Jeff’s life began on December 9, 1962, in Ravenna, Ohio. He was the son of Carlos A. and Mary Alice (McManus) Lee. Jeff was a graduate of Capital City Christian School in Lansing, MI, and American Military University with a Master’s degree in Military History. He was united in marriage to the former Dawn Drake on October 2, 1982, in Lansing.

Most people that knew Jeff, knew him as a pastor but he was really a shepherd. He shepherded congregations all over the country before coming to Marion in 2012 to lead the Aulne Church. He touched the lives of so many people, showed them the true love of Christ over and over. Jeff loved to sing, to laugh and enjoyed his family so very much.

His loving family includes his wife Dawn of Marion; children Ryan (Amanda) Lee of Hillsboro, Amanda (Jason) Murray of Hartford, IA, Catherine “Catie” (Lucas) Zurcher of Marion and son in law Shaun Craft of Marion; grandchildren Alexandria, Miriam, Jonah, and Grace Lee, Landon, Brant, and Gavin Murray, Vance and Ransom Scholten, Eivin, Wesley and Jackson Zurcher, and Iliana, Gannon and Colt Craft; sisters Kathy Wiegman of Charlottesville, VA, Barbara Bloomer of Holt, MI, Carla North of Newport, TN, and Shirley Lee of Lansing, MI.

Jeff went to be with his Savior on Monday October 18, 2021, from NMC Medical in Newton after an extended illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jennifer Craft and brother David Lee.

Wayne A. Pittman, Minister, 81, died October 14, 2021, at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, MO. He was born February 19, 1940, in Ardmore, OK, the son of Shadrix A. and Mable E. Musgrave Pittman. He was a 1958 graduate of Ardmore High School. He had received his Bachelor of Theology from Midwest Christian College, Oklahoma City, OK. In 1963. He ministered in churches in Ardmore and Muskogee, OK before serving at Crossroads Christian Church, Hutchinson, for 42 years, most recently serving as the Senior’s Minister.

He married Viola Bernice Platt on August 23, 1963, in Ardmore, OK. She died August 10, 2005.

Survivors include his children; Greg (Andrea) Pittman, Tulsa, OK, Arista (Saul) Lagunez, McKinney, TX, Harold (Kelly) Pittman, Manhattan, KS, and Rachel Pittman, Hutchinson, KS; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Viola Bernice Pittman of 42 years; a grandson, Christopher Shane Uphoff; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Pittman and Peggy Lamer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 22, 2021, at Crossroads Christian Church; 4310 N. Monroe, Hutchinson, KS. Mark Patrick Crough, 77, passed away October 12, 2021, and Virginia Sue Crough, 77, passed away October 8, 2021, both at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born May 16, 1944, in Salina, to Mark Phillip and Jean (Price) Crough.&nbsp; She was born February 6, 1944, in Malvern, AR, to Joseph and Leona (Turner) Hokett.

Mark was the owner of C&amp;C Automotive, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Virginia was a 1963 graduate of Salina High School and a homemaker.&nbsp; The two of them were inseparable.&nbsp; They enjoyed racing and attending their kids and grandkids’ activities.&nbsp; Mark’s interests included working on cars and engaging in computer technology.&nbsp; One could find Virginia playing Bingo or reading a romance novel.

On November 9, 1963, Mark Patrick Crough married Virginia Sue Hokett in Salina.&nbsp; They shared almost 58 years of marriage.

Frida “Fridl” Schneider, 88, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021.  She was born February 23, 1933, in Frommern, Germany, to Johaness and Frida (Stroble) Zimmerman, Sr.

Fridl graduated high school in 1950, and was a store buyer for Pegues and Wiley’s Department Stores.

On October 31, 1952, she married Hans Philip Schneider, in Frommern, Germany.  They shared nearly 65 years of marriage, before he passed on March 16, 2017.  After being in the foreign exchange student program, Fridl and Hans decided to move to Kansas in 1952.

Fridl is survived by:  son, Steven Schneider (Barbara) of Hutchinson; daughter, LeeAnn Marker of Wichita; grandchildren, Loghan Currier (Dylan) of Wichita, Jake Marker (Alexa) of Wichita, Joe Redd (Nicole) of Salina, Kristal Walker (Andy) of Wichita; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Johaness Zimmerman, Jr.; and sister, Barbara Zimmerman.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Willie Zimmerman; and sister, Maria Zimmerman.

Joseph Augustive Nowak, age 88, peacefully passed away at his home of the past four years in Surprise, Nebraska. He was born at the family dairy in Castle Rock Township, “The Ridge”, Wisconsin on April 3, 1933 to Gustave and Emma (Prochaska) Nowak. He was the sixth of 10 children.

Joe grew up on the family dairy farm, milking cows since the age of six. Other than helping on the farm, during his high school years he also worked at a cream corn factory. On occasion cans would explode (which didn’t smell very good), and Joe said he could never eat creamed corn the rest of his life due that experience….and ne never did!

After graduating from Monfort High School, Joe joined the Air Force serving in the 40th Air Refueling Squadron assigned to the 40th Bombardment Wing at Smoky Hill Air Force Base. While stationed at Smoky Hill AFB in Salina, Kansas, he attended a Polka dance at the Star Lite Ballroom in Pilsen. It was during this dance that Joe met the love of his life, JoAnn Svoboda. He had to ask JoAnn’s five rather large brothers for permission to take her home the night they met. Their courtship continued while he served his military time. One funny story Joe liked to share was teasing JoAnn that while stationed in Greenland there was a girl behind every tree (there were no trees in Greenland!).

Following an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Joe and JoAnn married on August 20, 1957 at St John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen, Kansas and Pilsen is where they made their home until moving to Nebraska in 2017. Seven children were born from this 64+ year union, and Joe became known as “Pa” to his children and all their friends. Early in their marriage, Joe worked at various jobs including Boeing in Wichita. He eventually began working with his brother-in-law, Gerald, in soil conservation. Eventually, Joe and his sons formed Joe Nowak and Sons, Inc. (now known as Nowak Construction Inc based in Goddard, Kansas). After long days in the field, Joe spent many late nights repairing radiators for the local farmers and other patrons at Nowak Radiator Service in Pilsen.

Joe, being civic-minded, was a life-long member of the Tampa American Legion Post 372, a member of the USD 397 school board (1977-1981), lay distributor, cemetery board member and religion teacher at St John Nepomucene, Marion County Soil Conservation board, and various other committees and roles.

Upon Joe’s retirement, he and JoAnn were able to take some adventurous trips seeing other parts of the country and the world, including the Holy Land in the Middle East. Joe also enjoyed spending hours woodworking in his shop making cedar chests, shelves, chest of drawers, desks and other requests from family members. Most evenings it was hard to find him without a book reading Louis L’Amour, John Grisham and many other authors.

Joe loved all sports, especially the Green Bay Packers (he was a total Cheese Head!), the Kansas City Royals, and Tiger Woods golf. He was also an avid fisherman going on various trips, including Lake Texoma, the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. He loved spending time with his Kansas and Wisconsin families—visiting, playing Pitch, Blackjack, Uecker and Tripoly. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gentle nature. Joe’s life was a testament to his faith.

Joe is survived by his wife, JoAnn of the home, his seven children, Joseph B (Yolanda) Nowak, Goddard; John (Judy) Nowak, Garden Plain; Jerry (Mary Mercado) Nowak, Vernon, Texas; Judy Steinborn (Thane Schwartz), Marion; Jackie (Paul) Gengler, Salina; Jan (Jayson) Hanschu, Hillsboro; Jennifer (Tim) Frasher, Surprise, Nebraska, 34 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and many great grandchildren. As well as one sister, Evelyn “Pat” Nowak, Grafton, Wisconsin and two sisters-in-law, Susan Nowak, Franklin, Wisconsin and Delores Svoboda, Herington, and many nieces and nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gustave and Emma Nowak, sisters Bernadette (Len) Cummings, Alberta (Jim) Sullivan, Mary (Jim) Margis, Rita (Ike) Edge, brothers Jim (Doris) Nowak, George, Tony and Tom Nowak, brothers and sisters-in-law Geraldine Svoboda, Gerald (Barbara) Svoboda, Ted (JoAnn) Svoboda, Lawrence Svoboda, John (Mary) Svoboda, and Jimmy Svoboda.

Joseph Nowak |1933-2021|

Mary Anne was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our “Big Grandma,” as she liked to be called by her great grandchildren, “M A,” as she was called by her paternal relatives, was an amazing wife, mom, daughter, grandmother, and a loyal church member.

Mary Anne’s story starts on June 17, 1945, the oldest child to Richard C. and Hazel N. Wilson. Mary Anne was born in Shreveport, LA. Soon after Mary Anne was born, Richard and Hazel moved to Waynoka, OK, where Mary Anne would spend her childhood, grow up, make many lifelong friends, and go to school. She was very proud to be a Waynoka Railroader (Class of 1963) and would attend many high school reunions.

Following graduation, Mary Anne attended Phillips University and Northwestern State University at Alva, OK. She graduated from Northwestern on May 27, 1967, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After graduation her employment included the Santa Fe railroad, banks in Amarillo, TX, and Broken Arrow, OK, Howard Public Schools, Howard,&nbsp; Maize Public Schools, Maize, and 30+ years as the secretary for the Maize United Methodist Church.

It was while she was church secretary that she developed a card ministry. The members of the church and family members received cards on their birthdays, anniversaries, when ill, and when congratulations were in order.

She definitely did things “her way” which meant that her family after GOD was the most important thing in her life. Nothing came before them and they all knew it. Her commitment to the Lord was inspiration to all that knew her.

Mary Anne met James Baker (Principal) while teaching at Howard High School. After a short engagement they were married on December 22, 1978, and they settled their family in Maize. They celebrated 42 years of marriage on their last anniversary. During retirement (2012) James and Mary Anne moved to Newton.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Warren Wilson. Surviving in addition to her husband, James, are her sons, Bill Baker and his wife Kerri of Minneola, and Paul Glynn and his wife Michele of Sterlington, LA; her daughter, Michelle Baker of Sedgwick; seven grandchildren, Kendrick Baker, Tyler Glynn, Peyton Glynn, Haley Glynn, Rachel Glynn, Tesla Baker, and Jesse Baker; three great-grandchildren, Khloe Stark, Ayla Lowe, and Kayden Cowden; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm, Friday, October 22, 2021 at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. A service of remembrance will be at 10:00am, Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.

Mary Anne was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our “Big Grandma,” as she liked to be called by her great grandchildren, “M A,” as she was called by her paternal relatives, was an amazing wife, mom, daughter, grandmother, and a loyal church member.Mary Anne’s story starts on June 17, 1945, the oldest child to Richard C. and Hazel N. Wilson. Mary Anne was born in Shreveport, LA. Soon after Mary Anne was born, Richard and Hazel moved to Waynoka, OK, where Mary Anne would spend her childhood, grow up, make many lifelong friends, and go to school. She was very proud to be a Waynoka Railroader (Class of 1963) and would attend many high school reunions.Following graduation, Mary Anne attended Phillips University and Northwestern State University at Alva, OK. She graduated from Northwestern on May 27, 1967, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. James Dean Winslow, 63, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at home in Marquette. James was born August 23, 1958 in McPherson, to the late Gerald and Marilyn (Bruce) Winslow. 

He is survived by his brothers: Rick Winslow (Deanna) of Marquette, and Bruce Winslow (Janelle) of Moundridge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Lee Winslow; and sister: Rene Korbe. 

Cremation has been chosen and there will be private family services at the McPherson City Cemetery.&nbsp;

Riley W. Withrow, 74, went home to be with our Lord, October 13, 20211, at Hospice House.&nbsp; He was born March 1, 1947 in Hutchinson.

Riley served in the United States Naval Reserve 1964 to 1967, Active Duty, Vietnam, 1967- 1969.&nbsp; He received an Honorable Discharge with Combat Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Medal.&nbsp; Riley was very proud to have served his country.

Riley worked in construction in Colorado and Kansas, then as a Computer Draftsman at Haven Steel and Superior Boiler Works Inc.&nbsp; When he retired, with a service heart, he started substitute teaching with USD #308.&nbsp; He volunteered as a Rosary leader.

Riley's first love was music.&nbsp; He played music from early adolescense throughout his lifetime, including bands and sharing his talent anywhere he could.

On January 27, 1989, he married Kathleen Marie Berning, in Hutchinson.

Riley is survived by his wife Kathleen; sons, Ryan William and Anthony Charles of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Aurora Jade ( Ryan); brother Michael Dean ( Cindy) of Washington; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by parents, Riley Harold Withrow and Maxine Thelma Myers; sisters, Lenda Jeanette Bristow and Deborah Dee ( Thomas ) McIntire.

Howard Lee Strong, 88, passed away at his home in Hutchinson, Kansas on October 11, 2021.&nbsp; He was the son of Raymond and Julia Elizabeth Able Strong, and was born on June 6, 1933 in Florence.&nbsp; He was a retired over the road truck driver having spent 27 years traveling the blacktops of our American highways.

Howard was a man with a keen eye for details- that was evident in his ability to master word search puzzles.&nbsp; Any one that would go to visit or even call him would find him watching his beloved WWE or All-Star wrestling at all hours of the day.&nbsp; There was never any " grey" areas for Howard- everything was " black and white."&nbsp; Even with his choices of food he was straight forward - the family shared that there was never anything good about " boiled meat."&nbsp; &nbsp; One time he was asked about having chicken and noodles- noticing that the chicken had been boiled, he picked out the chicken and gave it to Donna and ate nothing but the noodles and the mashed potatoes.&nbsp; He taught his family work ethic- he did whatever he had to do to provide for them whether it was " scrappin, junkin, or recycling."&nbsp; His son, Allen, shared that " Dad was a simple but dignified man- he knew what he wanted and he made plans on how to obtain it, in his own way he took time to protect us all."&nbsp; Dad was a regular at the truck stops everyday having coffee and "holding court" for all those he encountered.

On December 20, 1994, he married the love of his life, Donna Louise Cotter and she passed away this past March.

He is survived by his children, Allen Strong of Bella Vista, AR,&nbsp; Gary Strong of Hutchinson, and Glenn Strong of Hutchinson, Rhonda Miles of Salina, and Brenda Freeman of Brookville;&nbsp; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Barbara Johnson died on October 15, 2021.&nbsp; She was born on May 10, 1927, at Chanute, the second child of T.F. Dunham and Edyth Darlington Dunham.

Barbara graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1945 and from Hutchinson Junior College in 1947.

On June 10, 1947, she married Robert W. Johnson.&nbsp; He died December 8, 1980.

Barbara was a member of St. Teresa Church and of their Altar Society.&nbsp; She was a 70 year member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary – Unit #68 Hutchinson.

She was retired from the Reno County Health Department.

Survivors:&nbsp; daughters, Victoria Hindes (Jim), Denver, Colorado, Valeria Line, Hutchinson, and Jeanie Weeks (Alan), Hutchinson; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; best friend and companion, Olen Mitchell; &nbsp;and several nephews, nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; brother, Lee Dunham; son-in-law, Rich Line; and granddaughter, Charley Line.

Patricia’s life began on the 4th of July 1929 in Anthony. She was the daughter of William Hobart and Bernice Blanche (Huffman) Reneau. She was a 1947 graduate of Medicine Lodge High School. Right after graduation, Patricia was united in marriage to Robert W. Oller on May 24, 1947, in Hutchison. She and Robert came to Marion in 1962 where they lived out their lives. Patricia worked for Duckwalls Five and Dime store, then moved onto working for the City of Marion as the deputy city clerk. Pat was also the manager of the Hilltop Manor in Marion for several years. Growing up in the Depression, taught Pat many valuable lessons which she passed onto her children. She was an excellent seamstress, loved to cook and cater for occasions, she was a skilled cake decorator and took pride in caring for her family. Pat enjoyed socializing with friends in the Neo-century club, her card clubs and bowling. She enjoyed travelling and stayed active throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her daughters Linda (Albert) Holub of Culbertson, NE, Rita (Tim) Zulkoski of Caldwell, and Neva (Gale) Cooper of Marion; nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters; three sisters Mary Ann Rynerson of Pratt, Maurita Denney of Camp Verde, AZ, and Sue Felke of Stafford, sister-in-law Rose Ann Reneau of Wichita and several nieces and nephews. Patricia passed away on October 15, 2021, at St. Luke’s Living Center in Marion. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Dean and Bill Reneau, sister-in-law Bessie Reneau, brother in laws Max Rynerson and John Felke and son in law Donald Smith. Velda Ruth Ratzlaff, age 88 of Moundridge, formerly of Montezuma, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Herman A. &nbsp;and Virginia (Lohrey) Dirks.

She was born September 16, 1933 in Chinook, Montana.&nbsp; Velda attended Prairie Flower and Gem School near Halstead, Kansas.

On November 25, 1956, Velda was united in marriage with Raymond Ratzlaff in Livingston, California.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on December 7, 2019.&nbsp; Velda and Raymond enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage together. &nbsp;The family lived in Livingston, California. Velda and Raymond moved to Montezuma and then to Moundridge in 2006.

Velda was a homemaker. She was a member of Homeland Mennonite Church in Montezuma, and attended Gospel Mennonite Church in Moundridge.&nbsp;

She is survived by two sons, Perry (Lisa) Ratzlaff, Yuma, AZ., and Dayton (Cathy) Ratzlaff, Louisville, GA.; daughter, Dixie (Myron) Koehn, Moundridge; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Velda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; and two brothers, Douglas Dirks and Victor Dirks.

A lifetime resident of the St. Leo and Cunningham communities, she was a former election clerk, was a  seasonal employee for the Kansas Wildlife and Parks, and was the church organist for the St. Leo Catholic  Church for more than thirty-five years.

Geneva was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

On Oct. 17, 1955, she married Paul Theis at St. Leo.  Other survivors include their children and their spouses, Deb (Dean) Simon, Donna Theis (Steve Simon), Roger L. (Laurie) Theis and Alan (Jana) Theis; brother Ron Albers; sister Margie Sterneker; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Parish rosary will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the St. Leo Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.  Friends may call at the Livingston Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in the St. Leo Cemetery.

Preston - Delbert Eugene Kessler, 75, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Hutchinson Regional Healthcare. He was born September 12, 1946 in Pratt, KS to Admiral Dewey and Ruth (Pinkston) Kessler. He married Nici Ann Snyder on June 4, 1966 at Coats, KS, she survives.

Delbert served and retired in the Army National Guard in Hutchinson, KS for 25 years. He was a member of the Iuka United Methodist Church in Iuka, KS.

Betty Jane Kerr Onstott 90, passed away September 28, 2021 in Pratt, Kansas. 

She was born on January 2, 1931, to John A. Kerr and Lenora Lehrling Kerr on their farm in rural Preston. She graduated from Preston High School and Pratt Junior College with an Associate degree. She married Howard "Toppy" Purcell Onstott of Pratt, Kansas on the family farm on July 15, 1950. He passed away on December 26, 1976. In the early years of their marriage they lived in southern California and later returned to the Preston area to farm and manage a dairy. Betty's career began at Pratt County Abstract Company in the 1960s. She was elected twice as the Clerk of the District Court of Pratt County and later appointed to that position. Shortly thereafter she was appointed Chief Clerk of the 27th District and later to the 30th District. During her tenure she served on the multiple statewide committees and represented the district in many different positions for more than 25 years. Betty was very active throughout her life in the Pratt community in many organizations including Beta Sigma Phi, United Methodist Church and Guild, PEO Chapter F, Distaff Investment Club, Pratt Elks Club, Pratt County Historical Museum, Pratt Health Foundation and the Filley Art Museum. She received the Distinguished Woman's Award for 1990 at the Jaycee Awards Banquet. Following her retirement in 1996 she took trips with several of her dearest friends throughout the United States. She was a volunteer for Hospice and was always ready to assist a friend in need. For 40 years she lived on Parklane Street and enjoyed growing flowers, tending her yard and sharing her swimming pool with her friends and family; she later moved into a retirement duplex where she was surrounded by many friends. She then moved into South Wind Home where she was warmly welcomed and surrounded by a loving staff. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for their wonderful support the past few months.

She is survived by her daughter, Kerry Onstott Storey (Bob) of Topeka, Kansas; son, John Onstott (Laurie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandson, Will Howard Onstott of Seattle, Washington; and granddaughter, Ellie Kate Onstott of Kansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Margie Kerr Doan.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 22, 2021 with visitation starting before the service at 10:00 am., at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, Kansas. Pastor John Hamn will be officiating.

She was married to Albert Fowler in 1947 and moved to Hutchinson from Hartselle, Alabama with their three oldest children in the early 1950’s.&nbsp; She was a long-time employee of the City of Hutchinson.

She was married to Bert Stockton in 1972 until his death in 2012. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Ouida Johnson, Beverly Horse and Dolores Sanmann and grandson Michael Schwartzkopf.

Mourning her loss is her brother Thomas Johnson, her children Barbara (Darrell) Woelk, Kimberly (John) Carraway, Kenneth Fowler and Anita (Jon) Schwartzkopf.&nbsp; She leaves behind her grandchildren Matthew Woelk, Dustin Slater, Natalie Kempton, Travis Fowler, Shawn Fowler, Angela Reimer, Kyle Schwartzkopf and Sara Schwartzkopf along with many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Angeline “Kiki” Cappony, 94, of Hutchinson, died August 21, 2021, at Pleasant Hills. She was born November 27, 1926, in Gary, IN, to George and Estelle (Gallanis) Cappony.

Kiki graduated from Benson High School in Gary, IN; received her B.S. from Hanover College, M.S. from the University of Wisconsin; and an Administration Certificate from Fort Hays State University. She taught physical education at Key West High School, Key West, FL, for 4 years, then at Wichita State University, before moving to Hutchinson, where she taught net sports, health, and drill teams at Hutchinson High School before retiring in 1990.

Kiki was a strong influence to many young women through her leadership of drill teams at Hutchinson High School.&nbsp;She instilled confidence, motivation and challenged her dancers to always do their best.&nbsp; In 1984,&nbsp;Kiki took the Salt Shakers dance team to England, where they performed in London at Shakespeare Park, and competed with several teams in several events.

She was a member of AAHPER, KAHPER, Highlands Golf Association, Friends of the Cosmosphere, Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary, and the Altar Guild at Grace Episcopal Church.

Kiki is survived by: her sister-in-law, Martha Cappony; 8 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Sparrow Cappony; and a sister, Christine Argeroudis.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Dr., Hutchinson. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

Dale Gene Frans, 74 of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, after a courageous 9 year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Ever a feisty and surprising man, he refused to be defined by the disease, living an active life for nearly a decade after his diagnosis. Born to Ray and Lillian Frans on June 1, 1947, Dale grew up in McPherson, KS with his older sister Cheri and younger brother Dennis. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1965. Dale went on to serve his country with the United States Army in 1966. Stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War, he worked primarily in communications. After being honorably discharged, Dale returned to McPherson and began a career in flooring installation at Reggie’s Floor Covering. He later started Frans and Frans Installation with his brother Dennis, and continued to work in the industry throughout his life. A creative and adventurous man, Dale loved being outdoors; going camping, hiking, fishing, and searching for arrowheads. He had a green thumb, with a particular talent for cultivating wildflower gardens and cacti. Dale was an avid reader and enjoyed researching Native American history. He enjoyed putting together model airplanes, making his own arrowheads, and painting landscapes. Music was important to him throughout his life; he especially loved to listen to and play drums. Dale drummed and sang as an original member of the band “King Midas and the Muflers,” and never lost his love for listening to music - as often, and as loud as he could! Dale also loved family, and took particular joy in the lives and accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. One of Dale’s greatest gifts was his ability to connect with people. He was an unassuming and down to earth man who loved to joke around. His authentic and playful outlook drew others to him. Throughout his life, he modeled resilience, problem solving, humility, the ability to admit one’s mistakes, and never giving up. Dale openly shared about the ups and downs of his own life making it easy for others to relate. He taught those in his life to never judge a book by its cover, to give and receive grace, and to value nature’s beauty over material possessions. Dale’s legacy lives on in these lessons. Dale is survived by daughters: Daisy Myrick (Steve) of Liberty, MO, Jennifer Mizell of Canton, KS, Angela Strovas (Tim) of Seattle, WA, and Elkie Burnside of Amherst, MA; four granddaughters: Mia and Molly Myrick and Grace and June Mizell; a sister, Cheri Wray of McPherson, KS; sister-in-law, Janet Frans of McPherson, KS and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis, and niece, Heather Lynn Frans. Johnnie Lee Powell, age 67, passed away on Oct. 13, 2021 at the Hays Medical Center, Hays.&nbsp; He was born on Dec. 9, 1953 at Great Bend, the son of LeRoy and Lorine (Busick) Powell.&nbsp; He was a self-employed auto mechanic and resident of Seward since 2000.&nbsp; Survivors include his mother, Lorine; a sister, Donna Clark, Hudson; 3 sons, James Powell (Jennifer Shute), Great Bend, Jeremiah Pack, Lenexa, Jonathon Curtis Powell, Wichita; a step-daughter, Belinda Schaffer, Anderson MO; 12 grandchildren. Graveside service will be 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 at Eden Valley Cemetery, NW 20th Ave. and NW 180th, Street, North of Seward. Edward “Ed” Dean Perriman, 65, of Mt. Hope,&nbsp; passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in Haven.&nbsp; He was born December 12, 1955 in Hutchinson, the son of William Dean Jr. and Irma J. (Morris) Perriman.

He attended Haven High School and graduated with the class of 1974.

Ed was united in marriage to Leighann Eisenhauer in 1983.&nbsp; They later divorced.

He worked for Sonoco Paper Mill in Hutchinson as a millwright for 44 years.

Ed was a member of the Men’s Supper Club in Mt. Hope.&nbsp; He enjoyed hunting, helping his friends, and working with anything mechanical.&nbsp; Above all, Ed loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Evan Ross (Summer) Perriman of Jones, Oklahoma, Brittany Elaine Perriman of Norman, Oklahoma, and Jordan Anthony (Megan) Perriman of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Boston, Charli, and Finley Perriman; brothers, Jim (Liz) Perriman of Topeka, Bob (Nona) Perriman of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; sister, Kathy (Dwight) Walker of Lewisville, Texas; three nephews, Travis Perriman, Shane (Carma) Walker and Clint Walker. and many, many friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 400 W Main Street, Mt. Hope 67108. Private family burial will take place at Laurel Cemetery, Haven.

Freddie Paul “Fred” Like, 80, passed away early Thursday morning, October 14, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his wife and four children, who surrendered Fred into the hands of Jesus while singing “Amazing Grace” and telling him how much his family loved him.

Fred was born January 26, 1941, in Clayton, NM, to Joel and Beulah (Jackson) Like, and committed to follow Christ in his early twenties at First Baptist Church, Kim, CO. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Wesley and Henry Like; son-in-law, Mike Klassen; and great-grandson, Amos Schweizer.

Fred is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Nora; their four children, Larry Like, LaDawna Smith, Laraine Roberts, and Cody Like; two sisters, Juanita McClure and Judy Like; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, 3017 N. Sterling Road, Sterling, KS.&nbsp; The family will greet friends following his service.&nbsp; Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. Private family inurnment will be held prior to Fred’s service in Peace Valley Cemetery, Sterling.

Willard “Bill” Wilbur, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.  He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Myrnon and Sylvia (Houck) Wilbur. He was raised in Wichita, Kansas where he attended Peterson Elementary, Allison Junior High and North High School. He married the love of his life, Betty (Layman) Wilbur. Bill and Betty raised their family in rural Valley Center on the family farm. They had a great involvement and impact on the Valley Center community, sports, education, their church and farming. He and his brother farmed west of Valley Center. These later years he has been a part of the Newton community.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Wilbur,  parents Myrnon &amp; Sylvia Wilbur, brother Bob Wilbur and sister Myrna Foltz.

Bill is survived by his children: Tony (Olivia) Wilbur of Valley Center, Ted (Danell) Wilbur of Wichita, Tammy (Victor III) Riffel of Benton, and Tarenda (Jon) Casimir of Newton; grandchildren: Wade Wilbur, Leah Wilbur Alpers, Jessica Riffel Beech, Victor Riffel IV, Nicole Wilbur Roberts,  Auna Wilbur Cantril, Nolan Casimir, James Casimir and Daniel Casimir; great grandchildren: Braxton Alpers, Easton Alpers, Brecken Alpers, Kemper Beech, Forrest Roberts, Jayne Roberts, Micah Cantril, Jeremiah Casimir and Timothy Casimir; many other family and friends.
