Karen Maxine (Marlett Wilhite) Hall, 76, went home to be with the 
Lord on Thursday, September 16th, 2021, at Diversicare of Hutchinson.

Karen was such a pure and sweet soul.&nbsp; She always maintained a 
gracious forgiving spirit, even after enduring some cruel blows in 
life.&nbsp; In this way especially she was a role model to her children and 
others.&nbsp; Karen endeavored to love others the way her savior, Jesus 
Christ, loved her.&nbsp;

Karen had many fond memories of her childhood with her “Granny”, 
parents, brothers, Marlett, Durler, and Kirchgassner cousins, and 
friends.&nbsp; She talked a lot about loving her dolls, short-haired terrier 
Trixie, a pogo-stick, a phone in her room, riding horses, and her dear 
housekeeper, Annabelle.&nbsp; And the family has a treasure-trove of pictures
 as evidence.&nbsp;

She also loved life and as a beautiful teen, Karen was known for 
“dragging the gut” in Larned, watching Elvis Presley movies, getting 
into mischief with her closest friends and cousins, and riding her horse
 “Poco EP” (Elvis Presley).&nbsp;&nbsp;

Karen surely loved her family and friends. &nbsp;In late 2019 she was 
asked what made her happiest in life, and Karen said it was her four 
children and her beloved devoted husband Judd. She said that Judd always
 took really good care of her, and for all the years after his passing 
she pined to be reunited with him in Heaven.&nbsp; The Lord has now made that
 reunion happen.

Karen was born September 5, 1945, in Larned, the daughter of Lawrence
 Elwood “L.E.” “Mick” and Alma Maxine Smeltzer Marlett.&nbsp; A lifetime area
 resident.&nbsp; She worked from 1960 through 1980 at A&amp;W restaurant, 
Ritzman’s pharmacy, Larned State Hospital, and T’s Place restaurant.

She was a member of New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene in Larned.

On May 8, 1966, she married John A. Wilhite, they later divorced, and
 he passed away May 7, 2016.&nbsp; On November 9, 1981, she married Judge 
“Judd” Edgar Hall.&nbsp; He passed away May 11, 1995.

Survivors include: two sons, Scott (Rebecca) Kirby Wilhite, Hartford,
 CT, Christopher (Angela) John Wilhite, Larned; two daughters, Teri 
(Jim) Janell (Wilhite) Thomas, Hutchinson, Cindi (David) Diane (Wilhite)
 Dinning, Larned, stepson, Paul Hall; eight grandchildren, Brandon 
Stegman, Faith Dinning, Christian Dinning, Kiley Dinning, Cami (Wilhite)
 Venhaus, Tanner Madden, Dalton Madden, Gage Lawrence and three 
great-grandchildren, Grayson, Jacob, and Abbott Venhaus.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Raymond Dean Marlett and Lawrence Vernal Marlett.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 
Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned with Pastor Jack Hopkins presiding.&nbsp; 
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary.&nbsp; 
The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.&nbsp; Burial will be 
in the Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett.

Memorials may be given to New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene or 
Hartford City Mission in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS

Terry Lee Ratley, 74, of Newton, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021.&nbsp; He was born in Harrisburg, Illinois to Strother J. and Katherine Ratley.&nbsp; He was a 1965 graduate of Valley Center High School. After graduation, in September, he served in the U.S. Army until August of 1968.&nbsp; Terry married the love of his life, Dianna Earnhart on July 1, 1966.

He owned his own business T.R.'s Automotive due to his love of cars and being gifted as a mechanic. He also worked at Milcon Concrete then Kansas Ready Mix.&nbsp; He enjoyed gardening, working with his hands fixing, repairing and creating things.&nbsp; Yet his greatest love was spending time with his family.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents Strother &amp; Katherine Ratley, brother Bruce Ratley, and grandparents Harvey &amp; Katie Thompson.&nbsp; He is survived by his wife Dianna Ratley, daughter Lorie (Rick) Sobolik, grandkids Miranda Drake and Jackson Taylor, sister Brenda (Robert) Kesterson, and numerous extended family members.

Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 20, at the Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick,&nbsp; with military honors.&nbsp; Pastor D. Burchfiel will be officiating.

Herbert E. “Gene” Hirst, 95, died Sept. 15, 2021 at Pretty Prairie.

He was born Aug. 22, 1926, at Hutchinson the son of Harvey “Bert” and Juanita Buchanan Hirst.&nbsp; A longtime resident of Pretty Prairie, he was the former owner/operator of Hirst and Son Supply.

Gene was a member of the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge A.F. &amp; A.M., the Pretty Prairie Booster Club and Volunteer Fire Dept., the Salt Miners, and was a WWII Navy veteran.

On June 10, 1944, he married Bertha Mae Miller; she died in Sept. 2007.&nbsp; Survivors include sons Larry and Charles; daughter Anita Field and Cindy Hedrick; brother Thomas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He was also preceded in death by a son David.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time the Church.

Kristi Kay (Deering) Gamble, 46, of Hesston, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family, on September 9, 2021.&nbsp; She was born June 21, 1975 in Newton,&nbsp; the daughter of John David and Sharon K. (Krehbiel) Deering.

She was united in marriage to Andy Gamble on April 8, 2000 in Hesston.&nbsp; They shared three children together, Samantha Gamble (25), Logan Gamble (19), and Trevor Gamble (17).&nbsp; Kristi and Andy later divorced.

Kristi enjoyed caring for the elderly throughout the years and spent her career as a CNA at Comfort Care Homes in Newton, Bethesda Home in Goessel and Schowalter Villa in Hesston.&nbsp; Kristi most recently moved to Foley, Alabama to begin a new career with her cousin, Starr Nicosia, managing a Smoothie King store.

She enjoyed traveling, thrift shopping, going to the beach and attending concerts with her daughter, Samantha.&nbsp; Kristi enjoyed watching her sons, Logan and Trevor, play tennis and participate in school activities.&nbsp; Above all, she loved spending time with her kids and her dog, Chloe. Upon returning to Kansas last fall, Kristi enjoyed a lot of family time, family meals with her boys, parents, and extended family.&nbsp; She was blessed during this time, spending time with her wonderful boyfriend, Sheldon Klaasen.

Kristi is survived by her mother, Sharon Stutzman and stepfather, David Stutzman of Hesston; children, Samantha Gamble of Shawnee, Logan and Trevor Gamble of Hesston; brother, Todd Deering and wife, Julie of Hesston; and niece and nephew, Daxon and Aira Deering of Hesston.

She was preceded in death by her father, John David Deering; maternal grandparents, Rollins and Louise Krehbiel; and paternal grandparents, Elmer and Guyola Deering.

Doris Jean Brown, 91, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 8, 1929 on a farm in Utopia, to Floyd and Marguerite (Little) Worley. Jean married Don Eugene Brown on November 22, 1950 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2011. She attended school at Fairview Elementary and graduated from Eureka High School. She graduated from Kansas State College with a degree in Industrial Chemistry. She commuted to Wichita State and earned a Master's degree in Math Education. She taught at Cheney High School, Russville while Don attended law school in Topeka, and Council Grove while Don worked in a local law firm. They moved to Pratt in 1955 where she gave Red Cross Swim lesson's and taught half days for sixth grade at Haskins Elementary for 2 years. She then taught at Pratt Middle School and Pratt High School until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Prayer Circle, American Association of University Women, Pratt Library Board, and Investment Club. She volunteered at PRMC, Red Cross, Food Bank and RSVP. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and tennis, bowling, gardening, reading, tutoring her grandchildren and other students in math, and doing crosswords. She is survived by her children, Stephen Worley Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jeffrey Scott Brown of Pittsburgh, and Nancy Louise (Steve) Brown-McClain of Pratt; sister in-law, Lois Worley of Chanute; grandchildren, Casey Brown of Chicago, Illinois, Marshall Brown of Mesa, Arizona, Floyd Jaggy and Nancy Brown-Jaggy both of California, Austin (Heather) McClain, Lauren McClain, and Julieann McClain all of Pratt; and great-grandchild, Lukas Scott McClain with another on the way. Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Eugene Brown; daughter, Donna Jean Brown-Jaggy; and brothers, Howard Worley and Warren Worley. Cremation has taken place. He was born on August 3, 1945 in Hutchinson, the son of Harold Clifford Morey and Audrey (Hemphill) Morey. Clifford served four years in the U.S. Navy. On June 26, 1977 he married Diana Stanley. She passed away in 2015. Clifford was a resident of Arlington. He enjoyed his grandkids, trucking, playing cards, and having drinks. Survivors include his son, Chad (Jennifer) Everhart, Arlington, KS; daughters, Melanie Regehr, Elyria, OH, Jessie (Eric) Kennedy, Arlington, Rita (Justin) Vogt, Pretty Prairie; sister Carol Roberts, Andover; Grandkids, Shooter and Piper Vogt, Andrew, Cassidy, and Carrigan Kennedy, Allyson Regehr, and Zhakari Everhart. Clifford Michael Morey |1945-2021|

He was born Sept. 28, 1932, at Kingman,&nbsp; the son of Paul and Bula Mae Staley Wunsch.&nbsp; A resident of Kingman most of his life, he was a retired attorney.&nbsp; He began his law practice in Bartlesville, Oklahoma before returning to Kingman to practice law with his father.

Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Lions Club, and Ninnescah Lodge #230 A.F.&amp;A.M., all of Kingman. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1954 and from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1958; he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Fraternity; served as the attorney for the City of Kingman from 1962 to 1978; Kingman County Attorney from 1969 to 1973; served as a State Representative from 1983 to 1988; was a Trustee of the Rose Spurrier Scholarship Fund; former Director of the Kansas Children’s Service League, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Korean War.

In October of 1960, he married Barbara Bateman in Kansas City, Missouri; she died on Feb. 22, 2017.

He was born Sept. 28, 1932, at Kingman,&nbsp; the son of Paul and Bula Mae Staley Wunsch.&nbsp; A resident of Kingman most of his life, he was a retired attorney.&nbsp; He began his law practice in Bartlesville, Oklahoma before returning to Kingman to practice law with his father.Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Lions Club, and Ninnescah Lodge #230 A.F.&amp;A.M., all of Kingman. He was born on January 1, 1939, in Henderson County, Tennessee, the son of Clyde and Jinnie (Britt) Cagle.

Ralph went to school in Miflin, Tennessee, and was a cotton chopper in the fields of Arkansas and Tennessee for most of his young life.

He then moved to Kansas, where he has lived since.

Once in Kansas Ralph’s brother, Tony, got him a job at ENH Phone Company as a phone shredder, where he worked until they went out of business.

Ralph was currently a resident at a greenhouse at Paramount Nursing Home.

Ralph is survived by two sisters, Laverene Connors of Henderson, Tennessee, and Dale Piper of Salina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clyde Jr., Tony and Max Cagle; and two sisters, Katherine LaCross and Eliza Billingslee.

Liselotte was united in marriage to Arnold L. Serviss on July 12, 1974, in Moundridge. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2012. She volunteered at the McPherson Opera House Apt. 6, Trash to Treasure, and at McPherson elementary schools as a reading assistant. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Charles Parker; four sons, Robert Wellke, Ralph Wellke, Charles Parker and Roy Parker; and one daughter, Kay Noble.

Helen was a dedicated member of the Salvation Army Church and a homemaker.&nbsp; Helen enjoyed crocheting hundred of beautiful afghans for her family and donating many to nursing homes.&nbsp; She truly cherished spending quality time with her family.&nbsp; She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman.&nbsp; We will miss her everyday.

Helen is survived by two daughters and one son,&nbsp; Irene Vincent ( Gary) of Hutchinson,&nbsp; Joe Parker ( Ila) of Pahrump, NV and Marie Cheney ( Rick) of San Luis Obispo, CA.&nbsp; She also leaves numerous other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

He was born in Stockton, California and lived there most of his life, he also lived in Nevada and Utah. He moved to Newton, 6 years ago.

He was an amazing husband and loving father.

He is survived by his wife Keely Clipper, daughter Taylor Clipper, sons Scotty Clipper and Logan Clipper, all of Kansas; and a stepson Michael Sullivan and two granddaughters Jesslyn and Paisley Sullivan, all of California.

Scott last worked as a truck driver, he also worked in construction. He loved building things, traveling, riding motorcycles and just spending time with his wife and kids. He was truly an amazing, loving and kind person.

Scott was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his mom Pamela Clipper, dad Scott Clipper, and sister Jennifer Ivey. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Margaret Jacqueline “Jacquie” Timken, loving wife and mother of two, went home to be with the Lord September 14, 2021, at the age of 73. She was born June 28, 1948, in Hays, to Thomas “Gene” and Nina (Cummings) Sims.

Jacquie graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in teaching.&nbsp; While attending Fort Hays State, she met Steve Timken and they were married on January 25, 1969.&nbsp; They raised two sons, Brian and Kevin, and fostered several children, including two girls, Stacy and Genny.

Jacquie had a passion for teaching children to read, expressed in her career of teaching at Lincoln elementary school, and St. Teresa’s and Holy Cross Catholic Schools. She had a love for reading, Bible study, and investing in other people. Jacquie cared for her grandchildren, invested in her children’s lives, and was always willing to make a new friend.

Jacquie is survived by: her husband, Steve of the home; sons Brian Timken (Kaycee) of Castle Rock, CO, Kevin Timken (Angie) of Gardner; brother, Don Sims (Carmen) of Chautauqua; sister, Sandy Yount of Sublette; grandchildren, Caden, Connor, Madison, Abby, Noah, Caleb, and Luke Timken; and many extended family members.

Mary Ellen (Miller) Culp, 94, died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas. She was born on December 30, 1926 to Warren Miller and Viola (Miller) Miller in Elkhart County near Goshen, Indiana. She was the second of six children.

Mary Ellen married the love of her life, John Henry Culp, on March 2, 1947 in Millersburg, Indiana and they were married for almost 71 years before his death. They moved to Hesston, in 1948. They had four children. Mary was a homemaker until the children were in high school and then was employed outside of the home. She worked for TEC (Travel Equipment Company) as the receptionist and office manager. She then worked for an attorney’s office in Newton as a secretary. Lastly, she worked for Hesston Corporation for 16 years as a shipping clerk and then as an accounting clerk. She and John retired in 1991.

Mary had a lifelong passion for flowers and enjoyed growing, picking, and arranging flowers for herself and others. In later years she loved walking through all four seasons of Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in Hesston and when she could no longer walk, the children would take her around the path in her wheelchair. Her last outing was a ride through the Schowalter Villa Cottage flower beds, exclaiming over the beautiful colors of the flowers, plants, and the butterflies that fluttered around her.

Over the years, Mary and John traveled and camped their way through 47 states, 3 provinces of Canada, and into Mexico. They started their love of travel and hiking at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp near Divide, Colorado. They instilled in their children and granddaughters the respect and caring of nature and all living creatures, great and small.

She is survived by son David (Jennifer) Culp of Orange County, California; daughters Sue (Don) Gering of Hesston and Anita Culp of Bel Aire; son Paul (Mary) Culp of Hesston; and granddaughters Shannon Gering (Christopher Vine) of Carbondale, Illinois and Alexandrea (Ernie) Mullenax of Tehachapi, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and all her siblings: Luella Eash, Wilbur Miller, Ronald Miller, Miriam Black and Roy Miller. Before her sisters’ deaths the sisters collaborated on a memoir of their childhood memories.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Hesston Mennonite Church at 309 S. Main Street in Hesston. Ellen L. Boyle, 97, died Sept. 13, 2021 at her home in Wichita.

She was born Jan. 21, 1924, at Spivey,&nbsp; the daughter of Joe and Alberta Wilson Shultz.

A longtime Spivey resident moving to Wichita in 2008, she was a homemaker.

Ellen was a member of the County Acres Baptist Church, Wichita.

On Aug. 18, 1944, she married Rex Boyle at Hutchinson; he died Oct. 5, 2016.&nbsp; Survivors include a son Max and his wife Jan; daughter Rebecca Fryar and her husband Ken; grandchildren Jennifer Alexander and Mark Boyle; and four great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was also preceded in death by a son Steve; and sisters Vera Bluejacket and Edie Beth Hinderliter.

Leroy William "Lee" Knittig 82, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:55 a.m., Wednesday, September 15th, 2021 at McPherson Hospital.

Leroy was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 14, 1939, a son of Eleanor (Fuchs) and Bernard Knittig.

Leroy attended Assumption Catholic school and graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School, St. Louis, Missouri.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Leroy served in the Missouri National Guard.

Leroy William Knittig was united in marriage to Florence Barbara Kraft on July 11, 1964 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, St. Louis, Missouri. The young couple established their first home together in St. Louis. They were blessed with the birth of four children, three daughters, and a son, Valerie, Janice, Gail and Nicholas. In 1977 the family moved to Canton, Kansas.

Through the years Leroy worked as a tow truck driver - mechanic for Brouk - Ziegler Motor Company in Arnold, Missouri. After moving to McPherson he began working for Cargill in the maintenance department and retired from Orscheln.

Leroy was a member of the McPherson Saddle Club. Leroy enjoyed shooting sports, anything to do with the St. Louis Cardinals or St. Louis Blues, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 57 years, Barbara Knittig, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Valerie Cuthbertson and husband Dale, of Canton, Kansas, Janice Holderness and husband Jim, of Canton, Kansas, Gail Knittig, of Newton, Kansas, and Nicholas Knittig, of Seagoville, Texas; his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald Knittig.

Visitation and rosary will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. with rosary staring at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021 with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating.

Margaret Jacqueline “Jacquie” Timken, loving wife and mother of two, went home to be with the Lord September 14, 2021, at the age of 73. She was born June 28, 1948, in Hays, to Thomas “Gene” and Nina (Cummings) Sims.Jacquie graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in teaching.&nbsp; While attending Fort Hays State, she met Steve Timken and they were married on January 25, 1969.&nbsp; They raised two sons, Brian and Kevin, and fostered several children, including two girls, Stacy and Genny.Jacquie had a passion for teaching children to read, expressed in her career of teaching at Lincoln elementary school, and St. Teresa’s and Holy Cross Catholic Schools. She had a love for reading, Bible study, and investing in other people. Hillsboro - Walter Norman, 88, died September 14, 2021 at his residence in Hillsboro. He was born July 22, 1933 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Gaylord and Lorene (Frields) Norman. He retired from the Wichita Police Department and Cessna Aircraft. He married Betty Gossen April 15, 1966 in Wichita. 

Survivors include: daughters, Ruth Ann Stevens of Sanford, North Carolina, Betty Jeanne Pack of Alpharetta, Georgia, Dana Deon Hamilton of Wichita; son, Rahn William Carlson of St. Paul MN; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Armbrister, Doris Jean Sheats, Velma Sue Kelly, Jane Lorene Foster, Mary Alice Kelley; 6 grandchildren. Walter Emmett Norman was born July 22, 1933 northeast of Pryor, Oklahoma in Mayes County, Oklahoma. He was the oldest child, and only son of Gaylord and Lorene "Frields" Norman. His father was a farmer who died young at 33, leaving Lorene with a boy and three daughters, Elizabeth Ann, Doris Jean, and Velma Sue, to raise.

Lorene remarried Gilbert Brown a few years later and two more sisters, Jane Lorene and Mary Alice, were born. The family farmed and the children attended elementary school in the Welch, Hazel and Osage school districts, then all of them attended and graduated from Pryor High School. The family added dairying to their farming operations at the time Walter began high school. The family worked long, hard hours farming, gardening, and milking cows during those years. Walter played and loved the sport of baseball, and he graduated in May, 1951.

The Korean War was in the second year in 1951. Walter enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 1, 1951. He served in the Pacific theater in Japan, Korea, and in Alaska as an airman assigned to Patrol Squadron 42. He was honorably discharged on April 24, 1954.

Walter worked four years at Douglas Aircraft Company, married Laura Sandrock, and two daughters were born to them, Ruth Ann and Betty Jeanne Norman. The marriage ended in divorce six years later. Four years later, he married the greatest love of his life, the former Betty Gossen Carlson. He became the step-father of her children, Dana Deon and Rahn William Carlson.

Walter joined the Wichita, Kansas Police Department on October 1, 1959. He served as a Patrolman, Detective, and later as a Sergeant and Lieutenant in Patrol. He retired from police work August 1, 1980. He finished Graduate School at Wichita State University, and joined the Cessna Aircraft Company, January, 1981, at Wichita, Kansas as a Senior Industrial Engineer and enjoyed a rewarding second career. Walter retired the last time on April 1, 2000, to spend his life traveling with his beloved wife, spending time with Grand-Children, and living in the Marion County Lake Community near Marion, Kansas.

Anita married Richard Edward Harrold on September 3, 1966 in Eskridge, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2003. Anita graduated from Eskridge High School in 1963. She then attended Emporia State University where she earned her Bachelor's in Business Education. She worked as a legal secretary. She attended Turon Community Church and volunteered for Camp Hope. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and taking care of her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Jason (Carrie) Harrold of Pratt; brothers, Roger (Cindy) Manz of Eskridge and Terry (Carol) Manz of Frisco, Texas; and granddaughters, Trystan Harrold and Shiloh Harrold. Alita graduated from Newton High School. She married Alex Sanchez, and to this union was born two sons, Mitrio Sanchez of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and Dan Sanchez of Melvern. She later married Roger Zumbrun, and to this union was born a son, Jacob Zumbrun of Denver, Colorado. Alita was preceded in death by her parents Tony and Colleen, and her life partner Alex Sanchez. She is survived by her sons Mitrio, Dan and Jacob. Three granddaughters- Azaria, Sunza, Sydnie, Three grandsons, – Isaiah, Caesar, and Aztec. Marjorie R. (Goering) Stucky was born to Jonathan J. and Katie E. (Zerger) Goering on April 17, 1929 at the McPherson County Hospital, McPherson.&nbsp; She grew up on a farm ½ mile east of the Eden Church.&nbsp; She was number 9 in a family of twelve – four girls and eight boys – all of them living to adulthood.&nbsp; She died on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Moundridge, Kansas.

After attending Pioneer Grade School for eight years, she graduated from Moundridge High School in 1947, and then went to Bethel College for one year and taught grades 1 – 4 at King City Grade School in Elyria for one year.

Marjorie was baptized in 1945 and joined Eden Mennonite Church, where she was a member all her life and was very involved with various church activities and roles.&nbsp; She married Marvin Stucky on June 13, 1948 and they made their home in Elyria, where Marvin worked at C.D. Kaufman’s Service Station.&nbsp; After the Mid-Kansas Coop bought the station, he worked for them for 35 years.&nbsp; After Marvin retired in 1987, they spent the school year at AMBS in Elkhart, Indiana, doing volunteer work at the seminary.&nbsp; In 1988, they built a duplex in Pine Village and retired there doing many volunteer jobs, such as yard work and painting homes and rooms when they changed residents.

Four children were born to them: Marvetta, Murray, Max and Morris. They all attended Elyria Grade School and graduated from Moundridge High School.&nbsp; Marvetta went to Beauty School and the boys all graduated from various colleges.&nbsp; They bought an RV and traveled to many states in the U.S. and visited with Reuben Goerings in Phoenix and Harvey Goerings in Columbus, Ohio, and many other places.

Marjorie’s hobbies were sewing and piecing quilts, which her mother taught her at an early age.&nbsp; She also loved to quilt, and hurried home from school when her mother had a quilting, so she could put some stiches into the quilt.

For several years, she cleaned the Elyria Grade School and then worked at the Eden Church Office for thirteen years.&nbsp; She was Pastor Walt Neufeld’s church office secretary.

After her grandchildren were born, she spent several days taking care of them.&nbsp; There were nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren that needed care at various times.&nbsp; One grandson, Ben, had a Wilms tumor removed (and also a kidney) when he was 14 months old.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Marvetta and Shelly Sperling; Andy, Jackie, Kate and Evan Sperling; Micah, Stephanie, Jacob and Hailey Sperling; Murray, Melody, and Michael Stucky; Max, Lynda, Ben, and Madeleine, Abe and Sam Stucky; Morris, Diana, Grant and Hope Stucky; brother, Marlo and Ruby Goering; and sisters-in-law, Dolores (Phil) Goering, Mabel (Reuben) Goering, Mary Cross (Don) and Felice (Clyde) Goering.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; granddaughter, Natalie Stucky; parents, Jonas and Katie Goering; sisters, Meta Juhnke, Mary Ann Preheim, and Laura Krehbiel; brothers, Elmer, Harvey, Phil, Reuben, Emil, Don and Clyde Goering.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m., at the church.&nbsp; Family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, at Moundridge Funeral Home.

Marjorie R. (Goering) Stucky was born to Jonathan J. and Katie E.
