on September 18, 2021 at Salem Home in Hillsboro, at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fox and a brother, Charles Neyhart. She is survived by her brothers, Paul Neyhart of Filer, Idaho, EJ Burke of Crofton, Nebraska, Alvin Burke of Dannebrog, Nebraska, daughter, Malinda Stuchlik (Ken) of Marion,&nbsp; son, Dale Fox (Becky) of Westmoreland, 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was born on December 10, 1933 in Nelson, Nebraska. She graduated from Nelson High School in 1952 and afterward attended Stormont-Vail Nursing School in Topeka. She was united in marriage to John Fox on June 29, 1957 in Beloit, after meeting him when her car broke down due to engine problems. Two years after they were married they moved to Norton,&nbsp; where she was Registered Nurse at Norton County Hospital for 35 years, a job she loved especially when she became a labor and delivery nurse. Upon retirement she moved to Lehigh, to be closer to family and the milder winters. Wanda especially enjoyed traveling to visit family and while belonging to the Kansas Campers and Hikers Association traveled extensively across the country and was involved in many of their activities. She was an avid bowler, gardener and spent many years as a Girl Scout leader. Later in life she enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro,&nbsp; at 10:00. Interment will be immediately following the service at the Glen Elder Cemetery in Glen Elder.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dewey and Delores were married November 29, 1959. In 1963 they moved to Pigeon, Michigan, where they had their first child, Dewey Robert Gouge, Jr. Next they moved to Whitewater. On November 23, 1954 a daughter, Debra Cay, was born. Then on November 23, 1965 a second daughter, Pamela Sue, was born. They moved to Buhler in 1969. In 1978 Delores went back to work. She had not renewed her license when they moved to Colorado because the next state said she would need more coursework done. So she took a job as a janitor at Central Christian, the school where her daughters would attend the next year. She worked until Pam was in college. Then to stay active Dewey and Delores took tickets for games at Central. They joined a senior Bible group called Young at Hearts.

Delores Ann Gouge was born February 18, 1938 in rural Huron County, Michigan. Her parents were Alfred H. and Verna Dietzel.Delores graduated from Pigeon High School in 1956. Delores got her LPN license a few years later in LaJunta, Colorado. A man named Dewey Gouge worked in the laundry of the hospital where Delores did her clinical work. He swept her off her feet. Her first job was in the same hospital she received her training.Dewey and Delores were married November 29, 1959. Benjamin L. Thiessen, 96, died September 19, 2021, at the Reno County Hospice House. He was born at home near Inman, KS, January 31, 1925, the third of eight children, born to Henry D. and Tina (Klaassen)Thiessen.

He married Stella Ann Martens on December 3, 1947, in Inman, KS. They shared almost 64 years together before she passed away on September 11, 2011.

Ben worked as a farmer and in construction. He was a friend to all and loved spending time at coffee but most of all spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The “Littles” were the joy of his life. He enjoyed going to the sale barn, ball games, visiting on the front porch, reading, his bible was often open on the table, and was a dedicated prayer warrior for his family and friends. Ben loved going to rodeos with Stella and later taking grandkids and the whole family. He was the best peppernut baker and shared them with many.

He was a a lifelong member of Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church, where he held many positions through the years.

Lawrence Marion Parsons, 81, died September 17, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born January 12, 1940, in Hays, to George Marion and Nora (Batman) Parsons.

Lawrence graduated from Collyer High School, Collyer, in 1957.&nbsp; He worked in grounds and maintenance for Willowbend Golf Club, Wichita, and Prairie Dunes Country Club, Hutchinson. Lawrence loved watching NASCAR, and especially liked Corvettes.&nbsp; He was a member of the Corvette Club, Hutchinson, and was a HUGE Haven Wildcat basketball fan. Lawrence attended Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, and served in the United States Air Force.

On February 9, 2001, he married Cynthia “Cindy” Kay Ziegler, in Hutchinson.

Lawrence is survived by:&nbsp; wife, Cindy of Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Megan Bland (Justin) of Hutchinson; granddaughters, SenaKay Bland of Rose Hill, Carlee Bland, and Austyn Bland, both of Hutchinson; and brother, Steve Parsons of El Cajon, CA.

marriage to Gary Rosenbach on January 6, 1973. Throughout their marriage
 they lived in several cities and states before moving to her favorite 
location, the farm near Dannebrog. This is where all of her 
passions truly thrived. She was able to share her love of animals, 
especially horses, with her daughters. She spent countless hours sitting
 through riding lessons, going to horse show, and just watching them 
ride. Susan always believed in giving back and served as the Chairperson
 for the Nebraska State 4-H Horse Exposition for many years. Susan 
loved gardening and could get any plant to thrive. She is well-known for
 her floral quality sunflowers and extraordinary garlic and shallots. 
She was even dubbed the “garlic queen.” Susan brought much of her 
produce into the kitchen where she could turn anything into a gourmet 
meal. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t make. She was an avid 
quilter and you could often find her at her machine working on a new 
pattern. She was extremely precise and never started a project without 
reading all the directions first. Some of her favorite quilts were the 
two she made with her grandson. For the last twenty years, she 
worked at Stuhr Museum teaching classes for the education department. 
She truly loved interacting with and teaching kids about what it was 
like to live in the 1890’s. She often said she was going to retire, only
 to say, “well maybe I’ll teach one more time.” Those left to 
cherish her memory are her husband Gary of Dannebrog; two daughters, 
Jamee (Jeff) Bockerman of Hastings and Allison Rosenbach of Grand 
Island; grandsons Brodyn, Hadyn and Hudsyn Bockerman; sister Jody Zink 
of Pratt, Kansas; and niece Hayley Zink of Turon, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her in-laws.

She was a “tell it like it is” person with no filter and many people loved her for that. She loved spending her days doing crossword puzzles, playing computer games, and going to the casino, every chance she got, with her best friend, Vanessa Vallee. Bessie Lou Colvard, 85, of Hutchinson, died September 18, 2021, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie. She was born September 2, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Charles “Harvey” and Edna (Sartain) Voss.

Bessie was retired from Hutchinson Hospital, where she worked in patient accounts. She loved to quilt, embroider, and bake cookies. She also collected Precious Moments and Cherished Teddies. Bessie was a member of Bethany Nazarene Church, Hutchinson.

On December 31, 1951, she married Edwend Leroy “Ed” Colvard, in Sterling. They shared nearly 70 years of marriage, before he passed away on July 30, 2021.

She is survived by: children, Meryl Colvard (Evelyn) of Pretty Prairie, Cameron Colvard (Jana) of Augusta, Cindy Teter (Les) of Buhler; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

Bessie was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Ed Colvard; sister, Helen Voss; brother, Cameron Voss; sisters, Lona Edwards, and Ada Whitney.

Wayne E. Busch passed away on September 18, 2021, at Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kansas.

Wayne was born in Rugby, North Dakota on March 9, 1933 to John and Mary Busch. He finished his education at Minot State Teachers College and began his teaching career in Mott, North Dakota in 1961. He spent his entire career there as a junior high science teacher along with coaching physical education, driver education, and was principal of the junior high.

He was deeply involved at Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as president, treasurer, usher, teacher, and choir member. He continued to support his church even after moving to Omaha to be closer to his family.

Wayne was preceded in death by Joyce, his wife of 44 years, his parents, two sisters, a brother and granddaughter, Beth Lemke. He is survived by his loving daughters: Sharon (Stan) Lemke, Sandra (David) Kern, and Charlene (Stan) Herauf; six grandchildren: Dr. Stephanie Kern Schutte (Kyle), Dr. Jennifer Kern Tracy, Dr. Alysia Kern Lovgren (Jimmy), Amy Lemke, Carrie Lemke, and Derek Herauf; seven great-grandchildren: Melanie, Tyler, Ryan, and Cody Schutte, Brandon and Mariah Tracy; sisters Betty Nelson and Janice Knutson; and brothers Jerry Busch and Philip Busch.

Gary Owen Clarke, 85, of Hutchinson, died September 16, 2021, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. He was born October 5, 1935, in Dodge City, to Owen and Eleanor (Leiker) Clarke.

Gary graduated from Buhler High School in 1954. He then served in the United States Army. Gary retired after 30 years with Sears, working as a warehouse manager and then sales associate. He loved to garden and was known by many as the “watermelon man”. He also enjoyed going to farm sales and auctions.

On July 1, 1955, Gary married Janet Mae Davidson, in Hutchinson. They shared 66 years together.

He is survived by: wife, Janet Clarke, Hutchinson; daughters, Lynette Morris (Toby), Dana Point, California, Cynthia Wise, Overland Park, Pamela Adams (Steve), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Brandon Wise, Olathe, Whittney Wise, Prairie Village, Cheyenne Morris, Dana Point, California, Blaisi Adams, Hutchinson; great-grandchild, Costner Wise; and brother, Ronald Clarke, Lindsborg.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Clarke.

Dale Edward Miller, 75, died September 15, 2021, at Via Christi St. Francis Specialty Hospital, Wichita. He was born October 3, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Frank and Leona (Stucky) Miller.

Dale graduated from Hutchinson High School and then served in the United States Air Force.  After the air force, he worked for Cessna/Eaton as a machinist for 32 years. Dale was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Amvets Post #11, and Westside Baptist Church. 

On May 17, 1986, he married Lynda Jeane (Robinson) Fields, in Hutchinson.

Dale is survived by:  his wife of 35 years, Lynda of Hutchinson; daughters, Koi Law (Brian) of Hutchinson and Karri Kirkendoll (John) of Lawson, MO; son, Jacob Fields of Pretty Prairie; sisters, Joyce Matthew and Shirley Newby; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Sarge; and numerous extended family members and friends.  Dale was well-loved, and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Doris Crawford.

Nancy Marie Graham, 84, passed away September 15, 2021, at her home.  She was born March 7, 1937, in Delphos, KS, to Orlan Raymond and Tossie Marie (Sinclair) Somers.

Nancy was a graduate of Culver High School and worked at Dillon Living Center as a Certified Nurses Aide, retiring with 23 years of service.  She enjoyed quilting and putting jigsaw puzzles together.  Nancy loved her family and supported the activities of her grandkids.  Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

On August 30, 1958, Nancy married Curtis ‘Ray’ Graham, Sr., in Lincoln, KS.  They shared over 47 years of marriage, prior to his death on September 17, 2005.

She is survived by:  children, Keyna (Zach Stinson) Graham and Curtis Graham, Jr.; grandchildren, Loyal Ray (Kylee) Kienzle, Jessica Marie (Kyle) Oyler, Shannon Marie Symonds, Kacie (Martina Saiz) Kienzle, Tyler Eugene Symonds, and Jimmie Doyle Symonds; and great-grandchildren, Railyn Pattinson, Eco Kinast, Lexi Keazer, Konner Cooper, Keanu Kienzle, Mila Kienzle, Iggy Kienzle, and Journey Farrell.

Juanita (Hutchens) Purkey, age 105, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.&nbsp; She was born southeast of&nbsp; Plainfield, Indiana to John Edgar Hutchens and Martha Ann (Dorsett) Hutchens.&nbsp; In early 1920's the family moved to Kansas. On March 2, 1935 she married the love of her life, Victor Gerald Purkey. They made their home on the farm northwest of Valley Center, Kansas ever since.&nbsp;

Juanita was a very hard worker at home, on the farm and also as a riveter for Beechcraft. She also worked at Buck's Department Store as a shipping clerk.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Victor G. Purkey, daughter Vicky L., son-in-law CJ Barber, parents Edgar and Martha Hutchens, siblings Edward Raymond Hutchens, James Howard Hutchens, George Vestal Hutchens and Nellie Isbelle Fry; and many other family as well.&nbsp; She is survived by nieces, nephews, many other family and&nbsp; friends.

Marion Edward ‘Ed’ Bates, 56, was taken from us August 27, 2021. He was born August 5, 1965, in Fort Jackson, SC, to Emmett L. and Betty L. (Wilson) Bates.

Ed graduated from Hutchinson High School and spent two years studying photography and drama at Hutchinson Community College. He worked as a collections agent for NCA for many years, and most recently at Harris &amp; Harris. Ed was an outdoors and survival enthusiast, and the biggest Cheese Head Green Bay Packers fan in town. He loved live music, especially Blues and Rock. Ed had a nickname for everyone and a quick wit. You never knew what he was going to say or write, but he was sure to get a laugh out of you, even if he was the butt of the joke. Ed had a great heart and would do anything to help others, even if they didn't ask for help.

He was married to Lori Hess before they divorced.

Ed is survived by: his mother, Betty of Buhler; brothers, Ken Bates (Karen) of Beaverton, OR, Ron Bates (Sarah) nephew Ross Wilson Bates and great nephew Beau of Haslet, TX; stepson, Damond Flowers of Wichita; stepdaughter, Hailey Ummel of Seattle, WA; and numerous extended family members, including some favorite cousins.

Cremation has taken place at his wish, and a remembrance of Ed’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2021, at Elliott Chapel. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary.

Ed was with a dear friend Phil Anstine, who was taken from this world at the same time. A Celebration of Life party will be held for both at Richman Arboretum, 2801 Dillon Ave., from 6-9 p.m. Monday.

Phillip Duane Anstine, 58, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at his little acreage east of Hutchinson. He was born December 19, 1962, to Duane and Phyllis Anstine.

Phillip is survived by:  his father, Duane; siblings, Melody Weiss, Randy, Robert, Scott and Darin Anstine; bonus sisters, Kate Rudiger (Ric) and Marjean Meeder (Alan); half-brother, Vince Wernsman; half-sisters, Monique Maxa and Cristyl Wernsman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by:  his mother, Phyllis Wernsman; bonus mother, Norma Anstine; and baby sister, Melinda Anstine.

Phillip graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs.  He then entered the military, where he was on active duty for twelve years, followed by six years in the National Guard.  Phillip returned to Hutchinson following his active duty and attended Hutchinson Community College, where he received two associate degrees.

Phillip worked at several positions over the years, but the one he enjoyed the most was at Interfaith Housing, because he could help people in need.  He also really enjoyed being a substitute teacher in the Hutchinson schools.  The many students whose lives he touched always called him “Mr. Sir”.  Phillip made life-long friends from his teaching.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Michael Tomson-DeGreeff officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, and 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  The casket will remain closed.
