Oliver E. “Ollie” Troyer, 86, died October 6, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 16, 1935, in Plain City, OH, to Eli N. and Barbara (Borntrager) Troyer.&nbsp;

Ollie was a dairy farmer for 40 years.&nbsp; He enjoyed welding, working on anything electrical, and genealogy.&nbsp; Ollie loved to visit with people, even strangers, and teasing his grandchildren.

On August 16, 1959, he married Emma Miller, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 62 years of marriage.

Ollie is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Emma of Partridge; children, Joyce Buckels (Matt) of Vincennes IN, Leland Troyer (Mary) of Kennedyville, MD, Karen Miller (Dwight) of Partridge, Marjorie Miller (Sam) of Haven, Wesley Troyer (Stacy) of Kennedyville, MD, and Darrell Troyer (Teresa) of Washington, IN; four brothers; five sisters; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; son, Lavern Jay; and two brothers.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7611 W. Morgan Avenue, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Burial will follow in West Center Cemetery.&nbsp; Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the church.

Wanda L. Pritchett, 92 of Haven, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, Kansas.

Wanda was born July 22, 1929, in Las Animas, Colorado to Harry Ray and Esther M. (Sarah) Bogner.

Wanda married Harold Pritchett.  They later divorced.

Wanda was a homemaker. She worked as a paraprofessional in the Tribune, Kansas schools. She also worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune. Wanda enjoyed watching game shows and her hobbies included cross stitch, quilting and sewing.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Kay Dye; daughter-in-law, Linda (Buckbee) Pritchett; five grandchildren; nieces, Corlis Anderson and Nathalie McKenzie; and nephews, Ray Geffert and Gene Bogner.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sheila Lamm; son, Alan Pritchett; brother, Vernon Bogner, Sr; sister, Nelda Geffert; and a nephew, James Bogner.

Janice Ludene (Schmidt) Holdeman was born on May 2, 1938 to Cornelius and Alverta Schmidt, in rural McPherson County, Kansas. She unexpectedly, but very peacefully left us at Capital Region Medical Center on October 4, 2021, reaching the age of 83.

As a 5-year-old girl they moved to Harvey County, Kansas, attending at Hesston Congregation. She gave her heart to God, and was baptized on November 11, 1950 by Milford Wenger, and was faithful to her vows until death. Being the 5th child in her family, she enjoyed a happy childhood, often walking two miles to Stone School where she received her formal education.

She married her life's companion, Ordo Holdeman, on December 26, 1960. They enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. To this union was born two daughters and one son. She was always very supportive of her husband. The children always knew that she was there for them, whether they were coming home from school, or in ambitions and pursuits later in life.

She enjoyed relatively good health through most of her life. Mom loved keeping a clean house, and really enjoyed cooking and baking, filling her life's occupation as a homemaker. She was always very concerned about her family's spiritual wellbeing, including her spouse, children, and grandchildren. She loved gardening, raising lots of flowers. In spite of financial hardships, they never felt like they didn't have enough.

Once when yet another hardship arose with a failing water pump, she prayed God to fix the well. Her prayer of simple, trusting faith was answered and the well never quit as long as they resided there. She had a steady, even keel, and longed to stick to the old paths. Her life proved out her sincerity, and we have confidence she is resting under the altar.

Left behind with fond memories are her husband, Ordo Holdeman; daughter, Rhonda and husband Jake Schmidt of Eureka, Kansas; son, Keith and wife Rebecca of Versailles, Missouri; daughter, Kara and husband Mark Classen of Moundridge Kansas; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lois and Conrad Yost of Osceola, South Dakota, Darla and Luke Martin of Hesston, Kansas and Rosalie and Daniel Koehn of Halstead Kansas and 4 sisters-in-law, Vada Schmidt, Verna Schmidt, Gladys Wiens, and Elaine Holdeman

&nbsp; Lloyd D. Coon, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. Lloyd was born April 15, 1929 on a farm near Dalton, the son of Clarence and Lucy (Schmeissner) Coon.&nbsp; He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, received a BA from Southwestern College and a Masters of Education from the University of Oklahoma.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.&nbsp; He was a lifetime teacher and counselor.&nbsp; He taught in Anthony, Bogue, Belleville and Hutchinson.&nbsp; On May 25, 1954, he married Dorothy Burnett.&nbsp; She passed away April 12, 2017.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Lloyd was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Duo Sunday School Class, The Hutchinson Breakfast Lions Club, American Legion Post 68 of Hutchinson and the NRA. He is also preceded in death by his parents; and son, Roy Coon. She went to Golden Valley grade school and was a Pratt High School graduate in 1956 and then attended Emporia State College obtaining her Masters of Library Science . She then received her Media Specialist degree from Boulder Colorado. A sense of adventure took her teaching career to New Jersey, Colorado, Midway Island, Germany, and Texas where she retired in 2001 before returning to her native Pratt County. Her hobbies included reading, travel, playing cards, visiting friends and family, and watching college football and basketball. She volunteered her expertise at the Pratt County Historical Society Museum. Sandy enjoyed meeting and helping people. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pratt, KS., and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, Delta Epsilon Chapter. She is survived by Sister, Vicki (Wendell) Howell of Pratt, KS; . Tristen was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 3, 2003, a son of Michael Thomas and Shelia Diane (Delcomyn) Urton

Tristen attended Windom Elementary School, Windom, Kansas, Lyons Junior High and Lyons High School, Lyons, Kansas, Little River High School, Little River, Kansas and Sterling High School, Sterling, Kansas.

Tristen enjoyed music, being sung to, Veggie Tales, The Loud House and playing with friends and family.

Amy Sue McVey, 50, of Hutchinson, died on October 2, 2021, in Hutchinson. She was born November 23, 1970, in Hutchinson, to Wilson and Sandra (Lock) West.

Amy was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and went on to earn her CNA certification. She loved animals, especially her dogs. Amy was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and also attended Salt City Cowboy Church.

On June 9, 2006, she married Richard Blaine McVey, in Hutchinson. They shared 15 years together.

Amy is survived by: husband, Richard McVey; daughter, April West; son, Adam McVey; daughter, Alissa McVey; parents, Wilson and Sandra West; brother, Andrew West; and two grandchildren, all of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no services at this time.

She was born November 23, 1970, in Hutchinson, to Wilson and Sandra (Lock) West.Amy was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and went on to earn her CNA certification. She loved animals, especially her dogs. Amy was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and also attended Salt City Cowboy Church.On June 9, 2006, she married Richard Blaine McVey, in Hutchinson. They shared 15 years together.Amy is survived by: husband, Richard McVey; daughter, April West; son, Adam McVey; daughter, Alissa McVey; parents, Wilson and Sandra West; brother, Andrew West; and two grandchildren, all of Hutchinson.She was preceded in death by her grandparents.Cremation has taken place. Shirley Jean Huston, 82, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Legends of Hutchinson.  She was born June 23, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of James W. and Thelma I. (Birkes) Lambert.

She graduated from Haven High School with the class of 1957.

Shirley was a member of the Medora Community Bible Church and a former member of the Haven Baptist Church.

She was united in marriage to Jerry Michael Huston on March 14, 1959 in Haven, Kansas.

She was a devoted homemaker and a very proud grandparent.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Jerry of Hutchinson; sons, Doug (Mercy) Huston of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Tracy (Vicki) Huston of Hutchinson; daughter, Kimberly (Russ) Goering of Mustang, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Katie (Brad) Stohr, Amy (Joe) Ackerman, Shawn Huston, Haley (Eli) Heidebrecht, Jason Huston, Rachel (Jonathan) Hollingsworth, Angelica Huston, Kenton Goering and Kevin Goering; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Sechrist of Holden, Missouri, and Sharon (Larry) Gilder of Lenexa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

He was born on July 12, 1942 in Lyons, to Lowell Earnest and Matilda Emma (Dipple) Boldt. Charlie married Kerri Leigh (Mullinex) Boldt on November 27, 1987 in Overland Park. They were married for 33 years. Charlie graduated from Dodge City High School in 1960 and went on to earn his Associates Degree from Dodge City Community College in 1962. He worked in the grain business for many years before going to work at Pratt County Road Department. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gambling, doing yardwork and spending time with family. Edward S. Cox, 88, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. Ed was born May 30, 1933, in Aline, OK, the son of Ralph E. and Olive G. (Morgan) Cox. He graduated from Abbyville High School in 1951. He graduated from Pittsburg State and Tulsa Engineering where he received his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Ed was a Civil Engineer contractor. Ed enlisted in the United States Army and served as Lieutenant in an artillery unit in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged. On September 29, 1959, he married Patricia McGuire in Hutchinson. They later divorced. On September 1, 1961, he married Mary Jolene Quimby in Tulsa, OK. She died on December 24, 2018.

During his long career as a civil engineer, Ed supervised the construction of many large buildings in Kentucky and Texas, including work on the USAA Home Office Building in San Antonio, which was at one time the largest office building complex in the US. He made his home in San Antonio for the last several decades, where they were active members of the St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in their neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; step-daughter, Cheryl Watson; granddaughter, Kasha Horvath and great-great granddaughter, Rachel Townsend. Ed is survived by his daughter, Randi (Jon Larson) Jandt; brother, John Cox; sister, Helen G. Cox; granddaughter, Kim Scott; five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild due in March.

Linda Sue Shingleton, 66, passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2021 at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS.

She was born May 22, 1955 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Tilton and Alice (Hire) McCullough. She graduated Ponca City High School in 1973.

In 1972 she married her high-school sweetheart, Jim Shingleton. She soon became a loving mother and they moved to Kansas, eventually settling in Hutchinson.

Linda was a friend to all and loved to take care of her family for which her love was unconditional. Her physical and mental strength was extraordinary. She liked to use friendly sarcasm and loved teasing people. Her grandkids were her pride and joy and she loved to show off their pictures. Sadie, her beloved dog, was always by her side. She held a strong bond with her Lord and Savior and looked to him for comfort daily.

Survivors include: Husband, Jim Shingleton of Hutchinson, KS; Son, Brandon (Mandy) Shingleton, Hutchinson, KS; Daughter, Kristi Shingleton (Steven Delgado), South Hutchinson, KS; Grandchildren, Alayna Raya and Alex Raya, both of Lawrence, KS; Ezekiel Delgado, South Hutchinson, KS; Skylar Shingleton and Clayton Shingleton, both of Hutchinson, KS; Step Grandchildren, Ava Powell and Van Dean, also of Hutchinson, KS; Siblings, Ted McCullough, Ardmore, OK and Rosemary Mullin, Montgomery, AL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Elwin Lavon “Skeeter” Heitkotter, 72, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021, at his home in McPherson. He retired from McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility after working there for ten years. Prior to that, he worked for 20 years at Central Plastics.

Skeeter was born on July 30, 1949, in Smith Center, KS, the son of Perry Bernard and Sylvia Eloise “Peggy” (Marshall) Heitkotter. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1967.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war as a helicopter door gunner. During his tours of duty he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Army Commendation Medal with a V Device for Acts of Valor, the National Defense Service Medal, the Aircraft Crewman Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with a V Device. Skeeter was a member of V.F.W. Post #2715 and the American Legion Post #24.

Survivors include: a son, Michael Heitkotter of McPherson, KS; two brothers, Galen Heitkotter of McPherson, KS and Ronald Heikotter (Connie) of Bay City, CA; sister-in-law, Van Heitkotter of Hutchinson, KS; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gregory, Kenneth, and Jody.

Donald G. "Don" Schmitz |1930-2021| 

Larry G. Jacob, 81, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on October 2, 2021.

Larry was born in Wichita, on June 29, 1940, the son of Arthur Homer and Clarice Aleyne (Bright) Jacob. He grew up in rural Sedgwick County and attended Valley Center High School, graduating with the class of 1958.

On December 16, 1961, Larry was united in marriage to Donna Hale. The two settled in west of Valley Center, later moving into the city of Sedgwick.

Larry was involved with agriculture his whole life, growing up on a farm west of Valley Center. Shortly after marriage, he started in the dairy business. Later giving that up to start custom silage harvesting in 1971. As his sons grew up, they joined him on the road, with Donna book-keeping and taking care of things at home. By the mid 80’s he started working at the Halstead Bank, followed by several years in the insurance business and also farm management.

He and the family enjoyed many trips to Ft. Gibson Lake. Also many trips to Colorado Springs to see family.

He was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church. He served on the city council and other community and local boards.

Larry is survived by his children Mark (Rebecca) Jacob, Rob Jacob, Rick Jacob, Christy (Aaron Gardner) Jacob and Dee Jacob; long-time friend and companion, Sandy Giffin; grandchildren, Drew (Ashley) Jordan, Aaron Jordan, Kaela Harrington, Paige (Craig) Simon, Kelli Sleefe, Nicole Jacob, and nine great-grandchildren. Many of Sandy’s grandchildren considered him like a Grandpa too, and he loved them as his own; and brothers, Don Jacob and Wayne Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna L. (Hale) Jacob; and brother, Robert Jacob.

He grew up in rural Sedgwick County and attended Valley Center High School, graduating with the class of 1958.On December 16, 1961, Larry was united in marriage to Donna Hale. The two settled in west of Valley Center, later moving into the city of Sedgwick.Larry was involved with agriculture his whole life, growing up on a farm west of Valley Center. Shortly after marriage, he started in the dairy business. Later giving that up to start custom silage harvesting in 1971. As his sons grew up, they joined him on the road, with Donna book-keeping and taking care of things at home. By the mid 80’s he started working at the Halstead Bank, followed by several years in the insurance business and also farm management.He and the family enjoyed many trips to Ft. Gibson Lake. Also many trips to Colorado Springs to see family.He was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church. He served on the city council and other community and local boards.Larry is survived by his children Mark (Rebecca) Jacob, Rob Jacob, Rick Jacob, Christy (Aaron Gardner) Jacob and Dee Jacob; long-time friend and companion, Sandy Giffin; grandchildren, Drew (Ashley) Jordan, Aaron Jordan, Kaela Harrington, Paige (Craig) Simon, Kelli Sleefe, Nicole Jacob, and nine great-grandchildren. Many of Sandy’s grandchildren considered him like a Grandpa too, and he loved them as his own; and brothers, Don Jacob and Wayne Jacob.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna L. Frances M. Smith 89, died October 1, 2021 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.  She was born July 22, 1932 near Walton, Kansas to Arthur P. and Emma E. (Buller) Frey. She was married to Ben W. Smith and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2013.

Frances was a member of the Newton Bible Church in Newton.  She graduated from Newton High School and Grace College of the Bible where she earned a Christian Education Diploma. During her working years she was a Homemaker, Legal Assistant and Christian Educator, as well as working in the mission field.  Frances greatest joy was being a loving mother and wife. She looked forward to spending time with her family and friends and following their lives and activities.

Frances had a deep faith and shared her love of Jesus through faithfully serving others and working in missions, especially to Ethiopia where she and her husband spent 15 years.

She is survived by her sons Russell Smith and Myron Smith; daughters Jeannie Giles, Carolyn Dority and Maureen Eichelberger. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma Goering, Connie Sandate; and brother, Merle Frey.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents and husband Ben.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2021 at Newton Bible Church with Pastor Matt Kruse presiding.  A graveside committal service will precede the memorial at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Restlawn Gardens of Memory rural Newton. On November 10, 1962, he married Charlotte Jaquiss. To this union were born their children, John and Michelle. Dave was employed in the plastics industry. Throughout his career, he created various extrusion processes, established and managed production facilities, and excelled in sales. He was an entrepreneur and inventor at heart. On August 3, 1989, Dave married Carol Schroeder and simultaneously expanded his family considerably with the addition of four step-children – Patsy, Jo, Beth, and Tim – and their families. Dave loved to travel and visited every continent except for Antarctica. He was an avid golfer and card shark. He loved a good joke, magic trick and lively conversation. He made friends instantly where ever he went. Dave had a generous spirit which blessed friends and strangers alike. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Clifford Dahlsten; his sisters, Esther Marie Jaderborg and Anita Thackery; and his step-son, Tim Schroeder. Thomas was born in Lamar, Colorado on September 19, 1995, a son of Dean Allen Lewis and Crista Marie (Branchcomb) Sellens.

Tommy attended Washington grade school, McPherson Junior High and attended McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas.

Tommy enjoyed fishing, loved his dog "Floyd", snapbacks, joking, doing back flips, wrestling, loved momma's cooking, always had a smile on his face, was always willing to lend a hand and loved spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his mother Crista Sellens and her husband Jerry, of McPherson, Kansas; his step-father Jimmy Yianakopulos, of McPherson, Kansas; his siblings, Chris Lewis, of McPherson, Kansas, Abbey Yianakopulos, of Wichita, Kansas and E.J. James William “Jim” Shriner, 88, of Geneseo, passed away October 3, 2021, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born January 20, 1933, in Geneseo, the son of Nelson E. and Mildred J. Moore Shriner. Jim was a life long Geneseo resident. He graduated from Geneseo High School with the class of 1951. Jim was a farmer and rancher. He was an assistant superintendent for Chalmers-Borton Construction of Hutchinson, where he built grain elevators. Jim was also an oil driller, having worked for many oil companies, but primarily Sterling Drilling of Sterling. He was a master beekeeper of 62 super hives and sold honey out of his home. Jim was a member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church, president of Geneseo Booster Club, former Mayor of Geneseo, and served as past president of Geneseo Public School Alumni Association. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening, hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family. On August 29, 1953, Jim was united in marriage with Joyce Lee Wray in Lincoln. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his three children, Jamie Lea Shriner Hart and husband Randall of Midwest City, OK, Jerri Lynn Shriner Phillips of Salina, and James Wayne Shriner of Geneseo and girlfriend Dianna Lange of Lyons; brother, David Shriner of Moody, TX, sister, Joyce Ann Mullen of Geneseo; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Hadley Lane Nelson, 16, gained her angel wings Saturday, October 2, 2021, surrounded by her mom, dad, and two brothers, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born April 25, 2005, in Hutchinson, to Aaron and Heather (Smith) Nelson.

Hadley attended Nickerson schools her entire life, and was currently a junior at Nickerson High School.&nbsp; She enjoyed taking part in musicals, choir, and playing her saxophone in the concert band and jazz band.&nbsp; Hadley was also on the wrestling and soccer team, and co-captain of the Nickerson High School cheer squad.&nbsp; In her spare time, she made sure she kept her two brothers, Addrick and Atton in line.&nbsp;

Hadley was beautiful, both inside and outside, and loved life.&nbsp; She was an inspiration to many and admired by everyone she met.&nbsp; For the past two years, Hadley continued to be a fighter every day with grace and dignity, and never complained about her pain level or difficulty breathing. &nbsp;Family, friends, and even strangers were touched by Hadley’s motivating personality.

Hadley is survived by:&nbsp; her parents, Heather and Aaron Nelson; brothers, Addrick and Atton Nelson, all of Nickerson; paternal grandparents, Shirley and Ron Nelson of Yoder; great-grandma, JoAnn Pearce of McPherson; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and teammates.

Marjory’s life began on January 27, 1949, in Wichita. She was the daughter of Raymond Francis and Marion Elizabeth (Bainter) Burke. Marjory was united in marriage to Jack Boese on December 20, 2002, at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion. She was a talented and busy wallpaper and painting contractor for over 30 years in the surrounding area. Marjory was an active member of Valley United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Jack of Marion; children Brett Lynn Sardou of Clearwater, and Jared Sardou of Marion; grandchildren Dalton Sardou, Savanna Sardou, Kalia Spencer and Kiera Spencer; siblings Carol Kelpin of Topeka, Cathy (Steve) Burrell of Topeka, David (Jean) Burke of Valley Center, and Mike (Donna) Burke of Shell Knob, MO. Marjory passed away on September 27, 2021, at Salina Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents. Marjory’s family will gather with friends on Thursday October 14, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Valley United Methodist Church for her memorial service led by Pastor Martin Hollar. Marjory will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery following the service.&nbsp;
